Slowing down to a paced gait, Adderstrike trotted to a stop. It being extremely bad for his joints to go from a full sprint to a stead walk. After a couple of seconds, he was able to stand there and hastily wait for his former apprentice. Hawkpath may be small but she was a quick one. Whatever she lacked in phsyical form she made up in attitude and the ability to show off and imporve her skills. That was what he liked the most about his former pupil. It still didn't seem like the she-cat was a full warrior. To Adderstrike it was still as if she was still his apprentice. Amazing how quick time flies and how quick cats grow. A good thing and sad thing at the same time. "So munchkin, what do you believe the quota sha'll be today?" It was always good to set a target number of prey to catch. Made you itch for it.

She calm to a stop next to Adderstrike looking at the tall grass opening her mouth to take in the scents of rabbits then looked to the older warrior. "Two rabbits each, prey is getting harder to find since bareleaf is coming.." She meowed looking back at the tall grass.

Two was a good enough number. Since it was indeed coming around to the time where their numbers low. Though, rabbits didn't have a system. They were always having babies. Then again it was good to let them re-populate without problem. Meant more food for the nect good season to hunt. Good enough and a good idea. "Perfect. Two hares. And if any ground squirrels they sha'll be extra." There was no need to count the grounded tree rodents. Withouth hesitation. Adderstrike silently padded forward, before lowering into a crouch already. Things were going to get killed. And he was going to like it. For it wasn't the killing he enjoyed. It was the chase. And the satisfaction of feeding the clan.

Sagewhisker sat outside the nursery, watching her two kits, Yewkit and Rosekit, wrestling each other. Yewkit had the obvious advantage, but he let his younger sister win yet another match. He was too nice of a brother. Sometimes the queen wondered why her son constantly allowed his sister to win. It certainly wouldn't build on her fighting skills if he allowed that to continue. "Rosekit, don't bite your brother's tail—ouch, too late." the queen sighed as she watched the she-kit clamp her tiny teeth down on her brother's tabby tail before he smacked the side of her head with his paw. It may have seemed rough to most cats, but she knew Yewkit could contain the power to placed behind his blows. "Ow!" "It's your fault for biting my tail." Yewkit mewed to his sister, licking the back of his paw before bringing it over his ear several times. Rosekit pouted and looked Sagewhisker, but the queen wasn't showing any sympathy for her kit. She should know by now that her brother was no-nonsense.

Adderstrike slowly lowered himself as to where his belly was just hovering above the ground. Tail flicking at the very tip showed just how anxious he was. Lips twitching, not able to wait to get a set of teeth into something to bring back to the clan. There were kits and queens to feed. And other members of course. Creeping forward with ease, spots and coat color made the tall tom blend in perfectly. Slowly, inch by inch, Adderstrike got closer. Now just a few feet away from an unsuspecting hare, he flew forward and almost pounced on it. The rodent flew to the side, as did the cat. Bounding quickly after it, the hare's hopped gait was nothing in match to the tom's lengthened strides. A paw slammed down on the rodent, holding it just long enough for fangs to sink into it's neck, silently thanking Starclan. There was one.
