Yasumeh had been walking through the blasted wasteland of Heuco Mundo for some time and could sense the presence of several powerful Arrancar as well as the missing shinigami just over the rise of the next dune. He sighed and took it upon himself to lay down on his back for a moment, uncorking one of the small gourds by his side and letting the foul liquid pour down his throat, perhaps the last indulgence he could take before meeting his end. There where a lot of them, certainly more than he could handle on his own, but there was little other option. He hoped by now that the messages had gotten to someone and that the reinforcements where arriving this very moment but so far was far from impressed with the expediency of the other Captains who seemed either ignorant of their fellows situation which seemed unlikely given the hell butterfly, or merely as evil if not more so as what they tried to make out the hollow they fought against to be. He merely hoped that his annoyances where misplaced, that others had received the call, had given half a s**t enough of the life of their fellow shinigami to do something other than lay about and where currently hiding their signature to approach undetected. He placed no faith in it however, knowing that believing the best situation to be occurring was the surest way to be disappointed... instead he prepared himself for the worst. A situation where no one was coming and he alone would have to create enough of a distraction to allow the captee's to scatter and at least buy some time... for what he knew not but even if it was merely slightly longer to live it would be better than leaving them here.

"One more drink" he thought to himself taking another swig. He couldn't just sit by and let these recruits die, something that he was certain if they remained idle and left alone would happen eventually if not far worse. The sudden burst of energy from a bala being fired let out enough of a notice to tell him now or never. Standing he worked his way up over the ridge and spotted the figures just a short distance away, far enough that he could not make out their words, but not so far as to remain perfectly hidden from the more sensitive of foes.

His fixed his straw hat upon his head and began to make his way down the dune in an extremely clumsy manner. He looked to be tripping over his feet and took a slight tumble rolling part way down the dune kicking up bits of sand whilst letting out a string of slurred curses upon standing back up and dusting himself off. Even while merely standing he appeared to have little to no balance, his body swaying back and forth trying to compensate for some swaying movement that only he appeared to be experiencing.

[We are excellent at this.

Also, vaguely @Torrik -- despite the fact that Danny is a generally masculine name, it's a nickname in this case, and my character's a girl 3nodding ]

Suffice to say, Danny did not like the most recent turn of events. This entire situation seemed to be going from bad to worse, and, try as she might, she couldn't really see a way out of it. Open defiance earned the shinigami nothing but punishment, but complying with the arrancar's wishes didn't sit well with her, either. She tried to understand Haru's mild-mannered acquiescence to Kura's beckoning him over, but she couldn't ignore a small, ugly thread of betrayal from twisting in her chest. Whatever the outcome, their small, woefully outmatched team had to stick together and present with a united front.

But she wasn't close enough to Kura and Haru to hear their exchange. She burned with curiosity, but she had to believe that, whatever Haru had said or chose, it would be in the best interests of their entire team, not just a bid to save his own skin.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Natsuki abruptly vanish. The deft use of such a complicated kido was impressive, and she hoped that she might be able to escape. Even if only one of them survived this, at least they might be able to carry new to Soul Society of the renewed arrancar threat.

Her hopes were dashed in an instant as a new arrancar, one she had not noticed before, appeared in a trice and dashed sand into the air. The granules of sand settled over Natsuki's head and shoulders, tracing the outline of her form and giving away her position. The new arrancar's body seemed tightly wound, as if he was just barely restraining himself from attacking. Danny's hand went to the hilt of her tanto dagger, ready to leap to Natsuki's defense should the arrancar actually strike.

Maybe she need not have worried. Another shinigami of their group took it upon himself to talk Natsuki down, whispering furiously at her. Danny caught the words "shut up" and "stupidity," and she could guess at the rest. So much for projecting a united front.

Whatever Natsuki decided, Danny did not relax. The newly-arrived arrancar looked utterly indifferent, and that scared her more than either Satsu's deceptively boyish nature or Kura's cold, proud disdain.

((Vaguely back @ Saicere- I’ll roll with it anyway ninja ))

Not a single grain of sand remained under his black claws. Impassively, Torrik lowered his arm and gazed at the shinigami who had grabbed the invisible girl. At first, Torrik was disappointed that he wasn’t able to observe how she was able to make herself vanish like that. The boy called Angel had flashed the arrancar a smile. Finding it to be an odd sort of gesture to receive, Torrik greeted the boy’s smile with a sharpened glare. Not a fan of those who ran their mouths, Torrik didn’t like the way the guy’s words came off to his comrade. Unsure if it was her height or her young appearance, the arrancar was unable to see anything done wrong on the girl’s part except that her disappearing act actually made him a bit nervous. Torrik then shrugged as if to say “I was only having a bit of fun…” In doing so, he drained himself of all the thoughts about what had just transpired. It didn’t take him long to get over something. Not when there were so many distractions around him.

Now out in the open for all eyes to observe, Torrik took the opportunity to observe back: up close and personal if need be. There were so many faces illuminated by the dancing flames that began to turn his way. He didn’t really enjoy all the attention nor was it his initial plan to obtain it. Thanks to his curious nature, he had gotten himself into trouble yet again. All the while, the scent of shinigami made his stomach hurt a little. Oh how he longed for a fish right about now.

It wasn’t until Torrik’s eyes met with Danny’s that he paused to stare back. An eyebrow raised. For the first moment he saw the girl, he assumed that she was a man with wild, yet pretty hair. The mop on her head reminded him of those days back on earth when he’d go to sleep with a wet head after getting caught in the rain only to wake up with it in tangles around his neck; seemingly attempting to choke him to death and escape from his scalp. He continued to stare until he lazily raised his right hand in the form of a “Yo” greeting. It was certainly true that he didn’t have much of a beef with Shinigamis other than the fact that he didn’t trust them. They did try to kill him a couple times after all. Then again, those were the same ones each time. Perhaps the rest of them just had the same bad taste in clothing. Too much black was so tacky.

A stealthy hand gave a hard slap to the face of Angel who grabbed her sand riddled invisible shoulder. She hoped it stung to. as the bakudo faded away finding no need for such a ruse anymore not with such a keen eyed arrancar hanging in the ranks. "Quick eyes..." she said nodding to the arrancar who had debunked her 'teleportation' act. her gaze became sharp as her eyes went to angel. "Don't touch me or talk down to me ever again you'll regret it dearly." she explained a clear tint of agitation oozing across her voice. "Did it ever occur to you that sitting by idley with thumbs in unmentionable places would do absolutely nothing in this situation, there is at least one who takes entertainment in our 'magic' tricks, wouldn't it be smart to appease more then one? The last I checked there was hardly any government to hollow and arrancar before and after Aizen, nay there was hardly a government then as well." She explained harshly her steely gaze not breaking from Angel's face. "If we are going to die then death will come, if it doesn't then it doesn't, tucking tail or not isn't going to change the end result it only affects how you fall." she finished with a huff before plopping down into the sand again no longer in the interest of trying to gauge the enemy. She did note the bit of unrest caused between the child and the armored women of the arrancar. a bala was certainly a weapon but in this backwards world it could just as well be a kiss or a slap on the hand. there was to much energy here to actually gauge any one individual nor would she have been able to pick out the energy of the captain who chose to make a stumbling entrance.

Angel's head sharply turned as he was smacked by Natsuki. It hurt, but not to badly. He rubbed the spot where he was hit as he listened to the girl explain what she thought of the situation. Regret. He smirked at this and was tempted to say something back to her, but kept quiet as one of the Arrancar shot a Bala. This made him stare at the boy with both amusement and curiosity. Why did he fire it? Because he was annoyed by what Kura was doing. He let out a sigh as he rubbed his cheek, "Honestly. One crazy thing after another.

Kura felt the charging of energy slightly before she heard the bala begin to charge in Satsu's hand. It wasn't too powerful but it was threatening and the explosion that could potentially result from it was slightly dangerous. In this regard Kura felt she had to do something. Risking any of these hollows here or the Shinigami wasn't something Kura was really willing to go along with. Unlike Satsu who even though he called the shinigami his own property entirely did not care for them. He only cared because he'd perceived her as rude? It was probably because she'd decided to choke the one in the hairband half to death. She couldn't find herself blaming Satsu for being slightly annoyed but that didn't mean she was going to allow his dangerous behaviour.

"Sorry, Satsu." Kura said. Both excusing herself for denying him his fun and his tantrum. She moved her hand in an incredibly quick motion that would have been difficult to follow for the recruits here. Very briefly grasping the bala, wrapping her hands around the teal ball of energy and then redirecting its course into the air. Of course she had used more reiatsu than the attack had taken to redirect it into the sky by allowing her arm, hand and most of all fingers to move extremely fast but it was worth it. The attack was not especially powerful anyway so it wasn't going to wear her out. The bala was now directed at a seventy degree angle and she could safely continue her conversations without fear of a shinigami or hollow brother or sister being hit.

Kura was. To be quite frank. Not too concerned that someone had stuck their tongue out at her. She was in fact more concerned that an old, extremely brief, acquaintance had suddenly appeared and chucked a load of sand on an invisible shinigami. Well. It wasn't that concerning that the shinigami had turned herself invisible. She had seemingly forgotten she was standing on sand and that hollows came in many shapes and sizes. Getting used to the terrain and some of the advantages and disadvantages of it was what separated the surviving hollows from the dead. Kura gave a quick glance at Torrik when he arrived and threw a load of sand around only to state. 'Where did you run off to?' It was just a small thing she was curious about. Nothing pressing. She could wait until the end of time if need be.

Kura decided now to focus her attentions on Angel. His behaviour had been unusual. Smiling at enemies. Bowing to them. Sowing the seeds of dissent among his comrades. She would need to have a brief word with him about how he had been presenting himself. Perhaps he would be the easiest pray given how willing he was to please his captors. Yes. Kura had chosen her first target. However this time she was going to make certain that Satsu found no reason to get enraged. "Satsu. I would like to borrow your toy for a moment. The one who just got slapped round the face. Any objections?" She pointed her index finger on her right hand to the man who called himself Angel.

”Hey! No fighting!” Satsu scolded his Shinigamis, specifically Hairband-chan and Maka-san, the scythe-user. Really now, they were like a group of easily excited puppies. Well, Satsu did like puppies though. Still, he wasn’t going to tolerate any fighting! No siree, not him! Satsu was a good kid and a good owner too. There was no doubt to that. Being the resh-pons-ible person he was. Even Kura apologize to him and Satsu began to preen a bit-

Kura had redirected his bala! How dare she! Still feeling rather belligerent and annoyed at the challenge to his absolute power, he watched his bala streak over his head. Building up pressure beneath his feet, Satsu took two running steps forward, appeared to trip backwards as if on a banana peel and vanished with a Ssszzt! In an instant, he came out of his Sonido under the bala and turned his perceived trip into a bicycle kick. At the instant he connected, he channeled more energy into the bala and planned on blasting it back like a soccer ball. Until he swiftly noticed someone else who appeared to be hiding below a ridge. Satsu couldn’t really make it out clearly, but it looked like a Shinigami judging by the robe. Had he found another Shinigami who landed somewhere else from the Garganta-

Oops. Satsu’s attention at been directed at the Shinigami behind the ridge spying on them long enough that the direction of his bala was fired off in its direction. Ahhhh! Oh well… He thought to himself as he landed back down on the ground after his bicycle kick. At least he got the last…. Word? Hit? …. Something in on Kura. Landing though, Satsu built up his pesquisa to detect the surrounding areas. A light, see through pillar of teal energy surrounded him and pulsed out, scanning. And Kura-senpai-kun-tan even learned some manners! Satsu was proud of her and decided he could add another honorary back to her title. And to let her in on the secret he just discovered.

”Of course, Kura-chan-senpai-kun-tan! You can borrow Maka-san but be sure to return him safely!” Satsu nodded cheerfully then he padded over to her side, created a platform in the air to reach her ear, and whispered. ”Oh Kura-chan-senpai-kun-tan, I found another Shinigami behind that ridge! I have enough though so I'll let you have it.” Conveniently leaving out the fact he had redirected the bala at it.

As Yasumeh made his way down the ridge he was slightly surprised to see little notice of him. He found that the bala shot was deflected and likely the reason his own presence had gone unnoticed for the time being. Within the group he began to make out a few faces, most he had never met but was able to recognize at least some of them from census reports. Still the lack of information made him make a mental note to try and learn a bit more about each in the future... that was of course if they survived long enough to have one. His observation was cut short as the trajectory of the bala suddenly changed from being directed upwards to coming directly at him. Luckily the constant bouncing of the thing had made it loose at least partial mass and thus likely some of it's impact power, none the less he certainly didn't want to be in it's way by the time it collided on his position. Yasumeh turned around on one foot, appearing to be confused of the direction he wanted to go, then suddenly sprang backwards landing on his upper back and allowing his momentum, the grade of the dune, and the blast of the bala colliding with the sand to send him partially sliding and partially rolling into the midst of the gathering, leaving his head partially buried and a sandy trail from where his body had ran it's course behind him or rather in front of him as he found himself on his back.

He stood with a groan, grateful the shot was sloppy and likely not intended to be targeted at him initially. He cracked his back and upturned his straw hat, letting sand drizzle out of it as his eyes appeared to be having a difficult time adjusting to the light of the campfire. Once free of sand he patted about his robes, seeming to be ignorant of the presence of the gathered individuals, before stopping in recognition of his gourd on the ground beside him buried partially in the sand. "Ah" he said retrieving it and uncorking it once more. As he began to bring it to his lips though his eyes turned to the Arrancar, then his head spun to the shinigami, "Oh? Oh yes, um, I have an objection to that. I think..." he began to say pausing as he raised on hand and counted most of the shinigami fairly badly, holding his fingers up as he did so, "Yes I'm pretty sure some... or at least one of those is mine"

This was a complete and utter fiasco. All Kodate wanted was to get out of here. Maybe take a week off and gather his senses. Figure out exactly what it was he wanted from this shinigami business. Being caught with his pants down like this certainly wasn't something he enjoyed. Hell, he doubted anyone assembled enjoyed it. But it seemed that many of them enjoyed antagonizing their captors, something that Kodate wanted to fix. If braining them with his shield would mean them living another day, then Kodate would without hesitation. Every time that stupid girl with the big mouth spoke up, he could practically feel the air tighten around his throat from the tension. Another misspoken word like that and he doubted the girl would live much longer. And then she had to go and pull that disappearing act. My lord, this was annoying. He visibly gave up, plopping himself rather harshly into the sand, letting the warmth of the fire wash over his body. It felt very good, and he couldn't deny himself enjoying anything any longer. If they were going to be eaten, screw it. At least he was going to be comfortable.

Kodate's ear perked, however, over the crackle of flames and people talking and hollows just...existing. A new voice. He couldn't see anything over the horde of hollows, but he got the distinct impression that it was a shinigami. Something in the way the man talked, and the way the hollows around him acted. Oh crap. This is either our salvation or our damnation...crap crap crap. Kodate got up on one knee, and continued to look around. He saw the top of a straw hat. He rolled his eyes. Definitely a shinigami. He doubted a hollow would be caught dead wearing one of those stupid things.

Man. Please let this be the moment we get out safely.

When the female arrancar asked about where he had gone, Torrik was more than willing to answer the question at this point. Ignoring the other occurrences that was going around him, Torrik glanced back at the dune in which he had emerged from. His hiding place, which wasn’t entirely compromised, was still left unprotected regardless. It wasn’t the area he was worried about leaving: it was the person there. Now that he was out in the open, he was unable to protect the precious parcel he had obtained from the ruins of Las Noches.

Raising his arm, he signaled to Accapello, who was still in hiding but most likely within visual contact. Using a single index finger, he gave her the “come over here” gesture.

((From here on out, Torrik will be puppeted by Accapello for about a week. Sorry for my haste exit… I have stuff to do. -_-))

The afternoon had been waning on into evening when the tiny butterfly had flapped into the office. News had been coming in left and right from different sectors of the Soul Society reporting strange activities, as well as fluctuations of reiatsu. “Missing patrols…” the lieutenant sat back with an awe-struck look on his face as the pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place. ‘Kidnapped Shinigami. Follow my reiatsu trail into Hueco Mundo. That’s an order.’

The use of Shunpo made the trek to the twelfth division much quicker than expected. A few minutes later, and a couple well placed threats left the lieutenant of the first division with a garganta with localized on the largest gathering of ambient reiatsu in Hueco Mundo. “Try to keep it open. I’m expecting backup soon. If you get readings of hollow activity close to the opening though, and I’m not there, close it and call in as many reinforcements as you can under direct order of the first squad vice captain!”

~~

The garganta had opened about three miles from the large gathering of hollow, remarkably close for how random the otherworldly portals tended to be. ‘I’ll have to pass along the message that they’re getting the process more refined..’ The thought was dismissed almost as quickly as it had come on, a charge of bala having caught his attention. “Looks like the parties starting without me…” Using Shunpo once more Lerato closed the gap between the gathering and himself in a matter of a few steps, sand flying in waves on either side of him. As far as he could tell there were only a handful of shinigami here, most of which could barely be described as self sufficient in terms of fighting ability. The only one that seemed to stick out was a lone captain level shinigami, and even that appeared fresh from the gate. “That could only mean…” There were a few newly appointed captains among the ranks of the Gotei, but he had made sure to get well acquainted with most of them. All but one, in fact. The same that he had interviewed perhaps a few weeks prior. “He couldn’t be stupid enough to come all the way here alone, could he?”

Stepping from the Shunpo was an easy matter, though it wouldn’t seem like it as he slid to a halt at the top of a sand dune. What he saw before him made his jaw drop. A collection of hollow ranging from a simple mindless beasts to a few arrancar that had to force themselves to keep an overflow of energy in check. “Impossible… They should have all been scattered after the fall of Los Noches.” The idea that the hollow were gathering in such force again could only mean one thing; there was soon to be trouble.

Angel looked over at Kura when she suddenly wanted to talk to someone....and he found it was him. He pointed to himself not so sure she wanted him, but sighed as he looked over at Satsu hearing his nickname. Maka-san. Wonderful. He let out another annoyed sigh, "Here I am trying to be quiet, keep people calm, and try and figure a way out of here. So far that has earned me a slap to the face." He mumbled to himself as he walked over to Kura and Haru. He bowed his head as he sat on the other side of her. His attention soon turned to a man that had seemed to come closer to the group. Angel couldn't help, but stare at the man with disbelief and growled before he covered his face with one of his hands, "The fool is drunk." He whispered to himself as he noticed how the man acted. This was who was gonna save them? Could he even fight? So many questions were running through his head at that moment.

"Now then, should we really be fighting already?" Came the regal voice of the final arrancar king, Senrai Kazume. As he entered the area of the meeting via garganta it was obvious that he had intended to show up in style, he stood atop a black Rolls Royce, his raven wing black hair was pulled back with a small bit of leather, and a simple, yet elegant silver circlet inlayed with a unique purple gem adorned his brow. His dark red cloak fluttered in the wind created by the speed at which the vehicle was travelling and his right hand rested on the hilt of his zanpakuto which was sheathed at his side. Suddenly his vehicle jolted suddenly and he realized with a start that the car had hit a shinigami head on, this didn't really bother him much though considering that had the shinigami been weak enough for such a thing to do serious damage to it he would have felt a drop in the reiatsu. This not being the case he tapped the roof of the vehicle in order to let Seiko know to stop, also taking this chance to glance back at the still prone form of Lerato, giving a small smirk he shook his head. It was hardly likely that his brother had accidentally hit one of the only shinigami in the area that wouldn't have died from an enhanced vehicle's strike. Not to mention that looking back at the tracks in the sand it was obvious that the Quincy had swerved the car to strike the shinigami from the back.

He had already noted the presence of the Captain but had already decided to leave him to the tender ministrations of Satsu. Turning his attention to Kura briefly he smiled, she was obviously plotting something rather spectacular, "Best not bother her right now" He mused to himself, "Wouldn't want to interrupt those ideas." Looking to Seiko, still seated in the drivers seat and the incoherent form of the newly forming arrancar he had been in the World of the Living for he motioned for the Quincy to exit the car before preforming a quick sonido to grab the dazed Lerato and toss him into the area with the rest of the captured shinigami. "Anyway, I do apologize for my tardiness, I was taking care of some rather important business, and things sort of ran over what I expected them to time wise." He said in a mildly apologetic manner.

Chaos was beginning to unfold with the appearance of another King and yet another Shinigami. This was starting to get worrying. In a situation like this Kura couldn't ensure she would be able to keep her reiatsu under check and prevent it from interacting with the hostages or her allies. The presence of a Shinigami meant another thing. The Sereitei had already realised who the perpetrators of the act were and had responded. They were fast but that meant another thing. Their attack was sure to be rushed. The sight of only a single other Shinigami getting his body wound over a strange piece of machinery that the man atop it had presumably stolen only evidenced so further. This was not impossible to turn into an advantageous situation. The sentimentality and human aspects of Shinigami were sure to come back to haunt them. She had to wait a while before talking to Angel or Haru again. If the hostages were taken then it didn't matter how much she talked to the pair.

Kura had been briefly distracted having one eye on the Shinigami who had challenged her and Satsu and another on the King atop his human machine but now she focused both eyes on the Shinigami Captain, Yasumeh. She got to her feet and took her shield and halberd. Anyone who could get across Hueco Mundo on their own or could even break into such a place was sure to either have authority or special, potentially very dangerous, powers. No mercy could be spared when fighting with them. Kura had already formulated a plan that would deter her opponent from battle however.

"Do you plan to fight me?" Kura asked him. A genuine statement. She and surely he both knew that this situation would be better solved without the need for violence. Especially with recruits and lesser hollow around. "If you plan to fight me I will release my weapon immediately and eradicate everything that can't withstand my reiatsu." This wasn't so much of a threat as a promise. If Yasumeh was even remotely capable of sensing reiatsu he would know the fate that was sure to befall the hollow's hostages if Kura released her Zanpakto. She was also sure that he wouldn't be able to rescue all six hostages before her reiatsu swept over them all.

"Keep your sword sheathed. As long as you're willing to co-operate so am I." Kura said. Her feet were positioned so that she could immediately leap into combat but also so that she could block any incoming attack. Kura's only worry was that he was too drunk to realise what he was doing. If using hostages against him didn't work then she could only hope she could put him down.
