"Thanks," She shot Gale and Madison a grin, nodding and looking at the files when it was tilted in her direction by the latter; the North Pole? She read through each file, sounding a little distracted as she continued, "Christmas, huh? Well, we're no longer under cookie-influence, so there's that." Yup, she didn't feel the urge to giggle or smile. All was good and normal.
As Aria went on to explain the mission, a slight frown started tugging at her lips; to send a bunch of intermediate trainees and trainees to a base than had obviously been attacked, broken into and thus, had all communication cut off?
"That sounds like another of those missions where their goal is," She muttered before pausing, looking from Gale to Madison, and then back to Gale again; her personal policy was 'to only take lead if someone screwed up', although she had just been really bossy in the past; just the whole 'being with her old Beta mates' thing tended to send her into a bossy streak.
"In regards to leading, I'm going to say that I've seen Gale take charge in the past, and I'm confident that he would be able to do it again," She explained, remembering the events post-Christmas. Madison's comment made sense, and she nodded in agreement, "If Life and Moon still lacks numbers after Mist decides, I wouldn't mind helping... However, as it stands, they're the jack of all trades, and had been asked specifically to assist." She shrugged; as much as she liked being in Death, she understood that these things happen and that they should help each other out. For the better good. Or something.

"Ugh," said Gale dryly, with a look over at Ariane. He shook his head slightly. "I can just imagine how it would be if all of us were hopped up on some of Julie's cookies..."
Idly he twisted the edge of one paper upwards, his other hand slowly massaging the side of his head as he read the notes. A facility that had been attacked and cut off from the rest of Deus Ex was certainly suspicious, after all, but the information on the research was not complete. They would have to look for more on the actual mission.
Maddie's voice, however, dragged him out of his inner musings, and Gale glanced up, nodding. "Don't worry, we won't let you fall behind or anything," he reassured her. "You're already capable, it's just a matter of getting settled in a different sort of way."
Ariane's comments made his cheeks tinge just the palest shade of pink, and Gale, pleased in spite of himself by her unexpected praise, nodded, and said "I...wouldn't mind leading the mission this time, if you two are all right with it."
He glanced over at the other divisions, frowning slightly, but he nodded at Ariane's decision.
"I'll lead, then," he said, in a much more confident tone of voice.

...So they were teenagers. Right. They couldn't control themselves even on a mission.
Okay cool story, bro.
Candace sighed and tried not to roll her eyes. They really needed to work on that, apparently. "Alrighty." She said a little too cheerfully. At least it meant she wouldn't have to see them..gushing over each other. She wanted to do that. She wanted to gush.
Oh god! Was she going to have to listen to that s**t over a headset?! It wouldn't have bothered her before but..s**t! "Do you want to be my assistant then? And we leave Life to Before? You'd like that, right?" The last part was directed to the boy on Cass' other side. He missed Life, right? So he'd be happy helping them!
Jerry's voice raised and Candace instinctively looked up to see what was the matter, watching him without saying a word at first. "..You're leaving, Jerry?" She asked with a frown, disappointed both for the fact that he was leaving when this was the first time she had seen him days and...well..he was leaving what was possibly a very good opportunity! Didn't he want to..? "But--" Leave him be. Atropos chided gently, earning a sigh from Candace as she turned back to the files. Fine. Do whatever you ******** want, Jerry. Make it even clearer how much you didn't even want to see her face. Not that he didn't..deserve to feel that way but it hurt...

"Madison and I will assist then?" She gave the other girl a grin and a hearty pat on the back before turning back to look at Gale, "Don't worry! He's right... You're still alive and you made it past the trainee phrase! I'm sure that you'll do well! We're all still learning, after all."

Madison grinned, relieved. "Yeah, that's all good with me. Thanks, guys. We'll kick some serious butt... if needed." She frowned slightly as she looked back at the papers on the table. "Not Christmas, huh... what else is there? Ugh, Cupid... the Easter Bunny... they aren't all real too, are they?" Oh, man, she could just see them being attacked by flights of ******** fat babies with arrows. Gah.

Oh, it was probably more that if Cass got into a sliver of trouble, Marcus would drop everything to save her a**. It was funny how caring about each other made strange stuff like that happen. Either way, it was no skin off of Cass's teeth.
"I think that'd be fine. I have a lot I could probably learn from you, Candace, and this seems like a good opportunity for it." Cass said, content to let Before go help out Life - maybe it would be better if he slowly acclimated to what they division did anyways.
Or the Life Division would symbiote him back into their possession. Whichever.

What? Candace's cheeks actually flushed hotly at the comment, and she was very clearly thrown off guard by it. That was..wow! Really? From her? Someone..someone actually looked up to her? "Wo-wow! Um..thank you, Cass! That actually means a lot to me to hear right now. Heh." She chuckled and rubbed at the back of her neck, a helpless smile replacing her frown.

Cass just grinned widely, nodding. "You're welcome. Besides, it'll be nice to spend some time with a girl for a change." If there was anything Cass was good at doing, it was somehow surrounding herself with guys. She wasn't even kidding. It was her secret magic power or something.
And Nicodemus hated it.

Nevermind.
"Don't forget the other Mist girls~. Though there're some boys now too.." But hopefully the amount of gathered estrogen would rule out the few male Mists that had been awakened lately. "Molly and Mercedes should do fine..Emmaline, too." But she didn't know anything about Sydney, nor did she really know how any of the boys functioned. "...Justin is going to think this is a dungeon raid." Goddamnit!

Bix was actually listening to all the bargaining going on in the room. Moon Division still didn't have any help and, as much as he hated to admit it, he'd come to a bit of an understanding with Marcus lately. Seemed like Before was going to help Life division and the Death hunters hadn't quite worked out what they were doing. "Jordan can lead." He nodded to the other Suns only seconds before Jerry said he was leaving. "I was actually going to volunteer helping Moon as well... but ..." If Jerry really bailed he would just be assisting Jordan. "If Marcus wants a Death hunter than I will just co-assist with Jerry." As it stood, Bix didn't know Jerry very well. He knew the man seemed to have a razors edge between his mishmash of emotions but the current situation eluded him. Even Candace, whom he thought was Jerry's squeeze, seemed to be a lame duck in this situation. Perhaps something happened between them? Jerry wouldn't even look at the girl. "Jerry," he said it softly, just a whisper, "No one texted you. Not during a mission from a leader. Whatever the issue is, you can do it." He was fishing now, fishing for anything. HA! Beatles lyrics! "You get by with a little help from your friends... right?" At least he was trying.

Before would have loved nothing more than to help out the Lifers! 8DDDDD Happily he nodded to his fellow Misties, "That would totes be great!" he beamed, smiling a wide smile that reached ear to ear. He was going to be a pretend-Lifer~ It was almost as good as being one and and and he'd get to work with ~Story~ and Sherry and even Leon! He gave Candace and Cassandra a thumb's up for luck, though he was keeping his focus more on Cass than Candace but they were hopefully too busy talking about girl-bonding-time to notice that.
Excusing himself, he headed towards Robert to ask what he could do as an Assistant on this mission. With giddy steps, he hurried over to the huge Lifer. And then remembered where they would be going and that he was going to have to be an Assistant. Suddenly this mission didn't seem to be all that awesome. 8C

"Justin......" Cass seemed to make the same face as Candace did for a minute, before laughing. "Maybe before we go we should make some kind of achievement for him to earn by coming along and doing well." she joked, though really it did seem like a solid idea.
"And we do have a lot of new Trainees to get into the ropes, so hopefully those we've just woken up will be ready to go and see what we're all about. 'cause I think with the External Missions we've had lately they haven't been able to get a real...taste? of anything?"
Sure it gave them vague ideas, but still Cass felt it would have been important to give them some action with some real danger to it.

Jordan nodded to Bix; good, there wasn't going to be a problem about it. Then Jerry made a thread-thin excuse and stood suddenly, and Jordan looked up, frowning with concern. "Jerry," he said. You don't know, he reminded himself, and put a hand on his friend's arm. "What is it?" Bix was asking what was wrong, too, but then - Jordan winced at the line the other man had chosen. Lyrics were a good idea, yes, but dammit, Bix, why did you have to pick that song?

Jerry's expression turned miserable at the sound of her voice, his head lowered as he clutched his phone tightly, "I... I just... I need... I aught to..." He babbled uselessly. Keep it together, just keep it together! It was just a mission! He could DO this! Personal feelings aside, just roll with it, just... He mumbled a faint something that was hardly understandable before rushing for the door and slipped out into the hallway. He had never left a mission briefing before. Would he get in trouble? He didn't care. He needed... air.

"Ugh, if we have to fight the Easter Bunny, I'm quitting," said Gale sardonically, rolling his eyes in amusement. He shook his head and rifled through the papers in the file again, though he had already mostly memorized them. "And with Doc H being how he is, it's like we're already being terrorized by Cupid - though in a very roundabout, creeper sort of way..."
With a glance up at Aria, Gale said decisively. "We've decided that I'll lead and Ariane and Madison will assist. We're waiting for Mist to decide what they want first, but Ariane has offered to help one of the other divisions if they still need members after."
