"Well it would be a shame to have pushed the rocks all the way up this hill for nothing," Ayame responded in a matter-of-fact voice. "I think of it as like an alternate obsticles training course. We just push the rocks down the hill, and chase after them. Try to stear them around the trees and such in the way before they hit, by kinda ramming them with your sides."
She shrugged her muscular shoulders. "It's safer to just let the rock hit things, then push it free and resume the chase. I didn't start trying to steer them until I'd practiced racing a few times. Still no safe way to stop them yet, so I don't recommend it."
Ayame looked expectantly at Rui, ready to recieve the "Are you crazy?!" look.

He blinked at her. This may be a ballsy move but he nodded. "Ok. I get it." He nodded more, not to inform her that he was going to do it but more for himself. "You ready?" He positioned himself behind his rock and waited for Ayame. How this girl came up with these things he had NO idea.

Ayame nodded and stood back, giving Rui some space. "I'll follow after you. Kinda dangerous to have two heavy rocks rolling at fast speeds down a hill at the same time." She chuckled softly. "Doesn't matter how strong you are, they'll still break bones. So be careful."

"Alright. Here goes nothing..." He nudged his rock and it started to roll. He gave it a head start and made chase. It was pretty clear and the where he started had a pretty clear shot. The rock started to pick up a little speed. Oh crap. It was fast and was starting to get further a way from him. He managed to catch up to it in time to shove it away from a tree, only for it to roll off into a bush.

Ayame watched Rui go, muscles taunt as she stretched to her full height and leaned forward to peer down the hill. He wasn't doing bad, for a beginning. There really wasn't any way you could do bad at this exercise, really; if you didn't get hit by the rampaging bolder, you were doing just fine.
Mainly the point was obsticle dodging at high speed, and also learning something kind of like evasion or fighting techniques. If you were in a race you didn't want to slow down, and a well-timed bump to a racer could send them sprawling and affect the whole team. Ayame didn't practice this technique herself, but it was good practice for learning how to brace herself and keep her speed unchanged.
Before Rui got so far that he was swallowed up by the trees, Ayame charged down the hill and followed after him. She needed to know when he got to the bottom of the hill so she could push down her own bolder, and this was the best way. Never hurt to have someone looking out for you either, so if something happened and the rock did hit Rui she'd be there and able to help in a matter of moments.

Rui sat there panting, and staring at the rock lodged in the bush. "Really rock? Can't you roll the right way?" He let out a sigh and turned to see Ayame coming up behind him. He couldn't see the rock. Wait... Where was it? He didn't want to risk being ran over so he joined the rock in the bush.

Ayame skidded to a halt a few feet away from the bush, eyebrow raised and expression bemused. "Rui," she called, taking a few steps closer. "Your boulder get stuck?" She made sure to stay uphill of the bush, just in case the bolder dislodged on its own and resumed its downhill journey. So far it didn't seem inclined to move, but better safe than sorry.

Rui popped his head out from the bush. "Er, not necessarily stuck.. " He stumbled out from the bush and got out his boulder. It stayed put so he wouldn't go anywhere until he nudged it. "I just wasn't sure if you took your boulder down with her. So I took cover just in case."

Ayame gave Rui a half smile. "Nah, I wouldn't do that until I was sure you'd gotten to the bottom of the hill. If my boulder went faster than yours that could have ended really badly!" She glanced at the boulder stuck in the bush, figuring with this little delay it could very well have happened that way.
"Figured I'd run down with you then run back up when I knew for sure you were done, then I'd push my boulder down."
Ayame looked back at Rui and gave him another half smile, taking in his slighty sweaty state and his labored breath. "How's it going so far?"

Rui thought for a moment. "Fine for me so far, I'm not dead." He looked down at the bush. "Not to sure about the bush though... The boulder seemed to have bent the trunk of it." He frowned slightly. He tried not to be one of those destructive foxes... but this time was an accident.

Ayame nodded sympathetically. "That happened to me a lot when I was first getting the hang of this," she told Rui. "Don't worry though, stuff that grows on the mountain is pretty hardy. You have to do a lot to kill one of these scruffy bushes!"
She moved in closer to examine the damage. "This isn't too bad," she finally proclaimed. "If you push the boulder out the way it came in, it should be able to be removed without causing any more damage."

Rui nodded. "Watch out." He pushed the rock carefully so he wouldn't damge the tree more. He un-wedged the rock and the bush snapped back. He jumped back again and got grazed by a branch. "There." He chuckled. "Maybe I should send down a bigger rock to run it over after that lash back."

Ayame laughed. “Let’s wait until you can easily manage a rock of this size before trying for anything bigger,” she said, bumping her shoulder against his in a companionable way. “Speaking of-,” she added, giving her chin a quick jerk to indicate her line of vision, “-you’re losing your rock.”
She grinned and gave him another bump, then resumed chasing after the rock. She threw a quick look back over her shoulder. “Better hurry up deerbutt, or I get bragging rights for both the rocks,” she called after him with her short, bark-like laugh. Of course she still had to go back up the hill and push her own rock down before she could claim those bragging rights, but her muscles were burning pleasantly from the run since all she’d been doing so far was supervise; she was quite eager to get to her own rock run and giving her muscles a good workout!

Yeah, Whatever, He was losing his rock. Pffft. Whatever. Rui is an old man and doesn't care about rocks. Screw rocks! He hoped it hit another tree! Screw trees too!
"Watchu talkin' bout Willis?"
At first Rui looked at her, somewhat confused. Then he heard it. "Deerbutt!? Who you callin' a deerbutt!?" He grumbled and darted after Ayame. Luckily he was fast and caught up. He bumped into the other, trying to get her of course a little.

Ayame snorted. “Sorry Barkbiter, did I offend your delicate sensibilities? If you want I can call you Twiglegs instead.” She had to pause in her speech for a moment while she navigated around a particular thick patch of trees and bushes; it was either veer off that way or get trampled by the rolling rock, which had taken the only clear path and had avoided getting retangled in vegetation.
“Anyway Hornhead, you’re supposed to be guiding the rock. Better give it a tap or it’s going to hit that tree ahead of us,” she called out, spotting a particularly stout-looking pine tree trunk right in the rock’s path. How she managed to pull off a taunting, raised-eyebrow look while panting and running was a mystery, but it was one of those talents Ayame was known for. “I’m knocking points off your score if I have to do it for you!”
