Calixte leaned into his neck as he hugged her, closing her eyes for a moment and taking a deep breath. Kenton's scent filled her nose, reminding her heavily of home - and not home as in Greece, home as in wherever he was. Nodding, eyes still closed, she replied, "If this gets infected, we'll be in for a nightmare, so I'll need help cleaning it, if you don't mind? You are the one with the experience, after all." Opening her eyes, she looked inquiringly up at him. "And I can take care of En, if you're willing to teach me, since you'll be busy."
Her head bobbed a bit as Kenton nudged his muzzle gently against her cheek, and Cali followed him to where she could see the distant forms of Tinuviel, Enaran, and Oke.
I think that Kenton and Cali should have maybe one more set of posts before the kids come back. :3

"Fighting infection is easy. simply find a leaf that is oval and smells sweet but tastes bitter. chew it up and pack it into the wound. it will get dirt out and it will seal the wound so that it closes quicker. it will sting but it is worth it." Kenton could not help but feel a little sorry for pour En, because it would sting a lot and the boy has already been through so much. it was his fault, but there still was not time to dwell on that, action needed to be taken, but he could stand here for a bit longer with his mate. She needed him as much as he needed her. "Cali, im sorry i did not get there sooner."

Cali nodded as Kenton spoke, internalizing the information. A leaf, was it? That sounded easy enough. "Good, I'm glad there's something out there to help. We should have the Gatherers start to stockpile that if they don't already, maybe even start growing it ourselves..." At Kenton's next words, however, Cali looked up sharply at her mate. "I'm sorry I didn't get there sooner, as well, but Tin was doing an excellent job of bringing attention to herself. If she hadn't been screaming like that, I have half a mind to think I might not have found her in time. Anyway," she continued, trying to catch his eye. "If I catch you blaming yourself for this, I'll kick you." Nudging one of his hooves gently with one of her own to prove her point, Cali gave him a little smile. "We told them right before they left. We couldn't have done anything else - I mean, honestly, what were we going to do, forbid them from going into the forest? It's always been safe in there before, and you know Enaran would follow a butterfly in there or something, and Tin would follow him." Sighing, Cali leaned her cheek against his neck briefly. "They'll be fine, in the long run."
As she watched her children play in the distance of the sun-soaked herdlands, Cali knew it would only be a matter of time before they were grown up enough to defend themselves. In fact, if those purewalkers hadn't had the advantage of size today, Cali was sure they would have been able to defend themselves. Leaning a bit more on Kenton, she said, "Let's get back," and set off to attend to her duties. Or at least, she would, after she slept and cleaned her wound, most likely with Oke's help...Hm... Do you want to post and then call it good? XD Then we can move onto the plot with the purewalkers and the new babies?

Kenton Supported Cali's weight as he too watched the children off in the distance. even though They did not come from his own seed, he still loved them as if they were his own. he had raised them from baskets and he had helped teach and train them. they were his children and he had never felt more certain of this than today. if anything had happened to them then...well he could could not even imagine it. the sorrow that it would have brought, the deep loss that would be left in his heart. it was odd how attached he was to the two little foals that were off playing in the distance. he had had children before, but it never felt like this. being a parent did not mean that you helped bring life into the world, no being a parent meant that you helped new life learn how to survive in the world and you never really knew if you accomplished parenthood until it was time to let your children go. one day he would have to let those two go, but not today. today Kenton needed to be a parent. today hie children needed him to comfort them and to chase the nightmares away. Today there was work to be done.
"I guess your right, we have taught them, now it is their turn to apply what they have learned." Kenton gave Cali one more brief kiss on her head then turned and headed off to alert the patrol. he would make these lands safe for all those under his protection. it was his duty, but it was more than that, he did it because he loved those under his protection. he did it for his mate, but most of all he did it for his children.
