"Don't die." Was the first thing he said to Grant before pausing on his trip towards the eye to look back at him. "You civilians stick together, you'll be safer in a group or staying near one of us for the time being." He glanced at poor Themis frowning slightly, "Are you going to be okay?"

Again he looked back at Jade, the vodka, the matches he held, he held in the gloved... a soft cloth gloved hand. The idea was stupid but it might work, actually it was almost suicidal but word was the Virgo station was good for healing all kinds of wounds to be good as new.

"This might be stupid, but follow me, if worst case comes to worst we use the vodka, this glove, a match, and my fist to set something on fire with that tentacle." He paused for a moment again turning to Holiday, "It's the best I can do for now, I can't use my attack again for a few more minutes...." Draw backs, physical ones really. He didn't feel like forcing the attack and passing out in the middle of this mess.

Of course the bigger issue was he had stopped moving to talk to the others and loose focus of the monster around them.

"Fine, im fine !" Yeah. Nothing broke, so he was fine. As far as he was concerned at least.

And that was about when he got assulted by Cora. He wanted to point out that this was exactly why she shouldn't have brought Hypnos up here, but it was hard to be mad (or even the slightness bit autoritive, really) with her when she looked so honest to god terrified.

"Shh, it's fine." He patted her head - it might have looked a little... well, embarassing if he hadn't been so used to Cora being a cat. "It probably would have come out anyway..." Cora hadn't planted it here, after all. She'd just happened to be right where she shouldn't have been. Something the two blondes had in common, perhaps.

Nonetheless. "Everyone get behind me !" He called out, speading his arms - good thing Cora was clinging to his midsection. "Themis Noise Shield !"

With the monster getting toasty, it might lash out - this was what the shield was for. It would absorb whatever thing threw their way.

...He hoped. He still didn't have as much practice with his eternal attack as he would have liked, and he hadn't figured out the shield's strength and capabilities precisely yet.

As the summer heat of Chronos's attack beat down on the group, the shadow began to sizzle and whine much like a frying egg would. Along with this, the addition of even more heat and fire caused portions to start literally melting. Thick strings of a tarlike substance leapt from some of the enlarged bubbles, but flopped uselessly onto the ground, where they curled and writhed and left sticky trails of themselves in their short wake.

Most of the monster had been greatly weakened... but there was still one bubble that had been left untouched. It noisily burst and a much larger tendril flew out of it, heading like a javelin towards the group. Themis's Noise Shield slowed it down a little, but not nearly enough!

ROLL A D20 TO DODGE!

The lowest number rolled will be hit by the monster! This tendril is very sharp and spearlike at the end. Whoever gets hit will sustain a substantial flesh wound and a pretty intense case of frostbite... you'll definitely survive, but it's still pretty nasty.

Feel free to make a follow-up post or take another action after you roll!

For a moment they all seemed to gather feeling safe thanks to the warm heat of Chronos' summer spell. Most of them gathered in Themis's shield for a moment things seemed okay, the tentacle was melting away around them it was getting better...

Till the last bubble burst tentacle flying forth like a Javalin.

"GET DOWN IT'S ATTACKING!"

It was almost as though the heat was practically roasting the shadow monster alive and Chronos would have probably felt a twinge of sympathy for it if it hadn't been hiding near the entrance of the Temple. The Princess' shoulders relaxed slightly as she lowered her staff, cautiously moving back as Themis yelled out his attack. She couldn't help but glance behind to make sure the civilians and Cora were fine, ushering them back with her hands.

Preoccupied with the others' safety, Chronos only noticed the monster's last desperate attempt to fight back, head swiveling around just as she heard something pop.

((First roll = Jade, second roll = Cora))

Jade nodded to Hephaistos, moving a little closer to him. Silently, she was glad that the senshi seemed to find her capable to fight this monster and not just some weak girl who couldn't protect herself or others. She followed him in the safe distance, ready to aid him and use the vodka if needed.

Until the monster made it's last effort to inflict pain.

Instantly, Jade turned on her heels and started running. She could feel the cold air whistling behind her as the spear-like tendril flew in the air closer to them. The young woman lunged down and hoped for the best.

"You sure?" Cora asked, still sounding like she could burst into sob any minute now. Her head leaned forward a little, to push Themis' hand in very cat-like manner. A small relieved smile formed on her lips when she pulled her head back and whispered softly. "I'm glad."

She didn't let go of the eternal senshi even when he activated the shield. And especially when the monster attacked one last time, she held her hands around his chest even tighter. Tightly, she closed her eyes and wished no one would get hurt.

"Your FIST?" Holi started to demand, her tone incredulous. Were all senshi this self destructive? They had coupons, matches, VODKA... practically everything they needed to soak this things central part in high test alcohol and set it alight... without burning anyone alive. Sure it was dramatic, but it was... it seemed crazy where she was sitting.... though she didn't have the time to start lecturing him on the mechanics of "Don't throw yourself under the car when the handbrake will do" because... well... evidently... tentacle monsters REALLY didn't like Summer Heat. Who knew. They'd certainly never covered it in manga...

Later she'd face palm over the very -idea- of treating tentacle Pr0n manga as a guide to space travel in any form, but right now rationality was taking a back seat to 'Panic and dive', as she gave an alarmed yelp that sacrificed any hope of appearing to be dignified and calm under the circumstances, and tried to throw herself away from the javelin like tentacle.

((I think I can assume that one is at best going to get tied. @_@))

...And failed miserably. Evidently the monster either didn't like chocolate, or maybe it just wanted to defend Haephestus' debate on burning himself to burn the creature. (Maybe she would have too, had she been in it's position.)

It was almost worse than being attacked by the bat, because this time she wasn't seeing things through the numbing haze of depressing blue that had affected her at the time.

She could see it coming, but she just wasn't fast enough to get out of the way, and even her last attempt to flip over and scramble on hands and knees out of the way didn't do much to help her. The Javelin-tentacle ripped into her upper arm and across the top edge of her shoulder, shredding t-shirt and flesh about as easily, and carving a bloody line in it's path. And it was COLD. So cold that the cold itself hurt around the edges of where it had been, because everything else went numb from her upper arm to most of her shoulder, and that in itself was terrifying, because it made it all the harder to know exactly how badly she'd really been hurt.

Don't die.

Yeah, he could do that. Or he would certainly try not to: the very last thing he wanted to do was get himself killed, in fact, so it was convenient that he was ordered to avoid it.

Stay close to the other civilians.

Nodding his head, he turned on his heels like it was the most important mission on the planet, or that he had said something like 'go find the thing's face and punch it' or 'get me a salad'. He was already moving toward the next closest civilian when he saw the tendrils lashing out.

"Oh, look out!" He cried out in surprise, but she didn't. He saw the thing cut into her shoulder and he ran to Holi's side, skidding to a stop. "Oh, that's okay, you didn't have time," he said obscurely. He was forgiving her, so she didn't feel bad, about not heeding his last minute call to dodge, "and I was late. Oh! It's bleeding. Here, don't worry, we need to stick together."

He put his arms around her and all but hoisted her up to get her out of the reach of the tendril. Or rather, out of the established reach of the tendril: he didn't think about it being able to stretch again if it had the energy. Tugging off his own shirt, he pressed it to her shoulder as carefully as he could.

"I'm sorry if this hurts! I have to stop the bleeding, but if you want to hit me you're more than welcome to, if you think that will help. You're going to be okay, and you were very brave!"

He always did his best to comfort and compliment, to make people happy and try to keep any situation light. Even now, he didn't sound strained or upset, just hurried. He also sounded no less sincere then if they had been chatting idly, and he noticed how nice her shirt looked in the light, or something innocuous like that.

The makeshift javelin of the shadow beast yanked itself away as soon as it had done its damage. A small spatter of blood flew from Holi's wound and into the air after it, some of it frozen through and crystallized from the cold touch.

Black inky goop was pooling around the feet of of the group as it continued to melt, runny and useless -- it was sticky and warm and unpleasant, but harmless, as it couldn't bubble with the force it had before. Occasionally very small ones would burst into even smaller handfuls of tendrils, but those only tickled if they moved at all.

What useful substance of the monster was left was concentrated around its eye. Instead of attacking again, a group of tentacles formed a rigid cage around the glowing blue structure in an attempt to shield it from the growing flames.

If there was just a little more heat around, it might be enough to finish it off for good!

OH s**t.

Shield or no shield, watching the spear go straight in his direction was frightning - even more so when the noise shield shattered like glass, at least as far as the sound of it went - in reality, the gathered noise was forced to dissipate, and the force knocked Themis away, further back, sending him rolling off until he hit a large rock and stopped.

Thank god for his fuku being rather covering, or else he would have one heck of a shredded... everything right now. As it was, the coat was in poor condition now.

It was, to say the least, something of the surreal to observe drops of frozen blood, knowing that they were your own, fly through the air, and maybe it was a little bit of shock, but they were almost sort of pretty, in a detached, fuzzy, hurting 'I just helped fight a tentacle monster' sort of way. Grant and his plush-snugly teddy-bear sort of personality only made it seem that much more surreal, like she'd maybe hit her head on a rock and tumbled into one of those kid shows that she used to watch.

"Look..." She pointed out, gesturing at the dying creature with her good arm, as Grant tried to make sure her other wasn't bleeding. She wasn't even looking to see how badly it was, it was so -cold- she couldn't imagine it was bleeding much. Didn't cold slow that sort of thing down? "We almost got it."

She didn't have the supplies with her to do anything to boost the fire, but she wished she did, if only to make up for the disappointing feeling that she wasn't as helpful as she'd set out to be.

If she'd cast herself in a role, she'd have always labeled herself a 'self rescuing princess'. but apparently she wasn't self rescuing, and she definitely wasn't a princess... and she hated feeling helpless, needing help, even from Teddy-Bears like Grant.

It made her want to start crying again, but if she did she'd never be able to forgive herself, even though it hurt and she was upset. She'd already spent enough time crying, and it hadn't done any good.

"If we just make it burn a little more..." She insisted, though she wasn't doing anything more than pointing out the obvious as she patted insistently at Grant, trying to fight back the urge to start sobbing and cursing pointlessly.

Self rescuing princess indeed. More like useless lump in shredded pajamas. She felt so ashamed.

Holiday didn't have a proper chance, even as Hephaistos shouted to get down it was too late, the spear like tendril found her shoulder and sent her spinning to the ground. It was bad, but it could be worse. Had it found her chest, or a vital organ things would be far worse. Still the sight of her blood frozen falling through the air was enough to make him feel guilty, like he had failed to do his job protecting the civilians. Thankfully Grant was already at her side cradling the poor girl telling her it would be okay.

When she pointed towards the beast Hephaistos turned and frowned, it was trying to protect that blue 'eye' in the middle of it now. "We need to break or burn the barrier to get to it." He turned back to the others again frowning, "Someone take the vodka we had and the matches, we can burn it down if this doesn't work..."

Turning around he held out his hand in front of him again, "I can clear a path and try this, but im not guaranteeing it works so bring the Vodka to set it on fire just to be sure. Liquid Steel!" From the air trails of glowing metal pulled together forming a sphere just like the first one, but rather then quickly throw it away he started to move quickly towards the eye hopping one of the others had the vodka and matches behind him, once he got a few feet away he pulled back his arm slinging the burning metal orb towards the eye. "Just die already!"

It was too late when she had noticed the tentacle slash right into Holi. Too late to shift into Princess form, to call on the Opal Crystal and form a barrier to fend off the attack. All she could do was to move towards them and give her some words of comfort. "Stay here. I'll bring you to Virgo after we're done with this." The guilt she felt was quickly pushed aside with the knowledge that the monster was still not dead and could very well harm the others. With that, Chronos headed back to the fight, standing besides Hephaistos.

"I'm not burning it." Chronos declared firmly. "There's a chance the fire could spread about." There could very well be something important sealed inside the Temple and she was not about to compromise it. Not when it was the only structure in the Surrounding that mostly seemed intact from the outside.

Taking a deep breath, she pulled off her tiara as she watched the metal-clad senshi call out his attack once again. "Equinox Tiara Magic!" Hopefully, hopefully, this would be enough to vanquish it once and for all.

Grant held on to Holi, though he was compelled to let her go as she tried to struggle. If she wanted to go, he wasn't going to hold her against her will, but she didn't tell him flat out that this was what she wanted so he could only assume she was just trying to get comfortable and the swatting was to fan him in case he was hot.

He wasn't.

Holding her to him, he watched with wide eyes as the senshi attacked the monster, which looked like it wasn't doing very well anyway. He felt bad for the thing, wondering if they had just misunderstood its intentions, or if it had a reason for attacking them like it did. Still, it had caused them pain, injured Holi, and that wasn't something easily looked over.

Even for a guy that saw the good in everything.

"Don't worry," he said again to Holi, smiling at her reassuringly, "burning it was a good idea, but it looks like they have a good idea, too. You'll be safe in the end, either way."

It was terrible sight to see the younger girl (Holi) get hit by the tentacle javelin thing. It really looked like it did hurt! For a moment Jade felt a little guilty for not taking the hit for her. It was not that she was a masochist but she had a feeling that she might had got more used to the pain than Holi did and thus might had taken the hit better.

She looked at Hephaistos, the monster and the half-empty vodka bottle she had in her hand. She almost ran to the senshi's aid but words of the princess stopped her to rethink. She was right. The fire could very well spread around and things could get dangerous very quickly, to all of them.

So, instead of following Hephaistos, Jade moved quickly by the side of Grant, Holi and her injured hand. "Let me see it," young woman said firmly while kneeling down to examine the wound. She glanced at the vodka bottle, Grant's cloth, Holi's wound, the girl's expression and made a soft yet thoughtful 'hmmm' sound. How well would she handle the process she was planning to do next?

But before that...

"Hey, cat girl! Come over here!" Jade firmly called Cora, who had been knocked down on the floor with Themis to whom she had clinged on. Her grip had slipped from him though and she was now lying on the ground. As she heard Jade's call, her ears flicked and not long after it, she weakly stood up and scrambled towards the civilian group. With flattened ears, she glanced at Themis. "I'll be right there!" she let him know before continuing her walk towards civilians.

"Uhhm, what is it?" she asked from Jade when she was next to her. She glanced at every one of the group, offering them a little sorry smile as a greeting. Apparently she still felt guilty for being in the wrong place in the wrong time.

"This girl's wound needs a bandage. Can we use the cloth on your shoulders?" the turqouise-haired woman asked. After getting a silent nod from Cora, who started to un-tie her capelet's bow, Jade turned her attention to Holi.

"There is a chance that your wound gets infected," she said with a firm voice and rose the hand that was holding the vodka bottle. "We can clean it with this but it's probably going to hurt. A lot. Do you think you can handle the pain?"
