StormDawn And now I have absolutely no Idea what I want to do with Original Storm or Gwarn. 8/ I'm so cunfuzzled... I understand somewhat. I've been reading and re-reading and thinking "Okay, Evelyn could be doing this or that...but how does that affect her character in the long-run?"

Well, I want to take the old Storm out, But If I can write it in rather well and still not have him look like some jackass who just left, I'd preffer it. Honestly, I'd like for him to have been one of the ones holding the front gates before the temple falls.. And I really have no Idea what I'm doing for Gwarn. what with how everything revolves around planar travel, it allows A lot of things to be possible.

Okay guys, you might have noticed that the new thread is up! Everything isn't in there yet, but it's coming together slowly. I have to go for now though >< I have to get up today...
Have a read of the content and let me know if you spot any errors or if anything isnt clear. I tried to make it all as clear as possible but it's always difficult to know, since you know, what's too much detail for one person is not enough for another. But anyway, feel free to ask questions here or PM me or whatever.
Also, once you guys have finished your characters and made your new threads or updated your old ones, I'm gonna go ahead and approve them again just to be sure everything is in order. Just so you know. Get 'em up whenever you can ^^
EDIT: If you guys need help with your Talents, I have a couple of examples I can post for you - TRG has also come up with some good examples, and if all else fails Mab was the master who made literally like ten hundred thousand skills for sysv2, so he knows how to do it and could give pointers. 4laugh

And I'm back. Cleaned, stocked up on groceries, etc etc.. So if I wanted my character to be a Fighter/rogue and overall charming, How would I prescribe his talents? :/

Well, what sort of things do you want him to be good at? What kind of advantages do you think he'd have by his nature/specialities?
I cant give a more specific answer becaus ethis is a 100% personal thing

Well, more or less I wanted the Zorro Appeal... But he's not Spanish, nor does he use a whip or Rapier. He's supposed to be an excellent sneak, good with a sword, Can lock pick, and is somehow exceptional at blending in higher society settings. Very rough description here, and I'm open to suggestion

Here's an example of one of my character's Talents and things. Hopefully this will help. ^^
All I ask is that you guys don't copy this verbatim, because these are ones I'm actually going to use. Other than that, use these as a guide if you would like! =D
Forte's Talents and Levels of Expertise:
Expertise: Expert Musician/Composer Adept Spellcaster Beginner Cook (although she’s good at making desserts. 83)
Forte has 3 main talents: Virtuoso, Diplomatic Immunity, and Trivial Magic
Virtuoso: Forte is a master of keyboards. She is, in essence, a virtuoso with these types of instruments. Forte is also an Adept Spellcaster (see above) and is capable of using her musical skills in conjunction with her Spellcasting skills provided she can see an instrument with keys, or know there is one in the vicinity. The only things limiting this would be if the instrument is beyond her line of vision, or if she isn’t sure there’s one there. Otherwise, even if the instrument is 2,000 feet away (or whatever distance away) and she can see it or knows it’s there, she can still use it to her advantage. When attacking, she uses the music and her physical and Spellcasting abilities to bring down an enemy. This ability gives her immunity to sound-based attacks as well.
Diplomatic Immunity (SO HAMMAH YOU CAN’T SUE 8D): Forte is immune to virtually all illnesses. [There is a reason for this, but for spoiler reasons I have removed it.] Biological warfare, chemical warfare, anything of that nature will not affect her, no matter how many times an enemy may try. She is also immune to sound-based attacks, seeing as how she is a Virtuoso (see above). Forte is also immune to stupidity and superficiality, but that’s beside the point. As she gets stronger, she may find she’s immune to other things as well.
Trivial Magic: Forte can use her magic to do silly little things as well, such as playing a piano from afar when she’s sitting and playing the organ (or vice versa), enabling her to play both at the same time, putting a spell on someone’s hair so that no matter how much it’s messed with it won’t look right, doing multiple things in the kitchen, making things disappear and reappear, things of that nature. When combining little trivial things, and even combining them with her other abilities, she becomes quite a formidable opponent. (Think of: they see me trollin’, they hatin’…8D)
Note that I chose this formatting style (i.e. Talents, Levels of Expertise) to make things simpler to understand. This is just my preference, so don't think you HAVE to do it like this.

Thanks for posting those TRG! I would like to point out that new characters (even if they're made by you oldbies) usually wouldnt be able to have an Expert proficiency, but it fits Forte's character and I don't see how it could be used unfairly against other people, so it's definitely allowed ^^
And Talents don't HAVE to be in-depth. One of Cressa's is called Etherwork, and the only description it has is that it covers her capabilities with a wide variety of magic because of he rmagic being based on energy manipulation and all. One of Lorika's, Resurrection, just states that it's capable of resurrecting someone when used within a few hours of death. One of Jessie's, however, is more complex by necessity - he has a couple of detailed ones actually, just because their nature is to be used in battle and I wanted them to be as complete and fair as possible. Like if you're giving yourself a roll bonus, give yourself a negative, or at least situations where it doesnt apply, so that your character doesnt become overpowered.
(There's a game called Project Zomboid where you have to pick a TON of negative traits for your character just to be able to pick one really useful one, which is an interesting way of doing things. It can really handicap things if you arent careful though)
As for your new chara, Storm - How about a talent that covers stealth and lockpicking? And then one that covers any intimidation/persuasive quality? be careful with that, though, because no matter how persuasive your character is you cant FORCE people to do what you want, you know? Anyway, just do your best, post what you come up with and we can always help you out ^^

@Lorika: No problem! ^^
One thing I would recommend though, based on my personal experience as I wrote Forte's Talents, would be to come up with what I called the Levels of Expertise BEFORE attempting to make Talents. I found this easier because now you have something to go off of instead of just coming up with things off the top of your head. Although I must admit, I did a lot of that too. XD
I don't know if this will help, but that's just what I did. smile
