╚══════.♥.═╝She went back to the easier one that she skipped over. The dog was so simple she made it after looking at it for a very brief moment. "Yeah... I guess she is strict about her rules. You should have seen how hard she threw it at me!" She was getting slightly louder as well, though she was too afraid to get much louder. It would be beyond her personality and her safety. She took another look at the dragon handseal, and after a few tries she eventually got a hold of it.
Her eyes darted back and forth between the scroll, the sensei, and Jin. She didn't know what to expect if the sensei caught them talking. "The bird is pretty easy if you look at it." She made the bird handseal for an example he could clearly see. A strand of hair fell to her face and she moved it out of the way. Her shy side kicked in for a bit as she went back to the handseals and performed the hare and horse handseals easily.
The ox was next which took her a little bit, but after a few tries, she managed to get it down. The maonkey was just as easy as the dog, and with a quick look, she had that one. The ram was fairly difficult. The fingers looked right, but it felt wrong, only to find out she had it backwards. With it the correct way, it seemed to fit quite easily. Her eyes quickly shifted in Jin's direction and then back to her scroll. She was too afraid to say much more for fear of embarrassing herself.

Chiaki calmed herself down significantly and turned to face the two students that had finished training. It wasn't fair to her to let the two suffer just because everyone didn't finish. So rather than punishing them, she decided to have them train. "Okay you two... while we wait for everyone else to finish, I'm gonna have you two train. It's quite simple. All you have to do is run around the academy grounds. Do that a few times and the other two should be done by then."

Jin glanced down at the bird seal and gulped. Easy? It didn't look that way to him. After a good ten seconds of staring he glanced back up from his scroll, not wanting to make his confusion apparent. "Yeah, simple enough," he grinned, as if that would hide the fact that he was fumbling miserably in an attempt to recreate the sign. When it became apparent that he would need to review the bird seal Jin picked his scroll up as a guise, instead glancing in the sensei's direction before speaking again. "You'd think the person in charge of teaching us would be more concerned about our safety," he muttered, still looking at Chiyaki from behind his scroll.
Distracted momentarily by a lack of success, Jin began looking over all of the various hand seals, rather than focusing on accomplishing one. "The tiger and the snake are almost identical, aren't they? The only difference is that in the tiger your index fingers are up and together," he mumbled, more thinking out loud than talking to his neighbor.

I guess it proves to show adults just don't make sense...but we are going to be ninja, and if we had a softy we would be ill prepared for the battelfield, not to mention becoming softies oursevles..." she turned pink, Ah! You're rambling again! You got to stop doing that! She gave a nervous giggle before looking back at the handseals. "Now that you mention it, they do, and the ram looks similar to the rat and tiger as well."
Miyako looked closely at the ones she had left. The snake was easiest and so she did that one. From there she lifted her fingers to form the tiger seal like Jin had said. From their she slid one hand up to cover her two fingers and thus made the rat seal and completed the handseals. She smiled at her quick learning and knack for book work. "Hey it worked! That's the last of them. Here," she said repeating the same movements towards Jin, " they are very similar, like you said."

Jin nodded, noticing Miyako's apparent fluster, though he kept a calm expression. The boy just figured she needed to breath more in between sentences or something. "Good point. This isn't a daycare, after all." He could appreciate tough love (that's the term he associated with harsh punishment), he was used to it. His reward for sleeping in had been his morning tea in the form of a scalding shower, lovingly served by his mother.
He copied the rat seal when Miyako showed him, getting this particular seal on the first try. "Ah, I got it, thanks," the boy grinned at her. "It's a lot easier when someone shows you. You can barely see what you're supposed to do on this," he gave his scroll a dejected look. Next he performed the tiger, which wasn't much different. He didn't even have to change one hand at all. After tucking his fingers in, and then elevating one hand slightly, he performed the ram seal.

Jin swallowed nervously as he stared down the rest of the list. None of the remaining hand seals struck him as particularly easy.
Wait a minute... why am I even a little nervous? There's no consequence for failure. The boy could only chuckle at himself now. All he had to do was take his time. If he messed up, so what? He looked down the list, now in a much more rational mindset. The boar seemed to be the most simple seal left. Jin put his hands in front of him, palms facing inward, with the knuckles toward the ground. When he felt that he had channeled a bit of chakra he grinned to himself.
Next he would attempt the bird seal. It's depiction was hard to understand. To Jin it seemed like the hardest seal of them all, so he figured he would get it out of the way now. After this it would be smooth sailing. He turned the boar upward, and stretched his fingers out so that they met. From the picture he could tell he was supposed to bring one finger from each hand down, but which ones? Frustrated, he started experimenting with fingers until, finally, he found the right combination to form the seal correctly.

Jin jumped right into the next seal. He had always found that continuing at a constant rate was important. After momentum was established, training was simply a matter of keeping that momentum going. Next up was the dog seal. It was simple enough. A fist, covered by an open palm. Then the dragon; he fumbled a little this time. After a few seconds of struggling he finally managed to get the right position: palms facing each other with the fingers interlocked. For a minute he felt like he was going to lose his drive, but everything was still going well. Now the hare. Out of these three it took the longest. The boy scratched his head, staring blankly at his paper for a moment.
It looks like the same thing with both hands... He made an 'L' shape with his thumb and forefinger, then hooked his hands together. It was easy, after he had put some thought into it.

╚══════.♥.═╝Miyako would have stayed with the young boy if she were an ordinary person, but she was beginning to feel uncomfortable. Not by anything he said or did, but because she was used to being by herself and not really outgoing with anyone except her family. Jin looked like he had a good grasp of the concept, and she thought that she may as well get some extra credit since it was offered. She wondered if her sensei would care seeing as she didn't give the training to her directly. It's not like I'm causing trouble. I'm just trying to stay fit to be a ninja. She stood up and gave Jin a slight bow, "I'm going to run now, thanks for the help." She left him with those words and couldn't make eye contact. She began her run and decided to pace herself.
Within a few minutes she found herself winded and figured she needed to adjust her pace. She learned that running wasn't her favorite thing. Is she would have created a puppet to carry her, she would make it do all the walking for her. She could already feel droplets of sweat in places she didn't know had glands.
After a few minutes passed she was getting really warm and her cloak was getting in her way. Dressing in black was probably not her best idea but luckily she was wearing her white tank top underneath. Before running any further, she took off her cloak and placed it where she was sitting. She fixed her hat before running off.
A tank top would normally seem like something she wouldn't wear but she was glad she wore it, however, she was not happy about wearing her capris. Wearing sleeves would be embarrassing andit was nice to feel the air through the fabric. She kept the pace where it was at, thinking she found the right one. She began thinking about what she was going to learn in the next few days.
While she was lost in thought, her pace began to pick up and she found herself winded and heating up. The bad thing about living in caves was the temperature was at a constant with hardly any wind, though there were a few times the wind happened to blow into the caverns. She wiped her forehead on her arm bandages. She would need to pick some fresh ones on her way home. Hers were beginning to fray and become dingy... even after washing them.

╚══════.♥.═╝Taking off the cloak not only cooled her down, but made her more aerodynamic. It was like running with sail. Maybe some other time she would run with it on to giveher a little challenge, but for now she just wanted to get herself active again. Her pace had returned back to normal so she wasn't getting tired out as fast, but the heat wasn't doing her justice.
Since she was running by herself it gave her time to think and forget about running and give herself some 'me' time. I really hope the sensei isn't always as mean as she was today. If she is, then this will be a very long class... did she run her team too hard and so was demoted to an academy teacher? Thinking seemed to pass the time pretty fast, and that was four down and she had six more to go.
She was getting really tired and warm. The blood just seemed to rush to her head and she felt woozy. She took a seat and began fanning herself. The air was cooler than she was, but it wasn't any different than the air around her. A bath was going to be in her future, she could tell. This sensei was going to run them till their legs would become jelly, and then she'd make them crawl.
Although this was the only time she had a decent work-out. She was slim, but certainly not fit. She tried to stand up and run, but she was too exhausted to even attempt it. She sat back down and wiped her brow. She undid the cloth bandages from around her arms, revealing her soft arms with a few cuts on them from working with her father. It helped slightly, but she was still warm.
Why does it have to be so damn hot in these caves? It's got to be, what? A hundred degrees? I wish we could go back to the surface where the wind blew... She still couldn't run, however this time she had a cramp in her leg, which was bugging the hell out of her. She wished she had a puppet, and then perhaps she could try cheating her way through it, though her parents wouldn't necessarily be too happy if she got caught.

"Oh, goodbye. And thank you as well." Jin didn't manage to look up and smile until the girl was already walking away. He stared for a moment, dismayed that he was behind the rest of the class. Oh man! This wouldn't have happened if I had gotten up on time. Not to mention what father is going to say... No. It was better not to think about it, the ninja-in-training concluded. He wasn't that far behind anyway; only two of the seals remained.
Forcing away his ruminations, Jin studied the more difficult of the two remaining seals, the horse. "So I just lock my fingers... like this. Then, with my index fingers up, and together... got it!" The boy only narrated his actions when his concentration was at it's peak levels. "Now all that's left is the Ox," he declared to himself in a tone that was more than a little self-satisfied. "Put my fingers up with this hand. Bring the other across, lock fingers, and fold the middle too... and," he waited for the tickling sensation of chakra to confirm his victory. "I DID IT!" he cried to himself, glad the tedious brain work was over with.

Entering the Ninja Academy, Shino was ready to get back to another day of have work. If she planned on becoming a genjutsu specialist she was going to have to work her butt off and that started on the first chapter. The young girl couldn't just expect her skills to improve by procrastinating, nope she was going to have to train hard. It was actually something she was willing to do, mainly because she was extremely stubborn in wanting to prove her brothers she could do it. It was a challenge she had gladly excepted, even though she was the only one aware of the challenge. Her brothers never specifically challenged her, she simply took their teasing as a new challenge, a new obstacle to face. Now that she was back at the location of her basic ninja skills education she was going to have to start off on where she had left off the day before.

╚══════.♥.═╝Miyako was having troubles breathing. The running around the academy wasn't getting any easier and she was beginning to wonder if it ever would. She stopped to catch her breath. This is brutal! I can't believe she's making us run around the academy! Why can't we just learn our stuff? We can run on our own.
She peered over towards the teacher to spot another unlucky soul to appear to class late. Her leg muscles gave way and she fell on her bottom. A little dazed from the fall she looked around for the newcomer. No doubt she would meet the same 'welcoming greeting' that Miyako had received before having a book hurled at her face.
She couldn't bring herself to stand up with her legs feeling like gelatin. She gave up trying and remained sitting on the floor. Her cloth wrappings were becoming more dirty by the minute. She would definitely have to buy more on her way back home, or scrounge around for some at home somewhere. I hope this ends soon...
