Jesus, why.

Does anyone know this word?
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia.
I have a few friends who remember it by heart and can say it out loud quickly, one can even say it again and again.

The funny thing is, it means "fear of long words".

"Sir, it appears you suffer from hippopotomons..." "Ah!!"

And I'm sure somebody made it up as a joke wink

Like Paracetamoxyfrusebendroneomycin, which is a song by some people calling themselves the Amateur Transplants

I adore the dude who came up with that idea. He was probably some sort of a very bored psychologist / psychiatrist who loved Greek and hated people.

This isn't a joke, by the way.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

He could had called it sesquipedalianophobia, which is still long but not as long, but he really felt like laughing at someone.

I once owned an English dictionary that didn't have the word "turtle" in it!

Turtle!

Acido acetilsalicilico. It's the aspirin's active principle; I like the sound of it razz
eek I found "princisbecco" in my eng-ita dictionary: it's a metal, I think (pinchbeck), but what made me laugh is that it's used as a metaphore (in the dictionary's opinion!) "restare di princisbecco" would mean "to be taken aback" rolleyes Maybe it was used in the 19th century domokun

'Remourir' -- to die again. gonk
How would one succeed in dying twice? Wouldn't once be enough?

Does it count that I recently found out that one of my two last names was one 'e' away from an informal word for 'testicles'?

I used "Remourir" as a title for one of my songs. I never thought of it as actually dying twice, buy maybe being hurt bad twice. Like, you fall in love, and you lose that love... and then that love returns, and you end up losing it again.

My cousin's name is "Mara", which is Japanese slang for "big p***s". Of course, her parents didn't know that, and they sent her off to live with our grandparents in Japan. sweatdrop

We call her Masa now. 3nodding

I make up funny Japanese phrases, just because I can.

"Kudaranai shiro karai!" = "Salty nonsense!"
"Doko de iinzoo o karirare masu ka?" = "Where can I rent a kidney?"
"Gee baa wa, arimasu ka. Ii seki o onegai shimasu." = "Is there a gay bar? I'd like a good table." (My favourite... I just think it's fun to say.)
"Wafu ga totemo suki desu." = "I really like waffles."
"homo wa mimasu ka. Kore wa kimochi warui." = "Are we going to see a homosexual? That's bizzar!"

There's more, but they're pointless, and I can't remember them.

(I have nothing against gays, btw. After all, I'm far from straight myself. haha)
