It took her a little back when Harkon actually apologized to her. She didn't see it was necessary for him to do so but it was a kind and nice gesture. ''lt's quite alright.'' she said humbly to his words, and then nodded at his agreement to her idea of to keep pushing forward. She made sure to keep hold of her sword in her hand to insure she wouldn't have to redraw it the next encounter they would run into. ''He seems to give everyone a reason to be frustrated.'' she cleaned her blade off with a linen the goblin had on him. Wiping the blood off her blade, purifying it from any discrepancies that the filth would have laid on it. Taking a quick inspection of it, she tossed the rag to the side ''l do wish them the best of luck though.'' Her words were honest.

Though she felt a grudge against them for leaving and speaking down to her, she didn't wish death upon them. No reason to want someone dead just because of a small verbal disagreement. Arguments happen quite often between people and if everyone wanted someone dead over a few words then there would be barely a world to be protecting. She stopped thinking about them almost instantly as soon as Eliya spoke. Two simple words and then she started off by taking point. Coraline walked in the middle with Harkon right behind her. She felt protected, like a wall was behind her always and she was being led by someone who would risk themselves for her, and she would do the same. They were in this together not out for themselves.

A quick though appeared into her thoughts though. lt was about what both of the two who left said, but more specifically what they had in common: there was no plan of attack. They all kind of just went out and did what they did best, not thinking of what the others did themselves. Mindless mayhem. She was going to put a stop to that. She tried thinking of what their strengths were. Knowing her own, she tried to think of what the other two were good at. Eliya had a strong knowledge with the arcane arts, and Harkon seemed to be good at being the main focus. Herself, she was quite skilled with a sword and conjuration, though lacked many defenses. She couldn't really parry attacks or defend her self outright if she needed to, that could be Harkon's job, to make sure the two elves were to be protected. She was a very aggressive combatant.

Soon though, while walking through another narrow tunnel after passing a old door, they came to an opening. A large chasm with a small fire up ahead. Coraline spotted a few goblins but not very much else. Eliya was up front and taking most of her visibility, and she stopped giving Coraline the idea that there was more then just a few goblins up ahead. This time there wasn't going to be a charge of attacks without some kind of strategy. ''
How about a strategy?'' she offered while keeping her voice down. ''l can make the playing field a little more even, giving us four to how ever many there are out there. Though l'll be open to attack once l start the spell.'' she turned her head around to the Nord behind her. ''Think you can give a good diversion just for a brief moment?'' she said smiling. She didn't really know what to ask of Eliya, or if she should even suggest something. She only knew of two encounters where she didn't do much, but was effective nonetheless. ''Suggestions?'' she asked the pair.

Neven Telvanni- Warlock

Health : Unharmed ┃ Magicka : recharged┃ Fatigue : Rested ┃ Effects : Night Eye/Detect Life┃Equipped : Weaponward Cuirass (Resist Normal Weapons 9%) Leather Cuirass, Clothes, Mages Staff of Shock [Journeyman], Silver Longsword ┃ Quest Items : NA┃ Location : Goblin Jim's Cave

As Neven was walking away he let loose a string of cruses in his native Dunmer tongue. Most were directed toward the lumbering idiot Hakon, while the rest where reserved for that S'wit of an Altmer Eliya. 'I should have left that Altmer die in that ruined fort, but NOOO I had to play the hero and stop that b***h of a Bosmer from sticking her dagger in Eliya.' Neven thought to himself as he continued to backtrack. Under his breath he continued to vent his anger and frustration "Who the hell does she think she is, jumped up Altmer scum. They think they are the master race. HA A short trip to the slaver shops of Tel Aruhn will show her the truth of the matter. As for that under-evolved walking pile of flesh Hakon, he seems to have forgotten that the Dunmer are a force to be reckoned with, and have never been conquered by any outside force...They will pay oh yes they will pay before this is over..."

Neven was so caught up in his rage that he didn't hear the footsteps coming up from behind him. It wasn't until he heard someone clear their throat, that he registered that someone was behind him. He whipped around and growled "What?" However the person standing behind him was not the person he had been expecting. It was the Bosmer woman, Neven narrowed his fiery eyes and stared her down as she talked about agreeing with him that the Altmer child was indeed a fool, and that she would like to tag along with him to search the rest of the cave. Neven tilted his head to the side and looked her up and down, sizing up her potential. "As long as you don't get in my way, you can join me. Just don't expect me to save your life if you run into some kind of trouble. I've already made that mistake once before," His thoughts went to that smug Altmer "and I wont be repeating that mistake again."

Hakon Vermundr

Hakon travelled lightly behind the two females, not wishing his stride to outpace theirs or to be in such a hurry that he would trip and sprain a ankle. While he wished that Mora had stayed with them, he respected her desire to leave for the time being. Going into battle with negative thoughts towards your allies often brought the temptation of letting them being overrun by the enemy or killing them personally in the confusion of the battle. Nevertheless, Eliya and Caroline had proven to be far more versatile than he believed any mages were, even to the point if he wondered if they were true mages at all. He, on the other hand, knew he was only capable of mending flesh and bone after a battle. That being said he already formed the idea of being a wall between the man they were supposed to rescue and the goblins when the time came. The two women could easily kill at a range and upclose from his observations, while he was limited to only the reach of his sword. In addition, if anything happened to their intended target he would be close enough to administer aid in form of either potion or spell.

So when Eliya called attention to the goblin camp ahead of them he was already working on how to best use his strengths without limiting that of the other two. Thanks in part to the campfire, Hakon could see the cage on the other side of the room and the chasm but could not tell if the prisoner or mere rats were contained in each. Surprisingly, it was Caroline who brought up the strategy this time and one that he readily agreed to. Peering into the area ahead of them, Hakon noted the first two Goblin each carried only a axe and sword apiece. After that he could make out one with a shield but nothing further. Easy work. Further ahead was the chasm, which could easily make the enemies numbers count for nothing. Keeping his voice to a gruff whisper he decided to add his opinion, “I can probably knock down one of the first Goblins, maybe daze it long enough so that Eliya can kill it while I keep moving forward. I figure if I can keep pushing towards the chasm it should keep enough distance so as to not interfere with your spellwork.” Looking forward once more, he made a rough gesture towards the first goblin on the left, “I’ll knock him down, then keep moving. With any luck our sudden appearance and aggressive actions will keep them focused on my frame while Eliya takes out those that get behind me and assist when they start to gather.”

That was far as he could plan, as strategizing around an area he could not see was not a strength of his. When Eliya indicated that she was ready to proceed he took position in front of the group but just out of sight of the Goblins. Drawing a deep breath, the Nord kissed his blade for luck before turning back to Eliya and Caroline to confirm they were ready. When they did so, he turned his attention back to the nearest Goblins and started to run. In time his speed increased to a full-fledged charge, with the clanking of his armor and every growing battle cry catching the attention of the goblins. When he neared the first one it raised its arm to strike out, only for Hakon’s study shield to slam into its chest with enough force to knock it to the ground as he kept moving forward. The second made the same mistake but this time he used his sword to cut a line through its stomach, making a deep enough cut to severely injure the goblin and keep its focus on Hakon but not enough to kill it immediately. As he neared the chasm another goblin rushed out, striking out at his shield. This caused him to come to an abrupt stop as he blocked blow after blow from the berserker. The second he saw his opportunity, the Nord lowered his own defenses and struck violently at the creature, slashing and stabbing it multiple times before it fell. Not a moment after the creature was killed the did he feel a sharp pain in his left shoulder, where upon looking at he found out that he had been shot by an goblin archer from across the cave. Without a second thought, he snapped the arrow in half so as to minimize how much it hindered his movement before blocking the blows of a newly arrived berserker.

Eliya ~

Even as Eliya was still scouting the situation, sizing up their enemies, Coraline mentioned devising a strategy. The suggestion made obvious sense, and not just because the younger Altmer had very recently nearly left the world of the living. "I agree, what did you have in mind?" Crouched, to hide herself as much as possible, Eliya leaned in as she listened to her partners quietly speak. A diversion would be good. Hakon creating one was probably the next best thing to using a bow and stealth attacking....regretful, the redheaded mage unconsciously looked over her shoulder, the way Mora had left with the Dunmer. They could have used her skillful use of the bow right about now. Oh well. They would have to do what they could in her absence.

“I can probably knock down one of the first Goblins, maybe daze it long enough so that Eliya can kill it while I keep moving forward. I figure if I can keep pushing towards the chasm it should keep enough distance so as to not interfere with your spellwork. I’ll knock him down, then keep moving. With any luck our sudden appearance and aggressive actions will keep them focused on my frame while Eliya takes out those that get behind me and assist when they start to gather.”

The mage assassin nodded in approval as she listened to the bulk of a man speak, his own voice hushed to avoid detection. "Excellent. I will follow and clean up any messes you leave behind." She turned to face Coraline, though she couldn't see her face very well in the dark shadows. "Hakon and I will do our best to keep them away from you so you have plenty of room to cast your spells." Once it was clear they were all on the same page, they moved into position. The Altmer mage crouched, her small frame blending in with a large rock, as she blended in, watching and waiting as Hakon ran suddenly towards the Goblin camp. Silently she counted.

The sound of the warrior's shield smashing aside one of the goblin's gave way to a small smile that breached Eliya's face. Hakon's battle cry was actually remotely inspiring, and with a surge of adrenaline the Altmer left her position and ran after him. Lightly her feet ran across the stone floor, both hands empty as they pumped at her sides, allowing her to gather speed. Even as she ran, her hands reached into her cloak and each pulled out a throwing knife. With accurate and quick release, the knives flew through the air, each past Hakon, embedding themselves in two separate targets. One was a clean kill, while the other thudded into a goblin's shoulder. Not quite lethal. Eliya would have to remedy that. The reason she'd missed however had been unexpected body movement on Hakon's part. Though it was in no way his fault, the warrior had forced Eliya to shift as she released her knife through the air, and it had been all she could do to make sure it didn't hit him. Luckily instead of landing in her fellow guildmate, it landed in a goblin's shoulder.

Now was the time to stop throwing knives. Even as her flying knives found their targets, her hands were already moving, pulling out the long twin daggers at her waist. The goblin Hakon had knocked to the ground, was starting to get up, though obviously still disoriented. Instantly the female elf was upon him, and past him, making quick work. Slash, cut, slash, move on. Mentally Eliya moved with internal rhythm, like clock work. The next goblin she stepped over, it appeared Hakon had struck a deadly blow to the stomach of the creature, though it was not yet dead. Had Eliya been of the merciful sort she might have ended its misery, but unfortunately for the green skinned creature, she was not. She danced over another dead body, not far from Hakon now and viciously cut down the goblin that was kneeling, struggling to pull out her deeply embedded throwing knife. It looked up just as she fell upon it. The warm spray of blood caught her slightly, and she glanced away to check on Caroline....

Harkon gave great input and said what Coraline didn't really want to say out right. He was the best candidate for the distraction. She did ask him to do it, if he wanted to, but didn't want to take control of the group. Coraline saw it best that the three work as a team without a leader, working together to devise plans instead of relying on one person to do it all on themselves. She was glad that Harkon was giving his two cents on the plan, telling them what he was going to do with his part so it was not to interfere with anyone else's strategy. After he spoke Eliya told her that she too was going to go in with him. lt was a little scary to think of her being left alone in the back, though not for long. She looked back with Eliya, cautious if the other elf had heard something she had not. But that was not the case. There was nothing, healthy paranoia perhaps.

So the plan was decided and even though it was a team effort, Coraline felt as if there had been a great deal of it depending on her. She didn't really say what she was going to summon, but felt as if it were best to do so. But as Harkon stood up and started to charge, Elyia followed behind him. There was no half assing now, she was now committed to this plan. She watched as the duo rushed in, breaking the goblins defense with a strong shield and killing one for a distance. Now with an open view Coraline was able to see exactly how many there were. She hadn't anticipated on this amount, but it wasn't going to matter now, the plan was already in effect. lt was not her turn to do her part.

She placed her fingertips on the ground before she stood up and her heart was racing, she felt weak in her knees as she pulled upwards. A dark red portal, blazened with black and yellow, as if it was on fire itself, a rift opened to another dimension. A large figure with two horns first appeared as a silhouette at first but then a foot, clad in metal stepped through the portal. Another foot came through and soon his unhelmeted head was the only part visible. His dark skin with red markings gave her the chills but was confident that it would obey her orders until his time on this plane was up and he was torn back to his own world. (Summon Dremora) He pulled out a large sword, black and red like his armor and wielded it with one hand before he glanced over at the now fighting group. Coraline didn't have to say a word, he already knew what to do.

It's feet took longer strides then her own but as she tried to follow him, she pulled out her own sword to fight along with the party. His blow came first before the goblin could even see what was happening. His blade tore through the green being effortlessly. Her Caitiff spun around and split in half another goblin before advancing to a third, it's loud armor clanked making it unaware that another one was advancing on it from behind. Though luckily for it, Coraline wasn't as fast at running and it gave her the chance to get the jump on it. She drove her blade through the back, twisting it as she started to hear the bones underneath it's skin scrap against her sword. Quickly another goblin took it's place.

She didn't have to time to get a proper defense up. She was only able to parry it's attack for a split second at the cost of her sword. It's foot came crashing on her chest, kicking her backwards and off her feet. She landed a few feet away, hitting her head on the rocks where she landed. The feeling dazed her for a second but she quickly tried to catch herself and ready for another attack from the same goblin. It advanced quickly on her and she took out her spare blade, a small but useful dagger. Pulling it out of it's sheath she stabbed the femur. lt let out a loud yell before it was silenced by the Caitiff. It's attack decapitated it. As it fell Coraline pulled out her dagger and picked herself up, looking to see if her team was holding themselves better then her.

Hakon Vermundr

With Eliya and Caroline taking care of the nearby goblins, including the damnable one with the bow, it allowed Hakon to go on the offensive. With the berserker’s strength fading and the speed of its attacks diminishing, he timed the gap between the berserker’s blows before dropping his shield. In the same instant, he raised his sword over his left shoulder before swinging his blade horizontally with a strong attack. As the goblin would say it was perhaps too strong as the blade easily decapitated the creature. With the current threat taken care of, he spared a glance backwards to see how the other two were doing. To his surprise, Caroline had summed some sort of creature from…somewhere. He was not all that familiar with the school of conjuration, in fact he thought it was borderline morally wrong, but that did not stop him from being impressed by her ability. Likewise, Eliya’s skillful slaughter of the rest of the goblins let him breath easy knowing that he had two skilled women at his back.

Now all that was left was the big threats, which included the goblin shaman and chiefs along with a scattered few others. Raising his shield once more, he made his way to the last goblin archer. The thunks of arrows as they pierced his shield confirmed that the creature was focused on him. Before long he could even see its outline over the top of his shield. With each step that he advanced the creature backed away until its back was against the wall, giving it little room to maneuver away from Hakon’s blade as it was pierced through the heart. When he turned back around he managed to catch a goblin attempting to run up on him and he wasted no time parrying its blow before striking vertically on the goblin’s head, splitting its skull in the process. How many was that now? Ten maybe, perhaps a little less. Whatever the number he could only see the shaman ahead of him so maybe the chieftan went to attack Eliya and Caroline. Which was very unfortunate for the shaman, to be left alone with no real defense against the large Nord.

As the Nord closed the distance between himself and the shaman, the creature casted several spells of unknown ability against the Nord in vein. For while he was not very effective at magic himself, he was very fortunate to have the ability to absorb magika like it was mead. Soon enough he was atop of the creature, hammering away at it with blow after blow. The shame tried to shield itself with its staff with some success before the power of the Nord’s blows lowered the weapon, leaving an opening that was all too easily exploited. Knocking the creature to the ground, Hakon thrust his sword into the shame repeatedly until it finally died.

Eliya ~

[ ooc- okay guys give confused insanity a chance to interject with Marlones since she is going to puppet him, if a few days go by and she has yet to post then we will just treat him like an NPC as needed. ]

Eliya's malachite eyes widened when she saw Coraline open a portal to the daedric realm, calling forth a dremora. The Altmer forced her open mouth to close, incredibly impressed at the young woman's aptitude for conjuration. Unfortunately for Eliya, conjuration was not a school of magic she was even remotely gifted in. By nature she had always been more attune to the other schools of magic, and had thus not spent any time on what she felt would be a wasted effort. Apparently Coraline did not share this weakness.

The red headed Altmer forced her attention back to the skirmish before her, and not a moment too soon. Hakon had put some distance between them and was several meters away, attacking what appeared to be the Goblin Shaman. Awe quickly shifted to worry as Eliya knew the warrior could hardly be expected to takon on a shaman by himself. How could he possibly defend against magic? Perhaps he would get lucky? The Altmer moved forward quickly, attempting to close the distance between, at the same time raising a hand to release a ball of fire. She never released her magicka however because once again for the second time in only minutes she was struck by astonishment. The shaman's spells didn't seem to have any effect on the giant Nord. It seemed as if he was actually....

Abruptly it clicked in Eliya's mind. He could absorb magicka. Well now that was convenient. No longer immediately concerned for the man's welfare, Eliya's gaze turned to locate Coraline. The mage appeared to have just finished her last opponent. Nodding at the other woman, Eliya moved forward and approached the cage to her left. There appeared to be someone inside. Once she was standing outside the cage, the Altmer frowned in confusion. Was Marlones mute? She could see his mouth moving but no words were audible. He appeared to be pointing at the now dead body at Hakon's feet, mimicking a key unlocking motion. The shaman must have the key on its body. "Hakon, search the Shaman Goblin for a key to this cage." A few moments later Eliya had the key in hand and was opening the door. Once it was open and Marlones stepped out, his voice was audible. Eliya stepped aside respectfully to give him room.

Could this simple Goblin Shaman really had the power to place a spell of silence and who knew what else over the cage? Apparently so....a slight tickle on the back of her neck, caused Eliya to glance around the seemingly empty chamber. As she mentally counted the bodies, she realized uneasily that the Goblin Chieften was missing.

------->MARLONES<-------

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Marlones' head jerked upward when he saw, out of the corner of his eye, the impossibilty of people coming to rescue him. "Friends! You've come!" He yelled aloud, as he tried to stand. There was little standing room, of course, so he ended up back down on his robed posterior. His voice echoed oddly as well, and it visably took him a minute to remember why this was. All the while he was yelling encouragement and advice until he realized that his voice was muted so he wouldn't try throwing a firebolt at his captives. Last time that happened, he almost set the area on fire and almost killed a couple of goblins as well as himself. Probably wouldn't have been such a problem if the goblins hadn't been such filty creatures that were accustomed to leaving thier own feces around the place. Marlones tried to get up again in excitement, but bumped his head on the roof of the cage. The adventurers probably didn't see his awkward fumblings anyway, as they were too busy with the golbins. He allowed himself to settle down and wait for the bloody mess of the battle to conclude.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Then eveything was over, and a pretty Altmer was approaching his confinement. In a stroke of lucidity, he remembered that the key would have to be retrieved before his could be let out of the cage. They key was quickly brought and he was soon free and audible again. "Oh, thank you friends! The Mages guild does care about me." He looked around at the three people who were gathering around. "The mages guild has some strange folk in it now-a-days. I mean, you're huge!" He said, walking over to the nord. His legs gave out unexpectedly, uncertain after being confined for as long as he was. "And you! You must be... what? Seven? Why would they have a seven-year-old come to rescue me? Oh, wait, those ears. You must be an Altmer. Sorry, dear. Longer growth cycle and all." He bumbled on good-naturedly as he picked himself off the ground and dusted off his soiled robes. "So did you kill the other one? I need his staff. It's what I came here for."

Mora listened to Neven's less than friendly speech with a quiet, composed expression. As a healer, of course, her views about how a party was to function was vastly different than the Dunmer's. She was usually there purely for support of the others; a well-placed arrow felling an enemy unseen, a quick healing spell for someone who is bleeding out, long-term care for those who got their guts spilled by some monster. Her mind flashed back to a boy in the cave of a troll, dead and cold before she could even get to him. The Wood Elf gritted her teeth against the memory, then opened her mouth to reply to her current companion. "If I can, I will save you if something unexpected happens and you need help. I will not expect anything in return except your respect. It's not any sort of personal favor; it's just what I do." Her words were firm and unfaltering.

They moved through the caverns in hushed tones, making their way back to where she and the others had first faced the goblins. The clearing ahead had yet to be explored, so there was probably a little gold around, maybe a chest. Mora didn't care much for the loot. She generally trusted her party members to give her things that she might be able to use. Neven might just take it all for himself, of course. He was a bit of a mystery in her book. It was fortunate that Mora wasn't greedy. Eliya and the others, however, would probably be more considerate. That's why Mora was focused more on the walls to see if there was some sort of passageway that would lead around to where the others were. When old wizards were involved, there was usually some secret.

Mora’s comment made Neven come to a halt, he watched as his companion continued forward, maybe he had been too condescending toward her. She had unknowingly become the unfortunate bystander of his rage and anger that he felt toward the Altmer woman, none of this had been Mora’s fault. He’d need to do something to show some kind of remorse for his attitude, that however would not be an easy thing for Neven to do.

Once Neven caught back up to his fellow Mage he said in a hushed toward that sounded more forced than it should have been ”Mora, I don’t work all that well with others.” Neven let out a laugh and continued ”Like I really need to tell you that, its plan as day ain’t it? I just can’t abide incompetence and the events that have transpired so far in this cave have not improved my outlook of this guild. Maybe I’ll never be able to discard my Telvanni upbringing…” Neven trailed off his train of thought drifting back to his home land. Maybe he should have stayed in Morrowind and continued his study Mer magic from the confines of his mushroom tower. He had enough family wealth to hire people to bring him samples of Ayleid artifacts. Neven returned his attention to the matter at hand, ”Maybe I shouldn’t look at the guild as a whole, but at the individual level. From what I’ve seen you show competence needed to become a truly powerful mage.” Hopefully Mora would understand that this was Neven’s attempt at making up for his unpleasant demeanor, and his thanks that she would save his hide if something bad were to transpire.

As they continued back up the path that lead to the cave’s entrance, Neven noticed that Mora’s attention was not on the path ahead and possible loot that they might find, but instead she seemed to be studying the cavern’s walls. ”What exactly do you hope to find by staring at the walls?”

Neven stopped after hearing what Mora had to say, causing the wood elf to step forward a couple of steps before coming to a halt to look back at what was holding her companion. She actually held her breath for a moment, recalling the last time she had tried to give her words of wisdom. Coraline had berated her. Mora wasn't sure she could deal with another such reaction with as much poise. When she first formulated the words in her head, all she really expected Neven to do was shrug and keep going or something to that effect. Now she was sure he would say something belittling or sarcastic. Instead, he seemed to be doing his best to seem more friendly. Of course, his best still managed to come across as arrogant, but he was lucky that Mora was a perceptive person who could pick out the intent of his words rather than their actual face value. And he did compliment her, which was always nice - even for such an even-headed Mer as herself. Her lips turned upward in a slight but genuine smile, a fleeting, beautiful thing that brightened her features and softened the angles of her face that were often too serious. "Thank you," she said simply. Then all traces of her smile were replaced by her more common, serene and serious expression.

Later down the cave, Mora threw a look over he shoulder as the dark elf questioned what she was doing. One of her shoulders turned upward in a half shrug as she spoke. "I'm hoping there's a secret door. Goblin leaders - the smarter ones - have the capacity and cunning. I'm thinking there's quite a powerful one somewhere around here. Would explain the cohesiveness of the Goblins in this area. I mean, normally they would just kill someone and not bother with trapping them as they have Marlones." She squinted at a small crack in the wall, but shook her head. "A secret passageway would be a good escape route should anything bad happen to make the Goblin leader want to flee. Or something that would hide his valuable loot."

Hakon Vermundr

Hakon stood panting over the corpse of the defeated Shaman, trying to regain some composure before entering the fray once more. Having a helmet on tended to deafen one to their surroundings, especially when one breathed as heavy as he did. The fact his heart was on overdrive and causing a thump within his helmet didn’t help either. When he turned around he was almost disappointed that the fight was over but that feeling quickly subsided in favor of getting his breath back. Once he was certain all the nearby goblins were dead, as he did not keep track of the Chieftain he did not know that it lived still, he sheathed his sword and offered a small nod towards each of the females in recognition of their skill before letting out a long breath. Eliya brought him further back into reality, as he had almost forgotten that the wizard still lived, when she asked for the key. “Right, shouldn’t be hard to find…unfortunately.” He had always despised searching Goblins, mostly because they almost never wore pants but also because of how vile they felt. When he was finished turning the creature over he brought the key to Eliya as carefully as he could so that his still calming nerves would not cause him to drop the key if he ran in a hurry.

When the wizard was released the Nord had hoped that he would be too tired to care for whatever was here and they could all leave while the getting was good. As usual, that did not happen. When the man passed by Hakon, the Nord smiled at the man’s mannerisms. Had he been paying more attention perhaps he could have caught the man before he fell, something that made Hakon wince inwardly. “Sir, with all due respect perhaps you should let me heal you? I know a few spells, perhaps they could help?” His question seemed to answer itself as the wizard brought himself up without a complaint, only mentioning that he wanted the staff. “The Shaman’s staff? I’ll get it for you, sir.”

He slowly backed away from the group before turning his back on them to head for the Shaman. Thankfully the staff was easy to find as it had not moved far away from the corpse of its last owner. Picking it up, Hakon brushed off any dirt and grime that had accumalted on it for the old wizards benefits before returning back to the group. “Is this the staff? If it is, sorry about any nicks.” He held out the staff with one hand, the other starting to feel the weight of the shield. “I don’t see why you’d be interested in this. Doesn’t the Mages Guild provide better quality staffs?”

As Coraline started to raise herself off the stone floor, her breathing became debilitated. The side of her ribs felt sensitive. She used her right hand to feel her side and as she did a sharp pain lingered some as she put some pressure on her wound. Peering around the room all was quite. The goblins were dead and Eliya was searching around with Harkon for the key to the cage. Her next check was where she landed. A rock rested underneath where her back was and she realized that she had cracked a rib on the fall. Her Daedra soon vanished in a hazy blur. There was only the four of them in the room now, Marlones, Eliya, Harkon and herself.

Pulling the soles of her feet to the ground, she pulled herself up with one hand, the other still on her side. She didn't want to seem weak so she tried to play it off as if she were just itching it even though it caused some distress to herself. She heard the cage swing open as she resheathed her sword. Walking over to the rest of her group she listened to what the man speak. He seemed grateful that they had come to rescue him. His posture was slightly bent over and his hands were clasped together as if he here doing some sort of pray. Coraline couldn't help but smile at him. He seemed nice even when he came around to her and was surprised that someone so short had come with the party that rescued him. Though she wasn't surprised, she had been getting that a lot lately. lt had first become annoying, then frustrating and then finally she just started to care less and less about it. Though when he did think she was seven she did get a little agitated. ''
l'm fifteen, good ser.'' she said crossing her arms over her chest, her side still feeling inflamed though she was still able to crack a smile. ''Though more importantly, are you alright?'' But Harkon, who spoke of healing him, she would let take over. She only knew of one healing spell, and that was only to aid her self.

She seemed to have pulled her own weight in this fight so she hoped that Eliya and Harkon would vouch for her in the future. That's all she would want really, someone to back her up on little unexpected conversational confrontations. As she listened to Marlones though, he seemed more worried about this staff he spoke of then actually getting out of here alive. That wasn't part of the plan. Or at least she thinks it wasn't. All she recalls is getting the captive out alive and returning him back to the Academy in one piece or the mission would be forfeit. She turned to Eliya, the leader they had seemed chosen for the trio ''
The staff seems a like a byproduct of the task. We weren't sent here for that, should we just leave?''

Harkon took it upon himself to look around the room in search of the staff. Although it was a little nicked and splintered, she had a feeling that wasn't the one he was talking about. They had only cleared a few rooms out of the cave. Some caves were large enough for people to get lost in for days if not weeks if they didn't find their way back out. She was ill prepared for a long stay in such a cavern and did not want to resort to eating rats and drinking dirty water. ''
l think we should just make our leave to the exit to make sure he's safe then backtrack to find the other two. lf we find this staff, we'll hand it over but l think it would be a waste of time to go exploring for something that the guild provides.'' she tried to sound mature but still light in conversation. She had a feeling that he wasn't telling them everything. Shaman Staffs were a bit powerful but since they were rare, they were worth quite a lot. She didn't want to say this fact out loud while he was here so she was going to wait till he was safely out of earshot.

Eliya ~

Eliya simply nodded in response to the Wizard's thanks, and even if she had wanted to interrupt with a word edgewise she wasn't sure she would have had the chance. Marlones went quickly from appreciation to rambling chatter and Eliya had to fight the automatic desire to tune out his words. He had some thoughts about the mage's guild sending out Hakon and Coraline, something Eliya knew she and a few others had thoughts about as well, but he was surprisingly quiet about the red headed Altmer. Not that she minded. She knew she fit a mage's guild associate's description. Her green eyes gaze shifted to her companions faces, watching their response to the seemingly somewhat perhaps unstable former prisoner's words.

Neither Coraline nor Hakon seemed particularly offended, but perhaps the loss of energy from battle only moments before had something to do with it, or perhaps not. Eliya did not know and decided quickly that it didn't really matter. What mattered was getting Marlones safely and efficiently back to the Arcane University. And that did not include chasing after a staff that......abruptly things clicked. There was another one. One what? Goblin? Wizard? Chief? Was he talking about the chief that was missing? But then why would a chief have a staff that Marlones supposedly came for.

Eliya didn't like the way things seemed like they might go. She needed to cut this off quickly. Even as Hakon and Coraline spoke, voicing similar thoughts, Eliya intercepted their words unifying them, before Marlones decided otherwise. Of course if he wouldn't come with them, they couldn't just hog tie him up and gag him. He was a respected elder of the mage's guild....."Sir," Eliya spoke with as much respect and deference as possible under the circumstances, but still managed to keep a firmness to her voice. "We have slaughtered over a dozen goblins on our way here to rescue you, and there may be more within these caves, we have not explored them fully. It is most prudent that we safely escort you back to the sanctuary of the University. We simply do not have time to run around and search for your staff." She didn't feel the need to point out that it was just a staff, since both of her companions had already done so. But even as she was finishing speaking, a nagging reminder tugged at her brain and forced her to speak again, even as she finished. "You mentioned another?"

------->MARLONES<-------

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx While Hakon was setting off to retrieve the staff, Marlones turned back to the child, who was correcting him about her age. “Fifteen?” He asked, squinting at Coraline studiously. “A babe by even human standards. Where are your parents, lass? Ah, well, I suppose the guild knew what they were doing. I saw that monster you summoned. Quite the handy spell.” His words were good natured and mostly seemed thoughtless. Which they were, really. Marlones wasn't really capable of such complex, deliberate communication. He spoke his mind and couldn't keep a secret about himself or others. Even if he wanted to. “I'm fine. A little stiff. People should really learn to not trap old men in cages like that.” He stretched, his bones audibly popping and creaking, it made him wince a little, but it was obviously something he was used to.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The old man eyed the staff that was brought before him, a look of slight confusion flickering across his features. “A fine staff, I'm sure, but certainly not the one I was looking for.” Marlones informed the hulking Nord seriously. It looked like he was about to continue, but the redhead elf interjected with questions and statements that were more to the point. Marlones blinked at her, and continued to say what he was going to say anyway. “No, the staff I want is in the possession of the leader. The Goblins think its holy or something, because they follow the man and do what he says. He's like, the King of Goblins. It's fascinating. I must have it!” He said, visibly excited. “And there was something about curtailing the goblin presence in Cyrodiil. I think that might have been my original mission. Did the guild say something about it? Maybe they haven't. Did I tell them about the staff? Or the other wizard? My memory isn't what it used to be.”

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx He sort of began to ramble on after that, obviously not taking to anyone in particular anymore. The party would probably find most of what he said inaudible, except maybe a couple words here and there about the staff and how it possibly functioned.
