Winter had been close to leaving. Why'd he even come? Something had drawn him here but there was nothing to keep him here. About to turn, something bumped him on the shoulder. He turned his head and saw a doe. Really he hadn't spoken to others that much, does ... less too. Winter shook his head back and forth. "Sorry, it is my fault. I shouldn't have been standing out here." By myself. "It is difficult to see me, no worries." For a moment he looked towards the others that were around, were there this many before? "Any reason you came out to the cold?" Cold for others but not the furry buck. Maybe this doe would have insight on why they were gathering.

Peregrine smirked, quite the witty stoic type, isn't he? The red-eyed kimeti closed his eyes momentarily, entering a deep meditative state, communing his consciousness with the void. In his mind's eye, Peregrine saw a giant speckled egg with a single crack. Suddenly the crack began to split even further, until the egg consisted of two uncleanly separated, jagged halves. The vision began to blur, and Peregrine opened his eyes, now trained on Hero; Peregrine was ready to decipher and deliver his vision unto Hero. "Times are not hard unnecessarily, but rather a sign of something forth coming, a new beginning." Peregrine shivered, reminded of the cold's ever-continuing presence. Triage came into view, carrying a dead lynx. Good boy, Peregrine thought, happy he would finally be able to appease his grumbling stomach.

Death Coming stalked the bucks and does silently. Crouching behind rocks, bushes and trees, her big ears stood tall taking in the sound of the wind and trying not to enter the tense conversation yet. Waiting to become more comfortable with her surroundings. Unlike her grandmother Wicked Gaze, Death Coming was quite shy. Her fluffy tail wagged with a bit of excitement and nerves for the moment when she would allow the other kimeti to know she was there, but it was cold and the warmth of fire and friends seemed so inviting to let down her guard and join the other kimeti. It seemed like a good idea, Death Coming peaked out of her hiding spot and into the view of the other kimeti. She lowered her ears and crouched forward. Always very formal even in the frigid weather. "I am Death Coming Daughter of Eyes of Wind Granddaughter of Wicked Gaze" she spoke quietly. While imprinting her mark into the snow with her hoof.

Hero grinned, his white teeth flashing in the darkness when the buck spoke again. "Thank you for the prophecy, I will take it to heart." And truly, he did.... he thought that it was all him - this hardship and snow was preparing him for something else, something better. Maybe his Quest would change and he would do something Great to help another. It was both exciting and terrifying at the same time: the future sometimes brought such things. When the eaglehound came to view, Hero nodded his head at the great prize. With the snows, his body was getting tougher and less picky on what he ate. Or, perhaps he had actually learned something from his visit to the Tidewalkers. Either way, he would not ask to partake - his body was satiated; for now, at least. On a much more childish level... he wished Adventure would share its spoils once in awhile - granted, that food was often fairly rotted and spoiled before it was eaten. But even a small bite before it got to that point... It was a good thing (or bad, depending) Hero was on the edge with his new-found acquaintance. When a very green doe (with the cutest tail, he could not help but notice) came in with a very formal greeting, he could not help but bow his head in return, "Hello, and I am Hero. It is nice to meet you. Maybe, though, on better terms and at better times would be more preferable."

Wings Sleep leaned against her roxes as she watched everyone come and go. Maybe it was because she was more towards the edge of the group, that she wasn't spotted by anyone else. A n** on her hoof told her to keep moving. At least there was someone who would keep her going right now. Moon Eyes wanted a warm place to lay, he didn't mind that Wings liked the night and dancing, but this cold was to much for him right now. The little guy nipped the doe again, as he moved towards a larger group of kin. He spotted a doe in the snow and figured she wouldn't mind the company. A quick glance back showed the Wings was following him for once, so he moved closer and huddled into her side, giving her some extra warmth. Wings Sleep watched as her companion moved towards a light colored doe. It seemed that she might not want another kimeti to talk with, but with Moon Eyes against her, Wings couldn't just move on.

Peregrine simply nodded, he was about to speak, but decided instead to use his mouth to eat; the eaglehound placed the killed prey in front him, gonna have to eat this quickly, before it freezes. Triage had already eaten a small portion, having had his fill, he returned the rest to his master. Peregrine took a large bite, chewing the slowly hardening flesh, the blood stained the snow, creating a deep crimson blotch. Raising his head from the meal, having now taken a few more quick bites in succession; Peregrine's red eyes turned to Hero, "care for a few bites? I've had my fill and I cant save the rest; it'll freeze in this weather." Utilizing the crown of his head, Peregrine pushed the killed creature forward. Triage suddenly bounded off once more, apparently his stomach wasn't full, because he was chasing a shadowed figure, likely a small creature, to fill his belly. Natural born hunter, that Triage, Peregrine grinned slightly.

The weather was getting very brutal and as much as King loved brutal things he wasn't used to that certain kind of brutality- the brand new freezing white pelt of the swamp killing slowly all that was once alive. His cave was not a safe place anymore and he could feel that it's rocky walls could not protect him from the outside world. It was quite the other way around. The climate in the cave was even colder and damper than the one outside. He had to go out, if he wanted to survive. Furthermore, for the past few days his faithful partner in crime, Quiet Moon, had not been feeling well.
As much as he hated doing good deeds and being a hero, deep down King truly cared about his eaglehound and he wouldn't let some darned cold take his only friend away from him.
"Get up, Moon! Wake up! We're going for a walk!" the beast whispered gently although he didn't really want it to come out that way. It was more of an order... Yeah! That's exactly how it should've sounded.
Two dark sillhouettes walked out of the cave into the white night, lead by the voices of other kin. Truthfully, King would never admit this to anyone or even to himself but he really just needed to hear someone's voice, to hear a tale... Something to keep him warm.

Death Coming held Hero's attention until the buck was done eating. Under the scrutiny of the red eyes, his own turned back. "How was your meal? I am afraid I never did catch your name, did I?" Looking at the blood-stained snow, Hero's stomach lurched just slightly, for it reminded him of the chest-color of a doe... she was familiar but he wasn't sure... oh yes. His mother's chestfur looked similar to that. The brightness of his eyes dimmed a little - he should find her some time. He wasn't even sure if she was surviving this wretched cold. But there was an offer, and one Hero knew would be a fool to deny. He never knew when he might get his own meal. "Are you sure?" When the buck insisted it would go bad, Hero grinned with genuine please. "Why, thank you! You are too generous." But Hero's stomach could not hold much, he was so used to meager meals now. When he had also had his fill, there was still some lynx left. "I am sorry, I am just not used to eating much anymore," he grinned sheepishly.

"A..lynx..." Sunny slowly peered forward, sniffling, taking in the scent of the lynx. She pokes her nose gently against his fur, taking in the unique feel of the softness and the feel of the fur. Thick, medium length, soft. This was the feel of the lynx. She liked this creature. "Oh uhm.." pink colored her green cheeks. "M..my name is Sunlight Garden but everyone calls me Sunny.." she carefully moved, using one of her forelegs to gently rub against Lost Hope to make she sure moved around him and step on a tail or leg. She came up to Thistledown, poking her nose out a bit to take in the smell of him. "Thistledown..." she repeated his name while memorizing his smell. "Another..." Life glanced behind her and saw four set of tracks coming up in their directions, and one set going back and the right the a bit. She sighed. Sunny had wondered off again. Not that she could blame her daughter exactly. Sunny was blind and still new to the world. Every new smell was something to be explored and learned about. Still..she wished her daughter would at least announce when she was going to wonder off. "Yes..we did. She's wondered off again." She chuckles softly at the doe and tilted her head, indicating the two of them should join the huddled group. "Bud." she nodded to her son, "Sunny has wondered off again. She can't have gone far, go get her and bring her back to the group so we can all rest.." She gives her son an affectionate nudge on his ear and turns toward the darker, color streaked doe. "My name is Life..what are you doing out in this weather?" She walks towards the group. Bud lifts his head when he mother approached. He'd been lightly poking at the fuzzy..thing...with his hoof, seeing if it made noises or talked or anything. He sighed as Life pointed out that, once again, Sunny had wandered away. His sister was starting to get on his last nerve, but he wasn't about to tell his mother no. His body shivered and he shook some of the snow that had accumulated on him while he had been standing there examining the..thing..and began to follow the tracks Sunny had left behind. It was only a couple hundred feet away he spied her standing in the snow and was about to call out to her before he saw the green and white buck standing near her. His eyes narrowed and his heckles stood on end, his fur making him appear just a bit bulkier. He hunkered near a tree and kept the two in sight. He wasn't going to barge in just yet...

She turned her head slowly downwards to the creature suddenly pressed against her side. The small, pointed face was new to her; it held charm. She faintly smiled. A brief survey of the snowy grounds - there: a purple doe was watching them both. "This one. It belongs to you?"

The other doe settled to the ground, but Mint was content to remain standing, undisturbed by the difference in height. Her white tip tail flicked absently as she noted several more new arrivals, unknowingly finding their position as convenient as the other doe did. She nodded at the does explanation, finding their reasoning similar - "I agree with you about the cold, though I tend to prefer the day to the night." The wind gusted past them at that moment, and she shut her mouth lest the wind snatch her words from her. When it subsided, she introduced herself "My name is Mint, may I ask yours?"Marshdove nodded graciously at the buck's quick forgiveness, but at his query her eyes turned pensive again, sweeping over the gathering kin but only half-seeing them. Her voice, when she answered, was just loud enough to be heard, her tone musing. "I'm really not sure... I presume for the same reason that you and everyone else here has come. Something draws us here, perhaps the Motherfather herself..." She tossed her head, ears flipping slightly, stopping herself before she waxed too spiritual. "Did you have any reason in particular, yourself?"

”The day has no mystery.” The doe said in a soft, matter-of-fact way. She was not at all derisive of Mint’s preference of the daytime; she merely gave her honest, blunt opinion. “Mint, I am Carries the Night. Though you may call me what you wish, be it Carries, Night or something entirely different. It matters not to me.” Her gaze continued to shift from one Kimeti to another, studying each one calmly.

Smoldering Reverie smiled a soft haft-smile that softened her ash-white eyes and she took another step closer to hear the buck better. She nodded her thanks when he said that her name was beautiful, the praise sending a wash of warmth straight to her ember heart. A few seconds passed before he offered his name and when he did, Ember found that it did match him very well--the flickering patterns along his sides and the almost guttering existence that seemed to wrap itself around him, like a flame in the wind. "Your name most certainly suits you."
"Would you be amendable to drawing closer to the group or to a tree? It would be warmer or at least there would be shelter from the wind."Jun D I just want to take Flickering home with me, he's so lovely. Hehe, Ember's my baby. And sorry for taking forever to reply!

"The lynx was delicious friend," Peregrine replied to his fellow traveller. "My name is Peregrine." The red-eyed kimeti's gaze drifted to Death Coming, quite the imposing pet he was, lingering next to Hero, although... he didn't seem very protective. Hero accepted Peregrine's food offering, hunkering down to eat for a moment, and apparently filling himself quickly. Peregrine chucked heartily, "your fill is your fill. Tell me, why have your travels led you here..." Peregrine paused for a moment, realizing that he too, hadn't learn the other kimeti's name. Clearing his throat, he spoke, "... What's your name then," smiling as he asked.

Mint did not have the luxury for mystery, but she kept that thought to herself. The day bred life, but more often than not the night ended it- despite it's beauty, her sense of practicality could only appreciate it so much. And so introductions were over and a comfortable silence fell, both does observing the gathering kin, neither particularly conversational in their own right, until Mint again felt compelled to broach the silence she would have otherwise nutured, there were questions that she sought answers to tonight - "Why do you think we've all gathered here?"
