"Things we know. They said they treat their weapons as partners. Clarice, the human, said that if I was made into a weapon that I would be cared for. And praised often. So possible cooperative element. It might have been facetious, or only figuratively, but whatever the case. Possible. Other facts. The weapons glow. Heavy or large weapons are able to be handled beyond the human's physical capacity. Being hit by a weapon...well we both experienced that. Those cages functioned similarly. I couldn't feel my thorns. It took everything just to stay together. Prior to transformation, they did...something to Calder's cage. Weakened him to almost nothing. He was limp and didn't say much. You know him. And only then they put him in the chamber. He said...something about voices afterwards. Don't know if he was delirious or not. We can ask him more about it."
He thought, carefully, at this point not caring what picture the facts made, just that they had them.
"Any other observations?"

Christof scribbled quickly but carefully as Barth listed his notes, his own mind grasping at everything. He lowered the notebook, motioning slowly, "Chamber airtight? Possibly Feartight?"
This was... this was hopeless. They couldn't even turn to a Boogieman for their opinion or solid facts, and there wouldn't be any books on the matter...
If he could have snatched up one of those humans and just... crushed the information out of them...
"Master, how-are-we-supposed-to-do-this? Not-enough-Parts!"

"The device itself isn't the most important. What we need to understand is the theory. How Fear is changed. What binds them to that form. What can unbind them. The device itself is just...construction. We know that Fear can...change. Shapeshifters do it naturally. Witches have transformative spells."
Barth plucked his skullpin from his lapel, examining it.
"The school gives us access to temporary transformative magics. So if the device implemented a different kind of binding magic, and we could understand what was being used...but it's more than just a physical change. For them to...have the same effect as the cages."

"Don't-know-about-magic," Christof signed slowly and thoughtfully, but the more he mulled it over, the paler his face grew. "Humans-can-magic? Perhaps-some-breed-of-reaper?" Magic and the like was more the Demon's forte. Devices the Igor could handle. Curses were beyond him. But this certainly sounded like a possibility.

"Don't know, add that to the list. What kind of magic can humans do?" Barth tapped his claws on his knee, very gently, "With and without help."
