Faussi's third stage seemed to be going a bit better. He added an even amount of Gum of Arabic, mixing it with the incense powder. At this rate, it was untelling if it would hold well, but chances are it would hold up. He quickly moved to his next step.

Incense was a familiar, comfortable presence. Hazy and soothing, the boil would use it during his trances, or when practicing dreamweaving. But to create it from scratch... Ouranos gazed down at his materials, at a loss.

His fingers explored the small box, running through its crooks and compartments. Manner engrossed, Oura fingered the delicate herbs, finally isolating Bay, Sandalwood, and Myrrh. The scents, deep and dusky, enveloped his senses; he closed his eyes, feeling his consciousness fade into nothing. He began to grind.

Slow and steady, over and over. The boil worked peacefully, grinding his herbs down finely. He reached for the charcoal, letting the powder slip through his fingers; a good amount filtered through. The burn would be slow.

Things were getting confusing. Oura's forehead knit faintly as his mixture crumbled... had he missed something? That tended to happen. Feeling around the mat, Ouranos recovered the bonding agent... ah, he hadn't used enough. On the next try, his mixture held, but barely.

Curious to see what would happen, the boil touched and prodded at his incense-- only to realize that the final step was letting it set. Ouranos sat back on his heels. He looked at his goopy, crumbly stick, and smiled sadly.

Pulling an incense stick from it's container, Faussi began binding the scented mixture to it. Unfortunately, it began to stick more to his fingers than anything else, falling off the stick halfway. His flaming wings began to burn a bit crimson with irritation as he quickly cleaned the stick off and reworked the powder carefully.

"Hi, jiejie!" The baku chirped, beaming brightly at the tatzel's arrival, "Sleeping on a bamboo mat again took some getting used to--I'm so used to my bed at Amity now!--but I slept well! What about you?"

She seemed a little more excitable than usual, her tail sweeping the floor behind her as she leaned in to examine the box in front of her. Hmm...what was this?

Fortunately, she didn't have to wait long for her question to be answered. When it became apparently that class was starting, the baku suddenly stiffened, sitting up straight with her ears and tail up pointing up and alert. Xiu listened to Invictus very carefully, her gaze pretty much glued to his hands as she watched him work. Certainly, it didn't seem like it would be too difficult of a task. Grinding ingredients, mixing everything together--it looked pretty straight-forward.

When they were asked to start, Xiu turned to shoot an excited grin at the ghoul sitting beside her. "Okay, let's do this, jiejie! First we pick our ingredients, so...um..."

The ghoul's brows were furrowed in concentration as she turned to examine the ingredients to choose from. She would reach out for one of them, only to pull her hand back at the last second to reconsider. After a minute ticked by in thoughtful silence, Xiu suddenly reached out and grabbed some rose petals, cinnamon, and myrrh. Then began the grinding process.

...Which Xiu was apparently not very good at. Oh dear.

Can't say I dun ever slept in'a bamboo bed but sleepin' in'a tree ain't much more comfy, kekeke. Wasn't bad at all. Given the ghoul moved around a lot in her sleep, it was better to be on a solid surface than up in a tree with high potential of falling to the ground.

Listening carefully and paying attention to the actions of Invictus, Levi took the examples as they were passed, passing them along as well. She was semi familiar with some of the items given she used them for baking or saw them growing up on the hill back home. Xiu had her usual OuO expression on if not a little more OuO than the norm. The baku excitedly announced that they should choose their ingredients and get started. Nodding, Levi agreed. Yep! Think I'll go with~... these 'ere. Her collection consisted mainly of ingredients seen in things she would've baked. Reckon this'll smell fine.

She took to the grinding like a boss, peering over to Xiu's handy work. Bet that'll smell mighty fine too. The petite ghoul seemed to have some trouble, but Levi would reassure her that everything would work out in the end.

Xiu noted with a bit of sheepishness that her ingredients were...not very well mixed, but she didn't realized this until after she began to pour some of the charcoal into her mixture. Since it was too late for her to fix it now, the ghoul decided to just go on.

She turned to look at Levi's mixture, eyes lighting up as a bit of the smell wafted towards her. It smelled really good so far! Almost like...that familiar warm smell in her dorm room when she was baking! "Wow jiejie, you chose some really great ingredients! I can't wait to see how your incense will turn out!" And the tatzel had also done a really good job at grinding down all her ingredients as well. Xiu made a note to ask for pointers from the other ghoul in the future.

And...welp, had she added enough charcoal? Leaning forward, she peered at her mixture thoughtfully for a moment before drawing back with a small nod. Yes, that should do.

Hopefully.

What time was it? It was charcoal time. of how Val wished for a torch to urn down the paper dungeon dorms. Maybe with this charcoal all of Valentino's current dreams could come true.

Laughing to himself, Valentino added only an average amount, he was too busy thinking up all the ways that the dorms could be burnt.
