While he hadn't been actually expected his punch to connect, he supposed in that instant he was glad it did. It was too hard to get enough force behind his twist to do much damage and when she grabbed right back, he let up even more in surprise. Sure, he was probably expecting it in some respects, but it was also awkward and the moment, in his head, was stretching on way longer than it probably was. His other arm started falling back to his side, and he meant to do something else with it quickly, before she could recover, but the hand on his shoulder cut that thought right out before he could do a thing with it. It felt really stupid, staring right at the queen's face, knowing instinctively he should at least try to get out of there. No dice, though. It was too late.
Where Regina's head impacted with his, a headache immediately split through his skull, shooting around to the back of his neck and making everything feel painfully tingly for a moment. It hurt pretty bad, but Aprife had to be a little lucky, at least. Her horns stuck out to the sides like his, he didn't have to deal with that, if nothing else. Cursing, he yanked his hand away from hers as hard as he could, taking a short little swat at it as he went, though it missed quite horrendously. He needed a chance to gather himself after that, now he could barely think. Even if it was just a second, that was better than nothing.
Taking a few small steps backwards, he grit his teeth and stared once more, as focused as he could, at the queen. His muscles were tense with each new step back he took, trying to create distance, but expecting her to come at him at any time. He only hoped if she did, he could avoid it.

Fashionably late as per usual, Ophion took a seat in the stands off to the side of the match. The indigo blood took care not to be near any of the more rancorous trolls, or any trolls at all for that matter. Seeing the queen in a heated battle with a lowblood was certainly the last thing he had expected to behold when he had entered the arena and socializing would only deter him from his newfound purpose: watching for bloodshed. Not from the yellowblood of course, no, he had plenty of that hue (though he would enjoy watching it spilled nonetheless). But the queen's blood...now that was what he was interested in, obsessed with even. Pulling out a pair of opera glasses he watched the proceedings with mounting excitement, his breath hitching with each blow Aprife landed and sighing when the skin on his opponent remained clean. There was a twinge of disgust at himself that rose from the pit of his stomach when he realized he was rooting for a yellow blooded troll; but then he reminded himself how, sometimes, sacrifices had to be made for the greater picture. If his doctrine needed to be adjusted, than so be it. After all, any moral or ethical code was inherently non-existant, even his own, all of them simply abstractly contrived for the sake of those who wished it to be true. It was the reason he wished to topple the hierarchy as it stood, the reason he found the sea dwellers and their automatic royalty status so detestable, and the reason this subjugglator sat on the edge of his seat screaming silent, mental cheers at a low blooded troll attacking his queen. "Just one good hit," he whispered, "just enough to spill some on the ground, just enough for me to gather for one test..."

As Aprife stumbled back, Regina smirked. It had been textbook. She leaned back, avoiding his disoriented swing, and spitting on the ground, her saliva tinted with the royal colour of her blood. No doubt about it, her gums were bleeding from that punch. And maybe she had overreacted a little. But whatever, right? Even if this wasn't the clash of titans the queen had painted in her head, it was still a chance to show off, and have some fun!
Shaking her head once to clear the buzzing from inside her skull, the queen bounded forward, moving more like an playful young woofbeast than a dignified monarch. Eyes flashing mischievously, mouth split wide into an exited grin, she let off a volley of punches, with one or two managing to strike home on the stunned yellowblood.

Eyes snapped wide as the queen came at him, sooner than he had been hoping, and though he willed his legs to move, he felt almost rooted in place. It took a bit of effort, but he was able to duck awkwardly away from a few of the swings, eventually stumbling some before he balanced himself again. The movements had made him feel dizzy once more, though, and he blinked furiously, trying to wake himself up. Only it assured that the next two punches Regina threw landed squarely, instead, one against his arm and another at his stomach. Hissing, he nearly doubled over, turning sideways to try and shield his gut from any more abuse. In that instant, though, he felt the strong urge to return the favor.
Curling another fist, Aprife swung low, towards the queen's abdomen. It had a decent amount of force behind it, led by anger and leverage. Sure, he had come close to losing before, but never had he so uselessly delivered minimal damage while still taking quite a bit. The yellowblood never expected to feel any sort of rage because of it and yet, here he was, seething and gritting his teeth as he tried to enact whatever revenge he could before it was too late.

"Wooah!"
Jumping back, Regina felt the rush of air as the yellowblood's fist swung through the space that until very recently, had been filled with her. It was always a guess at best to judge her sincerity, but the impressed face along with the eyebrow wiggle were ... perhaps a little mocking. The way she clipped him with a light and careless kick certainly was. While she was having fun, the least she could do was piss this kid off so much that he saw double. And maybe have a grudge rematch some day. Now that would be something to look forward to! Smirking at the frustration written across the other trolls face, she dropped her hands from their defensive pose and made the universal, 'come at me bro' hand gesture.
"Anther one of those, and this time c'mon and give it to me. I'm sure you can, hehe!"

Frossa genuinely seemed surprised by Pyre's answer. She thought the girl to be much older; but perhaps it was simply due to their impressive difference in height. She shrugged, taking a large chomp out of the dried meat in her hand. "Oh, I didn't realize you were so young!" Frossa grinned, giving Pyre a once over with her sunken in eyes. "I suppose it's due to your..." She trailed off, grasping at civilities to hide the not so nice meaning behind her words. "Your robust charm, yes?" The highblood grinned and batted her eyelashes sweetly before returning to the food in her hands. She didn't comment on Pyre's clothing further; her sense of fashion wasn't much better than your average troll's. She could, however, plainly see that most trolls dressed like they did so in the dark- which they technically did, she supposed, but that's what stylists were for! Finishing off her meat and giving her grey fingers a few licks, Frossa returned her attention to Pyre as she spoke up again. The greenblood's expression remained as stoic as ever, and she seemed deadly serious as she confronted the smaller highblood. The corners of Frossa's lips twitched, but otherwise a smile remained painted on her face, cheek to cheek. "My deal?" Frossa echoed, lifting a finger to her chin as she thought to herself. She supposed she got into small, insignificant scuffles with lowbloods who didn't know their place all the time. It sort of just came with the territory of being a bratty highblood. She couldn't possibly be expected to remember them all! In all honesty Frossa wasn't sure how to react when Pyre was summoned by the Queen and the beetles had been shoved into her hands- certainly in any other situation she would have acted differently. Right...? She scoffed when Pyre accused her of either being a liar, or insane. "Why can't I be both?" She let out another laugh; this time louder and more drawn out as she giggled at her own joke. Except it was actually sort of really true?

When all he caught was air, his stomach did quite a few uncomfortable flips. He was sure that it was over, right then, right there. Her foot came flying at him and he thought he'd wake up in a pool of blood with another battered nose. He was recoiling, only to find that her kick barely brushed him, barely hurt, and he was still standing. Maybe it was a good thing his hand never dropped out of that fist, because as soon as she started to egg him on, he was more than ready to try again. Aprife was always ready to give. If there was something to gain in return, that is. Even if she was mocking, she wanted him to try, and he wanted to hit her. Quite a bit. It was a win-win.
"Fine!" he spat, pulling his arm back as he closed the short distance between them again. This swing had to hit. He threw his fist forward with that in mind.

It really had been stupid to lower her guard, but the queen had a regrettable bad habit of showboating when she should be focused on the task at hand. Or in this case, the troll in front of her who stepped forward quickly and rammed his fist into her stomach. Not so much jumping elegantly as pulling herself quickly out of the range of another blow, she fought back the urge to caress her bruised abdomen and eyed Aprife warily.
Was he playing the long game? Had he been waiting for her to drop her guard, pretending to be just another troll off the street who got lucky? Or had he just gotten in a lucky shot? The fact that perhaps she was not as much of an untouchable fighting goddess as she considered herself to be was not an option. Either way, Regina spat on the ground again, raised her fists, and bounded forward again, though this time with a bit of caution.
"So you can swing a punch after all! But you're not looking too hot there pal, starting to get tired?"
Dancing back and forth, thought with less energy than before, the queen moved in as though about to give the yellowblood a sharp kick, she instead went for a submission hold, attempting to pin Aprife to the ground with an arm held behind his back.

Landing that hit felt amazing. It was almost energizing, and heck, it didn't even matter that it had been his best shot of the night. He was too busy feeling like a rockstar to care much about the sorry state of affairs he was in compared to the queen. Sadly for him, any thoughts she had that gave him credit were likely wrong. It probably had been little more than luck. And he was feeling stupidly overconfident because of it.
"I'm doing just fine," he assured, prematurely. As she danced, he fell quickly for her feint. I can dodge this, he told himself, and he looked almost light on his feet as he prepared to sidestep right out of the way. When it wasn't a kick that came swinging at him, his mind barely had enough time to catch up and realize the mistake before her hold had him splayed out on the ground. On the way down, he'd bitten his tongue pretty bad, and yellow trickled past his lips as he sputtered, unable to form coherent words.
That was it. Regina was simply too much for him, stronger, better trained. He was able to get a few short wiggles in, but it only made his shoulder burn with the way she had it pinned. All he could do now was cough, and it sounded pretty rough.
