It was like watching a train wreck. It was too horrible to watch, but you had to anyway. That was Moure's instant thought when Danny's brother grabbed Rikki and threw the other teenage boil against a wall. Danny went after the reaper, leaving a table rather burnt on her way. Moure pressed back against his seat, trying to distance himself from the fire the best he could. How had this night gone so bad so fast? Moure wanted to check on Rikki, but he didn't want to get in Danny's way, and there was another obstacle ahead of him. Oersted was still there.
When the tall fire demon turned to him, Moure flinched and shrank a little. At his suggestion, Moure swallowed, eyes shifting to avoid looking at the man. Quietly he spoke, his voice tembling slightly. "Of course, Sir." He slipped out of the booth, posture suggesting defeat, and gave Danny a fleeting look to take in the situation as best he could. Then, he bolted from the room, from the building, from everything. But there was one thing he couldn't escape from.
He couldn't escape the truth he'd known all along.

There was still no movement. Oh Jack what was she supposed to do. He couldn't be dead right?! Danny's eyes went wide at that thought. "H-Help! Someone help!" she cried out, "Someone please, anyone ..." It was clear the employees had all but cleared the area. There definitely was no Nurse Cricket here to swoop in and save the day. She was totally alone.
In utter despair, Danny put her head down on his chest to at least try and feel a heart beat. A shudder of relief went through her as she felt the familiar pounding of a heart. He wasn't dead, and he was certainly going to be okay. She looked at his limbs ... nothing really looked out of place. Danny was no doctor, but she deemed him at least okay.
Looking around, she tried to find where Moure went, only to find the place completely empty. He must of run off at some point in the argument ... the battle? Whatever it was. Danny felt sorry for that at least, but right now apologizing to Moure wasn't her biggest concern. That could come later. Right now it was about Rikki, and getting him to a safe place.
So she did just that. It was a little awkward since he was out like a lamp, and completely limp, but she still did her best. With a little, she got his arms up and over her head, while using her backside to support the bulk of his weight. Danny felt a little proud that she could lift him all by herself, but there was no time to gloat. Well not only that, there was no one to gloat to. So she took it step by step and headed towards the elevator, eager to return to her little suite on the next floor down.
---
In silence, she made her way to her door and entered the password code awkwardly (it was a tad difficult considering she had the entire weight of a boil on her back). The door opened nonentheless, and she walked Rikki over to the bed. She thought it nice enough to at least take off his shoes (who liked sleeping in shoes after all?) She thought about changing his clothes, but it made her face so red and hot that she thought better of herself. He could sleep in his own clothes for the night, that was for sure.
Carefully, she pulled the covers over him and brushed the hair out of his face. He looked oddly peaceful, like he was just sleeping and not knocked out. As she was doing so, she noticed reddish marks around his neck. Had Rikki been attacked by someone on his way here? Maybe he was getting bullied at school? Whatever it was, it didn't make Danny too happy.
With a sigh, she got up and pulled a chair to his bedside. Like hell she was going to leave him alone when Oersted could just come like ... murder him in his sleep. Or maybe something worse. Danny shuddered. No time to think about that.
She spent a few moment staring at Rikki and then quickly grew bored. After all, he was just laying there; there wasn't really much to watch. Not to mention she felt this odd clenching in her chest every time she looked at him that made her feel so bad that she didn't even want to think about it. All of this had been her fault. She was the one who invited them out here.
No, no wait. It wasn't her fault. This was all OERSTED's jacking fault. He was the one who had come in with guns 'a blazin' ready to ruin her life. As usual. The worst part was that he totally got away with it to. He had no mother or father there to scold him, no manager to fire him, no press to reveal him. He had totally jacking gotten away with it. Danny was shaking, both with rage and sadness now. What if Rikki never woke up?
She decided to distract herself with her ever faithful phone. With a sigh, she pulled it out and typed a short message to Moure. It was short as her fingers were trembling even typing it:Text to Moure moure. im so, so sorry. all of what oersted said is wrong. im really really really sorry. Danny thought for a moment and then added;Text to Moure please tell edel i said hi. i mean it. go tell her. If anyone knew how to cheer him up, it would be Edel, not her. Danny had finally figured it out; Edel was the one to make Moure most happy, not her. Even if she had fancy dinners and played amazing songs and passed all of her exams with flying colors, Moure was always going to put Edel first, and be happiest with her.
It was odd, it brought a sort of lulling happiness to Danny. It didn't mean she had to like Edel, and she was most likely never going to get over their rivalry. No scratch that, she DEFINITELY wasn't going to get over their rivalry. It at least meant that Danny could depend on Edel to bring Moure things that she couldn't. It didn't make the shaking stop or make it hurt any less; it was just a realization, a cold and simple realization.
With that, Danny shut her phone and threw it on the night stand next to the bed. She reached out to touch Rikki's hand and then restrained. Would that be awkward? That would be weird wouldn't it? Danny wanted to hold his hand though. Why was that? And why was her face so red?
Danny sucked in a breath. She wasn't actually ... falling in love with Rikki, was she? Suddenly it all made sense. The red face, the clenching heart, the sudden and instantaneous sense of disaster she had felt when he slammed against the wall. Danny thought about this odd feeling for a while, and then relented. She would think about that more later, and that Moure even later.
She was still shaking with anger and shock, but for now she put her head down on the bedside, still sitting in the chair, and fell asleep with her hand outstretched, but not touching Rikki's.

The first think that came back was vision. Light beat on his eyelids, turning everything red for an instant before he blinked them open and squinted blearily at the ceiling. ... That didn't look like his ceiling. Next came the feeling in his legs and arms, and he wiggled his fingers and toes, feeling the heavy soreness in every muscle. It didn't feel like he'd been out that long, but his body was definitely protesting. Sound might have came back sometime in there, but he couldn't tell because there was nothing to be heard.
He turned his head slowly, fighting off swimming vision, and took in his surroundings. Fancy. Big. Spacious. And definitely no room he knew of. "Where the jack am I?" His voice was hoarse a low as if the pathways in his brain were still figuring out how to make things work right, but the question managed to come out clear enough. Turning the other direction managed to reveal Danny's head face down on the bed he was laying in. "Danny?" Croak. Cough. Strained muscle stretching as he tried to relieve the aches.
And then he remembered.
He shot up in bed, glancing around and looking almost panicked. His heart felt like it had gone from zero to sixty. "Where the hell is he?"

Danny hadn't woken up to the sound of her name, but Rikki's jerking forward definitely did the trick. Her entire little "bed" arrangement was disrupted, and she found herself groggily blinking at the boil occupying her bed. For a moment, she just stayed there smiling at Rikki. It was a nice sight to wake up to. Then everything clicked together and she thought of something.
Oh Jack, her hair must've been a mess. She had slept in the same outfit too! Danny was embarrassed with something she wasn't normally embarrassed by. It was ... ghoulish. Unfamiliar.
Danny's rushed to throw on a jacket sitting by the door, and by the time she returned, Rikki was asking where "he" was. "He" undoubtedly referred to Oersted. Danny rushed over and put a hand on his arm, and another on his chest. "R-Rikki! Shhhh! Calm down! It's okay," she cooed. Calmly, she pet the side his head, scratching behind his ears. This was how you calmed down a dog, so it would work for a boil too, right?

He shuddered slightly when she touched him, coming down from the adrenaline high some, but his eyes were still wide, confused, when he glanced at her. He obviously wasn't entirely assured because his gaze only locked on her for a few moments before skating over the room again. "Where are we?"
He wanted to say it was anger and irritation that were driving him. Wanted to say that he was hoping Oersted was in the vicinity so that he could kick his demon a**. The truth was, Nyyrikki was fairly terrified on a very basic level. Oersted was a powerful demon. More than powerful. And the sheer emotion behind that power was what really deserved to be feared. Without so much as a real effort Nyyrikki had been tossed through the air like a rag doll; easily broken, easily discarded.
What did that say about Nyyrikki's power?
Weak. So weak.
He leaned into the petting a bit, face hardening into something far more Rikki-like as he pressed his lips together. "Why doesn't Demi like this? It feels good."

Where were they? Where were they indeed. "We're in my room. Well, my room here. Yours was supposed to be next door, but I guess I just brought you here ... ummm." Needless to say, she wasn't very helpful or descriptive as to where they were.
Danny smiled and continued petting him. At least someone was accepting her petting. Not many of the animal students really liked being rubbed so hard, but perhaps Danny was doing it a bit softer because of his injuries.
Injuries! Danny suddenly halted the petting and said, "Oh! Oh are you okay?" A slight frown crossed her face, trying to explain what she meant. "Do you need any bandaids? Pumpkin pills?" She was no Malodore, but she could at least how understand how those worked. She jolted as she realized he hadn't eaten at all since before coming here. "Oh my Jack you haven't eaten like at all! I ... I can get you something if you want! I mean it's like one floor up and it would be a really fast run-"

His brows furrowed aqs he tried to connect dots, but his brain was moving at the most sluggish of paces. Rubbing his forehead he sighed. "Are we in the same building as the restaurant?" But then she'd gone on a tangent and answered his question.
"I'm... not really hungry anymore to be honest," he grimaced. He stretched out his limbs and began to systematically move everything he knew how to move. Shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, hips, knees, ankles, toes. He even bent his spine and took a deep breath to check his ribs. "No I don't think there's any real damage. I was probably still pretty limp from trying to shadow meld. My head is rocking, but that will go away. Actually..." he looked at her with hopeful eyes. "Tea?"
Yes. Rikki liked tea.

A sigh of relief fluttered out of Danny's chest as Rikki moved around. So he was sore, but he didn't scream out in pain or anything. Always a plus. Danny realized she was a tad sore from the position she had slept in last night, and decided to move around a little bit as well. It was odd, she couldn't get this sore feeling out of her wings even though she hadn't even slept with them open last night. Weird.
Her hopes were dashed when Rikki asked for Tea. She ... couldn't really make tea. Well she could try. That's it! She would try for him! It was her fault he was so messed up in the first place. Danny shook her head in a 'yes' motion and headed into the small kitchen annex of the suite, leaving Rikki to do as he pleased.
Tea... you needed water for that didn't you? Danny stared at the sink. She could do this. She set a pot in the middle of the sink. Eerily, she stared down at the sink, waiting for a giant water demon to just come splashing up and kill her. Well ... no signs of pure evil yet.
Deep breaths. She could do this. With a concentrated, yet shaking hand, she flipped the faucet handle.
... and then she jumped the Jack away, knocking over a second plate on her way. As the water clanged into the pot, she was busy jumping away and hiding under a table. Her eyes were wide, but she took a moment to calm herself down. Deeeep breaths. She could do this.
Like a ninja, she snuck out from under the table. She stared at the water dramatically. The water pretty much did the same thing water always does. Danny winced. She could do this ... she could do thissss...
She couldn't do this. With a disappointed look on her face, Danny took off a shoe and threw it at the faucet, effectively shutting off. She wasn't brave enough to even make a pot of tea.
Drudging back into the bedroom, Danny hung her head. She must've looked pretty odd all out of breath (still in shock), and missing a shoe. "I ... I couldn't do it," she said miserably.
Oh Jack she couldn't just give up though! "B-But! I'll um. I'll go. Um. OH! I'll go upstairs and get you some! Would that be okay?."

Nyyrikki honestly hadn't been expecting Danny to go attempt to make him some tea. She knew it involved water right? He just wanted to know if she had bags. He'd be about to tell her head make it himself but she was gone before the words could leave her mouth and he was left in the bed. Well... Might as well let her try.
He barely choked back a laugh as she returned, shoe-less and panting, to the room. It wasn't hard to imagine the battle that had occurred. "No, just stay, I can make my own tea." He swung his feet over the side of the bed and move to get up, but swayed and fell hard back onto the bed. Cradling his head in his hands he groaned. "My head is a little more messed up than I thought."

Danny was already skipping and running out the door to go fetch some of this "tea" when she heard a long WHUMPH. The sound belonging to Rikki's head hitting the bed. Her head was already whipping around searching for the source of the noise when Rikki started groaning.
Oh Jack, what the hell was she supposed to do? Danny didn't know how to treat the situation. She wasn't Malodore or Nurse Cricket. Heck, most of the time, she barely remembered to bandage herself after getting scrapes. Her arms and knees were just covered in little scratches for Doc's sake.
Still, she had a heart somewhere under all that skin. "R-Rikki!" she exclaimed as she skidded to his side. What could she do? What was she supposed to do? THIS WAS NOT IN THE MANUAL.
Danny hopped onto the bed; perhaps out of instinct, or perhaps just so she could get a better look at his head (even though she'd already examined it the night before). Gently, she sat by his laying body and moaned, "Ohhh I don't know what to do." Then perhaps more under her breath she said, "This is all my faulttttt."

He turned toward her, running his hand down her arm though he didn't open his eyes. He just wanted to lay there until all the swimminess went away. Swimminess? Was that a word? Probably not. He'd Greugle it later if he remembered.
He probably wouldn't.
"Mnnggh. Don't worry about it. You just invited me to dinner," he sighed. "I was the one who decided to stand up to your brother. Is he really your brother? He's huge." He was kind of rambling, but standing up had cause funny blood-rush type things and his head just kind of hurt. If he talked, he could ignore that. "He asked me about my family and it pissed me off."

Looking down, Rikki looked pretty damn pathetic. Like really pathetic. Maybe it was mean, but seriously. The guy looked like a wreck. All of that was her fault. All of it. Absentmindedly, Danny's fingers returned to intertwining with Rikki's hair as she pet him softly.
"I should've known that Oersted would do something like that," she criticized herself, harshly. Of course stupid Oersted would ruin something that made her happy. He always did. As soon as she learned to spell, he was writing amazing high school essays. As soon as she learned to play the guitar, he exploded with his piano skill. Always.
Danny decided to change the subject. She didn't want to talk about her big brother. "Your family?" Come to think of it, she didn't know anything about Rikki's family. She knew he had a mom and a dad; that was pretty common knowledge. She'd never once heard him talk about who they were or anything. Leaning against the backboard, she said, "Tell me about them."

He screwed up his face and squeezed his eyes open. He'd meant to ask something along the lines of why Oersted was even here, still not understanding that O was a giant symbol for the demon who'd kicked his a**. But she she'd already moved on and was asking about his family, and he could only focus on one thing at a time right now.
The petting motion on her arm stopped and he closed his eyes, appearing to go to sleep for a short second, but then he breathed deep and opened his mouth. "My family sucks. My parents think I'm a waste of time and don't really give me the time of night. They're jacking emotionless most of the time, and they always agree on everything. My Dad, his name's Tapio, He's a big guy, but he follows my mom around like a lost puppy sometimes." He sighed and hummed something low in his throat as he tilted his head into her petting touched. "Thatfeelsgood," another pause before he continued.
"I guess they weren't always bad, but they turned horrible after Tellervo."

His family didn't ... they didn't like caring for him? Danny couldn't comprehend this. Even with the Oersted problem, Danny had never seen her parents as not caring or neglectful (though, in essence, that is exactly what they were). The way his face twisted up. Danny's head was beginning to hurt but in a different way.
She didn't like that he stopped stroking her arm so softly too. It was like little lightning bolts going down her arm. Maybe Rikki was actually a mage too?
Danny realized that Rikki was holding his head in his hands with nothing underneath it. "D-Do you want a pillow? I can go get one!" she informed him. Her hand never left his head though. It was clearly making him happy, and she was adoring that purring noise he was making.

"Mmmnnnh..." He cracked his eyes open as if contemplating the offer and then shook his head, only groaning after his brain stopped ricocheting off the insides of his skull. "No, I'm good." As if too prove his point, he rolled over until he was on his stomach and could just pillow his arms in his head. Most nights he ended up like this anyways, legs sprawled everywhere. Tonight he was straight as an arrow, but his t-shirt rode up slightly revealing the dark skin of his lower back.
"Are you going to be as powerful as Oersted? Even Tellervo wasn't that powerful and he's like," he wiggled his fingers as if counting, "Ten years older."
