Competing with the applause, the speakers continued to blare out random chord progressions being played by the bassist as an effort to keep the momentum and energy building, allowing the lead guitarist to finish relaying the next song. Once everyone was in aggreeance, the bass went dead and the lead guitarist picked up with a fierce power-slide across the stage as his guitar rang out with an equally showy riff and the band dived into the next song, hoping to send the audience awash in fresh waves of nostalgia as Talymn took to the mic again.

"Oh~! I thought love was only true in fairy tales~!
Meant fer someone else, but not fer me~!"

His smile held something of a wistful glimmer as he continued through the first verse. One of the best covers by yet another band that went sorely missed in the rocker troll's opinion and this cover of a cover was also sorely missing that influential keyboard that SmashMouth's version wielded with harmonious perfection. Man, he really wanted the Major back.

"Then I saw yer face~!
Now I'm a believer~!
Not a trace~!
O' doubt in my mind~!
Ooh, I'm in looove~"

Practically cradling the mic-stand at that point, Talymn was taken by surprise when the lead and second guitarist came up on either side of him, leaning their backs against him as they both harmonised for the back-up vocals, obviously just going for a bit of random fun. He went along with it smoothly enough.

"Oooh~ Aaah~"
"I'm a believ'ah- I couldn't leave ya if I tried~!"

Pip swallowed hard, trying to calm down. He tried to convince himself that this chick wasn't out to hurt him...she wouldn't do anything so rash out in public, in front of her hundreds of adoring subjects.. Right? He stumbled a bit as she slapped him on the back, and suddenly she was there, right there, in his face. He could feel her cool sea dweller skin, he could practically smell the scent of the ocean on her, she was so close. Despite that, he stood perfectly still in her grasp, even relaxing a little. A timid laugh escaped him, and he gave her a wide-eyed smile.

"Oh, of course. Your project, hmm."

He thought about it for a moment. Of course everyone would be a yes-troll for the queen. In theory, rebuilding OHC was a good idea, because it was pretty shabby looking....but.

"I'd say it sounds pretty good...for the sea dwellers. Hopefully no one who already lives in the city now will be displaced, but I'm sure you'd never do that, would you, your highness?" he asked, tone level, without a drop of sarcasm or malice. It was something that came to mind, though. Didn't quite a few trolls live in the rubble still?

BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bloodfest had proven rather uneventful so far for Byakko. She had wandered aimlessly around the grounds, refusing to partake in most of the festivities. She had no extra beetles to spend, so food was out of the question. Only the water balloon fight had sparked her interest; but that wasn't going on right now- and so the mutantblood continued her goalless wandering.

She hadn't seen too many of her new recruits, either; which Akko supposed could be a good thing, all in all considering the themes of Bloodfest. This whole trip was turning out to be a big waste of time; and Byakko's mood was souring. The corners of her lips trembled downwards ever so slightly; she was not pleased. Darting around a crowd of children who barely looked old enough to be away from their lusi, Akko somehow found herself pushed and forced into some sort of concert. Her expression of discontent turned into an all out frown as she found herself unable to get out of the unruly crowd. A highblood wailed lyrics into a mike, gallivanting around onstage with his band mates- Akko remained unimpressed.

Taking the first break in the mass of bodies she could find, Akko darted out of the crowd and into the alley the backs of various stands created. She let out a small sigh of relief- there was no time for such nonsense! Taking a split second to adjust her swimsuit, Akko looked up and noticed a warmblood not too far from her, apparently also seeking shelter from the madness that was Bloodfest. He looked familiar-- was he one of the new recruits? Byakko's face lit up scowl melted back into her usual deadpan expression. The more she studied Taquin's face- those glasses- the more she was certain he was indeed.

"Hello." She said simply, not quite sure how to greet him or what on earth she could even say. Despite this being exactly what she came here for Akko couldn't help but feel awkward and misplaced- although she certainly didn't show it.

Looking down the length of the alleyway, Taquin decided this was a wonderful place to hide throughout the festivities. He could travel behind these booths for quite a ways without anyone seeing him. Of course, the merchants probably used this pathway themselves quite a bit. He would have to watch out for them, but it wouldn't be too hard to hop up onto one of the more stable structures they sold their wares out of to get out of their way. On the other hand, he could just hang out in this little area near the stage, listen to the music, and bide his time until this band finished so he could catch his chance to meet them. There was so much to do tonight. He refused to let one little fin-face ruin his time here.

The loud cheering and blaring speakers behind him could almost cover up the sound of footsteps, but not quite. Suddenly on full-alert, Taquin spun around, expecting a tricky little seadweller to have cursed him with her presence once again. He took several steps back, ready to distance himself, but it turned out just to be another lowblood trying to escape the crowd. He let himself relax and hoped this girl hadn't noticed his jumpy demeanor. She didn't seem very surprised to find him here. In fact, she studied his face like she was trying to recognize him from some time they met before. Well, he certainly didn't know her.

As she greeted him so simply, Taquin wondered what she wanted from him. He didn't feel like messing with her, he just wished to be on his way. Besides, she looked boring. "Hi," he said back. Hopefully this wouldn't be much of a conversation and she would just leave him be.

As the lowblood spoke, Regina squinted at him with almost ridiculous concentration, then drew in a long hissing breath and rubbed her chin thoughtfully. There was no denying that as soon as the dust settled, Old Hemisect had been overrun with lowbloods of every type, worming their way into the ruins with barely a pause to chuck out the bodies of the previous residents. It did rankle a bit, the thought of her lovely seaside city infested with the little looting pests. As Piperi had so thoughtfully pointed out, she would have to do something. Regina nodded thoughtfully and gave his shoulder another playful shake.

"Yeeeeeaah, I can see what you mean, that might be something you lot would worry about, isn't it? What a thinker! Well don't worry, I may be queen, but I'm also well, queen. It's my job to look after all of you, now isn't it?"

Letting go of him, she spread her arms dramatically in front of her, as if sweeping across some majestic panorama, rather than the sight of a greenblood dropping a frozen lactation treat on her foot and bursting into tears. Looking at the queen though, you could see that rather than focusing on the world around her, her eyes were locked into some mental landscape playing out before her.

"And can't you just imagine it? The great dome of the opera house glittering in the moonlight, wide streets, lined with smooth stones brought up from the ocean floor, mebbe a nice big park with a fountain that looks like me and spits water out its nose in the middle. And lots of takeaway seafood stands. On every corner. Fix up the rides at the park, open that up again ..."

Climbing back down out of the pink foggy clouds of imagination into the world of reality, Regina darted a sly glance sideways at her companion.

"Of course, I'm not to good a thinker to tell you the truth. I got a few architects to help me, but the labour alone .... it's not gonna be something that will get done easy. So I'll be needing to rely on the help of my people. But I think .... that this'll be something everyone sees as worthy? We cant just let Old Hemisect crumble away to nothing, right?"

She couldn't help it. A small, shy smile pushed onto Vremea's face. She had been hoping the other troll would recognize her! They hadn't seen each other in so long, the yellowblood was afraid she'd forgotten. "Well hello, Minist! Its great to see you. My 'pretty bows,' are in my hive in the hivestem the Queen has created for these next few days, actually, I hadn't wanted to wear them outside today." Beetles were scarce, especially when it came to cloth of that rare material. She had to dip into her savings and buy new bows(her old ones got deep fried) so others wouldn't notice where they went. She hoped it wasn't too noticeable.

She didn't expect her to be worried about her, though. Vremea blinked at Minist, an uncomfortable feeling seeping into her body. She wasn't used to trolls being that close. "...I... got into a small dispute. It was nothing, really," She said, choosing her words carefully and dismissing the battle as if it hadn't cost her her appearence. Frowning as she remembered the day after she arrived home, she huffed. Oh, that was a horrible day. Her hair was a mess, she looked like a walking mess, her smooth skin was scarred for Alternia's sake, and her body felt like she could drop dead at any moment.

And she had recived a letter from her boss the she had to return to work the next day.

She had just wanted to kick something.

A hand snuck up on her, spooking her out of her wits, pulling her out of her thoughts. She tilted her head to the side and one glance at her arms was all she needed. "Athene!" She tried to sound surprised. She squeezed the hand back reassuringly, a friendly yet almost unnoticeable smile appearing on her face before looking back towards Minist and then looking back at one of her best friends. She almost facepalmed. "Oh how awfully rude of me! I haven't introduced you to each other!" She pointed at her fellow yellow blood. "Athene, this is Minist Outill, a friend I met at the library. Minist, this is Athene Bramma, my tailor and very good friend. Oh, and the troll dancing over there," She motioned toward the red blood fondly, "Is my other good friend, Odette Cygnet." Vremea pressed her lips. "What brings you to Bloodfest?" She asked toward them, a curious expression lurking on her face. She didn't know about Minist, but she hadn't known Athene liked going the beach! If that was so, they should go more often when high bloods weren't around. Maybe Odette, if she wasn't feeling too under the weather or working?

As music suddenly erupted in the background, Vremea couldn't help but turn her head towards the stage. Although she couldn't see the band very well, the music was catchy and the singers voice complimented the song, adding a playful tint to it. She needed to remind herself to later go and see if she could check them out from afar.

Minist's eyes shifted to Athene as she slipped in next to Vremea. She was almost as pretty as the yellowblood. However she seemed rather. . . suspicious. Then they were introduced to each other and Minist gave her a cheeky smile. Then her eyes were drawn back to the dancing redblood. Vremea certainly knew plenty of trolls here! She hadn't expected her to be so social. At her question she returned her attention to the yellow and greenblood. "I couldn't miss all of the fun and games! Besides, it's always cool to see the queen." she said with a laugh. "And of course it's great to run into some friends." she added with a wink.

BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Byakko's eyelids fluttered slightly with an unreadable expression as Taquin jerked and spun around. Had her simple greeting startled him that much? She guessed they probably weren't supposed to be squeezing through the backs of the merchant's stalls but, still. Why was the lowblood so on edge? Brushing it off lightly, Akko stared blankly back at Taquin, slowly measuring her response. His greeting had been just as curt as hers and Byakko was slightly put off by it- for some reason she had expected the redblood to say something of a little more substanance. Akko fumbled awkwardly for the appropriate words under her stony gaze.

There was another good half minute or so where Byakko stared seemingly blankly at Taquin. "Enjoying the festivities?" She eventually spoke, shifting weight to her opposite hip as she studied Taqiun's face. Yes, she was almost certain now that he was one of their new recruits. Akko was highly curious as to her new recruits views on the hemospectrum, obviously- and Bloodfest was the perfect oppertunity to judge said views. In theory, anyway... Akko still hadn't quite gotten the hang of that whole casual conversation thing.

She remained staring at him awkwardly after their exchange, and Taquin wasn't sure if he should wait for her to say something else, ignore her, or excuse himself from the situation. Well, even if she seemed boring, this redblood sure was... different. It wouldn't cull him to stick around for a few more minutes and learn what her deal was. He wondered idly where the scar on her eyebrow had come from.

"Enjoying the festivities?" she asked him, finally, as if casually breaking out of some sort of trance. Was she trying to focus her powers onto him or something? Who knows, maybe she was one of those rare types who could read minds or telekinetically screw with your bowel movements. Well, as far as he knew, it wasn't working. He studied her and moved his grubpop to the other side of his mouth, then realized it had completely melted and all that was left was the stick. Never removing his eyes from the redblood in front of him, he flicked it over his shoulder before he replied, "Briefly." Oh, how he hated small-talk. If she was trying to be friendly and polite, she was definitely failing at it with the way she stalled. "Was there something you were looking for back here?"

At the squint, Pip seemed to shrink back against himself, the movement almost akin to a turtle recoiling into its shell. He wasn't even an expert on it, because gog knew he didn't get out often, let alone to a place like OHC. It seemed interesting enough, but the ruins were also kind of creepy. Devoid of life other than the trolls who struggled to make it home, and that just wasn't the type of thing that interested the little orangeblood. He liked wide open spaces and grass beneath his feet. Even the lure of treasure failed to be a draw, if there was even any of it left. His head bobbled as she shook him, and he laughed uneasily.

"Yeah! I mean, I think so." he pondered. But then, as she let go to spread her arms, his eyebrows lifted and he couldn't help but find himself becoming a little glassy-eyed too. He willed himself to take that little journey with her, to imagine the lights, the smell of food cooking, to picture a city that wasn't a big ugly pile of crumbling buildings and debris. He couldn't help but give a soft snort of laughter at the fountain idea, and he didn't come out of it until she had, until she was looking at him again.

"Not a good thinker? What you just laid out sounded pretty good. You have a clear vision. I'm sure if you approach it the right way everyone already living in the city itself would be glad to help out." he said after a long moment of thought. Really, his instincts told him that if the place was rebuilt, well...it seemed like it could easily become a highblood sea dweller hotspot like the Four Fronds was. But he'd already said something to that effect. Of course that would happen...a city built by a sea dweller would inevitably attract more of them. "Like you said, it's an important location. It wouldn't do to let it waste away."

He blinked a little as his lusus finally seemed to return, and the little beast fluttered down to nestle in between his horns. He only laughed, saying nothing to his father and keeping his attention on the queen. "I gotta say, I was surprised to see you in the crowd with the rest of us. Shouldn't you have a bodyguard or something?" he asked rather innocently, tilting his head as he looked up to watch a few drones off in the distance behind Regina.

Kamileunaire

About to go off on another tangent about Old Hemisect, Regina's train of thought was jerked neatly off the rails and she swung around to look Pip straight in the face. The snort she made was dismissive, and more than a little contemptuous. Bodyguards, what did he think she was? Some little wriggler who could barely swim?

"Pfft what? You think a troll like me would need a bodyguard? Let me tell you one thing buddy, that you should always remember. I didn't get to be queen by going round hugging nobody. If you ever see me around with a bunch of big bulky drones, they're there to protect you, not me."

Her index finger jerked out and prodded the lowblood in the chest to emphasize the you, then her thumb jerked back against her own chest to drive the point home. The good humour that had flowed back into the queen when she had talked about her plans for the city had ebbed and she was looking far less friendly then she had a moment ago. Bodyguards! It hadn't been meant as an insult, but she could sure take it as one. If there was one thing Regina knew she didn't need, it was someone to look after her.

BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

'Briefly'. Byakko's lips twitched slightly at the corners, barely noticeable to even the most keen of eyes. well, that was hardly an adequate response. And here she was, trying to socialize and make conversation and everything! Byakko's face remained expressionless, although her firm gaze on Taquin's face did break briefly in order for her to watch him toss the remains of his candy onto the ground. Littering, tcch. Disgusting.

Well, she couldn't really blame him for his equally stony responses, could she? Akko was hardly the conversationalist herself, perhaps it was a trait shared by most lowbloods. As Taquin questioned her Akko couldn't help but prickle slightly; who was he, the back-of-the-stands-alley-police? Even so, his question was fairly harmless. Ever expressionless, Akko slowly collected her words before opening her mouth to speak.

"I was looking to get out of the crowd." She replied simply, muscular shoulders jerking in a shrug. Akko was very uncomfortable being questioned; heck, any discussion on herself personally made her squirm for one reason or another. "Yourself?" If he could question her, she could do the same, right? Although she supposed his answer was probably along the same lines as hers, (and even if it wasn't, how would she know the difference?), Akko asked anyway.

Taquin pondered momentarily on keeping the truth away from this new stranger, (this was his usual course of action for the ones he knew nothing about) but he reasoned that there wasn't much of a purpose in wasting his energy on weaving some wondrous fable for this simplistic troll. "I'm doing my utmost to avoid a certain undesirable someone," he said. Of course he wasn't going to reveal the entire truth to her. That privilege was reserved.

He glanced once more into the crowd and found Khanda nowhere in sight. No one was paying attention to this secluded back street, and the booths on either side cast a shadow over the two of them. It was safe to distract himself for a little while. The music still pounded in his sponge clots, though it sounded farther away than when he was in front of that dazzling stage. "So basically, I have the same goal as you." He leveled his eyes back at the girl in front of him. "You're not one to enjoy the swarm, I gather?" he asked her, referring to deluge of boisterous fans she'd shoved through to arrive in front of him.

BYAKKOx MAWIYAxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Byakko nodded in solemn understanding at Taquin's desire to hide from 'a certain undesirable someone'. While she probably over exaggerated his situation in her head just a little bit, Akko knew exactly what that felt like- that had practically been her life's mantra after all. She watched him glance out into the crowd, measuring his facial ticks in mild bewilderment as Taquin presumably scoped out the trolls around them.

Akko's eyes reconnected with his, and she was once again questioned. This one wasn't so bad, heck, it had probably been obvious enough to Taquin that she was desperate to escape the sea of gray bodies when she burst out of the churning crowd into the alleyway. She shrugged unenthusiastically once more. "Not particularly," she said, taking her own turn to glance out back to the band's captive audience. "Especially things like that." Akko snorted shortly, gesturing to the general direction of the stage. It wasn't the music she had a problem with, not at all; just the overall showboatyness and waste of time, space, and beetles. The things highbloods preoccupied themselves with while countless warmbloods perished for the most miniscule of reasons...

While the conversation (barely) flourished for a few moments there, Byakko soon found herself standing perfectly still, silently and awkwardly locking eyes with the orangeblood once more. What now? 'Hey, remember that one time you guys killed that jadeblood'? Akko's lower left lid twitched ever so slightly. "So what do you make of this whole 'Bloodfest' thing?" Akko finally spoke, arms dropping loosely to her sides as she faintly fidgeted. It was a tad odd the Queen was hosting it, wasn't it? "It's my first one." She added quickly; the mutant thought it made a decently subtle excuse for bringing it up. Besides, it was the truth. Akko's gaze broke momentarily back to the crowd as there was a sudden burst of applause, but her unwavering stare soon returned to Taquin's tinted glasses.

An eyebrow was raised for a moment at her gesture towards the audience. Things like that? Did she mean the music, the presenters, the enthusiastic fans? Perhaps this troll didn't know a juicy source of entertainment when she saw one. In any case, she was finally starting to open up. Taquin might as well keep this tide of conversation flowing along smoothly. "Well," he began. "I believe the festival was a good idea at the time -the celebration of every caste across the hemospectrum, and all that-, however... So far it has turned out to be quite the disappointment." Really, the music was nice, but everything else had failed to impress him. It could have been any holiday fair, as far as he was concerned. The merchandise was over-priced, the lowblood street performers were under-appreciated, and the seadwellers were supercilious prats. He didn't trust the queen's intentions, either. She wanted this to seem like this was some uniting event for all trolls, but Taquin believed that she was only in it for the fun and games. It was all very childish.

He didn't explain this to her, though. He kept it at that, and measured the redblood's reaction to see if she was intrigued enough to ask him to continue. It was tiring to waste one's breath on some thick-panned dullard. The way this chick stared, Taquin couldn't tell if she was quite intent on their little dialogue or if she was just dumb.
