"Um sure," he said before stepping back. Once he had some room, Jericho jumped into the air while beating down with his wings. Whenever he had enough altitude, he just stopped and started to flap his wings in place. Basically he was letting himself fall slightly between each flap before regaining the lift on the downbeats.

It wasn't the same. She took comfort in the difference. Furthermore, with each flap, the burst of air made Riley hover backwards each time. She waved her hands slightly. Okay, that's enough. Let's not blow me away now. I already said no leashes.
Of her own accord, she hovered back to him, though the effort to stop herself was much harder than the effort to begin moving had been.

Stopping with that, Jericho let himself drop back to the ground with a little thud. Straightening back up, he grinned lightly while watching her hover over towards him. She was getting the hang of it from what he could see!
"Getting used to controlling them?" he asked before taking a few steps back again, "Though, why did you ask me about the floating?"

I am getting some level of control, yes. Though each step will only lead to further difficulty, of course. This is to be expected. She turned left - compensated - stopped, and turned her head to give him a look.
I was just comparing your method of flying to mine. Completely different, of course, but the intricacies of how different is fascinating. I will likely ask for comparative views throughout our trials here.
The turn of her head caused her to lose balance, and she shuddered, tilting to the left. Her head snapped back forward to readjust, and she lifted herself another inch higher.
And then, of course, the time will come when I have no more need of these insufferable.. She let go of one of her bands, and came crashing to the ground after a severe tilt.

That, Jericho could understand. The methods they used for flight were pretty different, but as she said, it was fairly interesting to see what those differences were exactly. He was perfectly fine for doing comparative work as they moved along in progress.
"Yes, that'll be a goo--" he cringed a bit as she came crashing down, "Good day. And eventually there'll come a time where you can fly more than just a few inches off the ground without needing me to fetch you."
There was that devious grin again.

Riley sat up straight, staring at him indignantly. Oh. I'm sorry. Am I interrupting your busy schedule of being a prat to assist me? How unfortunate. She held out her arms childishly. Come fetch me then.

Staring at Riley for a moment, Jericho chuckled and shook his head before making his way over towards her to scoop her up. Yes. He didn't just help her to her feet. He just went on and picked her right up.
"And fetch you I will. I think that's enough for flight lessons for today, don't you think?" he asked.
He didn't wait for an answer as he just took off with her in his arms, into the sky.
