The little time he had spent with the Firekin, he would admit that they are quite an organized force. Guards were on duty everywhere and it would be difficult for anyone to simply slip through such defenses. It would appear that the Firekin spoke of plans and tactics of what to do this night. To not fight if spotted was common sense, why would they fight with their own members? However, should the enemies be Nergui, he cannot make too many promises. Though he was more concerned what the family of the deceased lion would do. Luckily, Fia wasn't here, and looking among the group, he wasn't certain if any of her relatives were here either.
Though, he noted Nyimak was present.
With a familiar face, it would probably be best if he kept his company close to her. He wasn't entirely trusting of his new family, but it was growing on him.
The north post guards seemed to consist of two, and the group were already in murmurs of tricking them. "Thabiti do what Fire kin need."

Perhaps they should have used the birds to get the guards away, that way the group of them could pass quickly through and through. To have one be caught and laid with the blame of traveling this far away was concerning, they had to stick together, but work as a team. Like the war games, but this was real, this was important.
He could have Kooka...
No.
Not unless it was decided.
But perhaps he should make the bird do his whim anyway, get eyes off their traveling path so none would have the blame be lain upon them.
He let his paws touch as softly as he could on the ground as to not make as much imprint as possible. THey needed to leave little trace behind.
"Let us have the birds cause a stirring, make strange noises farther over so we might pass without notice," Mwako said in a hushed question. They needed to act quickly and agree now or find another way.

It looked like things were starting to get more interesting. It really was a shame they had yet to agree on an escape plan, that way, things would have gone more smoothly. "Using the birds sounds like a good enough idea." It was simply and straight to the point. Most lions already thought of birds as cooky enough anyways, and he wouldn't doubt the guards at the outpost might be momentarily distracted. And if it didn't work, well, there could be other ways to deal with the guards. Lying, for one. Azulon was a good liar. besides, their party was rather big. If they really needed to, they could split up. At least some would get past.

Elcca looked over her shoulder towards Yoan. It seemed the group was still debating it out, but largely siding on using their avian friends to distract the guards while they passed by. It seemed a bit risky, after all, not all firekin cared what birds said.
"Well, I'm all for trying something. Better we risk a plan than get spotted just sitting up here," she dislodged the small crow, who reclaimed his seat on the bridge of her nose. "What do you suppose Yoan?"
The crow didn't seem too enthralled with the idea. "I see some inherent problems with this scheme, El," he cautioned. But when didn't he? "But I think making some noise would be safer than telling the pride there is danger on some other side of the desert. Just seems a bit ill advised. I doubt the pride will take false alarms too well with everyone on edge."
"Sounds good enough to me," Elcca concluded. "This outpost is boring enough that hopefully they'll all go investigate. But we should be prepared if one hangs behind."
Yoan gave a low sigh, or as best a bird could manage, and took to the air.
ITS TIME TO MAKE NOISE.
arrow Bird characters, commence with distraction plan alpha! Roll a dice, 1-10. The rolls will add together
1-5: The guards do not care. Birds are so silly! 5-7: Hraga heads off to investigate! Finally something is happening around here! 8+: Both guards leave to see what all the screaming is about.
[Previous detection rolling is concluded!]

Mwako looked to Elcca and then to Kooka and nodded, "Kooka, go."
"But you wished for me to stay here."
Mwako narrowed his eyes, "we must be successful before morning, go."
Kooka seemed to understand, fluttered his wings, "before the awendela? yes, yes, Kooka knows. I am like kiwidinok, of the wind, you shall see," and Kooka was off into the sky after the dark colored Yoan.
Kooka tried to put as much distance between himself and the moving party as he could, he could barely see them in this light, which was good for their cover. He looked to the dark Yoan, "we make noise like the ahote, restless one?" he asked.
He believed to wait, but they needed to start, Kooka screeched, as loud as he could, a shrill, piercing noise that sounded as if something dire and consequential was occurring beyond the guardpost, away from the group.
Perhaps he could get the guards attention.

Morag fell to her stomach as the bird started setting up a rucus, making her profile as small as possible. That thing had some LUNGS on it... and with luck, all that noise was going to draw the guards away while they made their move.
Keeping an eye and an ear tuned for the guards, she got herself into motion, creeping across the ground in the low trot used during hunting to cover distance while staying mostly unnoticed. Her dark form slipped over the ground like a moon shadow, making use of what little cover there was to disguise herself and hope that the others were doing the same.

Watching the birds as best he could, Serkan was suddenly very glad there seemed to be no moon tonight. With how many lions there were that were brightly colored, they'd pop out if the moon shone. Lions like Morag, though, blended well into the shadows and darkness. The tri-colored lion found a good spot that both hid him and allowed good visual and crouched down, ready to move when the guards moved. He was a bit sad there weren't many avians with them, but they'd take what they could get. "Come, guards, follow birdies.. See what ruckus is..." He grinned slowly, eyes glinting a bit. "Allow sneaky lions through..." He had entirely missed Aithne's less than pleasant looks, focus on the problems that were more imminent than simply making someone mad at him.

"Well, look at that." Itzcoatl hissed. "Birdsss are good for sssomething, after all." The end of his tail twitched and then he turned to peer around at the lions. Whilst they all chittered and lowered their stances, the cobra simply set off across the borders, setting quite a pace for a creature with no legs. Free of rocks and crossing open land, the twilight glinted from his scales and caught in his eyes.
"Perhapsss we ssshould do lesssss gawking and more sssneaking." He advised, intent on leading the way. Fia would want him in the forefront, not skulking in the back.
There was spying to be done.

Hraga was in the middle of a rather lovely daydream when the sound of screaming practically startled the fur right off his back. Never in his life had he heard a noise so... bizarre! "Ugh, what on earth is that?" he grumbled, looking around for the source of the shouting.
Mizuka was not quite as understanding. The moment the screetching had begun, his heart had started to ram in his chest. The young hongshan liked to think he was prepared for this inevitable conflict... but suddenly being threatened with a call to arms was almost sickening. He nervously shot the other male a pitying glance. "I don't-"
"It sounds like..." It sounded a lot like his sister, Ea, actually. "Wow, something dying. I'm going to go see what it is! Bet its some kind of rock hopper, they yell like that."
Mizuka flinched. "Shouldn't we wait for Tarsa to get back?"
"Eeeh, he's fine." Hraga trailed off, walking in the direction of the screaming birds. The Hongshan gave a nervous glance around the suddenly eerie rocks, before darting off after him.
--
Back at the group, Elcca gave a wide smirk. "Alright, we'd better make tracks and fast!"

Mwako'damu for a moment felt a sting go ear to ear when Kooka opened his mouth. Sun ablaze what noises could come out of such a tiny, annoying, well, he could get quite a bit wordy. Perhaps Kooka might be more settled and focused after this?
Good job, my friend, Mwako thought to himself as he began moving with the group, low to the ground to get passed the outpost. Surely the guards had to have ben alarmed by Kooka's awful noise.
One would hope.
They needed to stay close and be as quiet as possible, and as the serpent spoke, Mwako merely moved forward as quietly and quickly as possible.
There was quite a bit more to be done beyond here.
He did, however, hope Kooka would not take too long to return and would be smart to get out of sight, double back, something, to keep the guards away as long as possible.
As the guards appeared to be distracted, Mwako looked to the others after Elcca spoke, "let's go," and his body surged forward to create distance beyond the post.
Meanwhile, Kooka was letting the noise come from his tiny body for as long as possible His lungs felt almost afire, his master would be proud, yes? For him feeling the fire so much inside of him? Or was that a bad thing...hmm. Kooka watched as the guards seemed intrigued and he darted for the ground behind cover and continued. Once he thought there was enough of a noise to be left as a bait, without touching the ground for any sake of scent, Kooka was quick to fly in one direction and make a long loop around in the air, careful not to be in line of sight.
He watched as some began to move, and he wished to usher more on.
Quick quick, he wished to say, but his voice had eluded him...bother.

Ali kept his mouth shut while the others bickered about a plan of attack, so to speak. Some wanted a distraction, some wanted to try their luck keeping to the shadows. Eventually the collective was forced to make a quick decision and think on their toes. He, along with those around him, fell silent or spoke in breathless whispers. Two guards wasn't terrible... it was an odd place for them to be but then again, the more guards on the border the better.
At least for occasions outside of this one.
Finally, one of the bird handlers set their pet loose to create a distraction. It was a long shot but the avian put its full effort into the attempt and his efforts clearly paid off. The two large figures standing watch vanished to investigate. Huh... perhaps he should look into getting a feather-duster of his own. With a short nod to Elcca, he continued forward.

When he was sure the guards were gone, Serkan was one the move. He didn't wait for a go from anyone - He had his goal in mind, and it felt so very close now. Paws hurrying, he silently picked a way past the guard post. He only paused long enough to look in the direction Kooka had created noise and thus the guards had gone, a small smirk on his own face. After a moment, he passed by the post, finding the easiest path from there and only waiting to make sure everyone was making it through. Oh bless those little feathery birds...

Mwako came to group up with one he believed was named Serkan, his eyes, Mwako had remembered. They were so piercing, even in the night. Mwako's silver eyes looked to where the guards had gone and disappeared into the night's darkness, and he waited, soon he ehard a small flutter and knew it was Kooka. Thankfully he was not making more noises.
Kooka came to land on Mwako's shoulder again and opened his mouth but it was hard to talk. Mwako shook his head at the bird.
"No," he said very, very quietly, "save the strength inside, we do not know if we'll need it again, understood?" Kooka nodded and rested on the shoulder, preening feathers, and trying to be quiet to sooth his throat.
Least Kooka's loud, but tiny mouth was good for something, yes? Kooka was happy for that.

Seeing the guards take off to investigate, Morag felt a surge of new confidence in the mission they were undertaking and picked up her pace, extending her trot into something a bit faster. She still kept herself low, but being less afraid of making noises herself, she was able to cover more ground faster.
Something still nagged at her though... the question that was probably on everyone's mind. Who had set them on this mission in the first place, and why hadn't they joined them to explain it? Had they left too soon and missed them? Or was the instigator with them and refusing to own up to the plan? Not that she wanted to turn back now... but it was a little worrisome that they were, in essence, flying blind right now. At least they had members that more or less knew where they were going, but it was suspicious that they were doing it pretty much without any sort of leader.
Saving her breath for running, the dark female forged on, past the guard post and into the darkness beyond, blending into the broken ground to put distance between the spying group and the outpost.

Saoi had been silent through the planning, being careful to do the best he could do at lying low, keeping his bright white fur from shining too brightly. While the others made plans, he rolled about in the dusty sand. By the time they were ready to go, the guards off chasing the birds, he looked quite huria-like. The idea didn't sit well with him, but now at least he'd blend in better with the dunes.
Resisting the urge to shake the itchy and heavy sand off himself, he loped along with the rest across the border. He made sure to mind his footing, and as he watched his red toes flash one two one two...a thought came upon him. "Footprints! Won't we leave footprints?" It was too late now. There wouldn't be time to go back and dust them all out now, would there? Grimacing, he jogged on. If they couldn't hide their passing... "Better move faster then, since once they see those they'll know someone came through."
