Seth narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "You realize when you say it like that, it obviously means there is something." Did he have something on his face? Or what? He glanced down at the bag of candies and looked it over as well. Seemed normal to him as well. What the hell.

Rory hesitated. Should he tell the other Rocket that he may have been given pokemon treats?
"I mixed up which pocket I put the bags in," he began in a normal voice, "I thought those were Pinkie's treats. It was nothing, though!" he brushed the incident off, hoping the other male would as well.

This caused Seth to pause and stare at Rory for a moment.
...
"They're not, right?" Seth asked with an edge to his voice. They had better well not be Pokemon treats! If they weren't, then all would be fine. However, it was a little annoying to think that he could have been given Pokemon treats. That certainly would not have gone over well.

Rory smiled sheepishly.
"Well I think so," he mumbled. "There's one way to find out," he motioned for Pinkie to stand up and showed her the bag he still had.
"She won't touch chocolate but she will eat every treat in the bag if I let her," he took one out and held it out for his pokemon.
Pinkie spotted the tiny little object she was hunting for in her trainer's hand. She gave a happy cry and ate the treat from his hand. She loved her treats!

Seth continued to watch suspiciously. If what Rory said was true, then the Ponyta's reaction to the treats would mean that what he had was the actual chocolate. This seemed to appease the elite, and he didn't question the origins of the bag of chocolate any further and finished chewing the piece that was already in his mouth.
He then eyed the grunt for a moment, as if sizing him up. "What's your name and rank?"

Rory handed Pinkie one more treat before pocketing them. She didn't need too many of them after all.
At the elite's question Rory stood up straighter. "Rocket Grunt Roranicus, sir. Specializing in genetic modification of pokemon." Or cleaning and sanitizing nearly every surface in the lab, but he didn't need to know that bit.

That was certainly an odd name, but Seth wouldn't question it. He'd heard stranger ones, not all of them being code names either. But his specialization drew a groan from the elite.
"So you work in the labs, then," he said with distaste. Great. There went his thoughts back towards that woman again.

Rory heard the disgust in the elite's voice and wondering what had brought it on. He seemed fine a minute ago. He took a breath and shrugged.
"Well right now it's more like clean the lab, but yes," he responded.
Pinkie was getting bored laying by her trainer but she didn't feel like restarting the chase with her new friends. Instead she decided to sniff the new man again.

Another piece of chocolate went into his mouth. He chewed and swallowed before adding, "That's unfortunate." Not so much for Rory as it was for Seth's mood. Although most people Seth knew in the labs, were not people he cared to associate with. There had been one exception to that rule, but now she was no longer an exception.

"It's not so bad over all," the grunt shrugged. "Maybe I'll help them create pokemon like these eventually," he motioned to the odd colored creatures that belonged to both of them, respectively.
"Or an even better looking Charmander than the shiny ones. Have you ever seen a shiny Charmander?" Rory asked curiously. The elite looked older than him by a few years, maybe he had traveled more too?

Seth huffed lightly at the thought. "None of these are lab created. I only have one such Pokemon." Artificial Pokemon were generally not his thing, with one exception. And that Pokemon tended to see the light of day even less than the ones currently out, and with good reason.
"I have, actually," he then remarked at the question of a Shiny Charmander. "A former partner of mine use to have one."

Rory's eyebrows shot up. He had noticed the shiny Luxray but he had figured the other two had to have come from the labs.
"They hatched that way?" he couldn't keep the surprise out of his voice. He hoped to, one day, figure out how they managed to hatch different from the typical species.
Rory stared off, slightly wistfully. "One day I'll catch one for myself," to have a huge black Charizard at his side would be the greatest thing he could imagine. Well one of the greatest things.

"Like I said.. she came from a breeder," Seth said, indicating the Typhlosion. So yes, she had hatched that way. It was unusual, but certainly not impossible for Pokemon with different colorations to hatch, even ones different from what was referred to as shiny.
Beta on the other hand... "I built the Porygon myself." After all, Porygons were originally man made. Thus it hadn't come from the lab either, but from Seth himself.
"Hm... good luck with that." Seth mused, knowing full well how difficult it was to find a natural shiny in the wild.

Rory took a long look at the Porygon-Z. He had been too busy with the elite and his Ponyta that he hadn't gotten a good look at the floating pokemon.
"You did a great job on him," he commented as he brushed aside the other man's negative comments. It wouldn't do if both of them got into a depressed mood.

Seth straightened up a little, seemingly pleased with the compliment, although he knew Beta wasn't without flaws. Mostly from the experimental disc that had caused it to evolve into Porygon-Z. Since it had been one of the first. But at least someone appreciated his efforts.
He paused and surveyed the landscape that surrounded them. "If you're looking for a shiny Charmander. Your best bet would be here in the desert." That is, if he wanted a wild one.
