Snow Dash!

The moment Lucien felt his feet hit the snow, there was an incredible sigh of relief run over him. Although it wasn't like the last time where he had suffered through the snow covered Christmas world, it did bring back a nice feeling of deja vu. He suddenly felt warm, his face flushed red as he made his way ahead. It was weird, he should feel colder now that he's on the snow!

He was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when he heard it.

It had come back.

Did you know... you're about to step in a hole?

Okay, as much as Lucien found himself eternally aggravated by the lepus and its shoe fetish... it did have a helpful streak. His hand grabbed the backpack and just in time the boil leap over the ice like Willy the Whale and landed safely on solid ground. Phew.

Snow Dash!

This part of the course didn't seem too bad. His feet were nice and chilled, filling him with a nice sensation. It helped that he had managed to get a flag and that he hadn't fallen through the ice thanks to the lesson from the Lepus Guide. Most importantly, the Lepus Guide wasn't talking about shoes. He was saying random things mostly, and Lucien had proven able to ignore them and continue with his thoughts. At least he was able to. The Lepus Guide said something that made Lucien stop dead in his tracks.

Did you know... you're as red as an apple?

Huh. He wasn't normally red, was he? The cold wasn't going to make him red either. This was weird. Really weird. All he had been doing was thinking about the time he was in Christmas with Israfel. Israfel had been so nice to him then, he'd even made him jingle elf hat shoes since he didn't have any footwear at all. Oh, Israfel was so nice! And fluffy! Such a pretty bird! He could sing real well too... Lucien went a little off topic there, his thoughts moving on completely from snow to Israfel. He didn't even manage to hear the Lepus' annoying voice as it warned him.

Did you know... you're sinking?

Did you know... you're getting deeper?

Did you know... I'm talking?

No Lepus Guide, Lucien didn't know any of this. In fact, he was completely lost to the world until finally he was buried under it and gone.

"I-I'm okay." Siddie pulled herself together again, sniffling. "That just hurt. The rocks are sharp. And I fell." She brushed ineffectively at her knees, frowning at the holes in her stockings, then looked up at Sammy. "I'm okay, really."

At least today it wasn't windy. Still, Siddie didn't really care to try the rock climbing course again. She'd been patched up and had taken a nice long hot sower, so she wasn't sore, but the prospect of willingly facing those sharp rocks again wasn't terribly appealing.

Maybe, if she wasn't going up, she should try going down instead.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS

The darkness of the cave was cool and relaxing; Siddie breathed a sigh of relief. There was some kind of effect in place that kept her from seeing particularly far; she supposed that was intended to keep it fair for students like herself whose natural environment was dark. Well, she'd just play fair like she was supposed to, then.

She picked her way over the uneven ground, stepping carefully over the rocks. This part was pretty easy, really! Kind of fun, almost.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS

The pathway grew narrower, and Siddie stretched one arm out to trail her hand across the cool damp stone of the wall to help keep herself from tripping in the gloom. When she came to a fork, she paused, trying to remember the maze rule. Was it always keep to the left, or to the right? She thought it might be the right. Right path it was, then.

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS

About a hundred steps in, she thought she heard something, and stopped to listen. No, she definitely heard something. There was a soft, low growling issuing from the darkness ahead of her.

Well, Siddie knew a warning when she heard one. She turned, hurried back to the fork, and trotted hastily down the left path instead, trying to move as quietly as she could so that she could listen for anything following her. She didn't think she was being followed ...

THE CAVE OF DARKNESS

The gloom lightened in this section of the obstacle course, and up ahead, Siddie could see a low, narrow, muddy hole in the wall. Oh, ick. She was going to have to lie down on her belly and scoot, wasn't she?

As she hesitated in front of the passageway, nerving herself up for the task, she felt something wrap suddenly around her ankle. She had barely enough time to look down and see that a tentacle had shot out of a previously unseen hole in one of the walls to coil around her leg before the rainbow abomination yanked, tipping her onto her back, and hauled her into the hole from which it had issued.

The tunnel into which she'd been dragged was dank and wet and tilted, and Siddie shrieked and tried to kick at the tentacle as it hauled her along through a narrow flow of tepid water. It ignored her efforts entirely. By the time she saw a circle of light approaching rapidly and realized she'd been hauled off the course entirely, she was completely disoriented, and it was a shock when she dropped into a pool of muddy water at the end, and had to be helped back out by an infirmary assistant.

At least, she thought morosely, it wasn't chill and windy today. Of all the days on which to be dropped into muddy water, a warm and humid day was a better outcome. And she'd gotten two flags, anyway.

"Well you made in back in one piece minus a few scratches and a bit of blood, I'd say that's better then what could have happened right?" The undead ghoul tugged Siddie up into a hug cuddling her close for a moment. "C'mon lets get you cleaned up before the next part alright?"
The Jungle Course

Of course when they returned the weather had shifted quite a bit. It seemed all the rain and wind had turned to fog and humidity. Being undead and humidity never really mixed. Dead flesh was best cold, or maybe room temperature but only with ample FEAR in the air. This humid air though? It was sticky, mucky, and it made her skin moist to the touch in a way that even she didn't like with barely any nerve endings.

And... was Israfel offering a protection charm? She grabbed the charm eyes flaring wild and wide stuffing it into a spare pocket. "Notherejackdammitisrafelwhatareyouthinking!?" She shooed the Siren away, what ever it was it was nice, albeit a little to public with its tedenency to pass out protection charms.

"Damn today is going to suck." She muttered as the group split up.

"Did you know the moisture in the air will continue for the rest of the day?" Vitter was more then happy to weigh in on things from his pack puffing lazily at his pipe. (Why did he have a pipe anyway? A question for later.)

"Not a shock, might as well do the jungle course then. It's humid either way like that." Shifting her bag she stated off towards the jungle.

---

"Did you know the jungle is full of deadly snakes with poisons that can re-kill even the dead?" Vitter of course was very sure to make this face while snug and safe in his bag, his head popping out ever so slightly. Eyes roaming the jungle around them; he was as paranoid as Sammy.

Who of course was doing all the work.

Her boots crushed leaves and twigs as the fog swirled around them. She couldn't do much at all but wander the fog and hope she could pick the trail. No signs pointed directly to it, what could be a path could easily just be a pile of leaves that happened to be lying flat leading right to a dead end. Each step crunched and turned more leaves to soggy much undertow as she walked. "Where is the pa-" She paused turning about FEAR flaring on her left arm to light the fog up, her eyes matching the flare as she tried to see through the fog to no avail.

"Did you know.... we're being followed?"

"No s**t!" The ghoul had no time for Vitter as she turned cutting her FEAR short; no time to fight or see what it was. Only time to keep moving now. She sprinted the other way, what first looked like a dead end wasn't as she cut between a series of slender trees; a single flag dangling between them she snatched it from the string it was hanging on sprinting onward, it looked like the trees thinned out, a ravine seemed to be on the other side of them...

Long Grass Field

It was a raviene. A big one at that.

"Did you know a fall like that could shatter every bone in our bodies?" Vitter's commentary didn't put Sammy at ease. The lepus was right. The ravine was too far across to simply jump with a boost of FEAR, and it was too steep and smooth to climb down.

"Dammit, I should have asked if Shehk got past this, she might have been able to help..." What ever had been chasing them was still somewhere behind them. What ever growling and foot steps she had heard, she heard none of it now. Well; at the moment at least.

"Did you know, a tree could be a lovely bridge?" The lepus guide stood up in his bag tapping Sammy's shoulder with the pipe before directing her gaze to the tree that had fallen across the gap.

"Best advice you've given me yet...." she muttered before marching her way over. It looked solid, apparently the tree had grown too close to the edge and part of the ravine had given away causing the tree to uproot and tip over. Humidity has moistened the moss and fungus growing along the dying tree, it wouldn't be easy to cross in this weather at all.

Such thoughts where quickly put aside as a wild displacer beast suddenly burst from the trees. Vitter chimed in at that exact moment, "Did you know a displacer beast can rip apart your average person in a matter of ten seconds?!"

"I'D RATHER NOT FIND OUT TODAY!"

Sammy wasted no time at that point leaping onto the log slipping slightly as she took her first few steps. Behind her the displacer beast, likely the creature from in the woods earlier landed on the tree, claws digging in and keeping its balance.

"Dammit dammit dammit dammit s**t!" Every step was weaker then the last, her boots squeaked and squished in the moss and gunk of the tree till she finally reached the mid way point, a hungry looking displacer beast lurking behind her prowling with steady paw work. Sammy risked one look, and one look was all it took for her foot to touch down too far to the right. Moss and mush shifted and her foot slid off the curve of the tree spinning her around to watch the displacer beast lunge for the spot she had just been in.

She didn't even scream, her purple eyes going wide as she fell, the fog drifting lazily off the jungle edge blinding her as the wind whistled in her ear and the world became soft and white before turning black with a sickening crunch.

Now there were sticks in her hair and there was sand in her-

"Did you know you have a spare set of underwear in here?" The lepus guide helpfully reminded Shehk as she fidgetted at her skirt and shook some of the sand out from a very uncomfortable location, sulking as she headed off towards her final run.

"I'm gonna go play in the snow for a bit." she huffed, reading towards the Ice Racer Course.

Ice Road Runner

THIS WAS THE WORST IDEA EVER!!!

Shehk immediately hated everything about this course.

Snow.

Hail.

EVERYTHING

She hissed in pain as a large and very sharp looking chunk of ice suddenly came flying at her face and she went stumbling back in a flurry (did you see what I did there?) of curses.

Ice Road Runner

Shehk got up despite the fact there was a giant patch of blood in the snow from her getting her face bashed in with ice, looking rather mighty with her angry face on as she continued to scale up the icy road.

Of Iciness.

And got a flag for her efforts. It didn't make her much warmer, though.

Did you know you should have worn a thicker coat?

Yes she did.

She'd been doing really well until another rouge piece of flying ice flew and hit her in the face. As this happened, she slipped backwards in the snow, tumbling backwards down the road as she accumulated snow...

and more snow...

and even more snow...

until a giant Shehk snowball rolled back into Base-camp and had to spend the rest of their time that could be spent flag-hunting being defrosted instead.

THE WATER LAKE

Israfel was pretty sure he was not lucky. Even if his lepus was super nice and helping him and keeping him focused and teaching a bunch of facts- The siren had hardly gotten any flags what so ever. Just two. Two. And that was terrible. But huffing, he couldn't give up yet. He had to do this! For ponies!
"Did you know that when in war, ponies take great care not to tap dance?"

Ponies we very odd.

Shaking his head he was on the water course again, and this time he was feeling much much better. He stayed low to the ground, wings tucked firmly behind his back. Ear wings flat on his head too. Last time he'd gotten stuck with jumping- this time nope! He was staying lowwww and he was going to make a small jump into the water.

"Did you know the scarelympic divers jump over 50 feet into lava?" Huh, he thought it was only 45 feet.
