Taryn reacted without really seeing Roch's reaction. "Maybe she thought it was something she had done. Maybe she cares too much about you to stop you." Then she saw it. The poor boil as clearly wracked with... what was it? Guilt? Self-loathing? She approached and put a hand on his shoulder, unsure of what to say to comfort him.
Yes, Roch. You were an idiot.

"What the hell was I thinking?" he asked, looking at her. "Threatening to leave--hell, not even threatening, just leaving," he said. "Thinking, maybe, just maybe, she'd call me the next day, tell me I'm an idiot, tell me--and dammit all I even TOLD her that stupid line from the song--"
He sighed, running a hand over his face. "Well," he said simply. "That's over. You know what, I really SUCK at this game," he said, turning to her. "Let's go get somethin' to eat."

Taryn reached up and popped Roch in the cheek. It wasn't a real honest slap, but it was a tap to get him focused or at least pay her some attention. This was the Roch she was used to-- rambling and unreachable.
"Don't you dare!" she piped, actually a bit frustrated, "You call her and apologize! Explain yourself!"

"Tarryyynnn," he whined, rubbing his cheek. "I can't do that, I'm an a**!" he said. "Don't lie--er, never mind, you probably won't even if I tell you to," he muttered. He looked like a guilty child. "She should go off and be happy with her new boilfriend and everyone will be better off. I really SHOULD take some time and get over her. It's the best thing I could do for her!"

Taryn stood up straight, her arms rigid at her sides, really angry for the first time in perhaps her life. A puff of smoke emanated from her mouth as she spoke next.
"You're an a** if you don't call and apologize!" she yelped suddenly pointing an accusing finger at Roch, "You'll hurt her because she's happy? Because you don't have to fight for her? What kind of logic is that! And since when does Xiu have a boilfriend?! Did she say she had a boilfriend?! I will go to her myself and tell her about all of this if you don't call her yourself! Grow a scare." She shocked even herself with that last, obscene line and her eyes went wide a moment before setting again.

He stared at her in shock, taking a step back instinctively. When had his cute little Taryn ever been like this? Jack, she was REALLY pissed, wasn't she? She looked as if she was going to kick his a**, man! "Um... right now?" he asked reluctantly.

A little bit of the same old Taryn emerged for a a fleeting moment, a sweet crinkled face while she thought, and then she reached out and jabbed him in the chest with a finger. It was a noble cause. She would give up her Roch time...
"YES."

"But... don't you think it'd be better if I did it somewhere... private?" he said, looking around the eerily glowing room full of scarelings and adults. They had instinctively moved aside to let others play through, and there were curious eyes everywhere. "C'mon, Taryn, cut me just a LITTLE bit of slack?"

Taryn nodded. She hadn't meant now-now.
"Go to the food court bathroom. Or we can go back to school. Either way, now."

"How about we finish the game first? Or get some food? Or anything? Taryn, I'm beggin' you, I don't wanna do this," he said, getting down on one knee and pleading with his hands clasped. "I'm an a**, we both agree! She'll get over it quick and--"
"This isn't really helping, is it?"

Taryn gave Roch a gentle kick in the shin.
"We're going back. I'll duct tape the phone to your hand if I have to."

"But it ain't fair to you," Roch said. "Cuz here I dragged you out to play and then dragged you into my problems, which ain't right at all, and now we're cutting this short--"

Taryn put her hands on her hips and looked up at Roch, her legs in a wide stance.
"You're trying to procrastinate," she accused, and pointed at Roch with a finger, "Minigolf isn't going anywhere. Xiu? Xiu is a time-sensitive matter."

Roch sighed and headed for the front of the shop to turn in the golf club and the ball. "Fine, I'll call her, I'll apologize, then we'll go get something to eat," he said. "It's not like it's going to take that long, right?"

Roch clearly didn't have enough experience talking to ghouls. Taryn rolled her eyes and followed, apologizing to the clerk out of habit and wrapping her arm around Roch's.
"No~ We're going to go back to school and I'm going to make sure you call Xiu. Then we can talk about dinner." She refused to let this relationship die, and especially to let one of her friends continue hurting the other out of blatant stupidity.
