Selene was never sure of
anything. And yet, for like, all of a minute, she had been sure of this decision. Then she watched Tarot and Arcana, and her eyes welled up with tears.
"Wwell now wait a minute.." She tried to whisper out, hesitating instantly when she saw them get ready to part ways. That was wrong! They couldn't, they just
couldn't, Arcana needed her! Why.. why.. why.
Tarot turned to her, and Selene's tears were free flowing down her cheek. She didn't like this one bit, and her tiny, crunched up form looked up at the ghoul with desperation in her eyes. Come with us, those eyes said. Arcana needs you. She wouldn't be enough. She would never be enough.
She felt the kiss on her forehead, and crunched her eyes up tight to press all the tears out. Then she looked up at Tarot again, and her head ducked as she blushed from the whisper. Truth be told, she felt the same - but her feelings for Arcana weren't going to keep him safe.
Arcana took her hand, and squeezed it. She felt a funny rush of feelings tickle her entire body at the motion, and she liked it very much, so she turned to curl into him, and made the feeling last and last. She rolled her eyes when she heard his self-sacrificing sentiment, and her lower lip stuck out in a pout.
"Now, now, Arcie. That is very selfish." Her voice sounded chastising, as if she was telling him he was being naughty. And she wasn't really thinking about the consequences of her words, as she watched Vanth walk away, and continued to murmur in a distracted tone. "You cannot ask me to love you any less than you love me, and so, if you are in trouble, I will try to protect you. I will not be able to do as good of a job as your sister, though. So you may want to reconsider being with me." She patted his chest with one palm, still without looking at him. "You need to stay safe, too."
She seemed to have no idea of the enormity of her statement.
