"Having second thoughts about introducing me to your pack, I see," she mused. "That's fine." It wasn't the pack that interested her anymore. She was looking at what was clearly the most interesting feature it had.
She turned her attention to the area he had chosen as camp, picking out a good tree. Perhaps she'd finish that nap he had interrupted.

"Frankly put, I'm not sure they wouldn't tear you to shreds with the attitude you've shown.. but then.. I think It'd be rather amusing to see some one else light into my paternal unit..." It was a twisted sinister grin that now formed on his maw. The kind that truly meant that what ever horrible things he might be cooking up he was enjoying just the thoughts alone but would enjoy the actual acts there of far more.

She shifted to her feline form so she could lick her paw and clean her face with it, a casual gesture. "It might be entertaining to see if all of the males in your little pack are as delusional as you are. But then, if they are, then it would be rather dull."

"Go hack a furball!" He snarled out the insult, words dripping with venom as he shifted back to his feral form and stalked over to a nice tree away from her to lounge in and catch what was left of the sun. "Delusional.." He snorted once more, mumbling to himself as he made himself more comfortable on the large branch.

She managed to keep her laughter to a silent chuckle, rather than rolling on the ground laughing. Oh, he was ADORABLE when he was riled up. She made a mental note to get under his fur more often. She even dismissed his growled insult, since it clearly upset him more.
Still chuckling, she climbed her own tree and curled up to nap.

The fading sun warmed his pelt as it drifted lower in the sky, so too did his eyes close and he drifted off into a light nap. His ears twitched as e slept, always moving to the sound of the birds and or other critters around. When his ears twitched, his tail would waggle, A sort of preditorial symbol that in nature clearly stated that the advantage was lost and he knew you were there.

Kali dozed, her eyes slitted slightly open. She didn't twitch or make any move, but, like Hez, she was aware of every rustle of leaf or mouse scurrying below. Movement worked its way through her dreams, and had any interesting scents drifted past her nose, she would have woken instantly. But no one would notice her in the leaves.
The first ray of light the next morning, saw her stretching lazily as she woke.

Mornings light warmed him once more and his eyes opened lazily. Most mornings he'd have awoken and crept off without a words notice before first light crept into the den. Here, he was in a tree and he had a female with him, not his usual company as he mostly kept to himself. Stretching, he dropped down from the tree with a small soft thud and lifted his nose to the air, sniffing for any sign of near by prey.

Kali watched him lazily, from her own branch, which she hadn't vacated yet. "Shall we meet back here once we've hunted? Or do you not trust me to hunt alone in your lands?"
She had never hunted with another before, being a loner by nature. In fact, she often found having others around irritating, once she lost interest in them. But Hez still had her interest, and she wasn't opposed to trying new things.

Heziah looked up to her branch and gave her a speculating look before giving a snort. "You're welcome to tag along if you like.. Just don't get in my way. I like to ...... enjoy the hunt thoroughly." That same cold beauty of a mask rolled over his face, etching it with the look of some one who delighted in the feel of others misery.
With a flick of his tail, he stalked off into the bush. Should she be stupid and try to go after the pack as a group, he knew she wouldn't get very far. After all, his father was often hunting about now to satisfy his own hunger, as was his mother likely. His only concerns were to keep an ear out for if this female should try to double cross him on the hunt.

"Clearly, you do," she murmured, remembering how it was that she had come to first lay eyes on this entertaining little creature. He had seemed less than pleased to have to end his hunt when she had interrupted. She felt no guilt. turnabout had been fair play, after all. She had been less than pleased to have her nap interrupted.
She considered going with him. She rarely killed her prey, simply took chunks out of them and allowed them to wander as they would. It would be interesting to watch another hunt. Coming to a decision, she stretched and jumped down nimbly. "I believe I shall see just what you are made of, Snowball."

"Have it your way, Flea bag." He sneered as walked, padding lightly as he looked for the scent of anything be it another soquili or a deer. He was a careful hunter, never stepping out of place even though he'd hunted this land all his life, he still thought out every move so as not to trip off near by animals of his presence. He rubbed through a near by sage brush, masking his scent. It was one technique he'd picked up having stumbled upon it when he was younger.
It wasn't long before he stopped and sniffed at the air, his mouth open slightly much like an actual cat's would be as he drew the scent in. It was the smell of a near by elk. Perfect he thought. it would be enough of a meal to feed both he and this female. Hunkering down low to the ground, he slipped off into the underbrush without waiting for her to follow.

Kali followed him, stepping lightly and almost seeming bored. If he proved to be an ineffective hunter, she was more than capable of rustling up her own meal. However, she was curious to see just what he would do. So, when he seemed to catch a scent, her ears perked forward and she turned her own nose to the wind to smell what he did.
Ah... let the entertainment begin! With a small smirk, she continued following him, with no intention of actually helping him make a kill.

The bull elk stood drinking from the brook without a care in the world. Heziah watched him a moment longer as he crept ever closer. The elk came into better view, he was closer now than he really needed to be but still the elk drank. In once moment it all seemed to start in a flash. His muscles flexed and he sprang out from his hiding place. The Elk nearly bricked himself as he sprang to start evasive procedures. Too late, Hez was there for every move playing cat and mouse to this poor thing.
As the elk dodged, he found the large cat right there on his every move. That sadistic look crept over Heziah's face forming that cold beautiful mask once more. He enjoyed this every moment of it. The frantic sprinting, the cried of dismay the animal let out. Finally he had his fun of the chase and it had built into the need to slaughter. He shifted without loosing a step from the feral form to his Soquili form and with a heavy paw, struck the hind quarters of the elk, knocking it off balance.
Before the elk could move, he was on it. He drew his claws through the flesh of the animal, spilling lines of crimson blood from the marks. The metallic scent of iron rich blood filled the air as Hez set to work. The smell alone seemed to stirr a frenzy of blood lust in the male making him appear to be more unhinged than previously thought.
After his fill.. after his work was done, he silenced the Elk's life force and began to tear chunks of flesh from the carcass, He was moving for the more delectable bits such as the heart and liver of the animal, crimson blood smearing over his pale fur as he tore into the Elk's corpse.

When she realized that Hez was moving in for the chase, Kali had taken her feral form and leapt into the trees where she could follow and watch without getting in his way. And oh, he had been magnificent! Ruthless, graceful, and without mercy. Kali had been unable to contain herself. As he sliced into the creature, she'd found herself laughing.
"It's like watching a skilled dance," she purred, stretching out on her branch as she watched him eat. "I rather think I enjoy watching you hunt, hairball."
