Tanner sighed and came up beside her, not wanting to walk behind her anymore In case they were attacked.
Matt patted Nickolas' back, he smiled behind his helmet and turned on his Tak-comm, It was like night-vision but It out lined everything In the cave so he could see where he was going. It also alerted him of Locust. Plus, It was starting to get dark In the cave, he could barely see three feet In front of him.

Kirin glanced over at him for just a moment before continuing deeper into the cave. She adjusted her own Tak-comm to see the cave and be alerted of Locust. Finally, she spoke up. "So... just how far down do you think this tunnel goes?..."
Nickolas copied his brother and looked ahead in the cave, seeing it like night vision. Now that he was focused on the mission, he couldn't help but having a bad feeling that something would go wrong.

Tanner turned his Tak-comm on as well. "I don't know, maybe another mile or half." He replied as he checked his lancer and shotgun, both were loaded and ready to go.
Matthew felt like someone was watching them but he thought he was paranoid so he shook It off and kept walking.

Kirin sighed softly and had her own lancer ready. She reloaded her sniper rifle from earlier and made sure it was ready too.
Nickolas looked over at Matthew for a moment, feeling something was off. He glanced around for a bit slowly. Suddenly he pushed his brother to the side as a shot rang out, echoing in the cave. A bullet pierced his chest, armor and all, then he fell backwards on the ground with a thud.

Tanner jumped a bit when he heard a gun shot ring through the cave. "What was that?" He asked Kirin.
Matthew almost fell over when Nickolas pushed him, he let out a surprised yelp at the gun shot, he turned just In time to see his brother hit the ground. He froze. No... No... I can't lose him! That sniper Is gonna pay! He said In his mind before switching out his lancer with his pistol, he aimed right were the shot had came from, he could see the faint outline of a locust sniper. Matt aimed carefully and pulled the trigger, he heard a distant pop. He had gotten a head shot. He gritted his teeth when two more showed up, he shot the other two In the head as well. More and more came out and Matthew shot them all until his clip was empty, thankfully, there was no more locust coming. He glanced down at Nickolas and and rushed over him, Matt knelt down and lean him up carefully. "Nickolas! Nick please be alright!"

Kirin stiffened and gritted her teeth, having her lancer at the ready. "It was a gunshot, either from a Locust, or Matt and Nick. I can't tell-" She cut off when she heard the series of bullets. "F**k! That's a lancer! The first shot must have been a Locust!... No one better be hurt..." She was half tempted to run back to find Matthew and Nickolas, but then there were multiple shots being fired at them. She grabbed Tanner by the arm and took cover behind a large boulder to the side of the tunnel.
Nickolas held still when he heard the shots fire from Matt's lancer, mostly because he was in too much pain to move anyways. He gritted his teeth when he felt himself being leaned up. He did his best to get his helmet off without causing to much pain before coughing up blood. Despite the pain and blood, he smiled weakly up at his brother. "H-heh... Yo-ou should w-watch where you're goin-ng..."

Tanner gritted his teeth, he became worried about Matthew and Nickolas but that switched to the situation he and Kirin were In right now. "We need to take down this grubs and get to them." He said over the gun fire.
Matthew fought to hold back tears. "Y-you moron.... why did you do that?" He said quietly, he was trying to keep his voice from cracking but It didn't work. "Pl-please... Please d-don't die bro, w-we can give this -mission to s-someone else." Matt said as a few tears run down his face, but since he still had his helmet on, they couldn't be seen.

Kirin nodded and peeked out from their hiding spot just enough to aim and fire her lancer.
Despite not being able to see the tears, Nick could tell Matthew was crying. "A-are you nu-uts?... I-i'll be fine... It's just a small w-wound..." Truth was, it caught his lung, which is why he was coughing up blood and having trouble breathing. "I'm not going to di-ie... W-we can fi-finish the mission tog-gether, ok-kay? Yo-ou... m-me... Kir-rin... and T-tanner..." He broke off, coughing up some more blood before he was left panting.

Tanner stepped out a bit and shot over Kirin. "Stay down!" He said to her as he took down about three locust.
Matthew reached up to his comm-link call for a King Raven, he paused. This was Nick's first mission but he was wounded at the same time. Matt was torn. "A-are you sure? I'm not a good medic like Kirin, but a chest wound Is far from being alright, that bullet could had hit something, like your heart or your lungs." He said.

Kirin lowered herself, gritting her teeth a bit until the last of the locust here were killed. Once the locust attacking them were dead, she got to her feet quickly and almost glared at Tanner. "I could have handled it!"
Nick just smiled a bit wider and nodded. "H-h**l yeah... Just get K-kirin to take a look, gi-ive me a bandage, and I-i'll be fine..."

"They need us." He said as worry gleamed In his eyes, before running back the way they had came, there wasn't any more locust In the area at the moment but they could easily pop up any moment.
Matthew nodded, he glanced around before checking his Tak-com. Good, no locust anywhere. He let out a sigh and took his helmet off, as dangerous as It was right now, he didn't care. He used the back of his gloved hand to wipe the tear stains away from his face. "You ever pull something like this again and I'll shoot you myself." He said before smiling, he was joking but he also trying to lighten't the good and cheer himself up. Matt wanted to blame himself for not watching out for sniper's and shoving off that feeling he had before all of this happened. He could have lost Nick, but that was still hanging In the back of his mind. He knew If Nickolas didn't get help, he could.... Matthew shook his head, he didn't want to think about that right now.

Kirin just gritted her teeth a bit but ran after Tanner in silence.
Nick only laughed weakly. "N-not if I-i shoot you fir-rst..." he joked. He would have tried poking his brother in the forehead, but right now it just hurt to breathe, let alone move. He looked up at Matthew for a bit before letting his eyes shut but at least breathing remained the same for now rather than fading.

Tanner reached the start of the cave, he quickly went left and headed down that tunnel, he made sure not to leave Kirin behind. "Matt, me and Kirin are coming down the save, do don't shoot." He said calmly Into the comm-link.
Matthew's face brighted up a bit when he heard Tanner, he sighed but smiled before grabbing Nick's hand, he squeezed a bit. "Alright." Was all he could say. A memory flashed behind his eyes as he remembered how he would always hold and squeeze Nickolas' hand when they were little, It was a sign of resurrection that everything was going to be okay. "It'll be okay, I'll always be here..." He said with a warm smile. That was the same thing he had said to Nick before leaving for training.

Nick opened his eyes slightly, nodding in agreement. "It'll... be ok..." he said quietly before shutting his eyes again.
Kirin followed Tanner until she spotted Matthew and Nickolas up ahead. She almost tripped as she froze while running, seeing blood, then she sped up until she was next to them. She knelt by Nickolas and took out a medical kit she always kept with her, then examined the wound. "Jesus Christ...." she whispered softly before beginning to treat the wound.

((That's weird... I was counting to see what the brother's age's would be when Matt lelt for training. Nick would be 11 and Matt would be 18 ))
Matthew moved back a bit to give Kirin some room to work, but he never let go of Nickolas' hand. He kept repeating his brother's words In his head. He knew he was going to be fine, he had to be...
