Kytara had been up for a few candlemarks before the humming began. The excitement and anxiety had been building in her chest since the touching and threatened to spill out if not properly channeled. So she wrote. As the humming began she jumped to her feet. This wasn't her first hatching, so the routine had become well known. She hurried to pull on her robes and shuffled into line before the words were fully out of the candidate masters lips. She glanced around for Selene. She hoped with all her heart that they both walked off of the sands today with a dragon. She wasn't sure she could take walking off of the sands alone again. Seeing the red-haired woman she flashed her a nervous smile.

N'varmine. MINE! Hurry! The eggs! N'var grumbled sleepily and rolled over trying to bury his head. Novath however seemed to have other plans for the young man. With a sigh he readjusted himself and tried again, beginning to lose patience. MINE YOU WILL GET UP NOW AND COME WITH ME! Kytara needs us. The eggs are hatching! That seemed to do the trick as the bluerider sat up with a jolt and looked around. "What? Now?" Yes. Can you not hear it? Quickly the man tossed some clothes on and the pair glided down to join the others. As he found a seat he glanced across the sands until he found the familiar blonde hair he had been searching for. Good luck little sister.

As they filed onto the sands and split apart she moved to stand next to Selene, needing the reassuring presence of the tall girl. She watched in delighted awe as the eggs began to split open and dragonets began to spill onto the sands and find theirs. Her eyes fell on the green that had spillled from the Quiet Pool egg as she flopped down, seemingly content to wait for a while before finding hers. Kytara smiled and quietly urged her not to keep them in suspense as the newly hatched green regarded them all with a critical gaze.

A small part of Narisa eased as the first hatchling, the green, wandered through the girls and made the first Impression. Her lips curled into a big smile at seeing the new green pair. Good. That was good. And maybe, it was a sign that she really had been overreacting just a bit in her fears. Though not over Brakiath.
Cepheith was delighted to see the hatchlings! She hummed approval and encouragement to all of them, eyes drifting over the eggs that had yet to hatch to the hatchlings lumbering around on the Sands. Have faith. The young ones will be fine. And we are here for Brakiath should she need us.
Or they needed the assistance of another gold. Narisa tried not to let her thoughts head that way again. And the little blue almost pouncing on His was a good distraction. She laughed, running her hand along the smooth gold hide of her own lifemate. "It's so exciting to watch, I admit. I remember how nervous I was standing down there." And she could also see the difference almost painfully clear in her mind's eye between the two Hatchings she'd been to. "All is going well too. The Candidates seem to be listening to what their Candidatemaster told them."
The gold rumbled softly in agreement beside her. Or around her, since Cepheith's large body was curled comfortably along the Sands off to the side. Narisa stood within her protective 'U' shape.
Another has hatched, mine!
Narisa shook her head and looked towards the newest green. A slight frown formed as she chewed at her lower lip. Hopefully they wouldn't have to deal with a hatchling fight.

S'ren had to chuckle at Lena's remark. "Perhaps just a bit. I suspect she'll be taking a nap once she's properly fed." Those first few hours had been a very special time... Not that now was any less special, of course.
The next green out on the Sands seemed to very much disapprove of her sister's apparent plan for a nap. Understandable enough, but amusing nonetheless. Seemed like she might be one to make sure her siblings stayed in line.

It seemed that to the haughty hatchling's eyes being sleepy right now and taking a nap was certainly not okay and when her sister merely looked at her placidly and gave a calming little trill the judgmental green puffed up her chest, huffed out a irritated sigh and marched towards the sleepy green. Upon arrival she queried her with a series of chitters to which the sleepy green replied calmly enough. Whatever had been said between the two seemed like it was not satisfactory and the haughty green lowered her head and gave her sleepy sister a quick shove. Trilling serenely the other green toppled over on her side, but raised her head and climbed to her feet as her sibling continued to pester her. once moving forward she was 'escorted' quickly through the candidates before plopping down with a sigh in front of Kytara. While her sister stared at the red head calmly the haughty green eyed her critically for a few long drawn out moments, eyes narrowed slightly before a snort of approval was given and the haughty green marched off through the rest of the female candidates on a mission of her own. She didn't seem to notice if she trod on a foot or two as she went either. Peering up at Kytara the sweet green cooed at her as her sibling marched off. 'Kytaramine, my sister says you must feed me now. I don't know why she was in such a hurry. I knew you were here all along'

Roeline couldn't help it; she had to giggle. That newest green was just so insistent of getting her sister to find her partner. It was cute, in an amusing way. She didn't imagine such a personality would have much trouble finding her own rider either. Which of the girls would it be though?

"Forget the Weyrlingmaster - that green's the one the rest of her clutchmates will have to answer to," Lena joked. It was hard to deny the sight of one dragon 'escorting' another along to Impression was rather a funny sight. But maybe the bossier green just wanted center stage for her own search and felt she couldn't proceed until her sister had made her choice?
--
E'lai chuckled along with most of the others, but he couldn't deny the haughty green was reminding him of his own green dragon. The one on the Sands seemed to prefer girls though. "It seems she might be a bit of a handful, yes."

So far, most of the hatchlings were adorable. Even the bossy green who was so insistent on her sister hurrying and finding her partner. She actually chuckled a bit as the bossy green seemed to have to look over the sleepy green's chosen one before giving her approval a bit grudgingly. It almost seemed like she was a slightly over-protective sister. It was interesting the way some of the hatchlings interacted with each other. Certainly it was much the same way most human reacted toward another.

"Didn't you know? Greens are just miniature queens," he replied jokingly. Obviously that was only true of a few very strong-personality greens, but said individuals certainly knew how to make an impression. "Though speaking of 'queens', did Kirel give you much trouble in being left behind?" S'ren asked the greenrider beside him. he knew the golden flitter could be rather willful when she wanted to be.

Akaya watched quietly, at least until the green found Hers, and only the more demanding green remained. "It's always so interesting to see their personalities so young," she said to S'koi, wondering vaguely if there was a song in it, somewhere. "Sleeth and Laith are probably about as different as the two greens who've just parted..." Of course, there were so many greens, it made sense there was rather a great variety amongst them all. No two dragons were exactly alike, even in voice and tone, she'd found.

"Mm, it certainly is. Every dragon is rather unique." He remembered his own first (and only) Hatching very well. Even back at the Touching the differences of the dragons inside the eggs had been rather obvious. "Hopefully each can find their match." Such was the reason that they had so many Candidates out on the Sands in the first place, but sadly even that didn't always seem to be enough. There still was the occasional dragonet who ended up going Between, for whatever reason.

Syn watched as the first dragons made their impressions and then made their way off of the sands. The girl head her breath whenever a hatchling passed her, hoping beyond hope that perhaps this would be her dragon. Yet, each hatchling passed and she felt her heart sink a little. But there's a reason for that. She told herself. Your dragon is still out there and when you impress you know the wait will have been worth it. The girl continued to think positively. There wasn't any point in getting worked up over what was not meant to be.
As the latest green made her impression, Syn smiled for the girl. She didn't personally know her, but she knew that every dragon and their rider was important. It was only if a dragon went between that she should really feel sad. Although she most certainly hoped that that would not be the case in this hatching. Sure they eggs may have been smaller and less impressive than some had hoped, but she knew that each one was precious. No matter what size, color, or shape her dragon might have, she knew she would be proud to impress once she did.
Syn was brought out of her thoughts as the green managed to step on her foot. It hadn't exactly hurt her, but it still hadn't been terribly pleasant. Repositioning herself to avoid any further trampling, Syn watched the green carefully. Wondering who she would impress.

As Syn moved away from her the little green stopped in her tracks and spun around - completely ignoring the fact that her sweeping tail nearly took the legs out from under a nearby candidate when she did so - really the girl should have moved. 'Synmine! Stop cowering so, come with your Gementh and let us show everyone how it is supposed to be!' The little green demanded of her new lifemate. She didn't give the girl much of an opportunity to resist either, prowling around to nudge her - lovingly but demandingly - towards the food tables.

Selene watched as the first batch of hatchlings broke from their eggs and found theirs. A small surge of joy spread through her as she saw that Kytara had impressed. She was truly happy for her newfound friend. The haughtier green had regarded her for a moment before it walked off slightly stepping on her foot. The taller girl winced slightly but didn't make a big deal of it. There were still quite a few eggs that needed to hatch and she needed to be patient.

Kytara smiled softly as the haughty green chastised and then escorted her sister forward. To some degree it reminded her of herself and her older brother N'var. Certain that the two hatchlings were well on their way to find theirs, she risked the chance to glance up in search of said older sibling. She could see him grinning down at her and she flashed a smile back up at him. Somehow knowing that both he and Selene were here to support her made her chest swell with happiness. Or...rather...no, that wasn't quite it. She had never felt this way before, as if she had been empty and now she was suddenly full. She looked back in shock, her blue eyes widening as they met the swirling faceted rainbow that belonged to the sleepy green. Kytaramine, my sister says you must feed me now. I don't know why she was in such a hurry. I knew you were here all along.
Tears threatened to spill as she dropped to her knees to hug the green tightly. Kytaramine....no...Ky'tmine. Ky't suits you better now don't you think? I'm sure of it. Ky't? Why so sad? I am here now. Your Hermith is here and we will never be alone again. We will always have each other. But we must get to business. I am hungry. Shall we? The small green rider stood and nodded, her hand ever present on Hermith's head. "Of course my Hermith."
++++
N'var stood and cheered loudly for Kytara as she impressed the seemingly sleepy green. He laughed and nudged whoever was closest, a huge smile plastered across his face. "See that? That's my sister!" On the ledge Novath snorted disapprovingly. Mine, hush. You are making a fool of yourself. With a chagrined smirk N'var slipped back into his seat and fell quiet again as he watched the pushy green quickly find her own bonded.

Syn stood for a moment in shock. She was about to respond but suddenly found herself being nudged in the direction of the food. "Okay, okay." She laughed happily. Gementh had found her! She had always wondered what it would be like to impress. The girl had thought up every scenario, imagined what her dragon might be like, what it might feel like to impress. Yet nothing could compare to the overwhelming joy that she felt at this moment. Even if Gementh seemed a little demanding, the girl knew that no other dragon would have done.
'Synmine! Why are you not over here yet?' The green demanded an answer.
Once again Syn found herself chuckling at the insistent green. "I'm coming." She told her sweetly as she hurried to catch up. She had a feeling that Gementh was going to be a bit of a handful.
