With Jericho's attention Sammy reached out slowly clawing at the ground trying to drag herself closer to the dragon. They had to get up, they had to be ready to fight again. It was a painfully slow process her fingers stiff and arm unable to flex much at all, each tug painfully short as she tried to worm her wave towards the dragon.
"Gotta...get...up." She grunted before seeming to seize up again coughing.

"That one!" Cymbeline grinned, pointing a delicate finger in West's direction. Couldn't one just imagine, that much rage connecting head on with the master hunter's face? It might even break things! Delightful things, like that foul human's hateful face! It would be GLORIOUS. ALL THE RAGE IN THE WORLD, ALL POINTED INTO ONE DEMON-SHAPED ARROW OF DESTRUCTION~ Cymbeline twirled, almost looking out of place on the battlefield if it weren't for the scales she swung around haphazardly.

Apparently the little shocks and the slightly bigger shock just weren't enough for Savior to figure out that touching the barrier was bad news and she rapped her hand against a few more times, not nearly as hard as she had in the attempt to get out of course. It didn't even really buzz against her skin with each tap, instead the Marrowstripe seemed to be enjoying the static that came off during the impacts.
"Ehehehe." She giggled a bit at the action, watching it rather than remembering just where she was. She didn't feel like her life was in danger just yet since people were still around moving and she wasn't on fire. She was tired, sure, but she was also still very much standing despite having been stunned. "Eehehhehehehe."
Savior turned and looked at the nearest two and poked the barrier, a shock zooming around her finger. She actually did wince, that wasn't so nice, and her knees buckled for a moment before she managed to steady herself.

West was too far away from Conquest and Famine to actually hear their conversation, but there was pointing and grinning and whatever they were talking about didn't seem like it was going to benefit him in the slightest. Even though he had been going out of his way to make a good impression on the heirs, that didn't stop him from scowling at Cymbeline, peering curiously at the ghoul while trying to read her lips. Had he known that he was a nod away from becoming a projectile, there would have been more eye-narrowing involved.

"What do you think I'm trying to do?" the dragon growled. He was trying to get up. It was just that right now, he was having no success with doing such a thing. With a wince, Jericho tried to push himself back to his feet, but he was still where he was right now.

If she was perfectly honest with herself, Eris was remarkably pleased as both Riley and Jericho used her to assist their own attacks, watching first one, then the other pass to either side of her just as she was leaping backward. A dangerous move, one which would have cost them, had Caelius chosen to attack -- had he so much as even tried to hit her, much less have succeeded, all three of them would have likely been downed in one hit. Luckily for them, it seemed as though he was too busy avoiding her dagger to notice, her smile broadening as the shredded cloak was discarded.
Except... there was something wrong. The master-hunter hadn't even tried to attack. He'd had plenty of time...
There was a flickering of blue in the corner of her eye, and she realized half a second before it happened what he was up to. Immediately, her expression turned flat, posture straightening and relaxing even as the barrier went up, blue electricity skittering over the surface of her skin. It burned -- naturally it burned -- but there was no indication of pain evident in her expression, her eyes focused with skepticism on Caelius. So this is the game he wanted to play, hm? Well, it was working about as well for him now as it had on the island -- it took not a moment for Aisa and Invictus to step through, followed (with a bit more effort) by Cym.
"Did not. I tell you. To avoid the Master-hunters?" she inquired softly, her head turning to face the other students. There wasn't any irritation, only a reminder -- they might be dicks, but overall the horsemen did know what they were talking about.

Not waiting for a response, perhaps not expecting one at all, Eris tightened her fist on the gold dagger once more, taking a single step to move through the barrier. There was some resistance -- as a brief thought, she wondered if perhaps there was a correlation between Insanity and how difficult it was to step through, but the thought was gone as soon as she was free, her wings snapping open to shake the last after-shocks of electricity from her wings.

Still Sammy tried to drag herself over reaching a hand out to try and help tug Jericho up, if they both pulled maybe they could find a middle ground and get up?
She took only a moment to glare at War, considering everything that had happened what she said next might cost her later but damned if she ********. That." She muttered as her left hand grabbed Jericho's the bit of defiance towards the horsemen giving her enough will to give a half hearted tug at the dragons arm trying to help get him moving.

"You did. Unfortunately, I've a bit of a grudge against this one," Shun hissed as he stared out at the horsemen who had managed to escape. All four had gotten out, leaving most of the rest of them inside the barrier now.
In any case, he was rather aware of the risks he took when he decided to give chase. It may have partially been due to pride that had him go as well.

Jericho scoffed a bit at Eris's words. Yes, she had told them all to avoid the masters, but he heard a little differently from Nox. That, and he wasn't about to leave Riley without providing some form of backup. Well, attempt to provide backup, that is. He hadn't done a whole lot of that thus far.
Feeling Sammy grab his hand, he fist tightened up and he shifted his wings slightly. There wasn't a whole lot of other movement aside from that.

Though the pain from touching the barrier was beginning to subside, Thackery felt himself growing weaker and weaker. He kneeled down, shifting to be a little closer to the other students who were still trapped in the barrier. Letting himself be singled out so easily might not be a good idea if the dynamics of the fight suddenly shifted - being attached at the hip to his brothers for most of his life had taught him that much.
He watched on with tired eyes as one student reached for another. He wanted his brothers. He wanted Ash. He wanted Princess Cinders. The horsemen had been right: this situation would have turned out far better if he'd stayed out of it. In the end, what could he do? He wanted so badly to be able to help, but it occurred to him a bit too late that helping meant staying out of the way here.
"I just don't want him to win again," he said, voice a low growl through the lingering pain.

The other horsemen had put some distance between themselves and Caelius once more, striking at him before retreating. From one corner of the barrier, she could hear Cym's voice climbing as she all but pleaded with Invictus to throw something -- a student, as it would seem. Flicking her eyes to West, she took note that it was the handsome boil from before who had been so angry, taking the moment to indulge before refocusing on the white cloak and glowing scythe. He hadn't de-summoned it, still standing in a defensive pose, as if he were ready for them, perhaps even anticipating their escape. Normally, this might have made her more thoughtful, more cautious, and maybe she would have figured out his little plan.
But that time was long since passed. She was far too gone -- she was drunk on this war, and the Insanity had all but taken over. It was in a fight that it was most prominent, flickering in and out, any battle which heated her blood, but it was only with Caelius that it was as if she were back on the island.
She wondered, briefly, if he'd done it on purpose. Four horsemen, four daggers keeping the barrier up. But no -- Caelius cared little about them. Little to none. They were nuisances, annoying pets that happened to get in the way enough to warrant chasing them off every once in a while. War's heir, confident and arrogant as she was, had been hard pressed to accept this fact. But with their duel at the sight of Red's death, it had been all but shoved down her throat. She boasted that they would kill him, that she would kill him, but it was nothing but hot air. Even now, the thought made every muscle in her body tense, her knuckles white as she gripped the dagger, eyes flashing a bit with rage.
Smiling a little, Eris didn't look back at Shun, but she answered regardless, fire already starting to climb up the length of her arms.
"Grudges cause us to make bad decisions sometimes."
There was a breath of silence. Nothing moved -- the air was still, stiller than death, and she heard nothing, not the crackle of the barrier behind her, not Jericho's scoff or Sammy's snide remark, not her own kin planning the master-hunter's death. Her eyes slid closed in that brief moment in time, and she took a deep, slow breath, seconds feeling like minutes spanning before her. And then the forest was aflame. War's eyes snapped open, irises white-hot as twisting columns consumed her completely, licking at her own flesh til it began to char black, the ends of feathers curling and turning to ash. The trees around her burned, but so did she, teeth bared in defiance as a wave of fire crashed into the scythe-wielding hunter.

If Caelius was at all surprised at the two students who forced themselves through the barrier, he did not acknowledge it. Instead, his attention shifted to Invictus's arrow as it glanced off Circe, and then immediately to Cymbeline's rattling scales, once again a strange jarring clang as Horsemen's weapon pushed against the Hunter's. They locked, just temporarily, the Hunter suddenly lowering his scythe to force the Famine Heir off balance, throwing her to one side.
The Horsemen and the students had numbers, yet what they did not have was a viable strategy: perhaps for the Horsemen their minds had long forsaken the ability to do so, tainted by Insanity.
Caelius was on the offensive again, West's projectile glancing off his Fear Shield as the vicinity exploded in fire, Eris's wrath aimed straight for the Hunter. He lowered his weapon, for a second echoing how he had tried to cleave through Red's final attack - only this time, as he seemed to be consumed in the flames entirely, the scythe hummed and the path of fire changed directions entirely. The Hunter continued forward regardless of injuries. "Actually I have a proposal. " Another arc of blue light as his weapon swerved downwards, pushing the remaining flames away. "A truce."
The third swipe of the scythe was only a feint, the Hunter had already moved away, pulling out a fifth matching dagger from his coat. Instead of planting it directly onto the ground however, he seemed to disappear-
- and reappear right before Riley, the Relic weapon hilt sticking out from her back. The dagger crackled wildly as it searched for an outlet, electric blue sparks arcing from blade point outwards, causing her form to flicker and waver, a strange black smoke - Fear in its diluted form - hissing from the wound. The weapon was trying to absorb the mindflayer entirely.
Caelius had seen the look Eris had given the students, a warning, almost considerate. "In exchange for their lives, or am I wrong in thinking that you do not care for them?" His eyes flickered to the clearing behind them, where the others had been ambushed. "And I mean all of them, your warriors, your little pets." OOC Students:Riley: The dagger, while able to generate a protective Fear barrier, also disrupts Fear entirely. The pain is paralyzing at the best, though whether or not she can stay conscious during the entire ordeal is another story... Dagger effect: Riley's HP IS EXACTLY ZERO. She has not dissipated quite yet though, unfortunately, the dagger interfering with even the ability to do so. West: West can attempt to pull the dagger out of Riley. Roll a 6-sided dice. If even, he succeeds, Riley is freed, but the dagger saps away half his hp before he drops it and buries it into the ground, unable to attack this turn. If odd, it will absorb almost all his Fear as well, making his HP ALSO ZERO (but unable to dissipate) All other students:- The barrier is still in effect and the paralytic feeling is getting worse, as if resonating with the fifth dagger. It feels as if something is pulling apart their very structure, their limbs, the essence that creates them. They are barely hanging onto consciousness, and do not have the energy to escape Horsemen:- Caelius is offering a choice - at the price of a truce, a negotiation of terms. If they accept, well, it looks like they'll have to put their weapons down and stop attacking, it not, well, they personally do not have much to lose...

It was becoming painfully obvious that the students held a distinct advantage, one that, she realized, was the entire reason they were being used in the first place. They were so easy to ignore. So unassuming, their lesser Fears hidden behind the thrum of the Horsemen, easy to throw stones (quite literally, in West's case) from behind their curtain of safety.
And that was exactly why the Mayor was putting them in harm's way, wasn't it?
Even as Riley came to that comforting conclusion, her body turned to head for Jericho, and arched forward with the pressure of a sudden burst of pain. It wasn't even clear to her what had happened, but the crackle of energy that started bouncing over her skin made her assume she'd just been hit with some kind of attack.
It took a full few seconds, and a few steps toward Jericho as if to ignore the pain, before she realized there was a dagger buried between her shoulderblades.
She dropped to her knees, looked down at her chest, and reached out to touch the tip that was pushing her dress just slightly forward between her breasts. It stung to the touch, and all she could say about it was a soft, quiet, almost vaguely curious - Oh.
But she was not done. Not by far. The Horsemen were being given an option - an out - and she was suddenly being used as a pawn in Caelius' sick little game.
She was the only one who used pawns around here.
Riley's finger lifted, pointed directly at Eris, who was closest to her. The electricity cracked all through her arm, until it reached the point of her finger, which then turned to Invictus as well.
Don't you ******** dare.
A moment later, she fell to the ground, lifeless. With her final words, she'd denied the Horsemen their choice - and sacrificed herself and the other students in the process.
Hail to the Chief.

"RILEY! Jericho all but roared (to the best of his ability given the current circumstances). He was about to try and get up to rush the barrier once again, but with the fifth dagger out, he noticed that he was having even more trouble moving. It hurt like hell. If he were to ever be ripped to shreds bit by bit, he imagined it would be similar to this.
Instead, he stared with wide eyes as the Mindflayer fell before him, with a blade sticking straight through her. She was now laying there, lifeless on the ground.
What else was being said? He didn't know anymore. Right now? He didn't really care either. After seeing his best friend be struck down like that, his mind had gone numb. His strength was completely gone. He had failed her.
