I don't know, Applejack seems like the only that would be able to put up with her s**t. Sure, it wouldn't be a cakewalk, but Applejack is the kind of pony to put as much work into something as needed to make it worthwhile.

You kidding? AJ puts Dashy back in line all the time, and Dash let's her. They're already way past that.

Friends do not always make the best partners, as many people find out, unfortunately. What's deal-with-able as friends can become unbearable as a couple. Paying bills? Doing housework? Rainbow Dash strikes me as rather irresponsible, and unless we're talking short term casual fling, it'd be destined to burn, unless Dash changed, of course. That'd be boring.

AJ likes doing that stuff, hell she does it already for an entire company, one more pony wouldn't be a big deal. Besides, it seems like Rainbow already can do that stuff for herself, she does live alone in a massive cloud house after all. I'd be surprised if she couldn't take care of that stuff herself.

There are different ways of dealing with money and responsibility in a relationship, the way that works best (In my experience) is having separate responsibilities, separate bank accounts, you decide beforehand who pays for what, you split big one time expenses, everyone has their own chores and responsibilities, as well as shared chores and responsibilities, but you share everything at home. If someone buys a big a** TV, it belongs to the household, groceries belong to everyone, etc...Point is, you plan all this stuff out first, so there is no friction later over who has to take out the trash or anything like that. I would bet money that AJ would insist on a system like this.

This method would probably end up perfect for these two, and it's the reason that every time I've had a relationship end it has never been over money or responsibilities.

And Dash wouldn't care about it at all. She's irresponsible, so all the planning in the world would tank the system. What if she wants something that AJ does not? Does she go out and get it anyways, even if it means AJ will not be able to get what she wants? Foreseeable, and as such, weakness of the relationship. Now, I can see Jack and Rarity simply because both are heavily business minded and understand the virtues of planning and responsibilities. They're mature enough to handle a relationship. Dash? No. Twilight? Maybe, though her snarkiness, while amusing, would get old really fast if it was in the context of a relationship. Pinkie Pie? Don't break her heart, because it'll be the last thing you ever do, and it seems like that wouldn't be hard, so no. Fluttershy would just drive me insane with her indecisiveness and weakness, so no for me. Some people like babies (emotionally needy, can't stand up for oneself).

And personally, I favor communal accounts with separate discretionary accounts on the side which are funded equally by the couple's decided disposable income. Of course, that requires a partner willing to have more or less than they earn based upon their job if I earn more or less than they do. Not everyone likes that and go for the "I earn more, so I get to spend more" method which sounds like it has fail written all over it.
