When nothing had come up to rear its ugly head, Dakota took the last few steps towards the door and held his breath. His eyes remained on the ground as he stepped in....

Cass looked back towards the stairs when Jordan called back to them, taking a moment to take in that it was only Jordan at the bottom of the steps (+children, but) before....
"I SAID NOT TO SPLIT UP FOR ANY REASON." Cass's voice went into a high pitched shrill tone of hysterical proportions. Dakota was now upstairs alone. Dakota could have been in danger for being upstairs alone and sjlksdafhfas;dklfjdsaflksdfjhas;dfkjha;sdljkf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her sudden building panic was obvious, especially when her attention actually went to the children, Cass looking at them before she drew back a few steps, squinting.
"Who are they?" she asked, giving them a very suspicious look.

"We couldn't send them downstairs alone," Jordan said. "Dakota's capable; we figured I'd come back up to help him after bringing the kids downstairs. We found them outside a room upstairs; they say a monster in the room got their friends and they can't leave." He looked back at the kids as they hid behind him. "It's okay. My friend is just kind of nervous. It's a pretty spooky house, isn't it?"

"You could have come back down together...." Cass mumbled, the stress of the atmosphere starting to show - slight tremors in her hands, a itchiness to her movements, irritation.
"It's easy to think someone can handle something, but we don't even know what is in the house." There was a somewhat frantic look on her face and it was probably more obvious to Jordan that she was having to take some effort to not suddenly turn her weapon on them and start making accusations.
They're like a picture of a little you, Cassandra.
