Well, that was anticlimactic. Laxus let out a sigh, he'd half hoped Kensei would have put up a fight so Laxus could have actually attacked him. "Knock him out carefully, Gotcha." He said, a smile crossing his face. He was told carefully, so he'd be well away when knocking Kensei out. Short of turning him around and using swift earth to run him into a tree, or using the Rock Shield to uppercut the guy, using another solid technique would be the best option. Laxus himself wasn't strong enough to combat kensei, and likely to knock him out, no matter how spot on Laxus' attack was.
"Earth Clone." Laxus said, a circle of rubble rising from the ground next to him. The rubble rose, breaking and solidifying until it had a roughly humanoid shape. This shape refined repeatedly as bits flaked off or condensed. Joints formed, moving lightly to insure functionality. The body's aesthetic features began to appear, hair forming and clothing being formed. The face began to appear where before there had just been a flat surface of slate grey. The eyes and mouth formed closed, and slowly the eyes opened with a grating noise, like two sheets of sand paper rubbing together. The clone turned to Laxus, opening it's mouth as the outer layer flaked off, color being revealed underneath. It was almost like the outermost layer was a coat of paint that was peeling. "So what now?" It said in a lower gravely-er version of Laxus' voice. "Oh, just knock him out." Laxus said smiling. That clone would be able to knock Kensei out no problem. Laxus might not be fast or strong compared to Kensei, but make a stone clone and drop an elbow to Kensei's neck would definitely knock him out. And that's just what the clone did. It lumbered over to Kensei, slower than even the slowest academy student. It made it to Kensei in a couple of seconds, since the distance wasn't exactly that great. The Earth clone definitely wasn't functional in combat where speed was needed.
The Earth clone walked next to Kensei, and dropped on his side, holding his elbow out, gripping his fist and driving the bottom of his elbow directly into Kensei's neck.

With the constant mist in the village, Kirigakure didn't get much sunlight, and as a result, any plant that wasn't a moss didn't get too big. But here, high in the mountains where sometimes even the clouds were lower than the village, he was not surprised to see such enormity, though he was still humbled by it. He now realized how much smaller everything was in Kirigakure, so much closer to the ground.
Looking at the trees, Yamatano almost ran straight into what looked to be a training session. And of all the people it could possibly be, it consisted of Kensei, Sora, and Laxuz, the three Kumo nin he had encountered in Suna. It was good to see the team keeping at their combat training, though it looked more like the end of capture training. Kensei looked trapped, and the genin were closing in. Yamatano decided to stay and watch how this played out before stepping in, not even noticing the white haired child a few trees away as the scene unfolded.
“…Must first find out how to get past me.”

'Bingo.' Shikaku grinned most unprofessionally as, even as the sounds of combat indicated Kensei being properly captured behind him, a rustling bush directed his attention to the ground, where said same man was scurrying away on all fours, away from the action. So he was right, this was all a distraction. Why bother he didn't know, but then he didn't understand why he'd come here in the first place, when he'd have to go back through the village to escape anyways... But, they could worry about that when they had the traitor in hand. For now, he needed to make a choice, either signal to the others, let them know somehow that their opponent was most likely a clone, or give chase and hope they heard the sounds of him being brutally murdered and came to... Yeah, he'd go with the first.
Turning around back towards the combat he drew his crossbow again, intending to put his spare kunai through the clone's back. That would be signal enough without him saying a word after all, but even as he slotted the kunai into place and began pulling back the catch, he saw it. Several yards ahead and a bit to the side, a white haired boy, several years older than himself at a guess, was climbing one of the remaining gargantuan trees, watching the fight. Who was this? And better yet, what was he doing there? An ally would have assisted in the fight, but this older youth was just sitting there watching, like the events below didn't even matter. Was he an ally of Kensei then? That would explain it, since the boy would know the Kensei below was a clone. But then what were his intentions? Was he going to attack to make sure they couldn't follow the man?
Shikaku resisted the urge to growl in frustration as he stole another glance back at the real Kensei. The man was going to escape if he didn't do something, but if he did give chase, and this new player delayed the others, he'd be dead long before they could help him. So, the new threat had to be eliminated, and quickly too before Kensei could get too large a lead. Finishing up the act he'd begun and readying the crossbow to fire, with the barbed kunai instead, he aimed just above the youth's spiky white head, and fired. The instant the barbed kunai dug into wood, he flipped the catch on his gauntlet to reel in the wire, and poured a bit of chakra in as well. He aimed to slam his entire body into the older boy, and hopefully knock him out of the tree for the others to deal with. This was already risky enough, but if the boy was as strong as Kensei? Yeah, either this worked or he was screwed.

And really Greg, you can't even begin to claim you didn't see something like this coming. XD Shikaku is way too paranoid to just assume some mysterious new arrival is friendly.

Stupid Laxus Kensei watched as his clone was knocked out by Laxus. His clone dropped like a rock as soon as Laxus elbow came into contact with the body. Shortly after the clone hit the ground began to catch fire. A few moments later it suddenly exploded with the power of a paper bomb taking Laxus' clone with it.. That could have been Kensei if he didn't make the clone or if allowed himself to get captured. Except for exploding. For now Kensei just took a mental note of Laxus' action and began to crawl away. He's on the list now. As he continued to crawl he looked back to check the distance between him and the others. His view was blocked by a couple of trees. ALright I'm pretty much clear. Kensei stood up quickly and ran off into the village center.

《Blue Bird》 《Run Around》  Sora couldn't hide a grimace as she watched Laxus do as she ordered. She didn't know enough about combat to understand how dangerous Laxus's attack was to Kensei, trusting Laxus to know the proper amount of force for knocking someone out. Therefore, she didn't make any other complaint about it. She probably wouldn't have had the time anyways. Following the crack of Laxus's elbow attack, another crack followed, one that sounded different and came from above. Sora didn't get the chance to look up either, though. In fact before she even had the chance to release her chain jutsu, Kensei exploded into flames, taking Laxus's clone with him and successfully distracting Sora from Shikaku's rather daring tackle into Yamatano.
Sora, horrified, stared at the scene for a good few seconds with the belief that Kensei had just committed suicide before it finally dawned on her, Relief flooded her first before being quickly overtaken by a sense of urgency. Sora realized, Suddenly, it all seemed to make sense to her, the rush of her thoughts covering any holes that might exist in this supposedly complete logic. Kensei had no qualms about approaching her and Laxus because it wasn't really him. The same reason held for why he was seemingly idling in the forest rather than rushing to the gates. This was all just a decoy, and for all Sora knew, the real Kensei was already at the gates.
Almost everything in Sora's mind told her to make a bee-line for the gates, but she somehow still retained enough sense of her surroundings to look up and figure out the source of the unnatural second crack. A second, lesser shock followed this action as Sora saw Yamatano and Shikaku in rather worrisome poses, as if they were fighting. She didn't know what was happening between them, but just Yamatano's presence (and Shikaku's to an extent; Sora had assumed Shikaku to the type to not reveal his presence unless absolutely necessary/beneficial), made things a lot more complicated than simply running to the gate. Sora tried to solve everything at once as she bounded up to the level of the two white-haired ninja, gesturing at Laxus to do the same. Naive as she was, she didn't even get to suspecting Yamatano like Shikaku had done. By the time she had gotten close enough where it would be strange for her to not say anything, all Sora had realized was that the only thing she could do was create a shoddy cover-up and politely ask the Kiri shinobi to leave. Positioning herself so as to prevent any further exchange of blows between Shikaku and Yamatano, Sora performed a quick bow in Yamatano's direction to show respect. Then, in a rather strained voice, Sora ordered to the other two genin, "Shikaku, Laxus, continue the exercise. I'll catch up." As her teammates hopefully understood and left, Sora would take a moment to see what direction they were going in before giving another small bow to Yamatano as she asked, "I'm sorry, but please excuse us to continue without any third party disturbances. If you have any questions, I'm sure someone at the Raikage's office will be of help." The stock reply came with a matching generic smile before Sora dashed off after her teammates, giving Yamatano no time to reply. On the second branch she tried to land on, she got at it at a bad angle, slipped off, caught herself on another branch before going splat into the ground, intentionally dropped the rest of the way down, and continued the chase on the rather safer surface of the ground. The clumsy sequence of actions wasn't all that strange, but the lack of any equally whimsical noises was uncharacteristic of Sora.

"I swear that isn't what is supposed to happen..." Laxus said, looking at the pile of smoldering remains of where Kensei's clone had been. He looked back to Sora to see her rushing off somewhere else. 'Okay, so I'm not being scolded for blowing Kensei up. Bonus for Laxus.' He thought to himself, a smile crossing his face. He'd never really fought any other shinobi, so he didn't realize the katon clones exploded after they were hit. Laxus turned and followed suit, jumping up into the trees.
"Hup!" Laxus said as he landed, closer to Yamatano than Sora had been. His magnetic field picked up Yamatano's hidden blades, so he wasn't exactly worried. He also picked up a kunai embedded in the tree, and a wire going off in a direction Laxus assumed Shikaku was in. What happened next didn't really bother Laxus, Yamatano would probably squash Shikaku quickly. This wasn't an ideal situation for Shikaku, Yamatano wasn't a push over, and if he'd really wanted to, he could have simply waited for Shikaku to get into range and extended his hidden blades to gore Shikaku before it even happened. "Oi! Slow down before you run into our boss!" Laxus yelled, side stepping along the tree, along the wire's path and applying force to Shikaku's crossbow itself, enough to slow him down so he'd only land on the branch and slowly skid toward Yamatano, instead of flying up directly at him. "Yammatano, after we're done with this, let's go get a bowl of Ramen. If I still have a job after this..." Laxus said, after hearing Sora tell him and Shikaku to continue. "You were the eyes, lead the way Shiki-kiki-kaki-ku." Laxus said, playfully poking fun at Shikaku. Laxus smirked a bit, Shikaku was going to probably be a tad bit miffed that Sora used his name in the presence of a foreign shinobi, one that Shikaku might need to spy on or some other stealthy thing. Assassinate was out of the question, Shikaku didn't seem skilled in much of anything, except sneaking. After Shikaku began to lead the way, or tried to fight him, Laxus would follow suit.

Nagisa couldnt stop thinking about how lucky the man was, that he hadn't gotten any nosier at the factories. Clearly he was smart enough to realize he wouldnt be welcome there. Perhaps he assumed he was being watched, or had noticed Nagisa tailing him. It would be terrible if Kiri and Kumo went to war because of a nosey messenger. That wasn't nearly as troubling as when they reached the forest and found Sora's examination team. If he assumed it was a training exercise, he would merely collect as much info on the nin as possible, but if he thought it was legitimate he might step in... Not to mention the exam itself appeared to be at a crucial stage. The team had captured what was clearly a bunshin as Kensei wouldn't walk towards the enemy so casually, and could easily escape that jutsu. Sora had taken too long to realize this, or was playing safe. Kensei was probably "escaping" and her success relied on uncovering that fact. If Yamatano stepped in he could ruin it all.
She hadn't even considered the other option. Shikaku, who she hadn't noticed right away, leaned out of cover holding what appeared to be a crossbow. He was aiming straight at Yamatano! She had noticed too late, he had already fired and she was too far to do anything about it. She wasnt sure if Yamatano dodged, the bolt missed, or Shikaku was up to something, but it hit the tree rather than the nin. Sora noticed too, and moved in, warning Yamatano off with surprising diplomacy. Nagisa moved closely, but took care to stay hidden while her bugs leaked out of her sleeves and dispersed into the area. Noone was likely to notice the extra bugs, but they might be key if she needed to step in.

Right, I'm gonna go ahead and post following the new timeline that seems to have grown. Sora heard the kunai impact and ran up to get in the way before Shikaku managed to make contact, thus this post begins in midair. Sorta skipping Greg, but it seems a good timing to solidify the timeline before it gets more confusing. ShikakuKumogakure | Spy | GeninSupport | Speed~
Even as Shikaku flew towards his target, intending to knock him down to the team below, said team appeared in the tree, between himself and the white haired youth. Sora was obviously trying to stop the impending conflict, and in the instant available it seemed to him that she recognized the stranger. Not that he would normally care under the circumstances, but she was in charge. Laxus though, seemed to intend to stop him, by jumping right in his flight path. An act which would likely land them both in the hospital later with broken bones due to the speed of the impact being far more than Laxus could actually hope to stop, and his chosen method being likely to injure Shikaku in the process.
Not wishing to suffer that fate, and completely fail the mission in the process, Shikaku twisted his body to the side, shifting his weight and pulling on the wire just enough to alter his course to where he swung around the group. he didn't know if it was luck or latent skill that it actually worked, but as he landed feet first on the side of the tree, grasping tightly to the kunai to hold himself up, he decided to claim the latter if anyone ever asked.
Sure enough, Sora's quick words in the next couple seconds indicated that she knew this individual, and given that she was easily the strongest on the team, in his opinion, he simply nodded as she indicated that he should move on. It made sense, even if it was a hostile for him to continue, he was after all the only one who had seen the real Kensei. So, he hit the catch on his kunai, freeing it from the tree as he dropped down to the branch and reeled it back in fully, freeing up his crossbow in the process. As he swung the larger weapon around to hang it around his shoulder again, he let it pause a moment pointed in Laxus' direction as the older genin intentionally mangled his name, but hung it up without a word on the matter. "He's headed back into the village." he said shortly, before taking off, making his way to the ground by jumping branches of various levels, before darting back along the path to the village, intending to vanish again as quickly as possible.

I will be posting my reaction as I would have reacted, and will consider this the actual course of events. In the future, please do not skip an RPer, especially if his reaction is important to the flow of events. TvIm, a few things. 1) Magnetics would not pick up on hidden blades, it would pick up on metal in Yamatano's wrist area. Yamatano clearly has Iron bracers in his wrist area, so getting Hidden Blades from that is not valid. Second, if he saw Yamatano fight in Suna, he would know about his hidden blades already.) “Those who dare bring harm to my friends, my village, and my way of life…”xxxxYamatano continued to watch the progression in peace, not bothering anyone, when his attention was diverted by a loud 'Thunk!' right above his head, turning around, there was a barbed kunai buried deep in the trunk of a tree, obviously intended for his head. Yamatano turned around- and not a moment too soon, because a tiny child with hair of his own color was flying towards him, with the intent of seemingly taking his head off. Rather than block, Yamatano fell backwards, allowing the boy to continue to fly forward, now over Yamatano's body. Allowing chakra to flow to the soles of his feet, Yamatano now hung upside down on the very branch he had been standing on earlier.
It seemed that in that moment, the rest of the team had noticed him too. Sora asked him not to interfere, despite not having intentionally interfered in the first place, Laxus asked to get food with him later, and Kensei......well, kensei must have been running this mission, because he didn't stop to say anything at all. As soon as they had come, all of them had left, while Yamatano still swung from the same tree branch, dumbfounded as to what had just happened.
After a moment more of upside down contemplation, Yamatano pulled himself back up, determined to no longer interact with anyone should he run into them. "You would think that a shinobi of an allied village would be treated with more respect..." Yamatano thought as he left the forest.
