Mical watched the last of the deer run away before turning to look at the frightened kit. "I'll carry it." He frowned at the way that Vic was shaking. It was more then being afraid. He looked horrified. Mic cursed himself for being so stupid. Of course the little one hadn't been ready to make his first kill.
"It might not help you Vic....but it's the cycle of life....We're meat eaters...and means your going to have to get used to killing animals. It's tragic yes...having to survive by killing another creature, but it is necessary...just like it is necessary for bigger creatures to want to kill and eat us. There isn't a creature on Earth that isn't both a predator and prey. Everything balancing out." He nudged the kit. "You didn't do anything wrong Vic."

Vic moved closer to Mic and looked up at him, eyes watering. How could he have not done anything wrong? Vic didn't care that there was animals out there that would want to eat him. He felt like he had just killed himself by killing the fawn. But....Mic was counting on him. He had to buck up.
Vic sniffed and shook himself off before nodding. "A-Alright." He tried to give Mic a small smile. "I-I'll be okay after the next one." He would too, even if he had to force himself too.

"It's okay to cry little one." Mical nuzzled him gently. "There is nothing wrong in that." He picked the kit up and hugged him tightly, before setting him on his back. "You're my brave little Vic. And I'm proud of you no matter what. Even if you never want to go hunting again. I will carry that burden if you want me too." He smiled back at the kit. "All you have to do is say the word and I won't take you again, alright? You have choices."
Then then picked the fawn up in his teeth and started walking back to the den so that they could eat their meal in peace.

-Time Skip-
Vic prowled through the flowers that Mic had taken him hunting his very first time. Now though, instead of the flowers being taller than he was, if he didn't drag his belly on the ground, his prey would see him. Never mind that his fur still were the colors of the flowers. It would seem odd to see a flower with pointed ears and a bushy tail stalking around.
How long had it been since Mical took him in? Vic never kept count of the days. Every day was a new adventure with the older fox. There was just too much fun. Too much learning, both on how to survive and about the brown fox.
That first time learning how to hunt wasn't the last time Mical showed kindness and understanding of the kit. He didn't even make fun of Vic when he had fallen asleep on his back when they were making their way back to the den. But like he had vowed, Vic got over killing. He stopped thinking of the prey as someone's family, and started thinking of them as a way to help Mic out.
Which was what he was doing now actually. Vic was out hunting for Mic's breakfast. Vic grinned as he thought about surprising Mic with fresh kill before he woke up.

Mical moaned softly as he rolled over in his sleep, kicking his feet out in front of him. A goofy smile settled over his face as he snuggled into his bed. It was a good life. Vic had kept him company, been his friend and kept the loneliness away. They had gotten closer as Vic grew up, and Mical hoped that he had been able to convince the little guy that he wasn't ugly, and in fact had grow into being one of the most beautiful males he had ever laid eyes on.
Ashamed to admit it, Mical had grown attracted to the adult. He wasn't sure if he should find that sick about himself. Afterall he had raised the boy from kithood, wasn't wrong to be attracted to him now?

With a gleeful yip, something he still did even though he was no longer a kit, Vic chased after one of the older males, but not so old he had his antlers yet. With a leap in the air, Vic landed on the deer's back and tore at his throat. Quickly he looked around to see if any of the other deer were wanting to attack him, having learned early on that they tended to...sometimes. But he and Mic's breakfast were alone.
Picking up a leg in his mouth, Vic started dragging his prize back to the den. How proud Mic might be. Unless...Vic slowed slightly. Why was he still wanting Mic to be proud of him? He wasn't a kit anymore...And then there was this odd feeling anytime Vic was around Mic anymore. Never had his heart beat so fast around the older male. He had been raised as Mic's son. Vic always thought it was an adult thing, the rush of adrenaline as he grew up.
But what if it wasn't? Why was he still trying to prove himself to Mic? Vic shook his head. He'd have to worry and think about it later. Mic might be waking up soon and would want breakfast. With that thought in mind, Vic picked up his pace.

Rolling onto his back, feet flailing in the air, Mical moaned as he opened his eyes. His lips smacked together as he calmly looked around the den. "Vic?" His voice came out husky. Clearing his throat he tried again, "Vic?" This time his voice came out stronger, louder. But there was no answer to his call.
"Hm...Kid must have gone out." He rolled back over onto his side and yawned greatly as he stood up and shook the feathers from his fur.
Suddenly there was the sound of someone approaching and Mical walked to the head of the cave and poked his head out. "Holy s**t!" He eyed the young buck that Vic was dragging along. Vic had gone hunting! Without him! A sudden dread overcame him. What if he had been hurt?! What if a poacher had found him and taken him?!
Mical never would have forgiven himself if something happened to Vic.

Oh? Mic was already up? Oh well. Vic walked up to Mic and deposited the prize. "Morning Mic!" Vic sat down in front of the other fox, tail wagging. "Sleep well? Ready for some breakfast?"
Victorino tilted his head slightly. "Is...something wrong?" Was the look on Mical's face simply because he had just woken up? Or did Vic do something wrong? Should he had notified Mic that he was leaving? No. Vic wasn't a kit anymore. He could come and go as he pleased right? And by waking Mic up he'd have ruined the surprise.

Taking a deep breath, Mical got his emotions under control. Vic was an adult now. Mical had a hard time remembering that he didn't need him as much anymore, in fact hardly at all anymore. It was that distinction that made his heart ache. Soon Vic would talk of leaving, and Mical didn't think he could survive living without the male.
"Hm? What...of course not." He laughed, "I was just surprised is all....Holy s**t look what you caught!" He gushed, "God you're a better hunter then I am now." Mical beamed as he wrapped his paws around the other male and hugged him tightly, "I am so damn proud of you Vic."

Vic beamed but shook his head. "No one's a better hunter than you are Mic." Mic had praised him! And said he was proud! Just what Vic always wanted. So why did it seem so empty when Mic hugged him?
Was Vic thinking too much into the praise and hug? That Mic only saw him as a kit still and was being fatherly like he always was? Vic sighed but wrapped his paws around Mical as well. His head was hurting from trying to sort out everything, about what he felt, and about trying to see any hidden meaning anything Mic said or did. He pulled away slightly and looked at Mic. "Ready for breakfast?"

"I'm not that good." He chuckled as he nuzzled the younger male's neck affectionately. "Right....I am starving." He grinned as he leaned int and took a big bite out of the meat. It was so tender it nearly melted in his mouth. "Mmmm.....good choice Vic." He grinned, "The best meat we've had in a long time."
The older male leaned over and licked the smaller adult's cheek, winking at him mischievously.

The best? Surely not. Vic laughed at Mical's compliments. Sometimes with Mic, Vic wasn't sure if he was serious or not. He liked complimenting a lot on things, liked making pet names, saying cute things.
Vic's face flushed as Mical licked him. Did he have something on his cheek? Some blood perhaps? Surely Mic was simply licking it off like he used to do when Vic was a kit. "M-Miiic~! W-was there something on my cheek? Y-You could have told me you know. I-I'm not a kit who needs help with bathing you know." As much as Vic complained about the pet names or instances like this, honestly, Vic loved when Mical did that. It made him feel special.

Mical chuckled, "You didn't have anything on your cheek. I just wanted to give you a kiss. Is that such a horrible thing?" He winked at the younger male as he went back to munching on the meal in front of him. he couldn't help loving Vic. He knew it was wrong since he was practically like his dad, and no doubt the kid would freak out.
But he did. He loved Vic with all his heart.
"Come on and eat Viki." He smirked at the girly nickname.

A kiss? Not cleaning something off his face, but a kiss? What kind of kiss was it? What was the meaning? Was it a simple thank you one? Was it a fatherly one showing how proud he was? Or, what Vic wanted most, was it a kiss of love, a kiss of a future mate?
Yes. That's what Vic wanted most. What had been giving him a headache just thinking about it. What made his heart beat fast everytime he was around the other male. Vic didn't want to be seen anymore as just a pup in Mical's eyes. He wanted to be more than that.
But did Mical want that? Should Vic even voice the thought? There was always the possiblity that Mical would be grossed out by the thought and leave him. No...It was best to be quiet, for now. And so, wrapped up in his thoughts, Vic could only say a simple "Okay" to Mic's suggestion to eat before he did so, not even realizing that Mic had come up with yet another nickname for him.

Vic seemed to be pondering a lot lately, and he was starting to wonder why. Was he finally cluing into the fact that Mical had feelings for him? The thought made him panic slightly. What if he did realize it and thought that Mical was being a dirty, old lecher. Being rejected would be the most painful experience for the male.
Sighing, he ate until his stomach was satisfied then walked off a little and laid down in the shade watching the younger male. What was he going to do about these feelings inside him? If he kept quiet Vic might find someone else, but but if he spoke up he might scare him away.
