"We're really back?" Looked like it. " 'n I did good?" Alex seemed to be in once piece and was smiling, and that was a good outcome considering the last thing he remembered Tethys had been present. Hadn't let Alex down. Home. Claire was here. When she touched his hand lightly he fumbled to grip onto her as tightly as he could manage, just in case she might disappear if he didn't.
How did he feel though?... That was a good question. "Feel all...." He would have gestured vaguely, but both hands were busy making sure people didn't vanish and confirming that this was real not just another dream. "....Druggie," Aulus decided eventually, "dunno what they've given me but s'good, don'hurt half as much as I should. Making it hard t'think straight though." He was vaguely aware of the bits that would be really sodding painful without the drugs - mainly his back - but thanks to the drugs it wasn't too bad for now.
"How're you two doing then?" he added fuzzily, feeling vaguely aware somewhere in the back of his mind that he probably looked stupid clinging to two peoples' hands like this. His desire to maintain a public image of toughness however lost out to his desire to retain physical contact with his partner and his... Claire. He still wasn't sure what he ought to think of her as. Was she his girlfriend? He'd never got the courage to actually ask; he just kept asking for one date after another, and panicking that if he tried to ask anything else she would run away.

Seth groaned a little, and reminded her quietly. "Oh but I did... I brought him here in the first place, remember?"
He sat back in his chair and watched her for a moment. Of course she would be fine, although he wasn't as sure about some of the others. He had heard one grunt came back with some rather serious wounds.
"Someone had to stay behind. Perhaps next time."

Tambrey remained mostly uninterested by most of the comings and goings, though aware of the more... vocal or dramatic of them. She swung her legs absent-mindedly as she sat worrying until... There was Aulus.
And Hayes was back. Her attention wandered from the door and she found herself listening to the reunion of, well, three people with Claire there too before catching herself and tearing her gaze back to the floor a little way in front of the door. She'd catch up, perhaps, at some point, but even if she could have, the grunt wasn't going to break in on that moment.
She still waited either for a chance to ask about Jerome or for the ex-gangster himself to appear. She also kept an ear out for Inigo- she'd heard him not long ago, she knew, but still hadn't managed to thank him.

"Oohhh right." She chuckled softly, "Lucky you." When Seth sat back she nodded, "I'll hold you to that. Next time you can come back with the electrical burns and I'll sit back at base watching daytime tv."

Seth raised his brows and huffed a little. "Is that what you think I've been doing all this time?" He sounded a little disgusted at the thought. Watching daytime tv indeed. He did not reduce himself to sitting mindlessly in front of a screen watching idiotic shows about nothing, like some people he knew. No.. he had other mindless activities thank-you-very-much.

Seth just rolled his eyes. As if he had time for such things anyway. ... Nevermind that he actually did as of late, but that was beside the point. "Right. Well. If that's the case, I expect you to come down here and watch it with me when I get injured." He then smirked a little. "Or we could watch it right now. You don't have anything better to do, after all."

TRP rolled her eyes, "I'll pass. I've had quite enough entertainment for one day."

"Heh." It was a sound that had gone unheard for a while - Hayes' short, back-of-the-throat laugh like an abbreviated chuckle - and it was accompanied by a brief grin. "You did awesome," the blond laughed, giving the tanned hand another squeeze. "Took a fireball dead-on and kept going. Honestly man, it was some serious badass."
"Better'n you," he answered the inquiry. "Worry about yourself for a bit; they've got you on ten different kinds of drugs."

A pare of gray boots slid quietly into the aria of Tambery's vision, followed with a voice "Hello Tambery."
The Grunt had been sitting alone when Faleen had taken a glance around the room, she was probably waiting on a nurse to return with something to help dream her wounds, or for some testing. Most everyone else seemed occupied, so the agent had gone over to the young women.

The grunt started as someone was suddenly right there in front of her saying her name. She blinked a little at the boots, then started to stand up when she realised it was an agent talking to her but it took her legs rather more time to lift her than it should have and she certainly wasn't comfortable without leaning on something yet.
"Ah! Uh, Agent Faleen..." She greeted in return, then briefly wondered if she was about to be told she was fit to go from the infirmary or something. This led quickly to a decision to try and explain herself before that happened. "I was just... waiting for news... About everyone. Not everyone's, um, out yet..." Was talking to higher ranks at HQ always this awkward? She wasn't sure she remembered it being so... Then again, it still felt like they'd been away for months rather than weeks... She finished her sentence, barely, and then found herself sitting again, unbidden. The grunt was still exhausted, still bruised, still a little dehydrated. She probably hadn't allowed herself to 'rest' as properly as she'd been supposed to and, though cleaned up and re-dressed in what the infirmary had given her, hadn't made it to her own shower yet. "Sorry."

When he gripped her hand, she didn't hesitate to take his in both of hers. The fingers of one hand slid over towards his, wanting to intertwine them but she wasn't sure if he wanted to or not. He was back. Finally.
His response drew a small, brief smile tugged at her lips, but her mounting concern quickly wiped it away. Hayes's descriptions of things didn't help with that. A freaking fireball? What had she missed? Well, at least he was safe and in one piece and home and here with her again. That was all that mattered.

Aulus probably would have liked to lace his fingers through Claire's but his brain was having trouble with the idea of letting go of the hand he was already clinging to for long enough to do so. He was looking at her for now though, smiling in a slightly unfocused manner. "D'you do something different with your hair, or 's it just one of the ten different drugs making me think that?"
Fireball.
Oh yea, he remembered that bit now, rather distinctly actually. His eyes drifted back over to Alex at the recollection, his soft smile becoming more of a grin, though equally unfocused. "Hey. You shaved. Good. Y'looked like a pillock with a beard, all... scraggly. Y'know, like cheese that's grown all mould on it."
As Aulus rambled vaguely about hair and cheese a small purple Spinarak started to creep up onto the bed; he'd been hanging on underneath for a while now, suspecting that the busy people would have shouted if they'd seen him. Now that things were calmer and it was just friendly people he knew however he felt safe, and appeared over the edge near Hayes' knee. Giving a polite 'Eee!' of greeting to the blond and then over to Claire he cast around for a good place to sit.

Frost frowned very slightly and shook his head. "Not unless Deimos is cooperative. This zero point energy lark in the g-ball, and whatever is in the jet's engine is just...." It was beyond him. He was not used to things being beyond him. "We shan't give up though, even if it seems hopeless," he went on firmly, "the potential dividends are far too great to ignore. Sometime the impossible must be attempted... or at least the highly improbable. Storming Galactic's stronghold for example, even if we did have inside information, had a fairly high risk of complete disaster... but it was well worth taking those risks."
He was terrible at this. What was he even doing here? Was this going anywhere in the end? Xander would probably be better off with somebody else, somebody closer to his age and more to the point somebody more... normal.
Structured to a fault.
He had always refused to believe that, but perhaps that was just denial. If he didn't believe it on some level why would he get so angry when it was said? Nothing else affected him like that, not that anyone knew that because he maintained the same exterior regardless of how he was feeling save around a trusted few and even with them it was difficult to show his emotions.
Structured to a fault.
Faulty.
Xander would be better off with somebody else.
