Riley let out an exaggerated sigh, and shrugged. I hope so. For their sake, more than my own. The situation in this school is dire, and I know it won't be an easy task to help keep it safe and well balanced. I would hate to see someone falling asleep on the job.

Burn.

Riley gave Jericho a quick squeeze, meeting his eyes as he tensed. She could feel the moment he let himself relax, and took a deep breath in response.

She turned her head when she heard Christof's voice, but all she saw behind her were posters scattered all over the floor. She blinked, trying to reach out for the patchwork's mind, but he had scampered off too far. She slumped just slightly in disappointment.

Roch motioned for Xiu to come closer, munching on another spookie as he did so. "Can I ask a favor?" he asked quietly. "It's got nothin' to do with what we talked about earlier. That can wait for someplace... more private," he drawled, seeing as he was on a jackin' STAGE pretty much. "I asked Junko on groanspring if there was a baking club or some sort of baking group, cuz I got this friend. Her name's Taryn, she likes to bake too, but... well... she's really shy, it seems."

He looked at her expectantly, as if just waiting for her to finish the idea for him.

"Or someone who will just delegate." Invictus added. Conquest never asked someone to do something that he himself was not at least capable of doing - even if he wasn't as good at it. He had to make sure he wasn't completely helpless after all. He wouldn't have delegated the task of at-home defense to Riley if he wasn't capable of putting one together himself.

That and Riley needed to be blooded just a wee bit. Okay, Invictus just wanted to see how she'd handle it and possibly grin maniacally behind closed doors.

"You have no idea..." he answered to Jericho, that faint smile forming on his lips, looking almost twisted. Almost. But surely most of that messy Insanity was working out of his system by then, wasn't it? Oh, it probably wasn't. Conquest just had to be in control of himself just as much as he was of those around him.

"If nothing else, you know how to keep it lively about you."

"That's for sure," agreed Jericho, regarding the comment Riley made about sleeping on the job. Barth seemed like a nice guy and all, but he definitely put the Mindflayer ahead for something like this.

That smile Invictus wore on his face... there was something unnerving about it. Though he had relaxed considerably, there was still something about him that he didn't like all too much. Perhaps it was just the fact that Conquest had been incredibly careless with his friends on the island. That... and he remembered what he had done to Riley as well.

Things seemed to have changed, but a part of Jericho was having some trouble getting past that right now, especially when he saw a grin like that.

Jove cowered, just a little, as though he were about to be crushed under the fist of that frightening Reaper, and the hand on his shoulder made him jump backwards yet again, giving the booth a gentle bump with his back. And then as if things couldn't get worse, that crazy horseman from the island showed up.

But... None of the aforementioned students seemed inclined to beat him to a pulp, so the little wisp managed to avoid crawling under Riley's booth to hide. Although he imagined it would be such a calm, dark, comfortable place... He calmed down the more he was ignored, and felt the urge to flee slowly disappear. Perhaps that was one good thing about being barely chest high on most of the other students, it was easy for them to overlook his presence. Literally.

He glanced back over his shoulder to make sure he hadn't ruffled anything on the booth, and noticed the tentacled cannon cat had moved closer. It was a sign. Jove took it with the slightest little tail wag, if anyone asked he could always insist it was for one of his pets.

Though she did seem a little nervous, she gave an almost imperceptible shake of her head, smiling at Shun's offer. "T-thank you. I...I'm sure that it's nothing really, so...so I should be fine." It was really reassuring to know that he was around, though.

Fortunately, it really wasn't anything for her to be concerned about (though when Roch mentioned speaking to her eventually about what they discussed, her face did take on a redder shade). The actual thing that he wanted to talk about, though..."T-Taryn? I...remember seeing her in some of our classes." She definitely seemed like a sweet ghoul! And shy, yes, as Roch had said.

"I could talk to Junko about possibly starting up a baking club," The Baku mused, so caught up in the idea that she no longer seemed uncomfortable around the reaper, "There are a couple of other people I know who would be interested as well." Why not? It would be a good idea for everyone to get together. And if not an official club, then an unofficial little group would be just as good.

The gears in her mind started turning, but she broke out those thoughts when another idea popped into her mind. "Oh! Why don't you give Taryn my number the next time you see her? I'd like to bake with her sometime."

He gave her a broad, blatantly adoring grin for that. "Thank you, Xiu. Have I told you how amazing you are? Taryn and you, you guys will get along great!" he told her, positive of that fact. "Plus, all those awesome bakers all in the same room, jackDAMN am I looking forward to that! We're talkin' mooncakes and spookies and crepes and--"

He reached up, wiping drool off of his chin. "I can help if you put something together! I'm good for heavy lifting and taste testing!"

Riley gave Roch a quick look, before nodding in agreement with Invictus. I do like to keep things lively. I regret that I won't be shooting off my cannon this time around, but then again, my nerves are a little on edge. The music is a much better alternative for getting attention. Our talented guitarist volunteered to help me out - he is certainly doing a wonderful job.

Of course, he was doing a wonderful job of chatting up Xiu, at the moment. Riley's keen eye watched, just barely perceiving the body language and mood, before turning away and reaching for the plate of broken cookies.

Mmm. Xiu makes the best cookies. I don't know what I did to deserve her donation to my booth, but I've got to remember to do it more often. I could eat them all day, and I would be a happy mindflayer.

That ghost pup was still there, silent as the grave, and clutching the plush she'd put down for him. She gave him an odd look, before one of her tentacles slowly passed the plate his way. Riley? Sharing her sweets? Call the boogeymen.

She blushed at the compliment, but her expression eventually turned into a grin as he promptly launched off into listing desserts. Yup, same ol' Roch. "I...I'll let you know if we end up starting up a club or a group then, okay?" He definitely seemed excited about the food possibilities that would come out of such a club.

A brief glance to the side determined that Riley had been looking their way. Tensing up immediately, Xiu realized that the reaper was probably supposed to be playing more music now instead of chatting with her. She quickly cleared her throat. "A-anyways, I...will leave you to your playing! U-um...please pass that message on to Taryn for me!" She shot him a smile, and then quickly skittered back to where Shun was standing. When she reached him, the Baku let go of the breath she was holding.

"That...that wasn't too bad."

Invictus wouldn't have expected any of the students to truly trust him. Riley may have been the only one who realized that on that island full of madness, the Horsemen had been at odds with those 'reapers' for years. Years. Not that Invictus had a choice after that first burst of curiosity from him and the other heirs.

Though they were gluttons for punishment, given that they'd gone off to the Co-Ed bathroom just to see what it was and ended up in another one of those 'fight things' scenarios. It was great. Conquest might have enjoyed the idea of battling a touch more than he'd ever admit to - he did like to try and keep things amicable as much as possible.

"A much more humble approach, Lady Mindflayer." Invictus said, a light amount of praise in his voice. Certainly it was easy to overwhelm people, it was better to keep it simple.

Oh, Roch was in a GOOD mood. That had been great, not only had she calmed down and smiled for him, he had arranged for the equivalent of heaven in Halloween to happen pretty soon, knowing his Xiu. Ahhh, man was he looking forward to this baking club. Even if he had had to cut back on eating, a spookie or cupcake once in a while wouldn't kill him!

His good mood showed with the next song he picked, and the fact that he even stood to play it. It was upbeat and excited, different subtly from the things he'd been playing before. He even did a bit of slap picking where the drum should have been in Bulldog Bite.

Everyone was eating sweets BUT Charlie? The demon honestly hadn't even noticed. He'd been to busy dancing to try to attract attention to Rileys booth. Honestly, he really enjoyed dancing for Riley, or really just dancing. Even if he was a goof.

But the spookies and other treats did catch his attention. Charlie paused and stared at the plate Riley was holding out to the pup student. Sweets. So many sweets.

But he did have a promise he had to keep.

But sweets.

Charlie found him self wandering over to the plate and the ghost puppy in a trance like way.

I'd like to think so. Riley was starting to get just a little too interested in the goings on around her, and she hardly wanted to insult Invictus by speaking with him while she was distracted, so she turned fully to him and gave him a charming expression. Would you excuse me for a moment? Xiu, my darling. Can I borrow you here for a second? She held her hand out to the ghoul hiding behind Shun in a rather unexpected move since she hadn't really been speaking to her.

She led Xiu away, behind the booth, out of earshot - leaving the cookies unguarded. Charlie would never get a better chance than this moment.

Love the music, Roch. You are a gift. She complimented with a gentle, but knowing look, as she led Xiu away.

The request was indeed one that the Baku had not been expecting. Xiu glanced up at Shun uncertainly for a moment before reaching out, resting her hand on Riley's outstretched one. "Y-yes, of course." She smiled, though there was a faint confusion visible in her eyes. What could the mindflayer want to speak to her about? Making more spookies, perhaps?

That was the only possible explanation to her, at least.

She allowed herself to be led away, her gaze flickering quickly towards Roch when the mindflayer addressed him. Almost just as quickly, she looked away, waiting until they were a distance away before she dared to speak. "W...what may I do for you, Riley?"

Riley caught that. Then again, Riley caught everything.

Once they were out of earshot, Riley pulled one of the chairs back from around the booth, and held it out for Xiu. You are nervous. She pressed her hand against the ghoul's arm, brushing it in comfort. And that makes me nervous. Tell me what's wrong? Maybe I can help.

Xiu had been hiding behind Shun, a fact Riley felt was worth worrying about. Who would hide behind Shun, anyway? Whatever this problem was, it was probably his fault to begin with.
