"Hey!" she cried, taking her chin off of his shoulder. She threw a pouting face at him, but she wasn't really angry, just biding more time.
Eventually she sighed and returned to his shoulder though. "TheoneIlikeisRikki" she whispered, in an almost inaudible voice. "THERE I SAID IT OKAY LET'S MOVE ON," she finished. Why was this so difficult? Danny almost felt sorry for making Roch confess about Xiu to her.

"Wait, what?" Roch asked blankly. "Say that again, cuz I almost think I heard you say Rikki." He looked at her blankly. "But that can't be, cuz Rikki's got a ghoulfriend."

Danny was about to say it again a bit louder when she was interrupted. So Roch did hear her? Or did he not? Either way, Danny wanted to reconfirm. "I s-said I liked Rikki," she repeated. Could he feel how red her face was?
It was an unusual feeling for Danny to tell anyone secrets like this. As far as she was concerned, she was the only person at Amityville that didn't have feelings for someone. Of course, now all of that was changing ... had she been caught up in the hype?
Nonchalantly, Danny added, "No they broke up while I was gone." It was horribly old news for Danny, and she didn't think much about it anymore.

"Which is what, two weeks at most?" Roch said, his eyes narrowing. "Sure quick to recover, ain't he? Already moving in on another ghoul." Ohhh, the punk wasn't happy with this one bit, and it showed on his face.
"You know, I like Rikki, but I'm gonna ask you to think about something before you go jumpin' in. If he was that quick to dump his last ghoulfriend, when they seemed pretty happy the last time I asked, how long is he gonna stick around with his next?"

Danny's face fell when Roch mentioned "another ghoul." Had Rikki already started flirting with someone at Amityville? They (Danny and Rikki) had gotten along so well when they were at her brother's place. What did she do wrong?
She left it to Roch to answer. "O-Oh ... you mean he already has 'another ghoul'? Th-that's nice I guess." It wasn't nice at all! Who was this new ghoul that Roch was talking about? It wasn't Edel right? Well maybe that was jumping to conclusions... but who else would it be?

"I meant YOU, doofus," Roch said, snorting. "Forget it," he said abruptly. "Go for it. If he breaks your heart I'll kick his a**," he told her. "I can't stop me from liking someone, how the hell am I going to stop you?"

Danny took her head off of his shoulder and wrapped her arms around her legs, setting her head on them instead. Rikki ... liked her? No that couldn't be true. He only just broke up with Lilura, like Roch said. Besides, she wasn't pretty or smart like the kind of ghoul Rikki probably wanted.
Yet a little part of her wanted what Roch said to be ... true.
"Roch I feel weird," she stated. She felt odd letting someone else in on her secret, and even odder knowing that he could spill it to anyone. Plus the fact that he was giving her his blessing in his own weird Roch-y way was giving her mixed feelings to. Not to mention the dawning realization that maybe Rikki might like her back and not just be playing with her ...
"Really weird," she said in a lower tone, lost in seldomly had thought. "You don't feel weird too, right?" Roch probably wouldn't even understand what she was talking about. Oh well. Danny was never one to keep what was on her mind hidden, even if it was technically "socially awkward."

"All jackin' confused, wondering if you're thinkin' right or feelin' right, or if, even if you know you're wrong to like them, you can't stop it, and all you can do is go on and try and put it behind you? Nah, I doubt you feel the same sort of weird I do," Roch said, resting his head on his hands and staring up at the sky.
"Danny, I don't wanna like anyone," he said quietly. "Cuz even if I did, who would want a punk hood like me as a boilfriend? All these feelings do is waste time and energy. I wanna get over 'em and get back to doin' whatever the hell I wanna do. You can do whatever you want with your feelings, but me... I jackin' wish they disappeared whenever I dissipate, and stay gone when I come back."

Danny tried to think of the correct words to say, and couldn't. So she said what came to mind. "Well I'm not gonna date you," she gave him a playful shove and continued, "As much as you want me to. But I bet there's bound to be somebody. I mean Jack found Sally." In the old legends, Sally was the faithful one, not Jack, but she let that slide. "Even Moure has stupid Edel," why did that example come to mind so quickly? It just made her more upset. "There's gotta be someone," she repeated.
Then she looked at him more seriously. "And we already talked about this. You can't die anymore. Remember?" Technically they had both broken the rule as it was, but that wasn't the point, "So even feelings and stuff did that, you wouldn't be able to dissipate. So there." Her look was very serious, but her words betrayed how ill-fitting they were.

"Danny..." he snorted, giving up before he even started. "Get up, I'll help you to your room then go get that stuff from Chuppi, alright? Hopefully that'll help you sleep tonight, at least." He gently pushed her off and stood, offering his hand to help her up. "You and me, I like us just the way we are. So we're gonna keep it that way."

Danny nodded in Roch's general direction; the topic was over, that was for sure. She was thankful she got to talk it through (somewhat) with Roch before she announced it to Rikki. Definitely felt a lot better than going in blind.
She grabbed his hand and let out a squeak of pain as she stood up, but it wasn't horrible. Definitely not as bad as it had been two days ago. She was still a bit wobbly on her feet, but overall it wasn't too bad. Seemed as though Roch had the right idea.
For the moment, she leaned on his side and said, "Uh yeah ... just give me a second... Still kinda hurts." It wasn't often that Danny admitted pain to her friend, but since the Rikki thing was already off her chest, she figured what else was there to lose?

"Yeah," he said. "I know." Then he slowly led her back to her room, letting her go on about whatever she wanted to. He actually listened, too... well, for the most part.
It was a good thing there wasn't a test on it afterwards, though.
