Elnin wasn't sure how exactly did this happen: was she trying to snag this damned fragment lying in the corals? Looks like she breathed in some of the poisonous gas again. This time the hallucination was clearer: she heard the loud voice, and could remember all the phrases it was saying. She was betrayed... by whom? Who betrayed her? Who wasn't there when was needed? Her fellow clansmen?.. No, it would be better to say she wasn't there... Mei? No, she knew Mei is somewhere near, as minipetish as all of them. Her Queen?.. Cymbeline? Could she be betrayed by some of the authorities?..

Nnnnooo. That was just torturing her: Eisheth lied on its back, and shut her eyes trying to get away from the buzz in her head.

Diana tried not to gag as she felt the water sweeping her through the flooded ruins. The sea life, as it were creeped her out badly. She just wanted out of this horrible nightmare and back in her dorm. But as it were, it seemed she was stuck following the other minipets into this nightmare. So, she took another look around and noticed the fragments of crystal floating throughout the place. She figured might as well try for some.

She swims over and reaches for the fragment only to hear this skull-rattling shriek before she dissipates and finds herself back where she started. ~So much for that one~ she thinks as she feels like something is missing as she continues on.

Diana sighs as she paddles her little minipet feet towards a second fragment. Perhaps this time would go better than the first?

She heads for it but just as she reaches it she sees the coral-like flowers emit some type of gas. She shakes her head trying to clear the lightheadedness that came along with the gas. As it dissipates her eyes widen then narrow as understanding comes to her. She lets out a growl at seeing the others near to her. She quickly swims away from them and looks for more of the fragments that are calling out to her now. She knows they are the only ones she can trust.

Diana spots another of the fragments and quickly paddles towards it. She felt she had to get to it, then she could bring one of the one who understands with her. The others... the others would just betray her the moment that they had the chance.

Finally she gets to it. It seems to be stuck in one of those odd minipet shaped coral. She shakes her head and grabs for it with her teeth, but as she does she feels the coral grab her. She glares and growls as she struggles with the coral, her teeth holding tightly to the fragment as she finally gets free, taking the fragment with her. Finally, she had one of the few things she could trust, after all, they were the ones to show her the truth.

Bix sputtered and struggled. This was not part of his plan! He was a hero and he needed to save his love! Where was she? Where was mini-Tika? HIS ONE TRUE LOVE!

The plushie pet drifted, floating easily in the water through the strange distortions. He spotted something close by and like in the maze be began to feel sleepy, floaty. What was going on?

And then the world made sense. He was a hero.... but these people, who were they?! Why would they betray him!?

The lightheaded feeling persisted but he needed to find those fragments. He needed to. To be a triumphant hero, he needed to speak to the fragments... they understood him.

He grabbed one, almost oblivious to the distorted mini attached to it. Bix and the mini tussled, tossed. The fight was valiant but Bix was triumphant, clutching the fragment close to his plushie chest.

It gnashes unusual teeth at you, chatters in a strange and high shriek, and only with the greatest amount of effort do you finally extract the fragment from the minipet. You obtain ONE fragment.

West no longer had the slightest idea what was going on. The last thing he remembered clearly was being in some stark, silent room with Tro and Herryk, but in between then and now he was certain he had been on a beach and ankle deep in snow near-simultaneously, and then in a room lined with doors. It didn't make any sense. At all. The dreams he had wandered through in between these bursts of reality had been pleasant enough, and now that he was fully awake and surrounded by what appeared to be breathable water, the demon found that he would rather be sleeping again.

Once he had shaken off the groggy remnants of his lengthy nap, it took West another few seconds to realize he was still a minipet. It seemed impossible that he would forget, and the fact that he had gave him pause. If he stayed in this body too long would he forget what it was like to be himself? The boil paddled in place, his movements becoming more frantic when the beating of his wings and feet did nothing but spin him in place. He shouted, the water muffling his squeaky roar.

Something flickered in his peripheral vision and he stopped wiggling long enough for the bubbles around him to clear. It was a strange shard, and its sudden appearance filled West with misguided hope. If it could appear out of nowhere, maybe it would take him away from this place. He reached out, extending a claw to touch the fragment.

The shriek came from everywhere and nowhere, ripping through his mind so ferociously that he was sure he was going to—

Yup, he was dead.

He appeared again in an instant, whole and unharmed. Mostly. He felt slightly hollow in the vicinity of his chest, but after raising a paw to rub at the fur there, West shrugged off the sensation. Okay, so he had to keep away from the shards. He could do that.

The demon paddled more carefully this time, tucking his wings close to his back and slowly swimming toward one of the mangled minipet skeletons, intent on examining—

A shard blinked to life in the vicinity of his left shoulder. He was too slow to avoid it.

Dead.

Being a minipet was, purely and simply, confusing. He could not stay with anyone, and things just kept happening to him. Like this water washing him away. His helmet threatened to push his head underwater but he perservered.

There, one of those peculiar shards. Merging with another minipet by the looks of it. He reached for it, not seeing the minipets eyes open as his helmet obscured his vision. It dragged at him, teeth chattering and shrieking as it tried to pull away, but Soren merely latched onto the fragment and held his ground until it eventually pulled away completely.

Sherry may have panicked a bit, in all honesty. She was not ashamed of this. Freezing water filling up a room and then washing her away? She felt a few moments of panic were completely justified. After all, most days something like that would end with death.

Today is just meant that she was now floating, underwater, in a very strange place. I’m not dead, right?

“I wonder sometimes.” Sherry scanned her surroundings. There were quite a few other minipets floating around with her, she was glad to see. She really should try to find some of the critters she knew. That little fox, the pretty purple thing, that poor kangaroo, and other hunters; they all had to be around here somewhere. All she had to do was find them.

Though the setting was a bit distracting. A castle? Huh. Strange sea life? Check. Glittering shards of something? Yep, had those, too. In fact…there was one right there.

Sherry floated toward the shiny thing, hovering over something vaguely familiar. Just as the life trainee-turned-bunny reached the shard, electricity coursed through her little body.

“Ow!” She floated slowly away, waiting for feeling to come back into her limbs properly. That had hurt.

West shuddered as he poofed back into existence again. The hollow feeling was more pronounced this time, almost nauseating, and he took a few moments to look himself over before deciding nothing was actually wrong. He didn't know what those fragments were for or why they forced him to dissipate when he touched them, but he was even more determined to stay away from them now. Too bad they weren't interested in returning the favor.

He growled at one of the cyclops fish as it swam past, swiping at it as quickly as he could in this strange water. As his paw made contact, the fish disappeared, spirited away by the shard he touched a second later.

Ded.

The floating was oddly nice. Unusual, but almost relaxing. As long as one didn’t think too hard about the fact that breathing underwater wasn’t normal, for her anyway. So, that’s what she did.

After that shocking experience a moment ago, she re-evaluated the need to get close to things. The crystal shards were shiny, and that alone was attractive. Sherry did see other critters attempting to collect them, too. Could they be helpful? She didn’t know. But as she lazily floated in this space, she spied one that seemed to be within easy grasp.

It was easy enough to grab the shard. It was lodged in some strange coral that…had eyes. Eyes that were suddenly staring straight into Sherry’s. A shiver ran up the bunny’s back as the strange, malformed creature grabbed hold of her and pulled. It bared teeth, screeched, and Sherry was certain it was trying to drag her way.

“No! No, no, no!” Sherry kicked and squirmed, and suddenly felt the other creature release its hold on her. Little heart thumping in her chest, Sherry swam a reasonable distance away. That…that had been like some kind of nightmare out of her childhood right there. The exact kind of thing that had made her become a Hunter.

She looked down at the crystal fragment in her paws. Victory.

As she was swept away, Shaheen found herself rolling and flipping underwater, her little legs moving and flailing as she attempted desperately to swim. Water churned around her, carried her further, and with glowing yellow eyes she could see the others around her, in similar predicaments. It was awful, the noise pounding in her ears doing nothing to drown out the whispers that were always lurking somewhere in the back of her head.

At some point, she gave up, and allowed herself to be carried along, only to be surprised by how completely painless the experience was, and how she could actually breathe while under the water. How strange! And now that she had stopped struggling, she found that she could move almost naturally throughout the water like substance, gaze descending below towards what appeared to be a glowing fortress.

She attempted to swim downwards, to attempt to close the distance between herself and the castle, only to find that there were many other things between it and her, many strange and distorted things that drew her curious attention. Crystal shards appeared in random locations, and distracted, she swam/walked through the water towards one that was hovering above a television, determined to snag it up before somebody else, like a thieving wretched hunter, could do so. As she came near, the shard began to glow, sparkling for a mere instant before lashing out at her with an electric current that sent horribly painful jolts down her spine before it then faded from sight.

After her encounter with the scary little creature, Sherry had a renewed sense of purpose. That was exactly the reason she was here. Because things like that lurked in the darkness and would try to drag humanity down to do who-knows-what with them. All the pain, suffering, and trauma she had faced was not without cause. She had a war to fight. She looked down at the little shard again. And dammit, a win was a win.

Now. What to do about the current situation? Sherry still didn’t know. It didn’t seem like she could really get to that castle. Or anywhere else, for that matter. No, so far it appeared that the only thing she could do was collect more shards.

Impatience oozed out of the lindwyrm’s voice.

It’s called evaluating the situation.

Action is going to get us out of this mess.>

I know. I am just trying to decide which action to take.

Because you interrupted me. Sherry ignored Armagnac’s response as she swam toward another shard.

Unfortunately, this shard seemed to be protected by the same force as the first. Electricity surged through Sherry’s body again. It hurt even more the second time around.

drifting away slowly from the television area, afraid of getting shocked once more, the small vaisel eventually turned around, amber eyes sweeping the landscape for another fragment that she could attempt to procure. Her eyes finally rested upon one that was surrounded by a very flowery looking coral, and she began to float/walk nearer to it. When she finally felt near enough to make an attempt to grab it, one of the flowers nearby hissed and she turned her face towards it, blinking as a gas filled her vision.

Suddenly she felt light headed and dizzy, almost disconnected from herself, in an odd way. It was strange, but not at all painful, and as she came back into her own mind, it was to a wonderful sound of silence, a clear headedness that she hadn't felt since the destruction of the isles. She could finally think for herself, without any outside influence, and her thoughts quickly turned dark. But wait, there was a whispering again, only this time she could actually understand what it had to say, and it made perfect sense. She had a task, a quest that was hers and hers alone. She was to trust nobody, as to trust again would lead to certain disastor, and her eyes narrowed suspiciously at all of those others that were also here. She began to move away from them, wanting to just be alone, because she didn't need anybody but herself. A hatred was burning inside of her, consuming her soul, but it was not without cause.

The siren call of the fragments had her completely entranced. She needed to find another, to quell this feeling inside of her and to find the answers that she now seeking. There was so much more they needed to tell her!
