Mort might've heard something about elements and water and fire and combining things, but it was hard to concentrate on what specifically Bella was saying: between the sights around them, the smell of her hair, the sound of the wind in his ears, the warmth he held in his hands, his mind, his -
- stomach was suddenly in his lungsldkfjladkfjalksjfkasjflkadjflajdslkjdsljwhy were they going down oh sweet Sally helphelphelpdlfkjalkdgjflkasdjafljdglvjalg -
Mort clung as tight as a frightened cat and did so for the rest of the ride without any of the sexy thoughts he had previously. Screw air-pockets. S-Screw them, man. Had he shouted? There was a slight ringing in his ears, so probably so. s**t. So much for manly . . . Mort didn't say a word until his feet touched the ground, whereupon he shakily got off on legs that felt like jelly and shook a bit. "Graaaaaaaa," he groaned, patting himself down to make sure he hadn't literally lost anything - little dip or not, the shift in altitude had done a lot to make him paranoid of a fall. Or losing an internal organ. Or a piece of flesh. Luckily it seemed he had everything in tact still - even the pillow made it!
"D-D-Don't do again," Mort whined at her like it was her fault, picking his seat cushion off the ground and dusting it off. He still felt the adrenaline coursing through him, making his fingers twitch. At least they made it to Scrubway okay. "N-Not easy trusting on stick n' air . . ." He sucked in a breath and sighed; alright, it was out of his system. For now. Until they had to get back on the broom again at least.
He shuffled to the front door and held it open for her, the smells of food assaulting his nose. The growling of his stomach at least told him that that organ was still working. There wasn't a line at the time, thankfully.

Once on the ground, the witch clutched the broom to her chest and watched the zombie boil whine for the first time she knew of. It made her feel horrible. Not only had it been her idea to go flying, but it had been her that had caused the drop. If she had just kept her mind to herself, everything would have been just fine. SHEESH."I am truly sorry." The witch said as she scuttled after him toward the restaurant. "We can walk back. Or take a bus or something... We don't have to fly." Her eyebrows crinkled up before him, but a soft cough behind her reminded the witch was in line. "Oh. OH. You go first." She pushed Mort forward and stared up at the menu. After he ordered, Belladonna hopped forward and placed her order, making sure that they put plenty of vegetables and no meat. The witch would have to make her practiced speech of 'Its OK You Eat Meat, So Don't Feel Bad If I Choose Not To', but that was after. Still feeling a little bad over the whole thing, she shuffled forward and paid for their meal before she looked up at Mort. "You want to go back or eat here?" There were plenty of tables open and no rush, plus the witch was a little hungry herself. "Oh let's just stay." Together they commandeered a table by the window so the witch could distract herself from staring too much. Though, now that they were face to face, it was time for conversation... Erm... "So! What's your family like?!" Belladonna blurted before she promptly blushed and tore a bite from her sandwich. Maybe if she just kept her mouth full she wouldn't be able to make anymore mistakes?

Mort's order had a generous portion of braincon, grilled cockatrice, and rancid dressing, and the way he eyed his meal made the worker cough uncomfortably - she only relaxed when he paid for the wrap and was walking away, tearing the paper off before taking a large bite off seconds before he took the seat across from Bella. Buttered Fingers were good, but nothing compared to an actual meal. He tried to tell her it was alright now, only he forgot that he was actually eating and almost spat a few chunks on her in his haste.
Chew. Chew. Chew. Swallow.
Second verse, same as the first. "Shouldnt've overreacted either," Mort reconciled with a shake of his head, much calmer now that he was getting real food in his stomach. "Like said, zombie'sre . . . earth, you say? Is appropriate. Unless has wings, n-not good combo." He wondered how the other species got their elements, though, since the first demon he'd ever met was of the ice variety, and Gene didn't really make him think of water. Or maybe he was just reading too much into it again.
Another giant bite, chew chew chew chew swallow.
"Family? Er . . . Is adopted. Mama works for telemarketing. Gregory, younger demon brother, he's home schooled." That was the simple version of it all. He wasn't sure how in depth Bella wanted him to get. "You?"

Though she appreciated his kindness in the matter, it would take a bit more convincing than that to get the witch to fly them home again. Yet, she didn't have to worry about it at the moment as she instead focused on making sure none of her veggies got stuck in her teeth. Oh bleck, that would be terrible! "Have there been any undeads with wings? I don't think I've seen that..." Not that she was judging, the with was purely curious. Wings were nice, she was sure, but nothing quite beat the feeling of riding a broom with one's familiar perched on the front. It was lovely! As for family, maybe that wasn't the best topic to discuss over food. Especially when Mort questioned her on her own family. So instead of answering him right away, the witch took another bite, chewed carefully and swallowed. "Adopted? How interesting. Is your mother an Undead or a Demon? Was your younger brother adopted too? Do you think he'll ever attend Amityville?" The questions poured from her before she could stop them or even stop to consider that they may be rude. But for the witch, they weren't. They were just questions and if she offended, it was purely on accident. As for her own family, she took another bite and sighed softly before she told Mort about her witch and warlock parents, and her two older witch sisters. She told him how her family wasn't particularly fond of her since she was interested in plants and animals and being kind. But at the same time, they wanted her to succeed over her sisters so they pushed her harder then they had Delphinium (eldest) and Hemlock (middle). And unfortunately, since her leave of school, her parents had been almost militaristic about her success. Even Delphinium had got in on it and yelled at the younger witch plenty of times while she was still home (though Delphinium liked to hit below the belt too). It was only Hemlock that ever stood up for Belladonna, and that had only been recently. Before then, the middle sister had either ignored the girl, picked on her in passing or simply egged the eldest daughter on. After her little pity party, the witch turned a bright red. "But, uh, you didn't ask for that... Sorry." Best to just stick to asking questions...

"Ah, yes! Aymet is dracolich, undead dragon," Mort explained. "Saw could fly before. N' know Merope t-too, but, er, has fins, not wings."
And then he sat back and listened to her talk about her family as he devoured his wrap into nothing, wondering at the funny names they all had. At least Bella's name sounded reasonable (He had no inkling about the name theme)! Still, his brows knitted themselves together after hearing how strictly the family ran. "Why be so rough on you? Should be happy 'nuff is at Amity," he commented. "Family stays together, not fights . . . Mrrr, forget them; sh-should not say what must or must not be. Is person, not pet."
But Bells looked so bad about it nonetheless that Mort quickly took ahold of her questions about his family. "Gregory, er . . . doubt will come. Has special things with Mama, very much like b-big scareling, would not leave house ever. Is hunger demon with big appetite, so can see why has issues. Mama is a living doll, monster like Mei if have seen 'fore. Sh-She adopted us both about year apart." After First Mama abandoned me, he didn't add. "V-Very kindly, scatterbrained, likes cleaning too much. Think you would like her."

The witch paused to try and remember if she had seen either of those people, and thought she maybe remembered Merope, but the memory was foggy at best. Oh well. She accepted his word and filed away the information that yes, sometimes Undead did have wings. (And one day she would find them and thoroughly inspect those wings. Because wings were very pretty. Maybe they could be friends and flying partners and--) But then Mort made a lovely little speech about families and Belladonna couldn't help but sink lower into her seat. The Divine Family was large and while not powerful in the sense that they were involved in politics or held any sort of particular positions, they still retained a bit of a reputation. And it was expected of Belladonna to do well. To do her best. And coming home every few months because school was hard, was not her best. "I'm not a pet..." Belladonna mumbled in an echo that agreed with Mort, her pink eyes cast down toward her hands in her lap. It was easy to think like that here at school, with friends and people who care about you. But it was harder to say 'No' or even 'I'm not a pet' to her parents' faces, when really they only wanted the best for her. A diversion from her own thoughts arrived when Mort began to discuss his own family and the witch perked up to listen. She wasn't terribly fond of the way he was stuttering, especially about his mother. The witch pondered briefly over whether he had had another family before, or even just another mother, but felt that was much too personal to ask. "Goodness, that sounds very singular." The witch replied with a smile. She wasn't entirely sure of what else to say about his demon brother. "Did you two play video games together? Is he anything like you?" As for his adoptive mother, well, Belladonna was sure she would like her too. "She sounds lovely." The witch wondered what kind of creature was at once scatterbrained but liked cleaning and couldn't come up with much. She did do herself a favor and refrained from mentioning anything about meeting her. Not sure if that was proper etiquette or not, Belladonna decided just to play it safe. "She sounds like a princess from those old scary tales!" She liked to clean too much and was kindly. Classic scary tale princess. And those princesses were always scatterbrained, getting into trouble and having to be rescued all the time.

"She is, sorta," Mort agreed with a little grin. "Says she once m-modelled for magazine. Can't 'member which . . ." Really it was Mama that had set him on that fantasy of being a Death Knight: always having to help her around the house, being the oldest of the two kids, being showered with compliments whether he did a good job or not - Mama was a really spoiler. "N' Greg's alright at games, but he, er . . . has a temper. Once broke SkeV by punching it." Mama had given him a slap on the wrist and made him go to town to grab a new one; he wasn't really sure if his rather learned a lesson or not.
"So, er, r-ready to go?" He was finished at any rate. Something about this conversation was nagging him - not Bells, but the subject matter, the overt casualness. The memories in his room came to him suddenly, only it wasn't a ghoul with red hair, but one with white hair and curious eyes, who had also asked after his family, said she knew no-one else but him, had leaned in close -

"Oooohhhh~ A model?" The witch signed dreamily. "That sounds lovely." To be dressed up and made up and prance around in pretty clothes? It sounded like a dream! Belladonna had used to want to do that when she was younger, but now she realized there was only one sort of modeling she would have been able to participate in and well... That didn't really appeal to the witch. She'd just stick to taking care of plants and animals. "He broke the SkeV? My goodness..." Belladonna frowned down at her own hands, which were too small to punch anything very hard. His brother sounded almost like Hemlock, but in a different way. Hemlock wouldn't have punched the SkeV out of anger, but because it was "punk-rock" as she liked to call it. "Yup! All set!" Belladonna chimed as she took one last swig of her drink before she snatched up her remains and tossed them in the garbage. Her broom had been leaned against the wall behind them, so she grabbed it before they left (as well as threw a "Have a scary day!" to the person who had made their sandwiches). Once outside the building the witch held out the broom to Mort. "You sure you want to fly again?" She paused and bit her lower lip. "I promise not to hit any air pockets." Which made it sound like she had done it on purpose or that they were able to be found, which wasn't true for either case. "When we get back we can... Watch a movie or something?" Actually, the witch wanted a nap. She wanted a nap very badly. As for the nagging Mort felt, it was probably best Belladonna didn't know about all that. It would have certainly caused for a it more anguish on both their parts. And after such progress had been made, the witch wasn't sure she could deal with any anguish...

"M'fine for flying if don't mind b-being hugged to death," he answered jokingly, even if he was a bit nervous at the thought of encountering something else in the air that might have him screaming. He'd said he trusted her, damn it! Yelping didn't exactly cement that notion.
Mort kept his drink (having almost ignored it since he went straight for the wrap) and grabbed the pillow as Bells got her broom. He was pretty sure the worker gave him a funny look still when he said goodbye, but it didn't matter. The zomboil had been a bit anxious at the thought of being alone again and all too eagerly nodded his head at the thought of a movie. "Yeah, sure! Er, your place or mine?" The idea of spending extra time in the place he had all but been confined to was unappealing, but so was the thought of being in the same room as Binx . . . Then again, did it matter if he wasn't alone? "Don't r-really have movie selection," he added as an afterthought. "Could rent if need."
Right, like his wallet needed to be emptied out more.

"Well, if you're the one to do it, I guess that's a pretty ok way to go out." The witch answered with a laugh and a wink at the boil. She led him over to a small patch of grass where they'd have room for lift-off. "Alright then! Same as before, think light thoughts." She said as she swung one leg over the broom. She gave Mort a second to climb aboard, but paused. "I also think I should maybe get a kiss, for good luck." To this, she offered him her check and that same devil's smile. Lift-off was fairly easy, much slower then landing (if at all possible) and the witch felt the strain of lifting them rather than just keeping them afloat. Her hands gripped the handle a little tighter, but she managed to get them to an acceptable height and slowly moved them forward. The ride back would be a little longer as Belladonna promised herself to concentrate and keep it smooth, so she narrowed her eyes on their destination and didn't think about anything else. Except, well... "We can go to mine." It probably figured that the boil wouldn't want to return to his den of despair anytime soon. And pink was such a happy color! "And don't worry about Binx, he'll probably scatter when we start a movie." The kitty didn't much like the moving pictures. They toyed with his mind and ever though he knew they weren't real, they still moved and he wanted them. "I have lots of movies! A lot are kind of romancey, but I've got plenty of others... Um, let's see... Oh! Oh! I've got this great one about this guy who dresses up like a human and fights crime. Its called "The Human: The Rise of The Flesh Knight". Its pretty cool." Honestly, it was a little nerdy but Belladonna liked it regardless. And didn't Mort like nerd things anyways?

"Pffff~" She really was enjoying this, wasn't she. Well what was a second kiss anyway? He accepted the request and gave her a quick peck on the cheek before settling himself on the pillow cushion just behind her, smirking; hey, she didn't say how long he had to hold it for! The soda posed something of a problem since he'd have to use a hand to keep hold of it . . . and he was sure holding onto her shoulder with one hand was not a good security measure. Back to the same question: neck or waist? If he wrapped an around around her neck, he might actually cause her to stop breathing, which . . . Alright, waist it is. That was how he justified it anyway. If Bells blushed again, he'd just laugh it off and try not to look too happy with the situation; besides, red was clearly a good color for her.
Too bad it wasn't the neck though. The boobs would be just in reach . . . Mort swatted the thought away as they lifted off, securing his arm about her while his other hand gripped the soda. In hindsight he probably shouldn't have risked it, but he was too much of a fan of Mad Dr. Pepper to part with it willingly.
"Think heard've movie," he answered just behind her ear, having leaned in (Mort figured the closer to the driver he was, the better off he'd be). He chuckled, unsurprised to hear Bella was a romance person. "M'good for watching it. Didn't know liked that s-sort've stuff."AyeAvast Oh God avi + rp = lolololololol XD

For now, a peck would do. The witch smirked at him, as if they had shared a joke without speaking. Yet when he wrapped one arm around her waist, Belladonna couldn't help but stiffen up just a little. Oh Hecate he's so close... But the witch would not flinch. No. She was busy flying this broom because oh hey! What a fantastic idea it would be to fly your potential boilfriend across campus to go get something to eat and hey, wouldn't it be just totally rad if he was really jacking close. Sometimes Belladonna was too impulsive for her own good. So when Mort leaned in and talked in her ear, it took everything Belladonna was made up of (and then some) to keep the broom steady. It showed in her voice as she replied in a pitch just too high, "OH YEAH. I'm totally into that sort've stuff!" A string of nervous cackles ensued, but the witch managed to reign it in for another moment. "I, uh, I'm really into whatever... is interesting, yanno?" As they got closer to the school, the witch began chanting in her head whatever she could think of. At the moment, it seemed to be something along the lines 'Don't die, don't drop from the sky, up, flight, flying--TOUCHING MEEEEEEEEEE-Don't die, don't drop from the sky'. "What kind of movies do you like?" She finally squeaked out as they neared the school grounds.

It gave him a sort of thrill to see how he could affect her - nervousness worked both ways! He laughed along with Bella's high-pitched cackles, strangely relaxed by the knowledge that they could both be awkward - it was so easy for him to think it was all in his head, all his fault. Still Mort was afraid that distracting Bella much further might send them spiraling, so he laid off on the teasing and sat back a bit, the only constant his arm about her waist.
"Mrrr, lots've types," he answered above the wind. "Favor SkeV series m-more, though, 'specially animated ones. Cartoons n' digital art n' stuff, y'know? Sometimes live-action too. Can follow for longer than watching one movie, look forward to every week. Haven't watched things r-really since coming to school, though . . ." What with school work and messed up field trips and Jackdamn Hunters and all. "B-Been playing video games more n' anything else, really."

While it was nice to have the boil so close, the witch felt the tension drain from her shoulders, just a little, when Mort leaned back. The witch searched her memory, but she was fairly certain she had never been this nervous before. Maybe it was because the stakes felt higher (failed attempts made everything feel a bit more important), or maybe it was just because this was actually happening, but whatever it was... Belladonna at once liked it and disliked it. But she didn't want to continue down that train of thought. She wanted to stay happy. "Yeah? Do you watch any particular shows?" The witch asked with a slight twist of her head, just enough to show that a smile had decided to peek back out. "You probably don't watch this, but I am all about Pretty Little Lilliths. Its this show about these succubuses whose friend mysteriously dies, but then they start getting text messages from her, but its not her. Its so good!" It also helped that the fashions on the show were particularly lovely as well. It was certainly a show made for ghouls, but that surely didn't the Belladonna from talking about it. Being able to just ramble about whatever made the witch more relaxed and she was able to fly them right up to her window, the shutters still thrown open. She siddled up next to the window and offered her hand for Mort. "You go in first, then I'll come." But while he was dismounting, she couldn't help but ask one more question. "Video games? I've never been much of a player.. But they look like fun. What all do you play?"

Pretty Little Lilliths? It sounded like one of Mama's novellas or ScreV dramas. Mort bobbed his head a bit to show he was listening, even if he didn't know what to say about a show like that - well, other than it sounded like everything ghouls liked in a show rolled into one: secret, drama, girl on girl fighting . . . "Mrrr. Remember one fondly called Avatar: The Last Hairbender. Futakuchi-onna is born with power to control not just own hair but others to, but is frozen n' hidden away to escape Pyromancer Nation trying stop her, n' she wakes up hundred years later as last person with hair bending power. Teams up with water mage n' her brother, good series," he said with a nod. The transition from broom to window was easier this go around, though he was still thankful for Bella's steading hand.
Upon landing, Lanna rushed to his feet and hopped, glad to see them back. She could smell the food on them still and was expectant for some herself! "Hello, princess~" Mort greeted her with a laugh, plucking the foxfire up. "Better be good still. Will be staying longer." Stroking her fur, he turned to Bella to continue his line of thought as she dismounted. "Mostly rpgs - roleplaying games with stories - but d-do have love for Scario Kart. Is racing game. You played some?" he asked, actually surprised she had touched a controller.
