Servine flicked her tail and smiled winsomely at the Umbreon with her nose in the air.
'Get it right, it doesn't make me bossy if idiots won't take advice.'
She stopped and looked over the Croconaw critically, really ready to rip into him verbally - her own revenge for that exact freezing. Who said Shuppet where the only ones who carried grudges?
'I bet it was big Feraligatrs that beat the snot out of him everyday. Is that were you got all those ugly scars, fang-face?'

Servine laughed, a musical sound and she fanned out the leaves on her tail now, demurely shading her face. It was probably just that Argos brought the worst out of pokemon, especially the females with a bit of sass to them. Or maybe it just ran strong in the Snivy evolution line.
'Oh dear, you poor baby. Or are you afraid you'll still be weak and nasty looking even if you evolved?'

Confused and woken with a start, Nolan forgot his dream to the sounds of his Gyarados using some sort of pokemon speech. He sucked in a startled breath. That was when he knew that Dosu was still very much the same Magikarp that Nolan had known since childhood, his connection to Dosu renewed. The Gyarados sounded nearly the same as Dosu had before he evolved, except, y'know, a Magikarp's voice isn't that deep and rumbly.

Nolan was going to get up to find something new to do with his pokemon, but it was strange, because it looked like a bunch of Chael's and his pokemon were deep in a heated conversation. He didn't want to interrupt them, but it was weird being the odd-man out of a conversation. If only if it was possible for Nolan to learn their speech.

It looked like there was an argument going on between Nolan's Servine and Chael's Croconaw, which was settled with Nolan's Gyarados stepping in. Des lit another cigarette as he started walking back towards the beach, Blue trotting beside him.

Both of the brats were awake now. One from the argument, the other from a call stating that his fossil was ready. "I'm going to head back inside. I'm not too fond of the beach. Too many bitter memories... You guys keep enjoying yourselves." he said as he passed the two kids.

"That's a good idea. Be right back." Chael said as he got up and out his shirt, socks, and shoes on. The heat had dried him well enough and there was more rocks instead of sand here. So it wasn't uncomfortable. With a loud whistle, he summoned all six of his team, before marching off to the Pokemon Center.

Once he was there, he changed Aiden out for Lizzy. He didn't need to level up to know any more moves in fact. So he was all set! He returned his team before walking outside, only to send out his Zebstrika. She neighed affectionately, as she nealt down so her trainer could get on. Chael held on as they raced across the desert. He felt like it was one of those scenes in a movie. Except instead of a horse, it was a zebra.

 To Valerian's Lab

By the time that Chael made it back, all the way from Blyse and the Lab, Nolan was collecting sticks, twigs, and a dragging few large pieces of a dried driftwood to stack into a fire. Candlejack, not liking this heat at all, stayed in the shade but watched eagerly, waiting for his turn to light the fire for that evening. His Aron was using his newly learned Metal Claw to cut apart the largest pieces of wood, helping Nolan push and pull the campfire into place.

Seeing Chael and his new turtle, Nolan felt a twinge of regret about Torkoal, but it was all for the best. He only needed one fire pokemon. Standing, and brushing his hands off on his pants - by now Nolan was just down to his grey pants, having rolled them up like the Ranger hand, walking around barefoot.
"Oh wow, is that your pokemon you got from a fossil? It looks like a tank on legs."

"What does a Feebas look like? I known what a Scyther is, and I don't blame you for wanting one of those."
Inspecting his work, and finally satisfied that the tinder would do, Nolan gave the signal, pointing at his Litwick. Candlejack hopped up, aimed carefully, and used a Flame Burst, the fire flaring up an eerie purple before it caught and turned the normal red and orange of fire.

Changing the subject again, his mind all over the place, Nolan asked,
"So what do you think of the name Gojira for Aron? I looked up his evolution, and he looks totally like a Godzilla to me. Or maybe Aggrodon, or Bossu. I think I have the opposite problem for Aron. There's too many names I like."

Kicking aside a few stray sticks with his toes, Nolan made a neat pile of the kindling and extra wood to feed the fire. Pulling out his canvas wider, tying off the rope to hold it open better, and moving his bag out beside him, Nolan had a pretty simple but decent campsite set up by now.

Nolan adjusted his salt speckled glasses, and looked hard at the Feebas, and inhaled sharply when Chael showed him what the sorry looking fish evolved into.
"That's exactly like how Gyarados and Magikarp are. They start out super common and weak, but if you train them just right they evolve into strong sea serpents. Man, I would love to study a Feebas and Milotic. Dosu is the only Water type I'll ever need, but you gotta let me when you catch one."
Nolan sounded honestly excited. I mean, how could he not? Chael had just showed him there's another pokemon that is extremely similar to his favorite evolution line.

Catching on to the excited tone of her trainer, Servine trotted over to get a glance at the Milotic on Chael's pokedex. She snorted. She was going to evolve into something even more beautiful and powerful, and any Grass Snake could whoop some water twerp. Argos just had been lucky.

Nolan shook his head after he glanced at Chael's pokedex.
"I've never seen anything like that before, but it looks very ... um, cool."
Chael didn't want to use the word 'cute', remembering a certain girl who used that word much too often for her own good. For that matter, Nolan wondered where Kiera had gotten to. Chael would probably like her alright, and he knew Servine was missing her treats.

But getting back to business. Scratching the back of his neck, now Nolan had another question for Chael that was burning in his mind.
"Just how many pokemon are you planning on capturing? Isn't six enough?"
