NO CHRISTMASTIVAL TREE?! What were these people thinking? You couldn't have good Christmastival cheer without a tree. This was just sad. A tragedy. Why would they do this to her? Whyyyyy?
Danny threw her feet on Roch's lap. "Next year I'll get you a tree." she mused, shooting a look at Austin. Well she could probably go outside and burn a tree down for them but ... well somehow she didn't think it worked that way.
Maybe next year she'd get him a piano.

"I ain't a footrest, Danny," Roch said, shoving her feet off of his lap. Just then Vegas came in with a bag of stuff, which he dropped down beside the table and started digging through, tossing to each of them, even a few to Danny. Where he got gifts for Danny, Roch had no freakin' clue. Probably that weird closet of his.
"Don't want it," Austin said as the small pile of presents in front of him went untouched.
"But--but--I picked them for you, specifically," Monica said, sounding like her heart was breaking. Austin groaned and grabbed one reluctantly, unwrapping it.
Roch was opening his as well, but he hadn't actually handed Danny her's yet. Whoops.

Meanwhile, Danny watches with baited breath. She actually liked givin gifts a lot more than recieving them; years of Oersted's extras had simply made her wary to the whole ordeal.
Of course, Roch's present wasn't exactly a flatscreen skelevision. There were two boxes; one which he should've known just by the wrapping and the ouer that was just a tad thought out.
The first one had a rabo, but not just any rabo. It was a special one that she had spent hours diving through boxes to find. Needless to say there was a lot of effort behind that one, but knowing Roch he probably wouldn't notice.
The second however was a bit more unique for Roch. It had a pile of picks and a giftcard to that one store Roch always liked to buy his clothes in. The one with the skeleton tuy at the counter? Nevermind.
That wasn't the big showstopper though. Inside he'd find sheet music that she'd written all by herself. It was undoubtedly horribly done and terribly off tempo, but she'd done it all by herself. No help. It had taken nearly two months, and a lot of hours in the music room. At the top of the page it just said SONG FOR ROCH in her all caps scrawl; no metaphorical title sorry. Her thoughts don't go that deep.
While They open their presents, Danny just sat with a sheepish smile on her face. Would Roch like it?

Roch hesitated when he got to Danny's presents, having a good idea what was in the first. When he opened it, he frowned a tiny bit. "Hey... Danny?" he said finally. "Isn't this the one that you said was super jackin' expensive?"
He didn't want an expensive pet! He already had Cliff, who was way more expensive than he wanted, and this one, it seemed even moreso. "But--y'know, Jackdammit is kind of a d**k, and--"
How the hell did you put "My cat chased the first one you gave me up a tree, where it cried for jackin' HOURS before I managed to get it down, and now it hides whenever JD even steps into the room?"

Expensive? She didn't pay for them so ...
"Nope, its free! You're not paying me after all," she nodded, thinking that sufficed for an explanation. Danny's face fell when she saw Roch's frown creep across his face. Oh no, he didn't like it, did he? Did he maybe want something expensive? Or ...
Danny stuttered, "I-I mean it took a while to find, but if you don't like I can just put it back in my closet, Its no big deal and-"

"Take the jackdamn pet and thank her nicely," Austin whispered in Roch's ear. "Or she's going to panic." "I get that already, jack," Roch muttered. "No, it's fine!" he said quickly, giving her a grin. "I mean, they're really cool," he added, undoing the ribbon of the box and letting the little Rabo free. "Oh it's ADORABLE!" Monica said, looking enthusiastic. "What's its name?"

Danny visibly relaxed when he said he approved, and even more so when Monica called it adorable. She was still frowning slightly, not sure if he was lying to her, but Roch wasn't the type to lie to her- about this anyways.
To Monica, she simply stared blankly and said, "I dunno. Who's next?"

Austin was fingering a black pinstripe dress shirt with a curious expression on his face. He looked a bit torn, but he folded it and put it to the side. "You've got some things, screech. Go ahead and open them."
"Oh, and this, too," Roch said, handing over the gift.

Danny looked around for a moment. "Who's screech?" After an awkward moment of no one responding, she figured it out. "Oh!"
She decided to open Austin's present first. Was Roch being replaced by his dad and grandpa? Maybe.
Inside she found a set of orange and blank gloves and scarves. Her fiery head tilted. She wore armwarmers to help channel her FEAR better, but she'd never thought about gloves before. Something about it just seemed ... well dangerous. The gloves would probably be gone by tomorrow with her fiery tendencies. The scarf ... well her mind instantly went to "too warm," but after thinking about all of the snow from the Christmas attack ...
"Thanks!" she said sincerely. She didn't even think to question why they had a present for her when they'd just met her. "I like that shirt," she said absently, pointing at the one Austin had just recieved. .

"Thanks," Austin said.
Roch was unwrapping the second gift from Danny, which made him grin a lot more than the first one did. He looked at the music for a moment, amusement clear on his face, because, seriously, he could already tell it'd give people a headache. "Thanks, Danny," he said. He had a little pile of clothes to the side as well, mostly thanks to Monica. "Now open your last one," he urged her.

Danny smiled and said, "Uh. I'll play it for you some time, 'cause I don't think I did a very good job ..."
She nodded and smiled, already opening the present, expecting chocolate or video games or-

Her face fell instantly as she stared at the puffball wiggling in her hands. Immediately, she flung the thing on the table, where it ... basically just was adorable. Seriously. It was the epitome of Halloween-cute. "I CAN'T TOUCH IT DON'T LET IT GET NEAR ME," she said, her eyes wide.

Everyone stared at her. Then, quite casually, both Austin and Vegas summoned their weapons. "So... kill it?" Vegas asked simply.
"Nah, if she doesn't want it I'll take it," Roch said, scooping up the adorable thing. "No clue what I'll do with it, though..." He looked at it curiously. "I could probably feed it to my Punkeesh?"

She looked back and forth at Roch. It would really probably be best if Roch took it. All the treat could look forward to with Danny was a life of burnt fur and scruffy patches and oh dear Jack the memories-
Rewind nearly 10 years. Danny, being the small fire demonness she was, was playing with the neighbor's foxfire. Suddenly smoke and Danny screaming. She'd lit it on fire. She still remembered the foxfire barking and all of the hysteria surrounding it. Danny'd banned herself from touching any mini slightly fluffy ever again. Ever. Gamyiel was the only exception because he wouldn't leave her- not the other way around.
"N-No," she said, despite her mind protesting, "I want it." After all, it was her first real Christmastival present from her best friend. No way she was giving that up to anyone. How could she explain it to them? "I just c-can't touch it. I'd kill it," she whined.

They looked at her again, the same blank expression on three faces. "Well, screechheart," Austin said slowly. "Do you kill off all your pets by accident or something? Kind of surprising for you to be passin' out fluffy guys like that when you do..."

Danny wibbled at Austin, but she was a little angry at that assumption. "It's not like I TRY to kill them," she retorted. Her hand slipped across the table to touch the treat on the nose. The treat started to get closer, but Danny flipped her hand and lit a fireball in her hand sending the pile of fluff racing across the table wide eyed. "See?" she sighed.
Oh well. She shot a grumpy look at Austin and said, "Rabos are fireproof, idiot." Did she just call a grown man an idiot? Maybe.
Turning back to Roch, she said, "Thanks for the present though." She held up a hand to try and gather the treat once more, and it ran away this time. Her face curled into a pout. She'd get it eventually. "Uhhh sorry. One of you guys go next," she said sheepishly.
