STORMTOP ANGELS
"We have witnessed it all. But we have always been
here to save people. To protect people. And now look what we're doing."
here to save people. To protect people. And now look what we're doing."
"Fantastic!"
Everyone in the room turned to attention at the new voice, and Julius' eyes widened.
"Oh! Lord Blackblade!"
The man was tall and lean, wearing a black suit equipped with hand-carved cane of the finest metal. His white hair curled around his face, and goggles with blackened lenses covered his eyes. For a human, the air around him practically shimmered with power. All the Stormtops in the room were immediately affected by his presence as the metal within them twitched and shifted and tingled, recognizing the creature that had touched it so hallowed. Even Sarah had to quietly swallow and lower her eyes in reference.
Ignoring everyone else, Blackblade strode in between Wren and Julius directly to Blair, his smile warm even though his eyes couldn't be seen. With one of his gloved hands, he reached up and moved a lock of hair from her face.
"You have shown the true power and grace of the Iron Angel today, Blair my child," he told her proudly. "Without you, your sister would've surely experienced death; death fit for a goddess, perhaps, but still. Death." Julius silently shivered at the disappointment in his voice. Blackblade reached down and took Blair's tiny hands in his large ones, the white gloves swallowing her fingers whole. "You are to be bathed and your wings polished until they shine as bright as your spirit. You will be given the proper clothing and when you are prepared we will escort you to the location where you will take your maiden flight. And then, when you return triumphant and with your new name fit for a goddess, you will stand with your sisters tomorrow morning at the Unveiling Ceremony, and you will be worshiped like you deserve to be." Julius had no doubt in his mind as to why Blackblade had managed to sway so many to his cause. His voice reverberated power, almost like he could breathe will to live back into a death body just by his words. "Sarah!" His granddaughter, having stopped paid attention out of boredom a few minutes back, jumped to attention, though the movement was so slight it was barely noticeable.
"Yes?" She asked simply. Blackblade gave her a level stare, unmoving from where he stood in front of Blair, hands now clasped behind his back.
"You and Isis will accompany the Maiden to the location of her voyage," he stated. "If Faith and Lockheed are finished with their training by the time we're ready to fly, then they will accompany you. If not, we will not keep our new goddess waiting. Understood?"
Not even Sarah could look her grandfather in the eye for extended periods of time. She looked away.
"Yes."
Satisfied, Blackblade looked back to Blair, and smiled again, taking her face gently in between his hands.
"Congratulations, my child," he breathed. "For you are the future."
Thus, if Blair had nothing to say in response, Blackblade would turn and swiftly exit the room.
"We're killing them. We're killing everyone. How could this possibly
be right? God, where are you? God, where ARE you?!"
