"I'll watch her" Zephyr promised to the senshi of summer. Zephyr rather liked Chronos after all.

But as Chronos called out worriedly to the civilians, Zephyr didn't really see what was wrong. Putting a hand on her shoulder to reassure her, he spoke, "Why not let them continue? It seems to be pretty fun anyways~" Especially Hawke's reaction, Zephyr found himself turning away to laugh into his hand. He couldn't stop grinning, his humor well-restored in this situation. He hadn't encountered a person like her yet. "Besides, we have a white knight and several other senshi or knights to intervene if the situation becomes serious." From his slightly mocking tone, Zephyr evidently didn't find anything to like about the white knight.

Some might listen to the urgent princess's worries. Others would not. But Zephyr was beginning to like a few of these civilians. Not all of them, but a few of them.

But other than that, he also took note of Babylon, Valhalla, Grus, and Ganymede not yet knowing them as senshi. It might have been advantageous to make their acquaintance later when this battle was over.

1. Valhalla
2. Ganymede
3. Grus
4. Zephyr
5. Ryugu-jo
6. Babylon
7. Chronos
8. Flora

The moment the giant spider lurched into the upper area, Virgo followed. If the civilians didn't obey her and stay below, that would have to be their own problem; she couldn't protect them the way she could the senshi and knights that had come along, too. There were a decent amount, too many for her to protect all at once. Without knowing how long this battle would take, trying to protect as many as she could would just be stupid. How would it help to take more damage in the beginning and leave other vulnerable for later? This spider had to be strong to be in the Surrounding...

She gathered her veil into her hands, balled it up and then tossed it high overhead. For a single moment, it floated there before beginning to spread out much wider than it should really be able to. As it descended, it turned from fabric to light, and settled over three Order-side players, protecting them from all harm.

"Senshi and Knights," she cried, "concentrate your energy on destroying this youma! The sooner it's gone, the sooner the civilians will be safe!"

Ganymede, Chronos and Flora are now impervious to all damage until next turn.

The idea of going to space was, essentially, repugnant to him. He didn't want to be there, but after the encounter with Tanzanite's... human?... form, he didn't see any way to avoid anyone's wrath but to do exactly as ordered. He would much rather just fade into the background of the Negaverse again than deal with that whole ordeal even one more time. If that meant trusting (or pretending to trust) the Dark Mirror Court, that was what he would do. If it meant going to space and lending his powers to the youma they would be controlling, he would do that to.

As long as he got them back in the end, he supposed.

Spinel nodded to Fluorite as they stepped out onto the shattered surface of Alkaid. This place... Was it the fate of whatever planet was his? Somewhere out there was a world of his own, he knew, and he instinctively knew he didn't want to see it shattered like this. He'd much rather just stay put on Earth as a substandard member of the Negaverse (and didn't that grate, to be less trusted and more reviled than a group of torturers and murderers) than hand over his homeworld to Chaos, to something like this.

(He hadn't doubted before. It was annoying to be doubting now, when it was unnecessary and completely useless. If he were honest with himself, and he almost never was, he would admit it was a little bit frightening, too. Weren't you supposed to feel more righteous in the Negaverse as you moved up the ranks?)

He watched impassively as the energy orbs broke against the crystals they were using to 'pilot' the youma to the Surrounding. Spinel had a vague idea of how much energy it took, and a vaguer idea of how that would affect the lives of the people it'd been drained from. Life would be so much simpler if he could just be one of them, he thought, watching the spider-youma stagger around drunkenly before abruptly disappearing. "Let me know when you need me," he said; he had only the vaguest of ideas as to how to channel his powers through the youma.

The senshi were gathering, but... the civilians were unsuspected. Really. Why werent they powering up ? Did they somehow... know ? No, that was impossible.

But there was no other choice. If they insisted to fight, it couldn't be avoided. "Okay, I got a bunch of them closeby. Go !"

Orders given, Spinel plucked the second largest of his bells from the bandolier; ringing it three times (forward, backward, then in a figure-eight) he incanted his first stage attack. If there really were civilians, they had brought this upon themselves.

Still... he couldn't quite stop the guilt from coloring his expression. It was a good thing Fluorite couldn't see him.

As civilians, senshi, and knights alike flooded the space that had once been Virgo's bedroom, the spider struck out at them; it demolished a divan, and in the act of staggering backwards from the backlash, collapsed an altar--whatever was back there seemed to be pretty well hidden now! The projectiles slamming into it didn't seem to do all that much damage, only opening a gash on its arms.

Then, oddly, it went completely still...

The youma has used one of its magic attacks! You must roll a d6 to find out how well your character stands against its power.

1, 2 = You protect yourself from the spider's attack! You can still move, but it's tough going. Take no damage.
3, 4 = You try to protect yourself, but it's not quite enough. You're knocked back and can not move this turn, but at least you don't hit anything. Take damage equal to your roll.
5, 6 = You couldn't protect yourself in time! You're slammed into one of the decorative columns and take damage equal to your roll.

If you're one of the ones being protected by Virgo, you still must roll, just don't subtract damage from your total.

Civilians have 10HP. Senshi/Knights have 20HP. The youma's HP will be announced next turn!

(First roll Babylon, Second roll Keren)

Babylon swung his lantern, but was knocked off balance by the youma's attack. He had to take a few hasty steps back to recover both his footing and his breath, and feeling steady on his feet meant not being able to strike. He was out of range and had missed his chance to fight-

"Easier said than done!" he called to Virgo, adjusting his grip on his lantern. Next time he'd hit it for sure!

17 HP

Keren was honestly really, really disappointed that the giant spider hadn't taken her orders to get bent. It had worked on the hand-crab! Well, a lot of things had worked on the hand crab but apparently this was an altogether different beastie. <******** this s**t," she groaned, reaching for another rock. Before she could wrap her fingers around it, though, she was hit with some unseen force which knocked her onto her back. Keren rolled over and forced herself to her feet, biting back a cry of pain.

She'd taken worse hits in basketball, hadn't she? It was just an elbow to the diaphragm.

As the spider attacked, Raven stared and stumbled back a few steps.

What the hell? Since when did Spiders get that...Powerful?

She needed some serious bug spray. Glancing around, she noticed that a lot of people were a lot worse off than she was. Huh. For once she lucked out with getting hurt...

She had to admit, she was pleased with this fact.

But, as a mental note, the blonde thought about getting lots of bug spray when she got home...a huge bottle.

Eliza looked up at when Fritz spoke squeezing her wrist. She gave a resolute nod, to say she would be careful. Whether or not she would get into trouble remained to be seen as they were up against a giant spider in a bedroom.

When Fritz moved forward so did Eliza wanting to her close enough to the spider to give it a good lashing with her belt, watching as the thing was pelted with rumble. She wasn't close enough to whip it, so she bent down quickly to toss a rock at it as the other's were doing, but the youma went still.

And then the spider attacked them with some sort of magic and Eliza had to jump to avoid being knocked off her feet, calling out to Fritz as she did so, "Watch out!"

Jett was usually pretty on the ball. Pretty aware of what was going on. He’d been staring at the spider-and the scouts—and by the time the youma used it’s magic, he wasn’t exactly in the right mind frame to be deflecting a blow already. He jerked his arm up to shield his face, but it didn’t stop him from getting hit; he stumbled backwards in a burst of pain and his vision wavered. He didn’t fall but was a bit disoriented as he shook his head and tried to come to his senses. Doing a quick assessment, Jett determined that it didn’t seem like he had any lacerations or anything of the like, but damn, that wasn’t something he wanted to experience again. The fresh pain had made him a bit more alert but he was already questioning his choice in coming up to see what was going on.

There was a volley of items overhead as more civilians joined the battle. The senshi were oddly still, preferring to throw objects themselves rather than magic attacks. Grus wasn't sure how well her attack would fare, so instead she threw a piece or rubble that the the spider had created with it's thrashing about. It didn't do much, and the spider still thrashed about angrily.

There were three people under a veil that Virgo had thrown, she pressed them from her mind, focusing on the ones that weren't so lucky. Then the spider went still...

Grus felt the magic before it registered in her brain what was happening. She felt as if she were wading through jello. Her body took longer to respond to movement commands than usual. She seemed to be faring batter than others. Some were flung back against walls and looked hurt.

"Be careful guys!" She said, trying to raise her arms to throw another rock "We're not dealing with a normal youma here!"

Valhalla grimaced at Ganymede's playful jab, not thinking it was the best time to make fun of him. He just didn't like spiders, okay? He liked legs, yeah, but not that many legs. It was creepy. He also wasn't that thrilled about Babylon's comment. Only support magic, huh? Great. Well, at least he had something to actually hit the thing with.

It was going to take all of them to get rid of this youma, he already knew that, but it was going to be even more difficult with these civilians running around and getting themselves into trouble. No, he didn't think they were helpless, but they also didn't get the same advantages that the senshi and knights had. "We need to keep the civilians out of the way," he mumbled to himself, before glancing around to see who else was there. He caught sight of Flora, another Zodiac senshi that he'd met once before, and a few others with her — a couple senshi and a knight. At least they weren't alone in this. Chronos was asking the civilians to let the senshi and knights take care of things, and he couldn't help but agree. Keeping innocent people out of the line of fire was important.

He wasn't expecting the magic attack. He was too busy counting how many civilians were interspersed through the powered, wanting to make sure no one was going to end up missing later. Being blown back was no fun. In fact, this was the first youma he'd been up against with the power to actually throw several people back at once. Even the monsters at the camp didn't have that amount of power.

Valhalla all but crumpled to the ground after hitting the column, but after a moment of being dazed, he quickly scrambled back to his feet, his arms now up in defense, not about to be caught off guard again. "s**t, it's got magic, too?" he growled, his eyes now narrowed on the youma. He was going to have quite a few bruises on his back after a hit like that...

"Are you all okay??" he called over to the others, before reaching a hand out to Keren, who had been knocked back just a few feet away from him. He eyed the rock she'd been reaching for when he'd been counting everyone, nodding lightly to her. "Make sure you wind all the way back to get the most power," he suggested, showing her by putting his arm behing him and then following through in a mock throw.

They were going to need all the help they can get.

"Youma" apparently meant "GIANT ******** SPIDER" in some language, and once you had that translation, it pretty much didn't matter what language, because it was fairly transparent that "G.F.S" was bad news. Really bad news....

... and as best as Holi Jones could tell, also came with what she decided to dub the 'field of insanity', as instead of taking the course that she considered logical, which was staying back, a large number of civilians thundered forward as though they expected to transform as they burst through the opening along with the Senshi.

So much, she supposed, for being the second line of defense instead of the first line of Spider Food, though she supposed, based on the chaos when they'd first arrived, even if she'd shouted orders, the best she would have gotten was a few giggles before everyone did exactly what they wanted anyway.

Holi, for her part, having not had the time yet to recover from her injury at Ananke, decided that discretion was the better part of valor. She'd seen first hand the power of the Senshi, and if anything crawled down here after that, she expected it to -then- be bleeding and twitching to the extent that even injured civilians could handle it, though if it did manage to get down here, the Senshi themselves would probably be in need of help. Most of them didn't have armor like Haephestus had.

Zephyr, despite having wanted to watch, was flung back by the damage from Chronos's side crashing through a decorated column and the wall behind it. The strength of the blast had created a circular impact -- not yet breaking the wall but Zephyr seemed to be barely standing, half-leaning against the wall nearly unconscious.

His fingers twitched and Zephyr realized his mistake. "...Hell." Coughing into his palm, the blood staining his black glove, Zephyr realized that he would have to get involved. If only to crush that damn insect.

"Perhaps I'll help you after all." Hitting his fist into his other palm, he had decided.

(First roll for Flora, second for Chronos~)

"They shouldn't get hurt." Chronos said in reply to Zephyr with a slight frown. She couldn't help but worry that something would happen, like having more of the missing civilians go unaccounted for. While it was true that there was rubble around to defend themselves, it had been the same situation at the Temple, but one of them had still gotten hurt. She felt rather guilty that they had to be dragged into the dangers of the Surrounding.

Light settled over both the Handmaiden and the Princess. Despite the protection, Flora was knocked back, gasping as she glanced back at Chronos to make sure she was alright. Thankfully, the Princess had managed to protect herself and gave her a nod back in return.

... And then her gaze drifted over to the man who was supposed to be by her Princess' side and froze. "Hey! Are you alright, Zephyr?" She gasped as she tried to steady herself from the unseen force.

"That's... rather odd." Chronos muttered under her breath as she moved back to hover around Zephyr worriedly. "Are you sure you're okay?" At the very least, they were in Virgo's Outpost, so it would be easier to heal them all up later.

Hawke had no idea fade spiders could cast magic. More then that, she had no idea that it was like a jedi force push and could ******** people's s**t up. What was this, some kind of blood mage spider? Goddamn that would suck. Next she'd have to start trying to protect her mind. Not that there was much to protect given her thoughts were wrapped around curse words and thinking of how to 'shank this b***h'.
Shank it with marble or her fist. Granted it would be hitting it not shanking but Hawke thought she was pretty inventive, she'd figure something out. Still, senshi and knights and people were getting tossed like rag dolls. It was awesome. And by awesome she meant ******** nuts and space sucked.

Screw you 5 year old astronaut self, teen self said space was balls and you'd be better of trying to be the damn president. Or at least a Governess. That would be cool too. All these thoughts hit Hawke faster then she could fully comprehend them. So auto pilot was activated and Hawke just yelled more curse words. At least she didn't get thrown into s**t.
"The ******** was that s**t?" she looked at the fallen senshi, Zypher. "Oh ******** man, you got-" He got hit damn hard. "Uh, don't die. "

Hawke gave excellent advice.

Instinctively, Fritz stepped backwards, one arm automatically going up to cover his head from the falling debris, the other shooting out in a protective gesture in front of Eliza. The enormous spider hadn't done much - destroyed what had looked like an altar, crushing something that had maybe once been a couch. Piles of splintered wood and marble were strewn across the floor, and Fritz brushed dust and dirt from his hair. He swung the marble bat as hard as he could, feeling it thwack against the side of the monstrous creature. He could feel the reverberation all the way up and down his arm.

"Thanks for the warning," came the low murmured voice, Fritz casting a grateful look back at Eliza.

Except he was not paying close enough attention.

It felt as if something huge and heavy had slammed into his midsection. Knocked backwards, off of his feet, Fritz slammed back into the wall, his head cracking against the marble.

It hurt - it definitely hurt, and he gave a gasp for air, completely and utterly winded. There was something trickling down the back of his neck, and when he reached up to touch it, he could feel something sticky, his fingers coming away red.

"That...doesn't look good," Fritz mumbled, sliding down the wall, his legs feeling suddenly weak.

Pathetic, went his mind. One hit, and you're already down? How weak ARE you?

"Not hardly," Fritz grumbled irritatedly, and attempted to climb to his feet again.
