Rocket Agent Star

PostPosted: Mon Mar 12, 2012 2:55 pm

"Yes.. ingenious..." He muttered, wearing his disapproval blatantly. As they entered the hangar Star's eyes swept over to the disassembled machine. He shrugged at Frost's comment about its current state, "I don't really care what it looks like. I hated building these things..." He ran a finger along the craft's hull as he walked past it, "If Temero's going to insist on reusing this, I could draft a less ridiculous exterior..."

Frost paused, tilting his head and turning Star's tone over in his head. Yes. That had definitely been disapproval, and his certainty of that was compounded by the spindly man's comments. A pride stung? Yes. Badly. Head of his own department brought down to building somebody else's designs... designs that no doubt surpassed his own in many ways; Frost did not imagine for a moment that Star possessed a mind like Deimos'. Did Star recognise that fact, he wondered, or did he delude himself to salvage his ego?

Mmmmh.

"The Boss is not the sort of man to waste resources so far as I gather; if he was he would not be where he is today," Frost replied, tones as cool and unemotional as ever. "He may appreciate your input on aesthetics... especially if you are to become an Executive." Star had come here because he wanted... power? It wasn't just a lack of creative freedom that had driven him to do so much and be so blatantly bitter, surely?... Well, not unless he had a severely artistic temperament in any case. Frost did not approve of artistic temperaments.

Gray boots carried a uniformed Agent steadily across the hanger floor, while the black fingers of a gloved hands followed their way along the still assembled sections of the Yanmega jet.
Hazel eyes, looking like they could use a good nights sleep stayed focused on her observations, while a black Porygon, keeping pace just over her shoulder hummed softly as he seemed to be taking it seemed to be taking its own information.

It was exciting to have reached into this machine and gotten to take a closer look inside. Agent Faleen had been anxious about it at first, but the more she got to have a hands on approach about this tech, the more she was starting to get the itch to dig a bit deeper... It might be worth a look.

She was aware of the fact that there were other Rockets in the hanger, going about their various tasks, so hearing voices talking around her simply faded into the background.
It wasn't until her fingers followed around the other side of the jet and to the trails of missing casings and parts that gaped deep into where the engines had settled, did she notice something was out of place within the usual personnel.

Faleen stopped, catching Porygon off guard as he nearly bumped into her shoulder with an uneasy whirring.
Giving herself a couple of seconds to take in the scene of the two men before a soft frown lightly touched the corners of her lips.
That was Agent Frost, nothing unusual there, he was working on this disassemble as well, but that... that was the Galactic they had picked up.

She paused here, letting the first question of 'what is he doing here?' drift though her mind, and just as easily dismissed it. Frost was not stupid, he wouldn't- none of Rocket would- permit this man to be in the tech department less they didn't think it was a problem.
Therefor, it wasn't a problem for Faleen... at least she tried to convince herself of this.
Still... She had not heard any news of what this tall man's part was to play in the events to come, and seeing as how hard she's worked with the rest of them, she would quite like to know.

"Agent Frost." The young women offered a calm smile to the Agent as she drew closer to the two men.
Keeping her eyes mostly on her comrade, though they did glance over to Star with a polite but cautious interest.
There wasn't mistaking this Galactic now, she might not have had a good look at him while he was flying along side the chopper, but now that she could see his face, see the long angled features, graying hair with the single red spike, and the sharp red eyes set under thick, shaped eyebrows.

Yes, Faleen had seen this one before; the one that called out her bluff and exposed them during their mission...
"Am I to take this as a sign that something's been worked out with the Boss?"
The women looked to Frost again, as if mostly asking him.

Ah, Faleen. Frost nodded slightly both to greet her, and to give the affirmative to her question. "Star informs me that they have reached an accord," he confirmed. "His movements are restricted, will be monitored, and he must be accompanied when he leaves his room until our operatives are safely returned to us." She worked closely with Hayes. She probably wouldn't want to hear that he had been looking the worse for wear. He wouldn't say anything then. How very socially aware of him.... Or perhaps it was better to give her all the facts. Difficult.

"I have agreed to give him a tour of the non-restricted areas of the base," Frost went on, "I don't think it would be appropriate to show him anything else in tech yet but he already know this vessel, better than we do ourselves I imagine, so I saw little harm in a brief visit in here. We will be heading up through the other floors next, if you are interested in joining us and can spare the time from your duties." She might have questions of her own to ask after all.

When Faleen spoke Star's eyes twitched from the jet to the female Rocket. While she evaluated him he did the same of her. She was familiar. Not just from the plane ride over.

"As a matter of fact, once said operatives are safely returned I'll be granted Executive status and, in all likelihood, take over this department." He gestured vaguely at the room. "So I expect you'll be seeing a lot more of me in the future..." It hit him. She'd been on the team that infiltrated HQ. He could see her face in his mind now, disguised as a Galactic with her cluster of teammates.

Arching an eyebrow, Star's gaze drifted back to Faleen, "Ahhh.. I remember.. you were at the airship." He said this with a rather lofty tone, considering the last time Faleen'd seen him before today he was dangling from Nyx's aggron begging for his life and telling the Rockets which jet to take.

Frost was quick to explain the situation, and just as thorough. Faleen listened without interruption, keeping her focused locked on the other Agent as he spoke. Though at the mention of this man knowing the vessel more then they do did cause Faleen's glance to shift over to Star, her eyebrows arching up slightly.

"I see." She said with a gentle nod of understanding,
"I don't see the harm ether, in that case."
At the invitation she paused, looking as if she was considering it, but her answer was put on hold when Star himself elaborated a little on the terms of his and the Boss' agreement.

Something in her chest tightened uncomfortably, and for a second she thought she might have misunderstood his words... or was he joking?
She looked back to Frost to see what his reaction was to this, hoping for a sign of if she should take this news seriously or not.

An Executive? And Tech lead?
The Tech department didn't need a lead, Hayes was the lead. This man didn't honestly thing that He could just take that... could he?
Was that really part of the agreement.
She hesitated to comment... they were desperate enough, if those were the terms the Boss had to agree to to get this man to work with them.
Though she hoped.. and suspected that things wouldn't go the way Star was so confidently boasting.

She opened her mouth so say something more, but paused when Star continued in a much different tone, and pointed her out as one of the Rockets on the airship.
"I'm impressed that you have such a good memory for faces." She replied and nodded her head in confirmation.
"I was on that mission, yes." A gentle smile crossed her lips. She certainly didn't forget the events of that mission, and could easily recall how this tall man who gave the impression of importance and grace had just as easily been reduced to a bumbling pleading and cowardly mess, disheveled from various pokemon attacks.
She didn't bring up mention of it, but her smile might have been a little telling.

"I recall that you were part of the team they called to repair that Dunsprace we had disabled."
She folded one hand behind her back, glancing over at the Yanmega Jet "Your specialty lies in tech then." She spoke with a very transparent spark of interest.
That invitation from Frost was starting to look very tempting.

As the conversation didn't seem to involve him for the time being Frost remained quiet. When Faleen glanced sharply at him at Star's mention of his agreement with The Boss he gave an almost imperceptible shrug; he didn't believe Star was lying, but whether or not he ended up getting what he had been promised was another matter.

When he attention didn't seem to be immediately required anymore Frost fetched his 'dex out of a pocket and got on with his requisition request for a Pidgeot from the labs or central storage; no point wasting his time.

Star gave Faleen a curious look when her smirk appeared, like he might be debating the meaning behind the subtle expression.

When she questioned his specialty he wasted no time in answering, "Weapons robotics is my specialty." He placed one hand on his chest and folded his other arm behind his back as he said this, making himself look especially tall and important, "I was head of the robotics department in the original Team Galactic." Every fiber of the man's being oozed pride at the mention of his old job. "However.." He cast a sideways glance at the Yanmega, "Under Deimos' reign I oversaw the construction of these things." There was no pride in this statement. He looked like he hated the dismantled jet beside them.

Frosts reply was simple but it told her what she needed to know, for the time being anyway.

When the galactic continued on about his field of specialties Faleen returned her quiet attention onto him.
Watching the posture he adopted, and a slight tilt of her head, surprised when she learned of the previous title of Robotics lead in the old galactics.

The tone change was unmistakable when he looked to the Yanmega, and her gaze followed.
Clearly it wasn't his mech, it wasn't his creation, he was just the one to build it.
Stuck following someone else designs.

Faleen brow furrowed with a light frown.
It was hard enough being doomed to always be in Deimos' shadow when it came to robot engineering, but to have it shoved in your face every day...
Of coarse it would make sense that Deimos' genius with tech would be the main focus of the robotics department at Galactic. She had not considered that the other Galactics' ideas and individual contributes would undoubtedly be inferior, and therefor not considered.

She couldn't say she would be okay with that either, after all, here in Rocket, work like that was what the inexperienced or not yet proven grunts did.

"Still, I imagine you learn a lot about these machines, if you work so closely with them." She didn't look away, "In our perspective that is a very exciting opportunity, though I understand how your situation would get frustrating."
She knew that feeling personally, it wasn't fun.

Porygon drifted down along Faleen's side, leveling more to her hip while still drifting around to stare at the two men curiously.
the black program pokemon drifting over with more interest when Frost pulled out his Rocket Dex.

"I'm going to assume that's why you defected and came here... Star? was it?"
She asked politely, thinking she recalled him being called that before, and again from Frost.

"It was." Star confirmed before thoughtfully touching his chin, "Of course soon there will be a title in front of that. Probably best to keep in mind before we all get too comfortable with casual names." He chuckled and approached the Yanmega, "Once I'm your superior, 'sir' will be fine."

He glanced back at Faleen, "As to learning a lot about these machines... I've devoted the last decade of my life to translating Deimos' crayon and napkin doodles into useable schematics. Frustrating is an understatement." He turned a glare on the Yanmega, "He saw fit to document his most recent engine modifications by way of dominoes. Dominoes. And who is expected to decrypt one hundred and seventy four images of the ridiculous things spread across the floor of his studio?" The volume of Star's voice was climbing and his constant gesturing was growing more animated, "Me, of course. I deserved a medal for the miracles I performed. I'd love to see another roboticist capable of decrypting a polyhedral electrocuff from an arrangement of children's toys. I've drawn up plans based on everything from ketchup drawn with a french fry to macaroni and paste. And they call him the genius. If anyone deserved praise it was me. And what do I get for requesting a promotion? Told that I'm crazy. There's a five foot one-eyed man in that ship constructing plans out of bendy straws and she thinks I'm the one who needs help!" During the course of Star's rant he'd progressed from rapid gestures to flailing and pacing. When he'd finished speaking he stopped and dropped his arms. After a moment of silence he looked back a the Rockets, "I left for many reasons."

As the Rant started Frost looked up with interest. As he went on his lips pursed ever so slightly. He did not disapprove of Star's frustration - such a chaotic way of recording things would infuriate him too - it was the man's manner that he objected to. He could state his grievances calmly, and he could be a great deal less self important. Sir. He really did dislike calling people sir and it tended to slip his mind in any case. If Star was made an executive he imagined the spindly creature would take lapses with even less grace than elite agent Seth did.

When the former Galactic finished speaking Frost raised an eyebrow. "Have you detailed all of your reasons for departure, Mister Star, or are there others that you would like to elucidate upon?" he asked dryly.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 20, 2012 11:17 pm

Eyebrows arched lightly, keeping her expression calm, yet there was a strained silence from the Agent at the mention of Star being her superior soon.
She was still not sure what to think of that idea... or to really believe it.
But she certainly wasn't going to call him 'Sir' until that title was given to him, If the Boss really felt that Star deserved that title... then so be it.

Faleen was stared any reply when Star then went into a full on rant.
Her calm expression took on a more surprised look as she watched the man dive deeper into the reasons he left the Galactics.
All very valid reasons, Faleen once again could not blame him.

The Rocket found herself having to take a step back, not that it was intimidating, but his arms were very long, and they were being flung around in all sorts of animated gestures, though he was away from them she would rather not be anywhere near their path.
the blond just stood with Frost, watching quietly while he went on, hands folded behind her back in a professional.

A few seconds a silence lingered after his rant, as if to make sure that it was finished, Faleen blinking back at him before her attention turned to Frost as he spoke.
What he said earned a small grin from the agent, though she tried to keep it under control, as not to seem rude.

"It does seem as if this is something that has been building up for quite some time."

Star blinked at Frost's question. When Faleen spoke he frowned and straightened up, composing himself. "..I gave them every opportunity to offer me proper recognition and they ignored it. The point I'm making is that my actions were valid." He folded his hands behind his back. "So what is it you're attempting to divine from this vehicle? It was a fairly recent build.. I still remember a good deal of its schematics."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2012 1:32 am

She held a gloved hand up, to give a light dismissive gesture "You certainly won't hear disapproval for the action you took on my end." she added, with a careless tone that might seem rather cold considering what his actions had been, "Not when it comes to the Galactics."

Her head lifted a little higher when the subject was turned to the Yanmega Jet.
"For quite some time now we've been trying to get a clearer understanding on Galactic Tech, since its proven to be quite advanced." taking a moment to admire the machine. "Right now our goal is learning and discovery, nothing in particular to 'divine' as of yet. If we can understand how Galactic tech works, then it gives up a better chance in dealing with them."
Taking what they learn so that can apply it to their own skills was extremely exciting for every tech Rocket involved.

It was embarrassing to admit to a point, Faleen showed this with a gentle blush despite her calm exterior joined with a shrug.
Forcing herself to glance away from the jet.
Shifting a boot to the side so that she was facing Star with a look of clear intrigue at his comment of still remembering much of its schematics.
"...Perhaps you would be willing to share the information you know?"

"Of coarse if there is no time constraint I'm not aware of." she asked her fellow agent, looking to the blond man.
Even though she was sure he might be interested in hearing what Star had to say about the jet.

He still disliked the man's manner, but as Faleen said they could scarcely disapprove. Star was going to help them find their people, nothing else about him was especially relevant right now. "No time constraints," he said with a shake of his head to Faleen, "I'm not on shift for the rest of today, nor have I prepared a set itinerary for Mister Star's tour. In any case, I would be pleased to hear any insights he might have on some of the more... baffling aspects of the craft." If they could replicate this thing it would be incredible, but he had strong doubts about that; the collective brainpower of the tech department had yet to unlock the mysteries of the G-ball, and he couldn't imagine the jet's propulsion system being any easier to understand. With Star's help though... mmmh, well it would just depend on how well the man understood the hated things that he had been building.
