Relieved the conversation had moved on, the hunchback nodded, eager to help. He shifted beside the Sloth demon just like how they had practiced during their experiments, holding out his left hand to press it against the side of the engine. Brows furrowed, his coat shuddered as the small spikes cut through the fabric, energized with Fear.

Barth continued to concentrate on the device. The engine, the parts, the wires, and himself...Christof beside him, and most importantly, the latent Fear in the sum of those parts. They had all been old, other devices, other substances, and now they were a coherent whole, with the purpose of transport. To Go. Proceed.
And save him the work of doing it himself.
Easier, he urged. Unwind, let go, release.
Black thorns began to snake up his boots. The buggy's tank bubbled. The engine beneath his claws started to feel...awake.

Christof exhailed slowly, eyes still closed as he concentrated, more and more of his own claw-like thorns creeping along his arm the more he focused. The sound of the engine gurgling to life, his eyes opened again, glancing sharply to Barth with a look of excitement. Was it working??

Barth grinned sharply back. He did not notice the thorns, which quietly dried and withered, peeling away from his boots and shriveling back into the ground.
"Feel like a drive?"

He was tingling all over, and it wasn't just from the crawling of Fear in the air as Christof's mouth twisted into a grin. He nodded just once before wobbling to his feet to move the tools out of the way.
It was for Master Barth that he waited by the passenger's side as though holding open a door he imagined was there, flourished with an excited little bow of his head.

"Thank you, Christof," Barth said, much preferring (even on the test run) to be chauffeured. He accepted his coat back from Christof, and folding it in his lap, began the slow process of fastening his seatbelt.
Even without the ignition, the buggy was starting to purr.
...Or was that a growl?

Oblivious to the ominous noise eminating from the engine, Christof hurried around to the Driver's Side and slipped into his seat. This was it. His hands reverently went to the stearing wheel, the third reaching for the ignition. Their project complete. Ready to run, ready to drive, ready to fl-
Before he could so much as touch the dashboard, the machine surged forward, flattening him to his seat and it was all he could do to hold onto the wheel. The engine revved and roared, and seemed to have it's own agenda completely.

Barth hadn't been expecting a smooth, gradual, dignified start from Christof, but being thrown backwards into the seat followed by a horrible unclicking from the seatbelt and a snappy left, then right didn't give Barth time to expect anything besides holding on.
"Err, Chris-" He fought to look at the driver, taking advantage of a sudden stomach-lurching pitch of gravity in that direction, but everything was a heavy blur as they whirled into violent donuts.

Christof glanced over to Barth with a look of terror and a pointed, "HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMM!" as he stomped repetitively on the breaks, but to no avail, finally throwing his hands up to show he was certainly not the one in control. No sooner had he done so then the thing swerved again with a howling whir, and he had to grab onto the wheel again to not be thrown out.

Barth was slammed into the none-too-secure siding, and then back into Christof, and forward again. He tried not to impale or chip anything important. The vehicle did not seem headed for anywhere in particular, but all Barth could see was occasional glimpses of the gloomy October grass.

Christof was very aware of the tree rushing up at them at worrisome speed- fortunately, though, the Doom Buggy decided that was the perfect time for a sharp turn that hefted the contraption up on two wheels, seats leaping to throw the Sloth out the open doorway. The larger hunchback proved more difficult, the wheels landing heavily as it sped into a swerve, shaking like a wet dog until he went tumbling to the grass.

Barth rolled to a stop. The Doom Buggy, unfortunately, did not, speeding forward with Christof still on board. Being relaxed helped with getting thrown from things, but it still wasn't ideal.
He pried himself from the ground, too focused on getting up before he was run over to notice that Christof had been thrown too.

Christof wailed, frantically waving his hands- well, at least two and a half arms as he scrambled to his own feet, lurching towards him as the monstrosity rolled around, picking up speed to easily zoom alongside him.

There was a creak of metal as the grill gnashed and bent, as if desperately trying to become teeth but not quite managing it. The headlights glowed with sinister intent, and the grumbling from the engine had become a loud roar. It gunned the engine another time while veering to take a snap at Christof.
"Up!" Barth suggested loudly, still working on gaining his feet.

The Igor didn't need to be commanded, nor told twice before he lurched past the Sloth at his top-speed, left arm just a tad riddled with it's small hooked spikes in his anxiety as it extended out to grab Barth around the middle. The alternative was facing the Doom Buggy, hopefully Barth wouldn't mind. He couldn't drag him, the rampaging mini-car had leaped between them and the tree the moment he caught sight of it- too slow too slow!
This was why asymmetry in parts was not ideal! He would have told his Creator that, if e wasn't so terrified of the repressions. Still dragging Barth behind him like a tall gangly ragdoll, He rolled out of the way of twisting metal and whirling tires, scrambling up again with Barth safely tossed on his hunch. UP! If Up wasn't over there...
