Mitsu flinched when the carabiner clicked into place. One would have thought it was a gun shot from her reaction. Her body began to tremble even when Shun pulled her close. It was so hard to think about anything other than how high it was going to be.
"B..but I don't even like to do that....I'm only motivated because I know you're at the top." Which was the only reason her feet took her to the fourth floor of the reaper dorms. Otherwise she would surely not make such a parlous journey.
Clinging to Shun's shirt Mitsu tried to look up at top of the cliff. True it wasn't high, around two to three stories but from Mitsu's eyes it might as well have been the tallest building in the world. A shiver ran down her spine, her eyes clenched shut and her knees threatened to buckle.
"S-s-so what do I do?" Somehow she was still going to try. Jack save her.

This was news to him. Shun did not realize that she didn't like to even climb stairs. However, it did get some thoughts moving in his mind. Caressing her face, he kissed her lightly on the lips before trying to step back.
"Actually. I'll go up first. I can still do what I need to do to make sure you don't fall. Watch what I do when I climb, and when it's your turn, just focus on reaching me."
Hopefully this will work.

She tilted her head up as she felt his fingers lightly brush her cheek. As soon as he leaned down and pressed his lips against hers she relaxed a little, leaning into him as she usually did. Her eyes had closed and for a short few seconds everything was okay. Then Shun pulled away and her heart leaped into her throat again.
"Y..you're going up first?"

"I am. Now... watch me carefully."
Nodding to her, Shun moved to the rock face, looking. Taking in a breath, he began to climb. This time around, he did it more slowly so that Mitsu might be able to pick up on where was stepping and where he grabbed. Even then, his pacing was fairly steady. After a little while, he pulled himself over the edge, where he stood at the top of the small cliff face.
"Did you get that?"

"O..okay." Reluctantly Mitsu released Shun and watched as he made his way up the cliff side. She did her best to note his path but her vision began to waver as soon as he climbed over the top.
"Y..yeah," She called somewhat loudly. "I guess..." She mumbled to herself.
With a great amount of hesitation Mitsu made her way to the cliff face holding onto her rope tightly as if testing its durability. She looked up again to see Shun taking a deep breath before she placed her hands on the rock. There she stood still for a few moments trying to motivate herself to go to Shun before she actually started to move. Her foot moved into a groove and she pushed herself up grabbing onto a rock higher up. Oh jack she was off the ground. QAQ

Once at the top, Shun made sure he had some good footing, then grabbed onto the rope so he could hold onto her. Looking down, he could see Mitsu slowly beginning her climb.
"That's it Mitsu. Keep it up. Just focus on me," he said calmly and patiently, "I won't be going anywhere."

No joke, Mitsu thought internally. With her pace he wouldn't be going anywhere for a while unless he decided to abandon her or help speed up the process. Still Mitsu climbed but her speed probably rivaled that of a certain Sloth demon. She would reach, grab hold, move up and pause, try to re-motivate herself, and then try it all again.
The lycan was making progress though so that was something, her eyes shifting up every once in a while to see Shun above her as she climbed. It seemed to keep her motivated enough because she was already half way. That was when she made the biggest mistake. The rock she had placed her foot on wasn't as steady as it at first seemed. As soon as she put her weight on it, as slight as she might have been, it still gave way. Her fingers slipped from their hold and she was left flailing trying to grab hold of anything, her fingers breaking through rocks as her natural strength started to kick in.
In her mad grab for something to hold on to that was when Mitsu looked down, her vision nearly going dark when she saw how high she was. "AAhhhhhh!" Claws dug in to the point she was causing damage to her hands and her feet seemed to find small crevices where they wedged in tight. Mitsu was effectively stuck to the side of the cliff and wasn't going anywhere. "S...Shun GET ME DOWN!"

When she slipped, Shun let out a grunt and tightened his grip on the rope, making sure she was secure.
"Mitsu! Relax!" he called out before cursing to himself. He could see the rock crack around where she was grabbing, so her strength was coming into play. If she really panicked and tried to pull the rope, she may end up pulling him over the edge. That would not be good.
"You're halfway there. Just look at me. Focus Mitsu. Just focus on me. Relax your body. You're damaging the rock around you. I won't let you fall."

As soon as Shun told her to look up she did, though there were already tears gathering in her eyes, her mouth set in a frown that said she was about to cry. She tried to calm herself, taking in a deep breath. Though that one deep breath ended up being multiple deep breaths as she continued to breath in and out and was no on the verge of hyperventilating.
Taking a second she rested her head against the rock by her, closing her eyes and trying to clear her head. She was safe, Shun had her, she was almost there, she could do this. Then she opened her eyes and realized where she was, fifteen feet or better off the ground with nothing more than a tiny rope to keep her from falling to her doom. No, it wasn't Shun she didn't trust. It was the equipment.
Her eyes turning up to the reaper again after a long moment she tried to move, her left hand finally releasing from the cliff face. As soon as she let go, though, she made a mad grab fro her next hold, her strength still in play as she broke through the rock once again. Letting out another shriek Mitsu lodged her hand back in its previous place, her head shaking wildly. "Get me down! Get me down! I can't do it!" Tears began to streak her face as she held on for dear life. She had no idea how she was going to get down, she was too afraid to move even to do that much.

"Kusoooo...." Shun hissed as he gripped the rope. She was grabbing the rock too tightly.
"Listen to me! You need. To. Relax. You can do this. I know you can do this. Right now you're tapping too much into your strength. If you keep panicking, you're going to break through.."
He trailed off as he saw a glint of light stream down her cheeks. She was crying now, and it was again, his fault. Closing his eyes for the moment, he gritted his teeth. Yeah, he was just a b*****d putting her though torture right about now. At least that was how he felt.
"Just.. do this... please," he said more quietly, sounding almost defeated.

Mitsu didn't understand why it was so important she climb this wall. She had tried, even made it so far, but now she was trying to push beyond her limits. A sort of defensive reaction was starting to well and instead of the tension her muscles usually felt when her strength kicked in she started to feel the tension and heat of an actual shift pending in the future.
"S-S-Shun, I'm scared," Mitsu's voice was a strained whisper, her eyes clenched shut again as she tried to focus on anything but how high she was. That was when she heard it. The storm she had heard not long ago. It was edging closer. There was still time but if she did nothing she was going to be caught in the rain and that no doubt would make climbing difficult.
"S..Shun?" Opening her eyes just slightly Mitsu tried once again to reach up and grip a rock but the damage to her hands was now apparent. Some of the sharper rocks had sliced into her fingers and palm, but it seemed she was able to grab hold and not break anything this time around. She shifted her foot to move only to realize....she was actually stuck. Mitsu had wedged in too tight. "Eh...I'm stuck..." If she used her strength would the same thing happen all over again?

Looking down, Shun could see bits of blood around Mitsu's hands. She had hurt herself during her panic. Gritting his teeth, he looked around to try and see what the problem was. Then he saw her foot stuck in the rock. Cursing under his breath again, he was trying to see what he could do, but caught sight of the ominous clouds in the distance. He'd have to work quickly.
"I'm coming Mitsu," he said quietly before wrapping the rope around a sturdy rock, then lowered himself down. They were essentially supporting eachother now as they were suspended. Climbing down to where the wolf girl was, he let himself hang briefly as he summoned his daggers. One he just stabbed into the wall for the time being since he didn't need both at once.
"Hold onto me, I'm here," he whispered while lightly wrapping one arm around her. With his free hand, he began to carefully chip away at the rock around her foot with his dagger.

Mitsu could feel the rope holding her in place moving about and she wasn't entirely sure what Shun was doing. He said he was coming but would he be able to make it down and still hold the rope like he had been? It seemed like a lot to ask to have him hold her to make sure she wouldn't fall and come rescue her at the same time.
Feeling the rope go completely taught Mitsu managed to look up to see Shun maneuvering his way back down the cliff side. It didn't take him long to reach her and when he was close enough she didn't need to be told twice, she reached out for him clinging desperately as he went to work on the rock holding her foot in place. His presence alone was a comfort and she sought as much contact with him as possible
Every once in a while she would wiggle her foot hoping to help dislodge it once Shun had enough rock chipped away but it took a bit before that was possible. Finally she was able to shift to the side, a sizable rock falling out of place and tumbling to the ground. With that she was able to pull free but she didn't dare let go of Shun. Her hands held onto his shirt with a white knuckled grip that said she wasn't going to budge from his side easily.
"S..Shun, I'm sorry. I'm sorry," She mumbled knowing she had let him down.

"Don't.. apologize. This.. is my fault." he said quietly in return. He felt that he shouldn't have put her up to this in the first place. Shifting a bit as the way she was clinging to him made it a little hard to move, he dismissed his daggers before working on climbing up with the girl in tow.
It was a bit difficult, and his progress was a bit slow as he needed to make sure he had a good hold on everything before moving on. Even so, he was moving relatively steadily.
"Almost there.."

They had started moving and not in the direction Mitsu thought they would. Instead of down, they were going up. She stiffened in her hold on the reaper, clinging like a drop bear as he made his way up. "I..I know you're trying to help, I'm just....I can't do it. I let you down..." It was amazing she had made it as high as she had. Without his encouragement she never would have left the ground.
Despite how she didn't like the idea that they were going up Mitsu tried to help ease Shun's burden and used her legs to help push them along. When they came to the edge she stiffly grabbed for the rope and with Shun's help pulled herself over. Once Shun was safely at the top with her Mitsu scrambled away from the edge remaining on her hands and knees least vertigo take its toll. Oh sweet horizontal ground, how Mitsu had missed you.
