He was checking his phone intently for...He didn't know what. Maybe because it kept him from watching the crowd or maybe because he just ...
There was a feeling of someone coming up behind him a firm impact of someone resting for a second before it lifted and then fiddling with his hair happened and then...Eva's voice. He blushed a little tiny bit simply because it was simply female contact but he managed to muster up a smile just a tiny one, "Hey. Still not getting enough sleep, huh?" He chuckled a bit as he just let her rest there for the time being. Slowly but surely he was just accepting that people were going to touch him invited or not.
"I...been better, but I guess I am alright for now," he said honestly as he tucked the phone away for now, "other than not really sleeping how are you?"

Cass was trying hard to not seem nervous as she sat, waiting, passing a glance over to Marcus as he talked to Moon Trainees he was familiar with, while she found herself talking to someone completely different - Nicodemus.
<>
I don't know. He admitted. I only know so much, Cassandra. I can only tell you I'm going to do my best to take care of you.
<> A brief memory of that near death experience flashed through her head and she grabbed her leggings in a tight fist, fighting a frown.
I can't promise everything will be fine, but...if the going gets rough. Run. I'd rather have you alive and slightly mangled as a coward than dead as a hero.
<>
It might have been the first time he gave her advice of that variety.

Just as predicted, the training fields started to cluster like a can of sardines. Mercedes.. didn't like sardines. :< But to make things a little less hawkward, the girl paced around looking maybe for more from her division. Pretty soon she was addressed by Molly, whom she'd experienced fighting the yetis with up at the north pole. She seemed awfully bright and cheerful today.. maybe Mercedes needed to lift her own disposition. After all, the only exposure to the doom that awaited them was via rumor.. nobody had come to her and told her that today they were going to die. "I had a little bit of a bagel but my stomach wasn't feeling good from sleeping wrong last night, I dunno.." she sighed but offered the curly-haired beauty a smile before looking over to Deryk who'd waved to her. The misty returned the gesture with a smile. "You're rather riled up huh?" she said, and lifted Hadjoc in a bit of a salute. "Relax, whatever we're doing today either you're gonna get swept up in one gulp or make it out alive! Heh, at least that's how these missions seemed to have gone so far... right?"

Vanessa's first reaction to seeing a text sent from someone titled "Headquarters" at a reasonable time before the actual mission was an eyebrow raise, which was followed by Volt almost wimpering in her mind, :: Are we doomed? Are we going to die? :: He'd seen the archives, just as she had. He was the one who couldn't control his worry. There was static in her mind, the constant reminder of Volt's nervous existance. Vanessa wouldn't let him bother her though. Somehow she actually found herself comforting the weapon."Hush, Voltaire. We'll be okay. Just have faith in both of us. I will not let you die, and I expect you to protect me as well."
Volt quieted himself slightly, just a vague hum of worry now in her thoughts. Despite her reassurances to Volt, the Lifer could not be sure of their survival. She knew he could sense these thoughts, but somehow the electrical dragon instead put all his faith in her words instead of her worries. That in itself was an accomplishment that she could be proud of him for.
By the time Vanessa had arrived at the training fields, there was already several trainees gathered around. She glanced to them, noting the somber expressions on some of the more experienced trainees, the more confused and obvious ones on the faces of those who must've been newer members of their Institution. Vanessa was both equally jealous and pitying of those who weren't aware of their potential doom.
Volt vibrated softly in her thoughts, trying to hide protectively in her mind from the coming danger. His unsummoned form flickered warily on her chest, the pendant's light shifting slightly. It was the only thing betraying how both weapon and trainee felt, as Vanessa's expression was one of a serious, business-like, calm.

Wilson chuckled at the text he received in response. He looked up from his phone and searched around again, this time spotting Sherry by herself. Smiling softly, Wilson pocketed his phone and walked over to the other trainee. “Hey Sherry,” he greeted with a half-nod, glad to finally have someone to idly chat with while he waited. “How’ve you been?” Out of the corner of his eye, Wilson spotted another life trainee. His eyes lit up when he realized it was Vanessa. He hadn’t seen her in a while. He decided to wave at her.

"Hey," Sherry returned Wilson's nod. A smile came to her face; she was also glad to have someone to chat with. Unnerving as this summons was, having someone you knew to talk to was always comforting. "I've been well," as well as any trainee could be, she figured. "You?" She paused for a moment, then added, "Get the feeling this is something big?" She couldn't help but ask.

Gale returned the hug and she hugged him tighter again, nuzzling her face against his hair. "You're not usually so affectionate back, sweetie. You okay?" She asked quietly, giving Gale an assuring smile. They'd be okay. She was too awesome to end up like the hunters in 1999. They were all going to be fine. Candace couldn't help a long look around at everyone who was arriving, however. Memorize faces. These faces all needed to return. And they would. She sighed, bending down to press a kiss against Gale's cheek and rest her forehead against his. "I'm going to go say hello to the others, especially the Mists. Just call for me if you need anything, okay?" One more kiss against his other cheek and Candace stood straight again, giving the boy a playful ruffle of his hair before turning in time to accept the breakfast bar and sudden hand squeeze from Molly. She stared at the girl for a long time, looking unsure. Did Molly know..? Candace frowned, tugging her hands free to give the girl a hug. "Thanks, Molly. You keep your energy up too, okay?" The girl was given a squeeze before she was released and Candace gave the snack her attention, tearing open the package and nibbling at the bar. Could always count on Molly to be overly prepared. She watched her interact with Bix, raising a brow at the way she blushed and hugged him. Oh? What do we have here?Let's see. Who else was around. .. Jerry. Her heart stopped. "Hey, Jerry.." She called out with a worried smile, giving him a small wave before distracting herself with the breakfast she'd been given. Thank you food.Mists, Mists..she needed to see all of the Mists. All of them. They would be okay. They'd all be okay. Candace would just chant that to herself. "Cass~. Mercedes~."

Jerry glanced up as his name was called, focusing on the face... Candace. He drew in a deep breath. His face was pale as he approached her, hands fidgeting with his scarf. "Um. Hi." He glanced back through the crowd of trainees. It seemed everyone was here. "Candace. Are... are you scared?" He kept his voice low, but still audible over the din of voices, "I mean... with um. The rumors and. And so on..."

Actually as soon as he sent that Aleister had swallowed the last of the poptart he was eating and ran out to the field. Stopping when he was standing beside Wilson. He left the other poptart in the wrapper but had pulled it out to start eating it. "So. Did I miss anything good yet?"
He wondered if they were early.

Molly totally shook Davey’s hand before she wandered off. Because she would not leave a nice person hanging who would extend a hand. She also hugged Candace back in return, because she would never leave someone hanging for a hug either. “ I will Miss Candace, I promise!” Bix’s words kept that wide smile on her face. “ I’ll look out for you too!” The Mist trainee winced a bit as Deryk jumped, and she reached out to rest a hand on his shoulder encouragingly. That twitch grin…oh dear. The young woman laughed a bit, and squeezed his shoulder. “ Oh good! I’m glad you had a pop tart. Something is better than nothing!” She nodded her head. “ Mhm! I had a bagel with cream cheese and jam!” Speaking of bagels! Molly beamed at Mercedes. “ Good, I’m glad! Something is way better than nothing!” At her words, she couldn’t help but give a nervous laugh, glancing over at Deryk again. “… Well…it’s true!” Molly chirped. “ Whatever happens, happens, right?” She squeezed Deryk’s shoulder again. “ Don’t stress yourself out now, Deryk. It will be alright. We haven’t even left the training field yet, silly!”

Vanessa turned just in time to spot Wilson waving her down from not to far away. A slight smile, if it could even be considered a smile, formed on her face. If she was going down today, at least she'd be dying with her...friends.
The red-head quickly made her way through the gathering trainees, raising a hand at Wilson to show that she'd spotted him. After a moment, she stopped by his side, giving him a nod. "Hey. I haven't seen you in a while. How have you been?" She asked, trying to remember the last time she'd seen him. Volt gave a happy spark in her mind, brought slightly out of his worries by the fact that hey, there was someone here that Vanessa actually liked! Quietly, she added, "Are you ready for this?" Because they could very well all die on this mission, and she knew it.
Vanessa also gave a nod to the other trainee Wilson was speaking with. "Hello." It was a simple greeting, but it was a greeting none the less. Another had arrived just before herself, and she nodded to Aleister as well.

Jerry approached her and Candace turned to give him her attention, watching him mess with his scarf and just act all around nervous. She didn't answer at first, just chewing on a large bite of breakfast bar and looking away. Oh, Sydney was here too. Good, good. Scared...she was terrified. With what she'd heard about the last time there was a mission like this? She..she was just...but she had to put on a happy face. She had to be strong. The newer trainees looked to them for guidance, right? They had to act like everything was fine no matter how not fine it was. "..Terrified." She answered quietly but honestly, giving Jerry a smile anyway. "It's taking all my willpower to not cry or tremble with fear right now, honestly. I'm just chanting to myself 'everyone will be okay. Everything will be fine' over and over again." She paused a moment, just looking upon Jerry with clear concern. He was reckless and very emotion fueled, plus his tendency to disassociate; Jerry had gotten better with that but it had been a long time since they'd been on a mission of this scale. He wasn't her responsibility but Candace couldn't help but worry about him. "And you?"

"W-wishing I had a good stiff drink right now, ahahahaha," He managed, smile trembling on his face. This could be their last quiet moment, for all he knew. It... it was important to make sure things were okay. Just... pretend nothing was wrong. No past drama, no future possible death, no faces in the files. Just another mission.

A drink sounded amazing right now. "Unfortunately all I have is half a breakfast bar and a hug?" Candace offered with a quiet chuckle, holding up what was left of the treat Molly had given her.

"Sleep?" Eva grumbled, sounding faintly distracted, as if she were beginning to doze off, "What's sleep? ...I'm just going to shut my eyes for a few minutes..."
Only not. There was a long pause as she slowly processed Jude's answer, and then she drew back, blue eyes fluttering open again. She clapped a hand on her friend's shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. Here she was, complaining how tired she was, and Jude had his own share of troubles plaguing him. Her voice was sympathetic as she told him, "Hang in there, Jude. You're strong."
Drawing back, she stretched her arms over her head and sighed. Might as well try to make herself more awake--there was no point trying to fit in an extra five or ten minutes of sleep right now, after all. "I guess I'm okay. The nightmares aren't quite as bad as they were at first, so I've been working on getting my sleeping pattern back to normal." Despite the fact that it looked a little weary, the grin was back on Eva's face.
"So! Any idea what all this is about? And...who the text was from, exactly?"
