Journal entry - 5th April 2005
So much for a relaxing trip to the springs.. Figured I'd go for a soak and take Osu with me - he hadn't seen the springs in the centre before, and it was the first time I was using them properly myself. So, got there, and Alyosha and Kiro were there already.
The guy that Nyxa had been talking about - the one with the metal arm - he showed up and introduced himself, and so did Syrenrei. Was pretty busy there - I hadn't expected many people there at all. Alyosha started messing about with the water, and I shocked him just to get my own back. All just a bit of harmless fun. Then Syrenrei came into the male section. She got all worked up about my being naked, so I ended up in a slight argument with her. I don't see what's wrong with wearing nothing, especially in a bath of all places. She's got a hell of a lot of weird ideas for someone with youkai blood anyway...

At least Osu seemed to enjoy himself. He likes splashing about in the water - it's just another way for him to make a mess. I see that Sy's looking after a little gryphon now too - a bright blue one. Looks like one of those big birds that you get in fancy human gardens... peacocks.. peafowl..? I didn't really get much of a chance to see how well the two Aerandir got on - was too busy arguing the point with Sy. Ah, well. We'll just need to see if she talks to me when I next see her. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't...

A rather small and flat gift, wrapped in brown paper and tied with string, is left on Ieyasu's porch. On top is a note rolled up and tucked under the string so that the wind won't blow it away.

Sy
Ieyasu, many thanks for helping me move into my house. I got some lanterns while I was working and thought that you and Osusuki might enjoy this one as a sign of our gratitude.

Inside the simply wrapped package is a hanging lantern...

Upon seeing the package as they approached the house, Osu paused, giving a curious little chirrup before tearing off towards it. Abruptly slowing as he reached the porch, he pranced around the little packet before giving it a nudge with his beak.

Ieyasu approached after Osusuki, his gaze curious. He wondered what it was,and who had left it. It also probably wasn't a good idea to let Osu throw it about before he knew what was in it."Careful, there. Will we see what's inside?"

Osu trumpeted in reply, nudging the parcel towards Ieyasu. He couldn't open it himself, afterall. Well... maybe he could, but it would take him a while. Besides, he wanted to see what was in it!

Ieyasu sat down on the porch, with Osu immediately beside him. As he picked up the parcel, the little Aerandir placed his paws on the kitsune's knee, craning his neck to get a better look. He was never one to sit back, was he?
Catching sight of the note tucked into the string, Ieyasu pulled it out to read it. Ah. It was from Syrenrei? He'd need to thank her later. Unfastening the string, he opened the paper. Osu chirruped curiously at his knee. Inside, he could see dark waxed paper. Just as well he didn't let Osu open it....
Pulling out the contents, he could see now that it was meant to be a paper lantern. Osu extended his beak towards it, his little ears flicking.

"It's another lantern. See the ones we have up there already? Syrenrei has given us another one."
He smiled at Osu, before pulling up the lantern into it's full proper shape.
"How about we put it up with the others?"

Osu stared at the lantern as it suddenly went from being flat to being spherical. How did it do that!? It changed shape from something little into something big! Now, that was interesting. Chirruping again, he moved his position from Ieyasu's knee, shifting until he was beneath the lantern. He nudged at the base of the lantern with his head, curious. Well.. it was light anyway. He could probably break it if he tried. Not that he deliberately wanted to. He backed off a little, allowing Ieyasu to stand up. Was it one of the hanging things that lit up then? He wanted to see that. Calling shrilly again, he moved around the back of Ieyasu, giving a single flap of his wings.

Ieyasu grinned down at Osu again before turning to head inside with the lantern. Before he could put it up, he'd have to set another nail in the wooden eave that held the other lanterns. He'd go sort that out now.

With the new lantern hung up next to the others, Ieyasu was preparing something to eat. He had lit the indoor lanterns, since it was now pitch black outside, and they were giving off a soft glow. Osu was cavorting around the living area, occassionally emitting little merping sounds.

With the big black pot suspended from the hook above the cooking pit, Ieyasu was starting the fire beneath. Soon, he had the flames crackling merrily. Dinner wouldn't take too long at this rate. He lifted the cover from the pot to check the contents

Hearing the crackles and the pops coming from behind the screen, Osu tilted his head, trilling curiously. Inquisitive as ever, he headed over to the rice paper screen, sticking his little head around the side to see what Ieyasu was doing. His guardian was kneeling on the floor next to that funny hole in the ground that always looked black and dusty. But now.. it wasn't black and dirty. There was orange and yellow and red flares coming from it. They danced, they twirled, and they looked really interesting! Taking a step forward, the little Aerandir ruffled his wings, craning his head at the cook fire curiously. He wanted to know what it was!

Noticing that Osu had decided to investigate, Ieyasu turned to the gryphon, grinning at him. "Careful there. Don't get too close - it's burning hot." He'd have to keep an eye on him if Osu was going to get under his feet.

Hmm.. there wasn't enough water in the pot. It would need some more before the food burned in the bottom. Pushing himself up, he turned to the low table. He'd brought some fresh water in earlier.. now where was it?

The second that Ieyasu had turned his back on the cookpot, Osu took his opportunity. Darting in towards the flaming pit, he tilted his head again, only watching it for the briefest moment before deciding to see what it felt like. It didn't look solid afterall, and he wanted to know what it was. His paw darted out for the flames.

When he heard the shriek from behind him, Ieyasu spun around, spilling half of the canteen of water on the floor in the process. Osu had leapt back from the flames and was standing next to the screen, one paw held up in the air with faint smoky tendrils rising from his fur. The smell of singed hair filled the little room.
Ah.. dammit! Should have known not to turn my back...stupid kitsune! Concerned, and berating himself for being careless, the kitsune quickly covered the few paces over to the little gryphon and crouched down next to him, trying to see exactly how badly he had hurt himself. It looked like he'd just stuck his paw into the flames, as that was the only part that seemed singed. With the water canteen still in his hand, and Osu still yelping, he up-ended the container over the gryphon's foreleg. He'd have to find more water to stop the burn from going deeper..
"Ah, Osu, I told you it was burning...it'll be alright. We'll just get some more water on that - it'll make it feel better."

How did that happen!? How did the pretty dancing colours make him hurt like that!? Osu wailed, his trumpets high pitched and rather loud. The water felt good for just a moment, but then the heat and the burning in his paw returned. He shrieked again as Ieyasu picked him up, despite his guardians attempts to reassure him. It hurt!

The nearest half decent source of cold water was the bamboo fountain outside. Nudging the door open, Ieyasu carried the gryphon out onto the porch, before carefully setting him down in the deer chaser. Luckily, he wasn't any bigger than he was, else this wouldn't have worked.
"Now, if you put your paw down in that, and keep it there, it'll feel better soon. Just hold it there as long as you can."

Gingerly, Osu set his injured leg down carefully into the running water. The water before had made him feel better for just a moment. And anything was better than the burning. He could feel the water sucking the heat out of it. In fact, it almost felt better already. Quietening down after a few moments, he looked up at Ieyasu, before moving to lift his paw back out again.

"No, no. Keep it there. The longer you stand there, the better." Ieyasu glanced back indoors briefly. He could see the kitchen from here, and was just making sure that the fire was alright. Last thing he wanted was for the house to burn down too. He'd have to start over with dinner too, once he'd made sure that Osu was ok.

Chirruping dejectedly again, the little gryphon set his foot back. Tonight, he had learned a valuable lesson: fire burns.

Journal entry- 18th April 2005
I've been neglecting this journal the past couple of days, really. Oops. I'd better catch up on what's been happening lately. Although, with one or two major exceptions, not all that much has been going on.

Osusuki managed to burn himself the other day, by deciding to find out what the cookfire felt like. I felt really bad about it - I should have known better than to turn my back, even for a split second. He's regretting it now, though I think. The burn itself isn't bad, it's just the fact that it's on one of his paws - it means he can't charge about like he usually does. But I met Foenix, who kindly offered to make up a salve for him. Hopefully, that will help. That reminds me - I need to look out some ribbon for her.

Haven't done much else, really. Sy moved into the island a few days before Osu burnt himself. She has an Aerandir to look after now too, and sent up a nice lantern to thank us for helping her. Shes a little volatile and confusing at times, but really, she's alright.

Closing the journal over, Ieyasu glanced over at Osu, who was ripping a little fillet of fish into tiny slivers, before swallowing them down. He'd be occupied a little longer with that - he could probably afford to head out onto the porch for a moment for a quick smoke. He left the journal on the table, heading towards the door with a cigarette in his hand. Leaving it ajar, he headed out onto the porch. Where he noticed a little bottle sitting on the decking, along with a note:

Ieyasu-
As promised, here's that burn salve I used on my own kid. Apply twice a day to the burn, and then wrap with a clean bandage. Do this until the burn has healed. We enjoyed seeing you the other day, and hope that Osu is better soon!
~Foenix and Nehanda

Ah, Foenix had been as good as her word. Crouching down beside the bottle and paper, he lifted the note, scanning over it quickly. Good stuff. He'd see to it after Osu had finished his meal and he had finished his cigarette. Setting the bottle back down again, he patted his pockets and found a half-empty book of matches. Striking a light, he lit the cigarette and sat on the porch, his gaze thoughtful as he stared out at the village.

Ieyasu headed back indoors, the little bottle in his hand.

Osu looked up from the messy remains of the fish, a little piece of the white flesh stuck to his beak. He chirruped cheerfully at Ieyasu, before tilting his head curiously at the bottle. What was that? Leaving the rest of the fish scattered in little pieces over the kitchen floor, he came closer to investigate.

"It's a present from Foenix and Nehanda. It'll help to make your burn better." Ieyasu headed into the kitchen area to prepare some clean bandages. Setting the bottle down on the low table, he rooted around until he had found some fresh cloth. Then, collecting the greenish looking salve again, he returned through to the living area. Coming over next to Osu, he sat down on the ground. "Will we see about changing your bandage then?" He scooped the little gryphon up. If the previous times were anything to go by, the Aerandir would wriggle, disliking being held in the one place for too long.

Osu trumpted again as he was lifting, shifting himself about in Ieyasu's lap, before reaching up to nudge his guardian in the chest. Then, he turned his attention towards the bottle, craning his long neck out towards it. He wondered what was inside it. Ieyasu had said something about Nehanda and Foenix...

Setting the gryphon back around again, he began to unwrap the bandage. Osu twitched a little, wanting to inspect the bottle more closely, but not able to move with Ieyasu holding him still. He protested a little, calling audibly. "It's just for a minute - surely you can sit still for that long." Grinning faintly, Ieyasu shook his head. No patience.
Discarding the old bandage to one side, he checked the burn. It looked a little better, but judging by the fact that Osu still wasn't up to full speed, it was still hurting him a little.
He picked up the little bottle, examining it before opening the stopper. Osu took a great interest in it too, nudging at the glass with his beak. "Hold still there.. this needs to go on your paw." The gryphon held (just about) still long enough for him to apply most of the salve.

Osu wondered what Ieyasu was doing. What was the green stuff? He had said it would help, but what exactly was it. It smelled different to anything he'd ever encountered before. And it looked like he was done too. Chirruping again, Osu pulled his paw free, setting it down on Ieyasu's shorts. He had only said to stay still long enough for him to put on that funny green stuff anyway. He didn't say anything about afterwards. After leaving a big green pawprint on his guardian's shorts, he moved to jump down onto the floor. And was promptly caught again. Aww! Ieyasu caught on!

"Hey, hey. I'm not finished yet. Got to put on a new bandage first." Ieyasu vaguely wondered if the green stuff would wash out as he picked up the new bandage, holding the gryphon still with his other hand. Osu merped at him, as if telling him to hurry up. Yeah, yeah, I know. "I'd be done quicker if you didn't jump about, you know." Osu tilted his head at him as if in reply, chirruping again. But at least he managed to put on the bandage. Finishing up, he let go of the Aerandir, heading into the kitchen area to wash up.
"There. Now you can jump about if you so wish. Now, do you want to help me look for some ribbon for Foenix and Nehanda?"

Osu chirruped again in reply, prancing (albeit somewhat clumsily) around his guardians legs. Sure! He could do that!

Hm.. where to start looking? Ieyasu didn't think he had any ribbons immediately kicking about. If he did have any, he'd probably have them stashed away somewhere.. ah, he knew just the place!

Heading over to the ladder leading up into the bedroom, he rooted about underneath it, with Osu sticking his head curiously through the rungs. After a moment, he found what he was looking for - a wooden box that was perhaps around a foot square, with a sliding lid. It was a box for "stuff". Anything random and small that he'd found or been given over the last few decades had ended up in here.

Bringing the box through to the living area, he set it down on the table and sat down. Osu carefully placed his front paws on the lip of the table, rising up on his hind legs to get a better look. He chirruped curiously, nudging at the box with his beak.
"Let's see what we've got here then.." Sliding back the lid, Ieyasu then began to look through the contents. Damn, he had a lot of crap in here.

A reel of black thread. A large iridescant green feather. A green charm stone, with a lightening bolt engraved on the front (so that's where that went). A large fang, from the looks of it from some big dog or cat. A faded photograph, of himself and a girl - kitsune too from the ears and tails (when was that taken?). A seashell (what the hell?). A paper fan, with a bamboo design on it. A pale blue gemstone. And, tangled through it all were four ribbons.

There was one last thing in the box. A small golden pendant, unassuming in form. Ieyasu stared at it for a moment, wondering why he had that in there. He should have destroyed that, or thrown it away or something - it had caused him that much trouble several years ago. Grimacing, he shoved it to the bottom, before pulling out the ribbons.

Meanwhile, Osu busied himself with examining all the little funny objects that had come out of the box. The fang was interested. He picked it up with the tip of his long beak, knocking it about the table. Then, the ribbons came out. There were four of them, one red, one yellow and two a blue-purple colour. Dropping the fang, Osu trumpeted and made a grab for the red one. Moving back down to the ground again, he twisted around in a circle, the ribbon fluttering around him and tangling up in his wings.

Ieyasu grinned at the antics of the gryphon. Now, he had four and Foenix had said two, hadn't she? Well, it would probably be best to pick the two that were the same colour. Meant he wouldn't have to wrestle the other one from Osu as well. Setting out the two blue ribbons, he packed everything else (aside from the red ribbon that Osu had stolen) back into the box, and got up to store it away under the ladder again.

Returning, he picked up the ribbons. "Right Osu. Let's go give these ribbons to Nehanda and Foenix. Do you want to leave that red one? You can take one of these blue ones for me, if you like."

Chirruping, Osu looked at his red ribbon, and then back up at Ieyasu. Well.... ok. As long as he could have the red ribbon when they got back! He took one of the proffered blue ribbons from his guardian, and pranced proudly over to the door, the little blue strip streaming from his beak. When the door was open, he headed down the path, before turning to see where Ieyasu was. Come on, hurry up!

Journal entry - 1st May 2005
It's been a quiet few days. We found some bits and pieces of ribbon for Nehanda and Foenix, and went to drop them off. They seemed happy with them, so that was good.

Osu has taken a liking to a red ribbon that was with the other two blue ones. He's been parading around with it, getting it tangled up with the furniture and dragging it through the dirt outside. It's getting pretty tatty and horrible now, but he still seems to like it. I'll maybe take a trip to the mainland and see if I can find something else for him to play with. Then I can get that filthy bit of ribbon off of him. I'll need to find someone to look after him while I'm away. Perhaps Nyxa? I'll go and ask her after I finish this. Failing that, I'll need to find someone else.

Speaking of Osu, thanks to the salve that Foenix and Nehanda gave us, his burn is now much better - it looks like it's just about gone completely. He's been charging around like normal, so I'm guessing that he's healed. His fur is starting to grow back on his paw now, after he managed to singe it off - it's still not as long as the rest of the fur on his leg though, so it looks like someone has taken a pair of shears to his foot. Ah well. That won't take long to grow back.
PostPosted: Thu May 05, 2005 1:39 pm

Ieyasu made his way down the path, carrying a number of various bags. He'd had quite a few things to get while he was on the mainland. Not to mention that he'd wound up getting a few bits and pieces that he didn't really need.

He set down a few of the bags on the porch to allow him to open the door. Swinging it open, he picked up the bags again and dumped them down inside. The house seemed so ....quiet. It didn't feel right at all. Ah well. It would be back to the noise and chaos soon enough.

Now, to sort through the bags. He'd picked up some non-essentials - what they tended to call 'luxury items' or some such. Like drink. The party he'd had several weeks ago had cleaned him out. So, one bag held a couple of bottles of whisky, a bottle of white wine and a bottle of rum. Hopefully it wouldn't go as quickly as the last lot. Staple foods, he hadn't really needed, as the village store always had tons of rice and the like.

He'd also picked up a toy or two for Osu, a little maneki neko statue for himself, and a couple of little things to say thanks to Nyxa (as well as wind her up a bit, if he guessed correctly). A final bag held a few other bits and pieces that he'd thought would be useful.

He left most of the bags where they were - he could go tidy them up later. Now, though, he was going to go fetch his charge. He transferred three boxes into one bag, handling two of them rather carefully. He'd almost caused an accident by nearly sitting on one of them on the boat over. Oops. At least they had all made it in one piece though. Stuffing another little packet into the bag, he picked it up and headed back outside, intending on visiting Nyxa's house again.

Journal entry - 10th May 2005
Well, what can I say? I've had an unexpected few days. Let's just say that I've gotten to know Nyxa a lot better, and I'll leave it at that. She agreed to look after Osu while I went to the mainland. He seems to have enjoyed himself there - well, he did have a constant playmate afterall. While at the mainland, I found him a plushie toy to play with. He doesn't seem interested in the ribbon anymore anyway. I'm not surprised really. Another gryphon has got to be more fun than a tatty bit of fabric.

Anyway, he seems to have taken a liking to the toy. He's been dragging it around the floor and jumping all over it. It's nearly the same size as him - it's rather amusing to watch. At least it will help to keep him occupied.
PostPosted: Tue May 10, 2005 10:09 am

Osusuki was having fun with his new toy. Gripping it firmly by the hair, he was having a great time just dragging it about the living area; wrestling with it; throwing it about. It was much bigger than any of the toys that he'd had before. He pausing for a moment, resting briefly on top of the plushie. Tilting his head slightly, he looked around the room for a moment. Ieyasu was banging about in the kitchen area - he didn't know what his guardian was doing, but it was making a nice amount of noise - and the front door was open, just like it usually was. It looked nice and sunny outside. Why didn't he go play out there?

Standing up again, he unfurled his wings, giving them a brief flap before folding them on his back again. Grabbing hold of the red and white plushie again, he began to back out towards the door, his body low to the ground while he pulled on the toy. The stuffed plushie bounced over the floor. It wasn't heavy or anything - just big.

Once he had the plushie outside, he tackled it, rolling over in a flurry of dust and limbs. He tossed it up into the air, only for it to come back down and smack him on the rear. With mock indignance, he trumpeted shrilly at the plushie, before tackling it again. Then, he rolled away from it only to bump into something hard and shiny.

What was that? Ah... it was one of those things that Ieyasu sometimes had. He had seen his guardian drinking from it before - it was sometimes filled with a funny coloured water, and sometimes just ordinary looking water. Leaving the plushie for now, Osu trotted around the bottle, giving it a thorough examination. He wondered how heavy it was. Rising up, he placed his front paws against the side of the bottle, trying to push it over. It fell easily, making a dull 'thunk' and a 'slosh' as the little liquid that was left inside was thrown about. Ieyasu must have forgotten to pick this one up. Nudging at it with his head, Osu rolled the bottle down the path. Yay! It moved quickly! Chasing after it, he stopped it with one of his paws, holding it in one place for a few moments. It wasn't as cuddly as his new present.

Unknown to Osu, he had rolled the bottle near to a small, withered plant on the path. With the sun glaring overhead, and the bottle acting as a focus for the light, a slender tendril of smoke soon began to rise from the little dried up plant.

What.. what happened there!? What's going on!? What did he do? Osu gave a start as he saw the smoke and the tiny little lick of flame. Rushing over to it, he crouched on his belly, staring at the little flaming plant. He remembered what happened to him the last time he touched fire all too well. He wasn't touching this one.

Fortunately, the little sprout was isolated enough from any nearby flammables that no more caught alight. Instead, after a few moments, the plant blackened and crumbled, leaving nothing more than a little pile of ashes on the path. Osu chirruped curiously before getting up and moving over to inspect the ashes. How had that happened?

Stepping into the focus of the glass, he realised that the ground was much hotter here. Strange things were happening. In fact, the ground all the way up to the glass bottle was warmer than the rest, if not as warm as the first spot. What was the bottle doing?? He couldn't quite figure it out. He didn't even know if the shiny bottle was actually doing anything - it was just odd really. Maybe he should go back to playing with his plushie. Yeah, he'd do that.

Trotting back over to the stuffed toy again, he dragged it away from the bottle before resuming his play with it.

It was pleasant outside. Not that that was overly surprisingly. Ieyasu had gone outside, with one intention: to laze about. He had settled himself on the wooden porch, a short distance away from the front door. He really didn't want to relax right next to the door, as the deer chaser was there. It was fine when you were a little way from it - the sound wasn't jarring enough to disturb you - but it wasn't the best idea lazing right next to it.

With his arms behind his head, Ieyasu lay in the shade, vaguely watching Osu throw around the plushie for a bit. The Aerandir was good at keeping himself amused sometimes, at least. Even in the shade, the air was warm though, and Ieyasu soon found himself drifting off.

Osu was tiring himself out in the sun. It was too warm to run about for long without finding something to drink - he was getting really thirsty! Leaving the plushie unceremoniously dumped onto its head, he trotted up to the porch where the little moving fountain was. It was easy enough just to drink the water from where he was, but that wasn't interesting enough. Placing his front paws up onto the side of the bowl, he crouched his hind legs before bouncing up into the little fountain. Clambering about, he splashed water everywhere before finally taking a drink. Ah, that was better! Sitting down in the fountain, he watched the little bamboo tube clunk down repeatedly, poking at it after a few moments with his long beak. Ah, it never changed. Always doing the same thing, day in, day out. Did it ever get tired?

Boring of the fountain, Osu hopped back out again, splashing water over the decking again. Hmm... what to do now. He glanced over at the plushie, before turning to look at Ieyasu. Hey... was he sleeping!? He wasn't moving much, anyway. Hmm...

Crouching low, Osu began to creep over to Ieyasu, his tail flicking in anticipation. This would be funny, if Ieyasu really was asleep! The little gryphon left a trail of damp wood behind him. Eventually surmising that his guardian was in fact sleeping, he leapt into the air, flapping his wings hard to give him more lift and distance. And landed right on Ieyasu's stomach with a triumphant crow. Got him!

A flash of red streaked over Ieyasu's vision as something wet, fast moving and rather heavy thunked down onto him. Sitting bolt upright with a startled shout, he took a moment to actually realise what had happened. Osu sat on his lap, dripping wet and trumpeting rather noisily. He had gotten one over on Ieyasu - that was funny! Ieyasu groaned softly, shaking his head. "Yeah, very funny. Thanks for that.." -_- Ok, so Osu had gotten bored with the plushie it seemed."Fine, ok. Let's go for a walk then, if you're that bored." Although... he should probably go change first. He now looked like he'd had an accident, thanks to Osu's impeccable aiming.

Rather pleased with himself, Osu hopped down from Ieyasu, before parading over the deck. He was still leaving little drips behind him. Now he'd have somebody to play with who was actually a) a living creature and b) awake. As Ieyasu went into the house, the gryphon bounced after him, wondering what they'd be doing now.

Journal entry - 30th May 2005
Again, it's been a fairly quiet few days, with one or two exceptions. Why can I never, ever go to the hot springs without something chaotic happening? Do I have "trouble wanted here" stamped all over my forehead or something? I swear, one of these days, I'll have a nice, relaxing bath without ending up in a fight or being accused of sleeping about (me sleep about?? Never in a million years) or... I dunno... something happening.

I'd swear that Osu's energy grows by the day. He gets bored being around the house for long stretches of time, so I end up taking him out to walk around the village or on the beach or to the community centre. I wonder sometimes if there was someone else in the house apart from me, if that would help to keep him amused. But then... there isn't exactly anyone to ask, is there?

The other Aerandir are starting to grow up now. Fae's Aerandir is a wisp now - we met them both in the centre the other night. Pueblo seemed to take to Osu much better this time around - they were playing together for a while, which is a change from what happened the last time. Fae wanted to know if I had an anklet that would do for Pueblo. Unfortunately, the only thing I had which could conceivably be made into a metal anklet is the curse necklace from the old hag void. I really need to get rid of that. Amusing as it may be to play tricks on people with the necklace, I don't really want it to end up on a young Aerandir. It must be confusing enough as it is growing up, without having involuntary gender changes thrown into the mix.

So, anyway, I suggested she try the forge - where better to get something made of metal. Hopefully, she found what she's looking for. Now, off to take a wander. At least the storm has blown over now.

Alyosha wandered up to the door of Ieyasu's home. He couldn't sense anyone in but had prepared for that circumstance.

He pulled a pen and a small piece of paper from his pocket scribbling down a note.

A Note

Hey Ieyasu, was wondering if you felt like a night on the beach? Sand, sea and sausages. A bonfire and something to drink to somewhat make up for the havoc we caused at your last party. Talking of which, I'm leaving you a little something for reparations.

8pm tonight.

The note was then rolled up and a small elastic band attatched it to the neck of a bottle of vodka.

Alyosha wandered back off towards the centre, going to make some preparations.

Ieyasu meandered down the path, allowing Osu to run on ahead as he usually did. He carried his sandals, his feet bare and plastered with sand from the beach. Osu was somewhat sandy too, the little grains clinging to his damp fur. The sea had been pleasantly warm this afternoon, and the pair had spent quite some time just messing about in the surf. Now it was getting later and Ieyasu figured that he really should see about something to eat for the pair of them.

Osu bounded on ahead of his guardian, trumpeting happily. The last few hours had been fun! Heading down the path to the house, he stopped abruptly. Something shiny was on the porch. That hadn't been there when they had left before. Chirruping curiously, he broke into a trot. There was a shiny thing there, therefore it must be investigated. Reaching the "thing", he could see that it was like the empty bottle that he had been playing with in the garden before; that time the plant had gone on fire. Did this make the flames come too?

He nosed about the bottle, circling it before giving it an experimental poke with his beak. This one looked heavier than the last one - it was full of water. There was something stuck to this one too...

Catching up to Osu, Ieyasu frowned a little. What was that the little gryphon had? Approaching closer, he could see that somebody had left a full bottle of what looked like vodka (or water in a vodka bottle) on the porch. And Osu seemed to have taken a great interest in the alcohol.

"What's that you've found there, hmm?"
Stepping onto the porch, he leaned down to lift the bottle out of the way of the Aerandir. He really didn't want him breaking that. As he picked up the bottle, he realised that something was attached. Pulling the note loose from the band, he unrolled it before reading over it quickly.

"Hm, it's from Alyosha." He glanced down at the little Aerandir and grinned. "Fancy going back to the beach later?" Sand, sea and sausages sounded good to the kitsune. The fact that there would be drink too sounded even better. Ieyasu was never one to look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. Especially if it came along with a bottle of alcohol. He'd need to thank Alyosha for that - it was unexpected to say the least.

Journal entry - 7th June 2005
Ended up on the beach the other evening, talking to Alyosha. It's been a while since I spoke to him properly. He asked me the reasons behind my coming here, my being a nogitsune and all. I suppose it's a little odd. But it was something I just wanted to do. I can't really find a good way of explaining it...

Anyway, lately I've noticed that Osusuki seems to be developing more and more of a fascination with fire. Whenever I cook something, he's in the kitchen area watching the fire. It's like it holds some sort of magnetism for him. It happened on the beach too with the bonfire. He sat next to it for a good portion of the time that Alyosha and I were talking. He doesn't get too close to the fire though - I guess he remembers what happens if you touch it.

Alyosha suggested that when he's a little older I take him to Acia, another spellweaver. Apparently, she's an earth elementalist, but she could still perhaps help him. Aerandir don't use elements in the same way that kitsune do, so I won't be of any help whatsoever. It's probably just as well - I'd make a lousy teacher to be honest.

I'll just have to keep an eye on him. I get the feeling that things may start to be a little ...hectic.. in the near future.
