The fog-thing vanished into shreds of mist, with only a single word left behind.

Home?
PostPosted: Mon Mar 19, 2012 9:53 pm

Calder pouted as Amrita told him to sush. "Just saying." He said, playing with his shirt buttons and frowning, before yet ANOTHER fog thing came to them. They were getting rid of them quickly though. Still. "If we hang around, we're only going to get worn down by all these fog creatures. I don't like following after anything that could join with others. We're already dealt with Hunters and even Red had a hard time with them. I just...I don't want us to be captured." He didn't want to loose anyone.

"Let's go in the woods. At least we have cover there than being in the open. I just....I just feel safer in the woods." Whether this was logical or based on a instinctual need to be hidden, Calder wasn't sure, but he knew he was growing tense just standing by the tree.

Ears up and alert, Calder turned and headed down the path.

c) The students are at the edge of where they had seen Horsemen leave that one time, perhaps they should check out the remains of the Weeping Forest instead?

Something seems to have separated from the mass of fog, staring hungrily in your direction. It tries to talk, but instead, hisses lowly, though you can make out a single word as it speaks.

Home.

Just as they were heading down the path, yet another fog creature turned to greet them, and it's foggy whisps came far too close around him. Kicking the fog away, he glared back. "Do I LOOK like I know where your home is? Do ANY of you even know what your home is? If it's Halloween, HERE you are. If it's not, then I have no JACKIN idea where." He hissed, trying to keep his voice low but really having a hard time. He was pissed, he was tired, and he was strained with the constant demands placed on him and everyone else through these past few months.

A vine struck out, coiling in the fog. It bristled with thorns, but seemed to hesitate at the lack of anything very solid, wavering before it withered into dust.

IF YOU CHOOSE TOWN HALL OR WEEPING FOREST

IF YOU CHOOSE TOWN HALL OR WEEPING FOREST:

Your walk through the fog makes you feel colder step by step, inch by inch. At last, fighting through masses of unknown creatures, creatures who continuously talk about home, you reach a strange landmark.

A single tattered flag rising from the ground. On it is a very familiar symbol, a carved pumpkin emblazoned with an A. Amityville.

You walk over to the flag, but there's nothing else in sight. What does this mean? What could it mean. Warily, you look around for clues, hints, but the fog is too thick, it is hard to see anything. Oddly enough, as you search around further, you hear a vague buzzing noise, similar to something building an electric charge-

- There is a loud ZAP and you black out immediately.

When you wake up, you realize you are tied, rather primitively actually, bound by thick ropes, feet and neck coiled with chains. You seem to be in a series of what look like underground caverns, the lighting dim and shallow, a few figures milling around. One of them is looking straight at you, and takes a step forward.

You do no recognize them at all, an undead carrying a thick set of chains and what looks like a primitive helmet. He strides towards you, and sticks the helmet over you head, staring at you suspiciously. A grunt. "So you can't log out, while we interrogate you." In his spare hand is a weapon, a rusted broken saw. He leans closer with the weapon-

- "Wait! I'll do this." Another much smaller figure leans over, except this one is very familiar: the tattered blue scarf and general washed out appearance did nothing to hide that this was a certain school secretary. He looked extremely worn out, expression both suspicious and haunted as he leaned closer towards you, traces of recognition in his eyes. "Who are you?"

"The are spies." Grunted the other, unwavering. "We shall torture them, kill them from the inside out, like they have done to us. It does not matter what the spies look like."

They sighed, recoiling backwards. "You are right. These students died years ago."

You quickly scan around you, noting the drab landscape, the survivors looking at you curiously. Yes, survivors, you are looking at the last few remaining survivors of Halloween. A few questions cross your mind.

a) You ask about where you are and the status of Halloween/ what is going on

b) You ask about who has survived. You begin to rattle off names, places.

c) You call the secretary out by name. You mention the Trials, and the last time you saw them.

The longer they walked, the more nervous she left; the fact that the whispers of 'home' never truly left them even when there was nothing attacking them unnerved her, and made her wonder where her home was... Where was Amity? Where was her mother and their house?

"This is..." She took the top corner of the flag and pulled it taut so that they could all see the symbol on it, "Amityville? Our school?" For the first time since they landed in this situation, she begun to feel frightened; what if all of this was real? Well, sure, the attacks had hurt, but she had somehow convinced herself that this was all part of the trials. That the horsemen were messing with them somehow, and had sent them to this... This 'fake Halloween'.

But what if it was real? what if something had happened during the trials to cause Halloween to become... This?

"We should-" She looked around frantically, trying to look for anything that might help to explain the flag - maybe a clue to where they should go next, go what they should do; however, before she could finish her sentence, she heard a buzzing noise coming from somewhere in the fog, followed by a sharp pain... And then she was out cold.

When she woke up, she couldn't help but think hunters; after all, they were knocked out, and captured! Was it all a trap after all?

Keeping silent, she frowned at the figure who was looking at them, and when he stuck a helmet over her head, she tried to shake free of her bonds, but it was no use... The chains and ropes were too strong for her to break out of, and too tight to wriggle out of. Her frown deepened when the figure spoke of 'logging out' and 'interrogation', although the second figure that stepped towards them made her eyes widen in surprise; he looked older, more worn out somehow, but-

"Arel! Mister Arel!" That was her first instinct, as she leaned forward, "What happened? The horsemen trials! We hadn't seen you since the horsemen trials!"

Calder walked and slowly started to take the back position. Being the closest thing to a stallion, it was his duty to stand watch in the back, and he decided to silently nominate Lizzy as the lead mare. She'd lead the way, and he'd take the flank, and that sense of order and setup that was the basis of how his clan traveled brought with it a sense of security, however minor. The fog wasn't helping, and he drew more closely.

It was then that a soft chiming of metal loops against a pole drew their attention, and though it was harder to see now, the flapping, worn flag was high enough to catch their attention. As their own object other than trees and mist, they all moved to it, and Calder came close before he stopped dead in his tracks. "Amityville?" He looked around. There should have been buildings here, their dorms, the swamps and the sidewalks. This can't be real. They have to be messing with us. The horsemen can make us small. They can also crush us with energy like back in the haunted house, after that treasure room. They.....they have to be messing with us. It was his only explanation as anything else was too startling, too IR irreversible and complete and impossible to think otherwise. The idea that his parents might be gone, that something might have happened to them, or they thought he might be dead, was threatening to tear at his insides. Then there were his friends. His many, many friends that he met in Amityville. They were his home, and he didn't want to see them hurt.

They have to be messing with us. They're safe.

As for them, not so much.

Calder's ears snapped in the direction of the buzzing, and just as he turned, eyes wide and sense of dread building, he felt the zap and everything went black.

When he woke, he wasn't in a cage, but he was tied, and the chains about his neck and feet caused him to go from slumped over to alarm in a matter of moments. Freaking out, he tugged and pulled at his restraints, kicking out at them to no avail. The only thing that stopped him was to see that this wasn't hunters. In fact, the chains weren't zapping the fear from him like their cages did. But an undead arrived and slapped a helmet on his head, smushing his poor ears. Now it was hard to hear, but he could still see, and blowing hair of his eyes, he looked to see....

"...Arel, you look so OLD." He did. The man's pretty features and scarf were in a very poor state, and Calder wanted to tidy him up, but current circumstances scolded him for silly thoughts. Right now, his heart was racing, and as Lizzy spoke, Calder nodded. "This is part of the trials, right? We did the sandcastles, we did the obstacle course, so this has to be the last one, right? RIGHT? You were there. You have to tell us. This isn't funny." He was over these trials. Screw the Horsemen! He wanted to go home!!! He wanted to hug his parents and check on his friends.

Arel frowned. "Trials?" He turned towards the other undead for a second, "Do you know what they're talking abo-"

BANG.

The entire cave shook furiously, several survivals scrambling left and right, shouting incoherently. There was a second bang and then a third-

- Everything exploded in dust and debris, a strange smell, the smell of the fog, wafting into the cave. It was impossible to see now, clouds of dirt and smoke flying everywhere, though through the haze, there was a distant noise, an electric ZAP-

- Screaming, more muffled shouts, someone yelling loudly "HUNTERS, SOUND THE ALARM", the noise of something, bells perhaps, clanging loudly, clearly-

- Suddenly cut off by a burst of light. There were more now, flecks of light, of colour in the room, glowing beyond the haze, the fog, the smoke, the dust clouds. And the yelling, sounds, of metal clashing against metal, of snarling, furious cries, of someone telling the others to "Evacuate now".

Mere minutes, everything was dead silent again. Silent, as the smoke and fog cleared, revealing an entirely empty cavern, revealing signs of anarchy and chaos littered on the ground, unmanned weapons and broken furniture. Revealing a figure walking towards the still restrained students, a figure wearing a long white coat emblazoned with gold. They knelt on the ground for a second, examining one of the damaged equipment on the ground with a small frown, their coat dangling on the ground a moment longer, the gold insignia on the back shaped like two scythes crossing each other.

"Sir, we've got the lead of the other escapers. Permission to pursue them?" Another of the attackers had appeared, saluting the first figure smartly. The figure nodded shortly, curtly, watching them leave before standing up, patting down his coat.

"Now," He began, his hair a shocking red even in the dim light, as he examined the trainees with a rather amused expression, "This is probably the most interesting thing I've seen all month. The refugees left you clearly here to die, but, and do correct me if I'm wrong of course," the figure pulled up a chair, casually sitting level with them, "I don't think you are from here at all."

"Sir!" A second voice, and then another person. For some students, perhaps in another lifetime, they might have even found the person familiar: a human dressed in a simpler design of the first's coat, cropped hair tied in a loose ponytail. "Once we are done here, they are requesting backup at the southeast portal entrance."

The red-head sighed. "Ben."

"Yes, sir?"

"Ben, seriously, call me Ben, its not hard." 'Ben' was putting a hand to his face, one of long suffering. "Caelius, I swear to god, one day you are going to call me Ben, and the world is going to e-"

"With all due respect sir, they are still waiting for your backup after this interrogation."

'Ben' sighed, leaning forwards on his chair again. Maybe if the students were on the same side, they would have been good friends, it was a pity really. "Okay, well apparently I have some more important things to do"- yes, there were airquotes -"But it was really interesting meeting you. Hope to see you back at base then, good talk all." He signaled for two others. "Keep an eye on them until I get back okay, don't move them quite yet, I still have questions, and I am seriously, seriously getting goosebumps just thinking of the others tampering in this before I have a chance at it."

Blank stares from the two other humans. Ben hung his head in defeat. "Just- just don't touch anything." He put a hand on Caelius's shoulder, which the other simply brushed off, the two of them disappearing back into the fog and smoke.

There was a moment of silence longer, and then the sound of a high-pitched whining noise: an electric charge.

"Dude," began the first of the two sentries in charge of 'watching' the students, "He said not to do anything, put that thing down?"

"Aw, come on," argued the other, "We've been stuck doing sentry duty all day. Wouldn't you think it would be funny just to prod them like, once?" He walked over to the students, a feral grin on his face, holding what looked like a glowing dagger. "Hi there little creatures, how about we play a little game to ease the boredom? You tell me everything you know, or I'll stick you, with my little ah, friend here."

OOC

- Your student is still trapped... OR ARE THEY?
-You notice that your ropes are actually starting to come loose, or maybe its just how awesome you are, whatever the case is, you feel it no longer restrains your Fear as much! Maybe the effect has worn off? Roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the result. If anyone is free, move to the ESCAPE phase. You can continue rolling until you are freed
- Your character CAN have a chance of dying during the ESCAPE phase. If they are dead, then please RP their death solo accordingly. Your team can still function without their "leader" alive.

1-30: You wriggle the ropes just slightly, but no luck.
31- 60: You feel several coils come loose, and you try to continue the conversation with your captors in order to distract them.
61-100: YOU ARE FREE. You quickly bolt as fast as you can, looking for the nearest exit, despite the shouts nearby. You must now move to the ESCAPE phase.

YOU ARE ESCAPING:
- Roll a 6-sided dice to try to escape. If you roll ODD, you feel a strange sensation, a ZAP - this is the last thing you see. YOUR STUDENT IS NOW DEAD (not even dissipated, gone forever)
- If you roll even you are FREE. You head outside but... are you alone? The fog is so thick around you, you can't see a thing (please wait here for further gm prompts, feel free to interact with anyone else who got freed or post rp reactions to those who didn't).

Barth had come into a sort of groggy awareness at being tied up. Was that Arel's voice? Had they been disqualified by now? He hoped the trials were over. He had, frankly, had it up to here with jumping through hoops.

He was not very good at it.

Calder was talking. Afraid. He had been afraid earlier, something bothering him...why did this have to happen in the morning.

He tested his wrists, slightly. Oh. It was just...rope? Not iron, or enchantments, or a device of some kind? He pried open his eyes to see if Christof could, perhaps, see about untying him a bit, if he wouldn't mind, and was arrested by the sight of some familiar white coats.

Not again.
