She turned around, gave him her back, and looked away.
All right. We can try that. She mumbled non-committally. Go grab the rope and tie it for me, see if it looks good.

Feeling that things were still a little off, Jericho let out a sigh before grabbing the needed materials and preparing them. Once he had the ropes tied correctly, he went on and attached them to both wings.
"Alright... that should do," he said while stepping back to see if the slings would stay this time around. If not, he'd have to try tightening the ropes first.

When Riley turned to face him, the slings grew taut, and she could feel the strain. They would stay, and the only question left was.. would they work in the air.
She wrapped her hands underneath the resistance bands, and tugged her rigid wings forward.
All right. Now what?

"Now we go test this in action," Jericho nodded with a slight grin. He reached out for Riley's arm to start tugging her back outside. In the back of his mind, he was trying to figure out what he could say that might make her feel better. The dragon did not want her to be feeling poorly, especially because of something he had brought up.
Pausing for the moment, he looked back towards her.
"Look.. whatever happens, you can always count on me. I will support you, no matter what."

Riley let him tug her outside, barely making a fuss, but once he paused to turn around, she looked like she was going to tantrum any second. Only..
Jericho's words made her expression cringe with emotion, and her eyes half-lidded to keep from any dangerous wetness from leaking. She nodded, swiftly, in hopes he wouldn't see.
You'd better. A scratchy voice responded, before trying to push him back around to keep walking. Because I won't make it without you.

Looking over at Riley as he picked up on something from her, Jericho's brow furrowed. The words she said and the way she said it tugged at his draconic heartstrings. Though she tried to push him back, he remained steady, and instead, he placed his arm around her shoulder to pull her closer as they walked along.
He didn't really have anything to say, or even really know what to say, but he felt a need to so something. Perhaps he didn't even really have to put it into words.
Once they were back in the clearing, he let go and stepped back to give her some space.
"Alright. Ready?"

Jericho always knew when not to speak. This was exactly one of those times. She leaned against him as they walked, but when he pulled away, she was ready to try something she never thought she would catch herself doing in her entire life.
Her hands slid into the bands again, and this time her feet slid into the ones attached to her lower wings. They slid up to her knee, and she pulled them taut.
No. She snapped in a sarcastic reply, and, her face lifted with amusement, she pulled the holds while filling her wings with psionic energy.
They glowed and hummed with power. They shimmered, and the membrane holding the crystals together glistened majestically in the afterglow. They pulled upward, hovering an inch higher.. and..
Riley faceplanted into the floor as soon as she had lost the ground.
Well that didn't work.

Jericho watched with anticipation, waiting to see how this would go. He wasn't expecting anything grand. It was her first attempt after all! There was also something great about seeing her fill those wings with her power, forcing her to hover on up.
... only to faceplant into the ground.
Cringing, he crouched down by her.
"Well.. gotta fall before flying," He said, "Come on, up you go. Can't give up here!"

Riley let go of the handholds, pushed herself up, brushed her face off, and narrowed her eyes. She took a step to close the distance between her and Jericho, glaring flatly at him. There was a heavy moment of silence, and then..
She poked him right in the stomach, backed up, and took her handholds again.
Might as well have taken me up on the roof and thrown me, she grumbled under her breath, before trying again. This time, she stood close, so that when she leaned forward and threatened to fall, Jericho could stop her.
She hovered, just an inch, but it was clear her body was trying to turn horizontal again.
Weight distribution is going to be an issue.

Chuckling as she poked him in the stomach, he grinned a little slyly before standing by in case she started to topple over again. Jericho kept his hands up, ready to try and steady her as she started to rotate once more.
"Hm... Is there a way for you to distribute power unevenly? Less power in the upper wings and a little more in the lower ones? That might help... Maybe.." he mused while trying to think on the issue. Come to think of it, being able to control different sections of the wings could help with her maneuverability as well, especially since the range of motion in the wings weren't as great as his own or that of a bird's.

Yeah. It's just going to require some trial and error. Hold me steady while I figure this out.
She was still hovering, only an inch above the ground, but all of her weight was resting on Jericho. The top wings flared up brightly, and she threatened to flip backwards if he didn't have a solid hold on her. Then it was just a matter of ebb and flow, changing the distribution in increments, until finally, it felt like she was floating with only a small tilt back and forth.
Almost got it.. Try letting me go.

Nodding, Jericho grinned lightly as he reached out to hold onto Riley. He wanted to make sure she wouldn't end up flipping over as she adjusted her power levels. As he held her in place, he could sort of feel slight shifts in her weight while she worked on getting a good flow of psionic energy into her wings.
"Alright," he said before slowly releasing her. The dragon stayed close, just in case he had to catch her again.

She tilted forward, then she veered back, but the movements were slight enough to have corrections as they occurred, and suddenly, without really noticing it..
Riley was floating an inch above the ground.
Fantastic. She murmured. So if I ever have something on a top shelf out of reach, now I have a way of getting it.
Sarcasm was her weapon of choice today, and that did not look like it was going to change anytime soon.

It seemed that for now, Riley had a good grasp of holding herself steady. Even if she was just floating an inch above the ground, it was still something! Little by little.
"That you do. And eventually if you ever have something on the roof, you'll be able to do the same," he grinned, countering her sarcasm with optimism and encouragement.
"So... try moving forward now. Or maybe even a little higher."

All right. There edged just a hint of optimism in her voice, as she said it.
It was quickly dashed.
As she moved forward, she managed just enough time to look at him with a gentle expression, before her lower wings were given too much power, and she flipped in mid-air twice, and ended up hovering in mid-air; upside down.
She stared at Jericho's feet and sighed sharply.
And then, as if her pride wasn't already injured enough, her skirt inverted until it covered her face.
All in all, this was a great day.
