A month would certainly make my housemates a little jealous. And in the case of some, more than a little! Leo grinned, chuckling. Truly, he was more than content to stay with Love for as long as the god wished. It was nice just to be himself and enjoy another's company.

A month it is, then! he said, sharing his companion's grin. Leo seemed amused by the prospect of making his housemates a little jealous, and Rio would be happy to oblige. If he weren't vain enough already, he would soon be more so.
Will my marks be alright, do you think, or does anyone get tattoos that aren't marques?

Making housemates jealous was always a fun game of a sort. Besides it would be a great story to share, with the bonus that as at least it was partly true. He was looking forward to seeing the look on the Dowayne's face when he introduced her to Rio. It would be priceless!
It's very rare, but it does happen. Such things aren't done cheaply, after all, at least in Terre d'Ange. There is nothing to say you aren't a bit worldly and had it done elsewhere in your travels. He went back to tracing lazy circles on Rio's temporarily wingless back, resting his head on the god's shoulder and nuzzling his neck. I rather like them personally, lends you a more exotic sort of appeal. Adding to himself after, because he couldn't admit it aloud even if his actions had already said as much (who knew how many times over). Not that you aren't handsome regardless.

Why thank you, he responded to the compliment, clearly pleased both by it and the cuddling. He traced a finger lightly down Leo's side, continuing to think. What is there, outside of Terre d'Ange?
If he was going to have been a traveler, he would definitely need to know!

I haven't traveled abroad myself, though I would like to, so the best I can give you is secondhand knowledge from books. He shivered and pressed a kiss to Rio's neck before continuing. Caerdicca Unitas shares a border with Eisande. It's a group of city states, each with their own laws and customs. Tiberium and La Serenissma are the two city-states you hear about the most.
Tiberium is one piece left of what used to be an empire that encompassed most of the land around it. When the empire collapsed, it broke up into several countries. Now it's famous for its Universities, as well as a massive library, and people from all over go to study there.
La Serenissma on the other hand is the opposite of Terre d'Ange in nearly every way possible. Things are very...strict. It's government is complicated, even I don't really understand it. The City itself is built up from a system of canals, that are supposed to be quite old.
He sighed softly, the next bit wasn't really pleasant, at least not in his mind. They do not treat love and the expressions of it like D'Angelines do. Marriage is for power, status and heirs and often not your own choice. Women are little better than property, most have little education if any at all. You cannot love someone of the same gender...well...at least you can't be open about it. And courtesans like me... He laughed nervously. It's supposedly gotten a little better in the last century...but they aren't treated well. Also, there are very few male courtesans in La Serenissma since fidelity and virginity until marriage are very important for women.

Hmm...Rio looked thoughtful while Leo explained Caerdicca Unitas, his brow furrowed slightly. Some elements of it reminded him of what he knew of Italy, in a way. The names of the city-states, the former empire, the city built on a system of canals. Was Leo from a parallel 'Earth' of some sort? The possibilities and branchings of worlds and histories was overwhelming, when he tried to really think about it; it was much easier to grasp by just accepting it and not dwelling too much on why or how.
He frowned unhappily at the description of La Serenissima, his distaste clear. Nngh, how medieval. Still, it was also the sort of place he could get up to all kinds of mischief. Maybe I should pay them a visit someday.
Still curious about the possibilities of the world's origin, he inquired further, Is there anywhere else?

Leo was glad then that he left out a few things about La Serenissma, they probably would've irked Rio. He did wonder what Rio must be comparing it to, to call it medieval. From his point of view society functioned quite well, albeit with the occasional quirk. However, he didn't realize how small his view of things really was.
Many many other places. He chuckled. This young man spent a good deal of his time in the library. He had memorized most countries' names and a bit of their histories, planning trips to far off lands he would likely never take. But it would take far too long to explain it all. Aragonia...and Menekhet mayhap, if you felt particularly adventurous, but that's quite a ways to go. It was too bad he didn't have a map, it would make things a bit easier.

Love made a thoughtful sound...not knowing for certain whether he was right, or fully guess what might be equivalent to what, he would probably not be the best at making decisions of where they should travel to, if they did. Is there somewhere you would like to go?

Leo made a little sheepish noise and blushed deeply. That is...quite the list actually.

I do happen to have a magic horse, so... Leo looked really adorable just then, and Rio kissed his nose, unable to resist. Just don't tell him I called him that, or he'll be terribly offended and might not take us anywhere.

If it was possible, he blushed a bit deeper when Rio kissed him on the nose. No one had done that to him since he was a child! That had been eleven years ago, at his first Midwinter Masque. I won't say a word. It might be best if we stuck to Terre d'Ange for now, there is a lot worth seeing just there. He smiled softly. That and a lot of the places that seemed interesting from books...I don't know the language the locals would speak wherever we might go.

I guess I'll have to find out another way, he 'threatened,' sticking his tongue out a little.
If Echo was any indication, maybe I would pick things up if I listened enough. It would make sense...moreso than a god not being able to understand potential followers, I would think. I actually feel silly for not thinking of it before. Maybe I should experiment with Nashwa. He'd heard bits and pieces of her own language from her, but she was fluent in the common tongue so many seemed to share, so the issue of understanding had never come up.

I'd be willing to learn them, but it would take me far longer than it would you. He nodded. It's certainly worth a try.

We'll hardly be pressed for time, I think. Rio's own responsibilities were few and far between, and he liked it that way. It freed him to, well, do what he did best.

It took me years to learn Cruithne and what I do know of Caerdicci, which is barely enough to make a decent conversation. The part of this equation Leo seemed to conveniently forget was that Rio was a god and time probably didn't mean as much to Love as it did to himself.
