Where in the world did you find the name of his mother? Did they update wikipedia or something because i don't recall reading that.
And i do believe gaara's uncle said in the show that his mother never wanted him and did in fact hate him. It was her wish for gaara to learn to love himself because she well knew that he would be unwanted by his own village. I remember that specifically. His uncle could have been lying...but at that point he would have no reason to.

Haha, Yashamaru could be lying. Maybe he didn't know how's her feeling towards Gaara. Gaara's mom name is Karura. Check the Naruto Databook 2. Kishimoto named her and the 'Ra' is the same as Gaara's 'Ra' and so, maybe she named Gaara after her.

Great info!!!
I hate Yashamaru more than anyone. He toyed with Gaara's injured heart and made him think that at least somene loved him when it was a lie. His dad was a real jackass, true but I don't hate him as much as Yashamaru.
About his mother...I don't know wethere to dislike her or not...=/
His brothers though, rock my socks!!! blaugh
