"You like Jazz and bluegrass? I could see what I can wrangle up! CDs are definitely cheaper than whole instruments, ahahaha. We definitely... should do something together sometime, though. Not on-duty." He continued to strum, finally offering it out to Jordan again if he wanted to give it another go.

"Jazz, bluegrass, folk, soul - Grandpa used to say I'd been born too late as far as my taste in music went." Jordan smiled a little, remembering his grandparents. "I'm more of a singer than a player, really." Then he remembered suddenly about Jerry's musical project and eyed the other man warily.

Thankfully for Jordan, the quiet reminiscing about grandparents had made his quiet, staring down at the offered ukulele before pulling it back into his lap, "Yeah.. I didn't really get exposed to much newer stuff until college. My Gran got irritated by the radio unless it was oldies, ahahaha." his expression softened a bit as he stroked the plastic strings, "I miss her."

"Yeah, I miss Grandpa and Nana. We used to go to their house every Christmas when I was little." It had been - relatively - a quiet life then, not so difficult, even when the things in the closet or under the bed or anywhere else threatened. It felt like a long time ago, a world and an eon away.

Jerry could feel his brain dipping down into sad, depressed and distant lands, drawing in a deep breath as he wiped his eyes under his glasses, glancing back up to Jordan with a renewed smile, "So, I should make a shopping list, huh?"

"Probably," Jordan replied, easily going with the change in subject. The memories were bittersweet, but they could quickly grow sad. "Eggs, milk, flour, coffee - oh, wait, wrong shopping list."

"I should... probably text Sasha, tell her I'm awake," He cleared his throat, setting the instrument down to fish for his phone, "I um... wasn't... in the best frame of mind when um... " When she had found him, "When I spoke to her last. She might still be worried."

Jordan's smile faded, and he nodded. "You should probably tell her you're okay. Thanks for - " cheering me up, being normal with me, not making everything worse - "the music lesson. I'll definitely request another." He stood, tucking his hands into his pockets.

"You don't... have to go if you don't want to. I don't mind if you want to just... I dunno. Hang out?" He glanced to the door, "Despite what Harrison insists, she really is a wonderful lady." His eyes suddenly lit up, "Do you drum at all??"

Jordan hesitated, feeling distinctly awkward. Would Sasha want to see him, the way things stood? He didn't know. This uncertainty was exhausting. He didn't really want to talk about it, but the incident lay just under the surface in every conversation with certain people. He and Jerry had silently agreed to leave it alone, but the negotiation would begin again when Sasha arrived.
He was really getting tired of being apologetic about something he hadn't done.
You should go talk to him.
I know I should. "I do draw my own conclusions about my acquaintances," Jordan said aloud, lightly. "No, I'm afraid I don't drum. That involves coordinating too many appendages at the same time."

Jerry deflated, looking disappointed, "Not even bongos?" They could jam together, he had thought... at least once Sasha got her flute back.
For all he knew, Rep had thrown it out to sea.
The thought made his stomach clench, "I... I should probably um. Continue cleaning up and stuff but... but it really was... good. Talking to you I mean. Um. Thank you. Fr coming over. I hope um. I hope you feel a little um... better?" There was no feeling better. There was just... moving forward.
What was done was done and there was no undoing it. Just try to keep your own nightmares to a minimum.

"Well, I guess bongos are simple enough." Jordan nodded. "Yeah I do feel a little better. See you later?" The little uncertain upward tilt of his voice made it into a question without his having meant to do so. He ducked his head, offered a smile, and turned to go.

"Take care of yourself, Jordan," Jerry offered gently behind him, "First and foremost. If.. if you ever need anything or just... want another lesson come find me any time, okay?"

"Thanks. I will," Jordan answered, something tight in him easing a little. "You too."
