"'Am I sure'?" Izaya repeated with an incredulous sneer. "Well, it's not every day you see a man in a bartender suit come and have his pokemon attack you out of nowhere, is it? He kind of stood out."

He paused before taking his next mouthful, looking startled at Luke's next words. "He's...friends with them?" the man said. "Perhaps he's just waiting to earn your trust as part of some elaborate scheme. After all - oh, right, Team Rocket; that was the name - those guys seemed pretty skilled at infiltration. Other than the whole 'bartender suit' thing. I have no idea what's up with that. Maybe this guy's just an amateur."

"If he was found stealing from you and your friends, he would have been out-numbered. On the other hand, a lone trainer like me would have been easy pickings with no one else around," Orihara pointed out. "He may just be biding his time and getting information from your group until he can bring in his own group as back-up."

He shrugged. "You're right. There wasn't really much proof I could give, either. Isn't it ridiculous how simple it is to get away with crimes these days? Someone should do something." Sipping at the broth of his soup, he glanced over to check how Yuri was doing with his own meal.

Izaya almost choked as he set his bowl down. He watched with furrowed brows as Yuri spun the chopsticks between his fingers. Now the feminine-faced man was just mocking him. "Well if you already knew how to use them, you didn't have to waste my time and energy showing you how," he said, his voice full of contempt as he finished the rest of his broth. "And you never answered me about if Repede needs a bowl of his own. We can get one to go if you want."

Well that sort of contradicted... Was he an elaborate, masterful schemer who, having successfully infiltrated a group of trainers, was just waiting for the right opportunity to strike, or was he a bumbling amateur who couldn't even think to dress less conspicuously? Luke hadn't seen much of the guy, but from what he knew he didn't seem like the type to go around stealing pokemon, but then that was sort of the point of infiltration, wasn't it...

After a moment of quiet thought, he responded, "I don't know if there's anything I can do by myself, but I can talk to the others about it." They would want to know about it, anyway, if there was a chance that Shizuo was with Team Rocket.

Yuri blinked in slight surprise at the accusation, while looking at Izaya.

"Huh? I really didn't know," he said innocently.

With that, he lifted his bowl again and used the chopsticks to shovel some more noodles into his mouth.

"I'm just a quick learner," Yuri mumbled around his mouthful of food.

Izaya's question about Repede wanting his own bowl was met with a bark from the Growlithe.

"Repede isn't interested," Yuri then replied just before drinking the broth of his soup and setting the bowl down again, finished.

There was another bark and the man tilted his gaze down towards his canine companion? "Hm?" Seeing the expectant look on the dog's face, Yuri then reached over for an unused set of chopsticks, broke them apart, and handed them to the Growlithe. Repede dropped the plastic spoon he'd been holding and took the chopsticks.

Izaya blinked back at Yuri. "...Is that so?" he said after a minute. "Well; bravo, then. That's some talent you have there." And a little intimidating. If this young man could catch onto things that fast and that well, he would be difficult to fool in more crucial situations.

The grunt could only hope Yuri's interests remained as limited as they seemed to be for now. A love of food may have been enough to make the katana-wielder want to learn how to eat quickly, but Orihara figured it wasn't enough of a motivator to bring down Team Rocket. At least he hoped not.

"Right," the informant said, glancing with some disdain at the Growlithe on the ground. "I suppose he told you so." Another nut who figured he could understand his pokemon. Brushing off the concept, he reached for his wallet in the back of his pants and put the appropriate amount of money on the counter to pay for their soup.

Yuri was fiddling with more chopsticks. The Rocket grunt looked over with mild curiosity as he broke them apart and handed them to his pokemon. "...He doesn't want soup, but he wants chopsticks?" he voiced his thoughts aloud, not really expecting a proper or logical answer.

Turning back to the red-head who had spoken, Izaya feigned a look of hope. "You would do that?" he asked, putting on his best performance, but attempting not to over-do it. Reaching for Luke's hands and dramatically clasping them in his own would have probably resulted in some hilarious response, but he was supposed to be going for sympathy and seriousness here. That kind of behavior wouldn't do.

"I'd really appreciate it," he said finally, suppressing a smile at his inner-mind theater. "If you need any assistance from me, please let me know. I'd be happy to help." More than happy to bring down the beast in bartender's clothing. It would be a momentous occasion if Shizu-chan happened to die in the process, but Izaya wasn't about to get his hopes that high just yet. Still...maybe there had been some genuine optimism involved in the show he put up for Luke after all.

"Are you finished, Lukey-chan~? It's about time for me to get back to work, so I'm afraid I'll have to be going about now. It was a pleasure to see you again, though, as well as meet Yuri-puu, here."

Luke nodded, passingly surprised over how hard it was to be too enthusiastic about the ongoing battle against Team Rocket as of late. Lacking confidence didn't mean he had the right to stop doing what he could, though. "I've known people that had pokemon stolen," he said, staring into the murky broth of the soup, "so I can't just ignore it." He didn't exactly know what he could do, but if there was some kind of possibility his friends were at risk, he couldn't just wait and see what happened.

"Ah-- Yeah." He hadn't had a significant appetite on arriving and had been working slowly at the meal; the portion that remained was less than impolite, so he deemed it fit to stop. "I'll let you know if I find anything out, I guess." He just felt kind of... weird about everything. He didn't know if it was suspicion toward Izaya or a lack of suspicion toward Shizuo or his absence of the usual indignation and fervor at the thought of Team Rocket stealing pokemon or even a lingering discomfort over his reaction to Yuri's earlier threat or what. It was just weird. Everything was weird.

Having a fortune cookie placed in front of him, Yuri picked it up and looked sidelong at Izaya as he commented about Repede. Told him so?

"Naw," Yuri said, brushing it off. "It's just your imagination."

Opening the plastic wrapper around the the cookie, he smirked a little when the chopsticks were brought up. "That's just Repede," he said with a hint of amusement before cracking open the cookie.

He listened quietly to the words that Luke and Izaya exchanged next to him. A half of a cookie being popped into his mouth. He munched thoughtfully and then ate the other half.

When it seemed that they were about ready to go, Yuri then opened the slip of paper that had been inside the cookie.

"Be sure your sins will find you out." This drew a raised brow and he crumpled up the paper and plastic. "What the hell kind of fortune is that?" He then rose from his chair to toss the fortune and it's wrapper into a nearby garbage can.

"Ready to go Repede?" The Growlithe looked up with the chopsticks hanging out of his mouth and barked in affirmation.

Nodding in a sympathetic manner, Izaya gave no indication of just how much he knew, including which friends Luke was referring to and what pokemon had been stolen from them. He'd already been forced to give back his own stolen pokemon, but it seemed, at least, that Izumi still hadn't suspected him. Probably thanks to Jerome.

"Thanks. Here's my number if you need to reach me for whatever reason." He held up his smartphone for Luke to see. "You can pass it on to any of your friends, too, if it helps."

Looking over at Yuri, the Rocket frowned in confusion. If he wasn't pretending to understand Repede, why had he bothered speaking for the pokemon? And 'that's just Repede' - what kind of answer was that? People these days...

"That sounds more like an omen than a fortune," Izaya agreed, chuckling at Yuri's reaction to the fortune. "Better take care."

"Ah, right..." He unpocketed his pokedex and navigated the menus, inputing the given number into the messaging application and sending it a blank text to transfer his own contact. It seemed that the haphazard group was ready to part ways, and he stood, frowning slightly at the fortune Yuri read aloud. Weren't fortunes supposed to sound, well... fortunate? What a way to put a downer on someone's day.

It was kind of a downer, but it didn't seem to affect Yuri any.

"Yeah well, good thing I don't rely on fate."

He just shrugged the whole thing off with a smirk.

"Thanks for lunch, but I think Repede and I are gonna run."

With that, he and the Growlithe started heading for the door. Although he did pause to glance back over his shoulder. "You comin' Luke?"

"Yes...fate," Izaya murmured faintly, thinking on Yuri's words. "Too many people don't take responsibilities for their own actions...and then, of course, 'fate' is to blame. The notion is nothing more than an invented scapegoat."

He frowned for a moment before smiling again and acknowledging Yuri's thanks with another amiable nod.

When Yuri paused to ask after Lance, though, as if expecting him to follow as naturally as Repede, the informant stiffened. Other than that, however, his face and expression remained unchanged.

"You're very welcome. I'm glad I got the chance to meet you, Yuri-puu," he replied cheerfully. "And, as always, it was a pleasure to see you again, Lukey-chan." He winked and checked the time on his phone. "Oh...looks like I have a few minutes after all. I think I'll stay here a while."

Izaya sat at an empty table and waved farewell to Yuri, Repede, and presumably Luke before turning back to check his mail and messages on his phone. As if he had friends. People to talk to. But even his own partner had been out of touch lately.

There was something to be envied about the closeness of a friendship, but...Izaya needed to keep up the wall around his heart. Besides being necessary for his job, it was something he did to protect himself. Aila's death was proof he had to be more vigilant than ever before.

Luke was somewhat surprised by the address, called on as if it were nothing less than expected for him to accompany. He didn't really have any desire to linger, though, so he departed from the counter, "Yeah." He turned slightly as Izaya spoke and returned the words with a brief nod, a slightly raised hand, and an earnest "later" before following after Yuri. He assumed there'd probably be a 'later,' anyway, given that he'd said he would look into a matter that concerned the man. It was an odd set of circumstances, after all...
